Lips -Nivea - A Kiss of Milk and Honey
rated 5 of 5
ilikeringpops 2/17/2012 8:15:00 AM

I bought this lip balm only a few days ago and already I'm planning to buy another so I always have one on hand! Normally, I am NOT a fan of milk and honey-type products because I find the smell of honey nauseating, but I picked this up on a whim. When I first opened the tube and smelled it, I was disappointed because it smelled like, well, honey. But once I used it the smell dissipated almost immediately and left me with soft, non-greasy lips. I find that this stays on for hours, even if I eat and drink a bit. I also like that the tube is easy to open, since I have a bad habit of applying lotion and then trying to apply lip balm, only to have a hard time twisting the tube open. (Yeah, I know, life is hard).

Moisturizers -Ponds - Dry Skin Cream
rated 5 of 5
ilikeringpops 11/29/2011 8:07:00 AM

I normally like to wait until I've used a product for a while before reviewing it, but I've been using this for a few days and it's become my holy grail face cream! During the day I use Burt's Bees Radiance Day Lotion with SPF. During the summer when it's humid, I don't usually need a night cream, but it's almost December now and my face has felt dry and tight after I wash my face at night. I went on the hunt for a good night cream and discovered this at CVS. (FYI: The CVS version has exactly the same ingredients for several bucks cheaper). I've been using this for a few nights after washing my face (I used a cornmeal scrub one night) and my skin has never looked better. You only need a tiny dab to cover your whole face, and I find that the cream sinks in pretty quickly--my face doesn't feel wet when I get into bed. It smells a lot like baby powder, but the smell doesn't bother me, particularly because it doesn't linger long. I was astonished by how soft my face felt after using this for just one night, let alone a few. I'm 6 months pregnant with my second child and having some acne issues, so I was worried that wearing a cream at night might make me break out even more. Nope! In fact, some of my breakouts have gone away completely after I started using this. I guess my face was a little dehydrated. In the mornings, my face is still soft but not greasy. I only spent about $5.50 for one tub of this, and I can't imagine having to replenish it before next winter, even if I use it every night!

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 4 of 5
ilikeringpops 11/28/2011 10:29:00 AM

I picked up this mascara on a whim about a week ago. I'd run out of my usual mascara, which I didn't like anyway, and I was in the drugstore with my 2 1/2-year-old--so I needed to grab something and run. The iconic pink and green tube called to me. Five dollars later... Don't hate me, but I kind of love it. I really like the small, spindly brush. It's easy for me to control how much mascara winds up on my lashes, and so far the mascara hasn't clumped OR been too wet. I've noticed zero flaking or rubbing. I got this in "Very Black" and it's a nice, true black. I find this to be a very good basic mascara: it colors, it lengthens, and it plumps. I have very long lashes to begin with, and this stretches them nicely (even adding a touch of curl!) It's not the best at volumizing, but it does add some nice thickness to my lashes--and because the brush stays so clean, I find that I can easily add multiple coats without having my lashes clump together into groups. Honestly, this really does give me that false lashes look. This still isn't my HG mascara, but it works very well in a pinch (and for cheap).

Mascara -Almay - Intense i-color w/ Light Interplay Technology
rated 3 of 5
ilikeringpops 11/28/2011 10:19:00 AM

First, can we all agree that "Light Interplay Technology" is hilarious? I've had this mascara for a couple weeks and I can't decide if I love it or hate it. The brush is HUGE, which can be a little difficult to get used to, but it's easy to coat your eyelashes with just a swipe or two. I have very long eyelashes, but they're a little thin, and very pale. I've found that this mascara doesn't lengthen my eyelashes (which for me is good--they don't need any help!) but it does a pretty good job of coloring and thickening them. I usually place the wand at the base of my lashes and wiggle it back and forth gently, without lifting to stretch the lashes. It gives my lashes a nice dark, fluffy look without giving the impression that I'm wearing super-long false lashes. Overall, I like it. It is very difficult to remove, though. I bought the non-waterproof kind, but rubbing with soap and my normal eye makeup remover doesn't remove it completely. After a few nights of rubbing my eye area until it was sore, I started using some baby oil to finish removing the mascara. Annoyingly, while it's difficult to actually get off, it WILL run when it gets wet.

Styling Products -Garnier - Fructis Sleek and Shine Weightless Anti-Frizz Serum
rated 2 of 5
ilikeringpops 10/29/2009 2:10:00 PM

I like this product, but I'm still not entirely sold on it. First, the good: 1. I paid $5 for a bottle that seems like it'll last for a good long time. 2. It's great at calming my frizzy hair without making it greasy or messing with my natural curls. 3. It smells good! And the bad: 1. It's very slick and slippery. It feels like I've just squirted lube into my hands. I have to wash my hands several times after using it, often with dish soap. 2. The packaging is kind of terrible. There's no way to really close the bottle--it's one of those "turn the handle this way and it's open, turn it the other way and it's shut" things. I can't imagine traveling with it.

Shampoo -Pantene - Hydrating Curls Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
ilikeringpops 10/29/2009 1:58:00 PM

I love this shampoo! It rinses clean but doesn't leave my hair feeling stripped, smells good, and isn't too expensive. I use it with the Pantene hydrating curls conditioner.

