Eye Primer -L'Oreal - De-crease Eyeshadow base

I have bought this product twice; once a long time ago when I wasn't so much into makeup and didn't really grasp the purpose of what a eyeshadow primer is supposed to do. Now that I've been spoiled with TFSI and UDPP, it is really easy to spot a bad quality primer and this is one of them. I must admit I do love the packaging of this primer. I like how it is see through so you know exactly how much you have left, as opposed to the other primers out there were the packaging is not see through and you cannot tell how much is left. So that is a positive. I also like how smoothly it applies and that it neutralizes darkness/redness on the lids. Other than that, this product is not perform well. It does not perform its intended purpose, which is to prevent your eyeshadow from creasing and enhance wear time. I tried it first with my Smashbox eyeshadows for an 8 hour work shift and it did not hold up. By the time I got off work, my eye shadow had creased up badly. That has NEVER, and I emphasize never, has happened to me with the higher end primers. So, I decided to experiment my second time wearing it. I applied it with a Sigma eyeshadow base over the top of it, and those things work like nobody's business. I then applied my Sigma eyeshadows over the top. It didn't crease as badly as it did the first time, but it still creased :( So, it failed to perform with a badass base and it failed to perform with high end shadows. That is the ultimate test for me, and it proves to me that it is a poor quality primer. It sucks because I wanted it to work as well as it works for some people, especially since it's cheap and easily accessible at the drugstore but it was a fail for me.

Mascara -Revlon - Overtime

First off, I would like to specify that this review is for the new Revlon Colorstay Overtime Lengthening Mascara. I bought mine in blackest black, for only $2.49 on Manager's Special at my local Kroger. I had been wanting to try it and when I saw it in the clearance bin, I figured that was my perfect opportunity to snatch it up lol Anyway, I would say that this mascara performs well. It lengthens my lashes very nicely, but it is kind of on the clumpy side. I only put on 2 coats of mascara usually, and even after just one coat this mascara got clumpy looking. It definitely holds up all day, but what killed this masacara for me was the fact that it is SOOO HARD to take off! Yes, I enjoy a long-wearing mascara as does most people, but when I am ready to take it off I want it to come off with ease. I don't want to have to fight to take it off and that's what happened with it for me. I use Neutrogena Makeup Remover (in the blue bottle) which I think is a very good quality makeup remover, and I had to practically scrub the mascara to get it off. It came off in flakes, it took several of my eyelashes off with it and it just was not a good experience. I have this mascara in my makeup bag, along with my Bare Escentuals Buxom mascara for my everyday makeup routine and I always pick the Buxom mascara. I dread even thinking about putting this mascara on just because I know what a hard time I am going to have trying to take it off at night. All I can say is I am so glad I only spent $2.49 on it and not the original $8 or whatever on it, and I would never buy this one again. I don't care how nicely it lengthens my lashes, not worth the hassle for me.

Eye Primer -Palladio - Herbal Eyeshadow Primer
rated 3 of 5

This is not the best primer I have ever used, but it is okay. There is definitely a flaw with either the packaging, the formula or both. I can't quite put my finger on it. The product is quite thick, and comes off opaque and somewhat greasy when you blend it out. I don't feel like it dries incredibly fast or anything like that, I would say it dries at an average rate. As far as the performance of the product, I would say it works fairly good. My eye shadows don't crease, it does bring out the true pigment of the shadows, and the shadows will last throughout most of the day with this primer. The big con with this product for me was the application, trying to get it out of the tube. I had to kind of bang my tube against the counter and then use the wand to scrape out the product. And this was only after using it several times! It wasn't like it was almost running out, it was practically new. I really wish they would make the tubes of primer clear so that way you know exactly how much you have left instead of going through painstaking measures to get the damn stuff out of the tube. Like I said, I don't know if the packaging is the issue or the thick formula but I wouldn't buy this one again.

I loved this single so much that I majorly hit pan on it!! I like to use it as an all over lid shade or as a browbone highlight. It's a shame that it's been discontinued :(

Palettes -Stila - Noire Palette
rated 3 of 5
iluvbeanz2004 3/8/2012 4:52:00 AM

Okay, so I got my Stila Noire palette on Ebay for $14.99 and I have to say I am glad I didn't spend the $32 that this palette retails for. The packaging is absolutely GORGEOUS, but that's the most positive aspect of the palette for me. The color payoff of the eyeshadow was poor, in my opinion. The lightest shade (shimmer pink with grey undertones) had to be applied in multiple layers before it showed up. Then, once I blended, it faded away significantly. I had to re-apply. The dark charcoal black with sparkle applied uneven and patchy and was not very pigmented, the same goes for the periwinkle blue. Overall, I was not happy with the quality of the eyeshadow in the palette. Not vey pigmented, poor color payoff, faded quickly, you really have to work hard with these shadows with a ton of effort to achieve a decent amount of color. Which is something I am not particularly fond of doing when I am in a rush to get ready for work or whatnot. I have not tried the blush in this palette so I cannot voice an opinion on that, plus the reason I bought the palette was for the shadows not the blush. I do love the packaging, but would not repurchase this palette.

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Makeup
rated 2 of 5
iluvbeanz2004 3/3/2012 9:48:00 PM

I bought this foundation to see if it was that much better than my usual foundation which is the original Revlon Photo Ready Makeup (which I absolutely love by the way). I picked this up in Shell (which is the same color I wear in the original Photo Ready), which was pretty much the same color. The thing that really made me dislike this foundation and grossed me out, was the digusting smell it has. The last time I checked, foundation shouldn't have a smell to it especially a nasty one! The best way to describe the scent it has it to imagine leaving wet clothes out for days. It has that same disgusting, sour, mildew smell to it. I would have taken it off and put on my other foundation, but I was already running late for work so I just wore one of my stronger smelling perfumes in an attempt to cover up the smell of the foundation because it made me feel really self conscious that others would smell it as well! The coverage was good, I would say almost similar to the original Photo Ready but that awful scent is not worth it. Buy the original if you want to try the Photo Ready line, because it doesn't have a gross smell and it is much better in my opinion. In fact, I think I am going to exchange this because I don't think I can deal with wearing this again.
