Lipstick -Paul & Joe - Lipstick in Motif 059 - LE 2008
rated 5 of 5

This lipstick was LE for Fall 2008. I really think this is my HG nude lipstick! I just had to buy a backup. It's just so perfect on my NC35-40 skintone. In general, Paul & Joe is my favorite lipstick brand because the colors are great, they apply so smoothly, are incredibly moisturizing without being slippery and oily, and they last a good amount of time, even after eating and drinking. So, the fact that I've found a perfect nude in this line just brings me makeup-joy that I can't describe! It is a perfect light neutral beige color which I can wear with cool or warm smoky looks. It doesn't lean towards pink or peach, either, and it covers up my pigmented lips so well. Not to mention, the gorgeous packaging. The tube is paper, but has a nice soft touch to it. The print is dark blue with white and red graphic squirrels arranged in a neat pattern. Too cute!

Powder -BeneFit Cosmetics - Hello Flawless!
rated 4 of 5
idgebrit 4/20/2009 2:00:00 PM

I fall for GWPs every time! I had to buy this powder and one other Benefit product to get this really huge Benefit GWP. I am so glad I bought this because it's turning out to be my favorite pressed powder. I got this in Beige, and it's a perfect match for my NC37 skintone. The texture is very fine and soft and it melts into my skin. The result is perfect, even skintone. I have naturally red cheeks, and this covers the redness. Also, I have very dry skin with dry patches and this powder doesn't bring them out as long as I moisturize first. Also, the coverage is very buildable. I use my Sephora large powder brush for a light coating all over. On days where I need more coverage, I can put a few more layers of powder and it doesn't turn cakey. This powder is so nice!!! The only reason why I gave it 4 lippies is the very poor packaging. The large square compact is big and bulky and hard to open. Inside the compact, there are two layers: one for the powder and one for the brush and sponge. It's hard to lift the top powder layer without nicking the powder itself (another reason why I prefer a separate brush). I will definitely repurchase, but will consider depotting the powder into a sleeker compact (if I can find a square one).

Mascara -Fresh - Supernova
rated 5 of 5
idgebrit 2/20/2009 12:04:00 PM

I've gone through two tubes of this mascara and I think I can safely say that this is my HG mascara. With even just one coat, my lashes are long and glossy, thickened and curled! (Almost any mascara makes my lashes curl, though, even non-curling mascaras.) Two coats make it seem like I'm wearing false lashes. I'm totally amazed by the formulation, too. My lashes feel conditioned and they don't tear off when I remove the mascara (I used Pond's cold cream). Also, it's a very dark black, doesn't smudge or flake on me. My only gripe about this product is the brush. It's a little big and weirdly shaped, so I have to be very careful with application or else I'll get mascara on my eyelids. Overall, great product for my needs in a mascara. For reference, I have very few, but very long lashes that are really thin and curl easily. Depending on your own eyelash hairs, you might have a different experience with this product.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Convertible Eye Color in Stone
rated 5 of 5
idgebrit 7/7/2008 1:10:00 PM

Why did I wait so long to review this product? It has been an HG for me for 8 years and I have repurchased once already. Stila's convertible color is an eyeliner, smudger, and eyeshadow all in one convenient pencil-like package. Stone is a brown-taupe eyeliner with shimmery neutral taupe shadow. Liner is smooth and doesn't tug my eyelids and the shadow is its perfect counterpart. I love using this product when I don't have much time in the morning and I need an eye look that will never fail and always look polished. I line my eyes, top and bottom lids, smudge the lines with the smudger, cover the eyelid with the shadow, then re-emphasize the liner. Add mascara and I'm good to go! For reference: NC35-40, MMM-GGG, black hair, brown eyes.