Scrubs -Bath and Body Works - True Blue Spa Just a Minute Scrub
rated 4 of 5
ilikeringpops 3/19/2009 9:50:00 AM

I hesitated to buy this because it's something like $12 for a little jar. I used to go into Bath and Body Works and head straight for the sink so I could use this tester, so when I received a gift card for Christmas, I decided to go ahead and splurge on it. This stuff is FANTASTIC. It smells great (just like fresh, sweet oranges), is thick and creamy, and the granules aren't too harsh on my hands. It leaves my hands and cuticles feeling soft and invigorated without drying them out (even in cold, dry weather). I like to use it before I paint my nails.

Moisturizers -Bath and Body Works - Pure Simplicity Rice Skin Balancing Face Lotion
rated 4 of 5
ilikeringpops 3/4/2009 10:14:00 AM

This used to be my HG moisturizer, but at some point I decided it was too expensive and started looking around at other products. I tried Almay, Clean & Clear, Olay...and nothing came even close to this! I realized that I only had to use a tiny squirt of this moisturizer, but with others I had to use several big ones to get the same amount of coverage. This is a really great, light moisturizer, not too heavy for summer but not too light for winter. I think it smells really delicious. I have it both with and without SPF, and I like them both equally well. Also, I have acne-prone skin, and this doesn't break me out. I'm so sad this has been discontinued! I've had to buy it off of ebay because it's so wonderful.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Lunabalm
rated 5 of 5
ilikeringpops 2/25/2009 12:04:00 PM

Oh, how I LOVE this balm! I originally purchased it from Lunapads.com when I decided to switch over to cloth pads and the Diva Cup in lieu of disposable pads and tampons. I generally have pretty terrible period cramps, so I used to rub this balm all over my lower belly when I was having pain. It helped so much! It smells delicious (it has orange, lavender, and geranium essential oils in it) and comforting. Now I'm almost in the third trimester of my first pregnancy, and I rub this all over my belly every night. It soothes my stretching, sometimes-itchy skin, helps take the edge off my cramping ligaments, and smells so good that it calms me down! It's a little sticky (it IS a balm, after all) but it dries within about 10 or 15 minutes, and you don't need much for it to have a big effect. It also contains Vitamin E, which helps repair skin--I don't have stretch marks yet (hoping I don't get them!), but if I get them, I'll be doubling up on this balm! Really, this stuff is the best ever. One tin (.75 oz) costs about $12 and lasts FOREVER. I'll definitely be repurchasing this!

Eye Makeup Remover -L'Oreal - Refreshing Eye Make Up Remover
rated 4 of 5
ilikeringpops 2/17/2009 11:51:00 AM

I love this! I picked it up on a whim because it was BOGO at Kroger. It has a very comforting, almost floral smell--I think maybe my mom used to use this, because it reminds me of her. It washes off all my makeup without stinging my eyes (though I don't use waterproof eye makeup) and one bottle lasts a long time. Just be careful when wetting your cotton balls, because the bottle's opening is really big.

Conditioner -Pantene - Hydrating Curls Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
ilikeringpops 2/11/2009 8:33:00 AM

I LOVE this conditioner! My hair is very thick, dry, and curly. Frizz is definitely a problem for me, and when I have a bad haircut/am using hair products that are too heavy, my curls lose their shape and I just end up with weird looking waves. I've been using this for about a week now and it's fantastic! It's not too heavy at all. It's thick enough to be a conditioner, but it rinses easily and cleanly, and my hair feels so soft and moisturized. My curls are GORGEOUS now. When I run out of my old shampoo, I plan to start using the Hydrating Curls Shampoo as well.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Dial Antibacterial Deodarant Soap- Spring Water
rated 3 of 5
ilikeringpops 2/10/2009 10:29:00 AM

I like this bar soap pretty well. It smells very fresh, but is VERY drying--okay in spring and summer, but not so much in the winter. I've taken to using this in the warmer months and switching to something more moisturizing when it's cold.

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Cool Moisture Beauty Bar
rated 5 of 5
ilikeringpops 2/10/2009 10:26:00 AM

I love this soap. The scent is light and clean, and it lathers wonderfully. My husband and I both have very dry skin in the winter, and this helps keep us from getting flaky and itchy. I'll definitely buy again.

Bath Treatments -Philosophy - Lemonade Bubble Bath
rated 3 of 5
ilikeringpops 2/2/2009 5:42:00 PM

I wanted to love this bubble bath. It smells absolutely divine, just like a glass of lemonade. My problem rests with the bubbles. I feel like no matter how many times I squirt it into the bathtub, it won't bubble well. There are a lot of bubbles, but they aren't very lush--they're very flat and tend to fade into the water quickly. I probably won't repurchase this, as it was expensive and the smell is all it really has going for it.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Wild Honeysuckle Hand Cream
rated 4 of 5
ilikeringpops 1/22/2009 7:56:00 PM

I love this hand cream! It really smells just like fresh honeysuckle after the rain. And the cream itself is the perfect consistency. My hands get really dry in the winter, and if I go too long without moisturizing they get rashy and lotions just make them itch and burn. Not the case with this! It doesn't irritate my skin even when it's really dry. I'll definitely buy this again.
