Cleansers -Olay - Age Defying Daily Renewal Cleanser
iheartmypitbull 1/7/2012 2:10:00 AM
I love this product, but I'm only giving it 3 lippies. Reason being, it does not function well as a cleanser; it's much better used as a mask. When I first tried it, I hated it because it didn't remove makeup, leave my skin clean, or do anything at all really. One look at the ingredients told me all I needed to know: this should not be used as a cleanser! The active ingredients all need a lot more time to do any good than the few seconds they're on the skin if this is used as a cleanser. The way I use this now does wonders for my skin and actually makes me question all the other claims Olay makes. I apply it to freshly-cleansed skin in the shower, then I do everything else like condition my hair, shave, etc. The last thing I do before I get out of the shower is rinse it off my face. This way, the active ingredients have enough time to actually do something and my face is left soft, clean, moisturized, and glowing. No matter how much I love this as a mask, I cannot give it any more than 3 lippies as a cleanser since it just does not cleanse and if you use it for that, you're wasting all the ingredients you paid your hard-earned money for.

Cleansers -L'Oreal - Skin Genesis Pore Minimizing Gel Cleanser [DISCONTINUED]
iheartmypitbull 1/5/2012 5:00:00 AM
I have the lamest skin: dry and flaky but also oily and congested, so it's tough to find skincare products that can address both these issues without exacerbating either one. This cleanser can do it though! It lathers up really well, removes all traces of makeup, and leaves my face feeling super clean and fresh without that awful tight and dry feeling most gel cleansers leave me with. For the first time I can remember, my skin feels soft before I even put on moisturizer. This cleanser does not dry out my skin at all; in fact, it seems to reduce any flakiness or peeling while simultaneously clearing up any breakouts or congestion. Prior to using this, I had been plagued with tons of little bumps on my cheeks and forehead but they disappeared probably within a week or two. The best part though? It smells phenomenal!!! Seriously, I am in love with the scent and would bathe in it if I could afford that.

Misc Beauty Tools -Sephora - Precision Pore Cleansing Pad
iheartmypitbull 10/16/2011 4:57:00 AM
I was initially very skeptical about this little pad since I was convinced I had already found my holy grail of face washing / exfoliating tools: the microfiber cloth. However, one use of this cute little pink number changed my mind. It removes makeup and dirt so efficiently that I'm able able to use far less product. Previously, I had to wash my face twice: once to remove the makeup, and a second time to clean my skin; but this little cutie does it all at once, saving me time and product. Furthermore, it is extremely versatile. Unlike other exfoliating tools like brushes and cloths, this will not over-exfoliate since it's non-porous. You have to be so careful when using microfiber cloths because if you apply too much pressure you can damage your skin. However, since the little nubs on this pad are so smooth, they will not chafe your face and you can apply a lot of pressure if that's what you want. The non-porous nature of this pad make it extremely sanitary and transportable. When traveling with microfiber cloths, I had to put them in plastic bags because they take forever to dry and then I had to worry about them getting all funky from being damp inside of a plastic bag for any length of time. This little puppy travels like a charm since you can dry it, it won't start to smell, it doesn't require a plastic bag, and it's teeny tiny! It may feel a little awkward to use at first until you get the hang of it: put your index and middle fingers on either side of the suction cup and keep them straight to apply uniform pressure. If you try to hold the suction cup between your thumb and forefinger, you will probably have a pretty hard time. Oh, and one other tip: apply your face wash to your face before bringing the pore cleansing pad into the mix. Otherwise, if you pour your cleanser onto the pad directly, you'll waste a lot of product and it won't work as well as it should.

Eye Primer -NYX - Eyeshadow Base in Skin Tone
iheartmypitbull 10/16/2011 3:21:00 AM
I'm not sure that this isn't just concealer repackaged and re-marketed as an eyeshadow base because that's exactly what it seems like to me. It's way too greasy to be a good ES base, even if you only use the smallest amount. It didn't make my shadow last any longer although it did make it a tiny bit more vibrant. However, I still don't see any difference at all between this product and a concealer. Furthermore, the color is pretty dark and VERY yellow-toned which looks freaky on my fair, cool-toned skin. I do use it occasionally when I'm really tired to neutralize some of the purple on my lids but then again, I can do the exact same thing with concealer.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
iheartmypitbull 10/16/2011 3:13:00 AM
Very creamy and moist, yet doesn't budge once it's applied. I've had mine for quite a while now and it hasn't even started to dry out like my Wet 'N Wild one did after a couple of months. My only beef with it is that it's a little pricey for a drugstore product (what is up with these drugstore products undergoing serious price explosions making them comparable to what you'd pay at Sephora?). Bottom line: great product, lasts a long time (both on your eye and in its packaging), and the brush it comes with is better than most free brushes.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Mitchum Advanced Control
iheartmypitbull 8/18/2011 10:10:00 PM
LOVE!!! Even when the rest of my body is sweating, my armpits are bone dry when I'm using this. Plus, it leaves the most minimal amount of residue out of any solid antiperspirant/deodorant I've tried. I got married on the beach on this tiny island off the coast of Cancun in the middle of June. It was incredibly hot (100+ degrees) and super humid, plus I was super nervous which tends to make me sweat. Not only did this keep my armpits dry, but it left no mark or residue on my dress. A+++++++!!!!!