Lip Gloss -Stila - Lemongrass Lip Glaze
rated 5 of 5
idgebrit 5/28/2008 4:25:00 PM

I'm a huge fan of stila's lipglazes, and this one is no exception. Lemongrass has the same thick, sticky consistency that the lipglazes have, but the color is a bit more opaque than normal. My lips are very pigmented pink, and this seemed to cover them up quite well with no lipstick or liner! The color is a beautiful peachy-nude with just a hint of pink. I just got this, but I'm already thinking this is going to be one of my HG lipglosses! It's so beautiful on my tanned skin with a brown smoky eye. It smells of lemons, not unlike Fresh's Gloss Absolute. For reference: MMM-GGG, NC35-40, black hair, brown eyes.

Blush -Paul & Joe - Face Color - Love 07
rated 5 of 5
idgebrit 5/10/2007 10:20:00 PM

This is one of Paul & Joe's new blush duos. Number 07 features a bright rose blush and light pinky-champagne highlighter all in one cute, shimmery pink pearl compact (with mirror!). Both the blush and highlighter are shimmery, but not over the top. This duo is so creamy (for a powder), blendable, and pigmented while still looking like a natural flush on my tanned skin. I get the most perfect rosy glow with this blush! I love it so much that I want to buy the other 6 blushes in the collection!! For reference: NC35-40, MMM-GGG, black hair, brown eyes

Lipstick -Paul & Joe - Lipstick in Rouge Sacre 100 - LE 2006
rated 5 of 5
idgebrit 3/27/2007 6:40:00 PM

This was my very first Paul & Joe lipstick. I am so glad I tried this brand! This lipstick is a medium to deep, warm red. The texture is creamy and opaque; very moisturizing on my dry lips. I really love how this feels on my lips! I especially love the adorable packaging (hummingbirds and flowers). I have been wearing this almost every day since I bought it. I can't wait to buy more Paul & Joe lipstick! For reference, I'm NC35-40, black hair, brown eyes.

Powder -Aziza - Cream to powder foundation
rated 5 of 5
idgebrit 12/20/2006 2:10:00 PM

I've been using MAC select sheer pressed powder for over two years...until I found this! I've been dying to try this stuff ever since I read the reviews and I am so pleased. I found this at my local dollar store. I got "Cafe Latte" and I'm normally NC35-40 in MAC stuff. This was a perfect match! My face matched my neck and I didn't look "ghostly." I don't wear foundation, and this powder just evens out my complexion perfectly with a nice, soft, finish. My skin is not oily, but a little on the dry side. The MAC powder tended to bring out the dry spots on my skin, but this Aziza powder does not. I love this!

Eye Shadow -Bonne Bell - Eye Style Shadow Box in Urban Camouflage
rated 5 of 5
idgebrit 5/24/2006 7:49:00 PM

I absolutely love this eyeshadow quad! Who knew that Bonne Bell made excellent eyeshadow? I got into this brand by trying her mascara (EyeStyle) because of all the raves it was getting. I loved it and decided to try their eyeshadows, too. This set has a grey-teal, an olive-green, a shimmery vanilla, and a light taupe. I would consider these colors "fun neutrals" that go beautifully together. I like to use the taupe all over the lid, the olive in the outer corner and crease, the teal in the bottom lashline and the lightest shade as a highlighter on the browbone. The best part is, they last all day using a primer! I use Urban Decay Primer Potion, but Wet 'n' Wild cream shadows work just as well to help the color last. These shadows are fairly pigmented and are silky and smooth. I love this quad so much that I want to buy all of the other Shadow Boxes! At $4 a pop, why not?!?

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lipglass in Lure-X
rated 5 of 5
idgebrit 5/24/2006 2:21:00 PM

Lure-X is the perfect gloss for those that have super-pigmented lips and want to tone them down. I've been trying to find a nude-peach gloss for some time, but since my lips are so pink, everything that I've tried just looked either clear or pink. I tried Lure-X just to see what color it would be on my lips and I fell in love with the color: a perfect nude-peach with slight gold shimmer. I've had this gloss for awhile, but always just used it on top of other red or plum lipsticks. The effect is gorgeous as well. I'm so glad I decided to try it on its own! This is my perfect summer lipgloss.