Tinted Moisturizer -Wet 'n' Wild - Ultimate Sheer Tinted Moisturizer - Natural
iheartmypitbull 1/13/2011 1:36:00 AM
As others have said, this is definitely more of a foundation than it is a tinted moisturizer. As a foundation, it applies beautifully and looks natural and even, with no streaking. It also has surprisingly good coverage to hide blemishes. However, after a few minutes, I noticed that it started to oxidize, leaving a very unappealing orange color on my face. Furthermore, after an hour or so, it made my face an oil slick, which is quite a rare occurrence for me. Perhaps I just need to use a lighter color to account for the darkening effect of the oxidization. That's why I said I would purchase again, since I loved how it looked initially and the coverage it provided. Love the squeeze bottle (detest pumps because they're less controllable).

Foundations -Smashbox - High Definition Healthy FX Foundation
iheartmypitbull 12/3/2010 8:29:00 PM
Looked cakey and chalky, accentuating all minor imperfections and flakiness. It also got really oily after a couple hours and I don't have oily skin. Weird colors too, in that there's a huge lack of cool-toned shades but tons of yellowish ones for warm-toned skin.

Shampoo -Aussie - Cleanse and Mend
iheartmypitbull 11/10/2010 10:06:00 PM
I am in love with Aussie. I swear by the 3 Minute Miracle and always come back to this brand if and when I stray. That being said, I'm not really a fan of this formulation. It makes my hair very dry and frizzy, almost crunchy. This is compared to Aussie's Moist line which is great. I guess if you have really oily hair it might work, and the "Cleanse" function works very well, but the "Mend" function is useless. But it's still better than most shampoos. If you have damaged hair, just use the "Moist" line and only apply conditioner on the ends of your hair.

Makeup Brushes -Unlisted Brand - Loew-Cornell AMM brush
iheartmypitbull 11/5/2010 9:46:00 PM
This brush is an incredible blender! It also applies fabulously, but I mainly use it for blending. I'm going to pick up a couple more next time I'm at Michaels since you really can't beat the price. Quality is comparable to high-end makeup brushes, making you wonder why anyone would choose to spend almost ten times as much for an almost identical brush. Sillyheads!

Styling Products -Living Proof - Straight Making No Frizz Styling Cream for Medium to Thick
iheartmypitbull 10/19/2010 9:08:00 PM
I have quite literally the thickest hair in the world! Every time I get a hair cut, the stylists have all said that they've never seen so much hair on one head before. Added to that, it's pretty frizzy and kind of wavy, so you can best your last dollar that I've tried almost every calming / relaxing / defrizzing / smoothing / straightening product out there. Given that I literally cannot go out in public with my hair down unless I've spent at least an hour blow-drying and straightening my unruly mop, I usually wrestle it into a bun and forget about it. That is until I tried this. Unlike most defrizzing and straightening balms, this didn't leave my hair feeling congested with product, with that sticky, greasy feeling products like this usually seem to provide. Instead, my hair was light and bouncy, but not big! Amazingly, it made my hair much more dense, so instead of a big, fluffy pouf ball, I had a shiny, sleek 'do. And the kicker? Instead of spending over an hour carefully blow-drying my hair in sections to make it as flat and sleek and non-pouffy as possible, I'm able to do a quick 'n' dirty, 15 minute blowout, with no need for a flat iron afterward. My hair is left shiny, healthy, and dense with minimal effort. I've gotten compliments on how great my hair looks every single time I've used this which is crazy considering my hair is usually way too big and pouffy to garner praise. HOWEVER, it is so freakin' expensive! I got a very generous free sample from Sephora that I haven't used up yet, but I just can't see myself spending that much money to buy the full size. Maybe I'll put in on my birthday list or something so someone else can buy it for me, but considering how little product you get for the price, I really don't think I'll be buying this in the near future which is such a shame considering how much I love it and how it performs so differently from all similar products I've tried.

Moisturizers -Vichy - Liftactive retinol HA day
iheartmypitbull 10/19/2010 8:24:00 PM
Since I picked up a free sample of this, I can't really comment on the packaging or price, although I know it's expensive. Don't like! My skin is very used to retinoids, but this moisturizer left me with a red, greasy face all day long, and magnified every pore and imperfection. I have never used a moisturizer that has left my skin so oily, not even when I slathered straight sunscreen (SPF 50, not formulated for the face, not oil-free) on my face when I forgot my regular moisturizer/sunscreen on a recent vacation. I don't have oily skin; in fact, it tends toward the drier side, so I was shocked at how awful this made my face look. I will be using up the rest of this on my hands since I don't even trust it not to turn my neck and chest into an oil slick. It does go on quite nicely and absorb well though, and for the first hour or two it gave a nice finish to my skin, hence the 2 lippies instead of 1.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Single in Brulee
iheartmypitbull 10/18/2010 1:45:00 AM
This is the most perfect shadow to use as a base. It really evens out the skin tone of the lid and provides the best canvas upon which to place other shadows. It goes on so buttery smooth and doesn't look powdery at all. I'm going to stock up in case it gets discontinued!

Mascara -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Length Mascara
iheartmypitbull 10/18/2010 1:34:00 AM
Don't like!!! This mascara is so clumpy and wet that it doesn't really do anything. The opening of the tube is too wide so the wand comes out with way too much product on it. Even if you try to scrape the excess off, it's still too much and the formula is too wet, to do anything beneficial to your lashes. I feel the extreme wetness of the formula actually shortens my lashes. I have naturally long lashes, but this mascara makes them look stubby and skinny. Furthermore, if you look up or down within 5 minutes of application, you WILL get mascara on your brow bone or under your eyes. Very frustrating. Good price, but not worth it. Will not purchase again, which is sad since I usually really love Wet 'N' Wild products.