Eyeliner -Cargo - SmokyEye Duo in Barcelona
rated 5 of 5
idgebrit 4/19/2006 3:42:00 PM

This eyeliner duo is so pretty...the prettiest teal I've ever seen. You apply the dark teal gel as a base, then set with the bright teal powder. The effect is beautiful! I noticed that the other reviewers had a problem with staying power, but for some reason, that is never a problem for me. I put on some Urban Decay Primer Potion, lightly dust a neutral shadow all over the lid, then put on the eyeliner using an angled eyeliner brush. The color never smears or fades. I get so many complements when I wear this! The price, though, is very steep for an eyeliner ($28). It's a good thing I picked up mine on ebay for $7.99! For reference: MMM/GGG, NC 35-40, black hair, brown eyes.

Mascara -Bonne Bell - eyestyle in black
rated 5 of 5
idgebrit 4/17/2006 4:44:00 PM

There are so many wonderful things to say about this product! First of all, the formula is *excellent*. It doesn't clump or flake at all! It doesn't lengthen or volumize that dramatically, but it's perfect for a day-time look. Second, I love the brush! It's so soft and fluffy, it gets all of my lashes and it's great for your bottom lashes because it doesn't over-do them. Third, I absolutely love the packaging. It's nice and sturdy, but best of all, it doesn't get all goopy at the opening because there is something inside that squeezes out all of the excess mascara! I can't believe I bought this for $3.50! It's such a great value. It never smears on me and it's easy to wash off. I can't stop raving about this product!

Lip Treatments -Baby Pink - Milky Balm
rated 5 of 5
idgebrit 4/13/2006 6:36:00 PM

I love this balm! It's so moisturizing and it makes your lips really shiny. The pot is small, flat, and orange. The balm is milky white, but goes on clear. My husband says it smells like chocolate, but I think it's more of a cream-vanilla smell. Best of all, it's super cheap on sasa.com! I really love Baby Pink's glosses, too. I would definitely buy this again -- in bulk!

Blush -L'Oreal - Blush Remix by Blush Delice-Retro Rose
rated 5 of 5
idgebrit 4/10/2006 6:06:00 PM

First of all, I requested a CP for this, sight unseen. I didn't even read the reviews. After making the request, I hurried to read the reivews. Boy was I scared! Most of the people that have reviewed this product complained that it doesn't show up on their skin. When I finally got it in the mail, I tried it and I loved it!! I actually can't believe that this showed up on me! I'm an NC40 and this blush shows up just fine. It's not bronze at all on me, just a faint rose-pink. It's so natural, it looks like I'm naturally blushing. There is shimmer in the pan, but it doesn't show up on me at all. I really love this blush with neutral eyes and red lips. I've been using this almost every day since I got it. I'm so glad that it worked for me!

Eye Shadow -Revlon - ColorStay 12 Hour Eye Shadow Quad - Touch of Turquoise
rated 3 of 5
idgebrit 4/10/2006 5:58:00 PM

I'm so torn about this eyeshadow quad. I absolutely love the colors in the pan, but on me, they are so sheer and don't last. When I first applied it, I didn't use an eyeshadow base or primer. The turquoise shade looked very chalky at first, but I built it up until the color was semi-visible. And after all that, it only lasted about 4 hours and ended up looking like some light shimmer. I wanted to give it another shot, so I used my Urban Decay Primer Potion on my second application. This helped with the color intensity, but not by much. However, the staying power did improve - it lasted 8 hours. Lastly, I wanted to try it over my Stila Honey Shadow Pot. I have had much success using this product as a primer. Sadly, it didn't help bring out the intensity of the Revlon shadows, but it did help them last about 5 hours. I really wanted this Revlon quad to work for me, but the colors are just too sheer and un-pigmented. I wish they showed up on me like they do in the pan!!
