Lotions/ Creams -Lac Hydrin - Lac Hydrin 12 Cream

A good AHA that is quite gentle, but it's still a lovely and excellent moisturizer! I've also used it on my face and it didn't clog me at all. Especially good as a body moisturizer in winter. Will continue to purchase. NOTE: Be sure to use a good sunscreen when using AHA's.

Treatments (Eye) -Kiehls - Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

I don't believe in 'eye creams' and have always used whatever I had lying around including Aquaphor, argan oil, Nivea, mineral oil, etc. I got a generous sample of this and love it. It's hydrating yet has very little 'slip' so it works beautifully under makeup. When I use it at night, it helps reduce under eye puffiness slightly (note *slightly*, it's not a miracle cure). Even though it's pricey, a little goes a loooong way with this stuff. Will be purchasing a full size and will continue to alternate it with argan oil.

Excellent stuff. For years I just used lots of Aquaphor after waxing to prevent those awful waxing breakouts on upper lip and brows. Now I use this before applying Aquaphor and it's even better. I'm so glad I came across this recipe, it's fantastic. Also good for spot treating blemishes. Uncoated aspirin is hard to find, so I just crush up regular ones with a mortar & pestle.

Moisturizers -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Argan oil
iberian 8/1/2011 11:49:00 PM
Love this . Never tried argan before but I needed something to calm the weird heat rash and heat breakouts I've been getting, yet would not dry out my already dryish skin. My skin is beautifully moisturized and CLEAR with this!! Similar to mineral oil in that it doesn't totally sink into skin, you can feel a very slight filmy layer on it (but no where near as much as the MO). I use this at night. So much more moisturizing than the mineral oil for me, and it's very soothing and healing. Not certain, but it seems to diminish acne marks and hyperpigmentation - only been using this for a few weeks so far. I marked 'would not repurchase' simply because the Josie Maran price is outrageous. 100% pure argan oil can be purchased for 1/5 the price elsewhere. ALL argan oil is produced and sold by the same women's cooperative in Morocco, under UNESCO. They are the only supplier in the world, so all distributors are using the same oil (a google search will yield lots of info on this).

Treatments (Eye) -Fresh - Lotus Eye Gel
iberian 7/27/2011 10:39:00 AM
Nice smelling and soothing gel. The Sephora sample I used did help reduce my under eye puffiness (I don't have dark circles). Surprisingly quite moisturizing, considering the ingredient list. It's no miracle product but I don't except it. This stuff is VERY expensive, so I would only purchase if I wanted to really treat myself. The texture is very light, non-greasy and soothing. Shame about the price. If you're okay with the price and want a light weight caffeine eye gel, this is a very good choice.

Skincare - Face -Avon - Anew Clinical Advanced Retexturizing Peel

I usually have excellent results with AHA products from Avon, but my skin hates these things. There are so many extracts in the ingredient list! If your skin can handle the various extracts, the AHA component is great. Otherwise, beware. Try their AHA serums instead as they're gentle yet effective (although pricier).

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Crystal Body Deodorant Stick

If you usually need Clinical strength deo's and antiperspirants - like I do - then this is useless. Thank goodness I tested this on my day off!! No odor protection whatsoever - I was stinky within three hours. But my SO has been using these things for almost 2 years very successfully. One lasted almost a year and half for him. Basically, it's cheap enough to buy one from the dollar store and try it. I split the rating in the middle and gave it a 3.

Concealers -TheBalm - Time Balm

Excellent concealer. I'm NC20-25 and use Light, it's a very good match. I have bags under my eyes and this camouflages them well. My skin is normal-to-dry. This does not crease and it holds up in humid weather. In drier weather, it also holds up well without getting cakey. The clincher for me is the formula - it's a 'dryish' cream, so it glides on without tons of slip, therefore it sticks to skin better than most yet it doesn't settle into my fine lines at all. I used to use Erase Paste but this formula is so much better - and it sort of 'brightens' the eye area. I usually use TFSI underneath and a bit of setting powder, but even on bare skin it still works well. Also excellent on my lids to even out the discoloration, and for small spot concealing on blemishes.

Treatments -Ole Henriksen - Invigorating Night Gel
iberian 6/17/2011 8:25:00 AM
This is a very nice AHA and even though this has lots of extracts in it (which my skin usually doesn't tolerate) this works very well for me. It's a gel, so it's very light. If your skin doesn't tolerate richer cream formulations and you're looking for an effective AHA, this might be a good option for you. The price is steep though - there are cheaper AHA's out there that are just as effective. One lippie off for the price. I marked 'yes' for repurchase because I probably will pick up a full size jar since the gel formula is great for summer. I got this as part of the Sephora 500-point 'Three Little Wonders' set.

This isn't a bad vitamin c serum if your skin can tolerate the citrus extracts in it. I do not have sensitive skin, yet this made my complexion ruddy. I had no breakouts at all, and this did feel nice on the skin. But ruddiness = irritation, so this is not for me. I'm going to try both NuFountain's vitamin c serums as well as a DIY version (both with very basic, minimal ingredients). Even if your skin tolerates this one, it's overpriced. I got this as part of the Sephora 500 point 'Three Little Wonders' set, so I'm glad I didn't pay $60 CAD for it.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Warm Vanilla Sugar Body Lotion
iberian 6/15/2011 11:42:00 AM
BLECH. This smells like chocolatey plastic. You know that chemical smell that new plastic containers give off? That's what this smells like, mixed with a bit of vanilla/chocolate scent. Gross, and it won't scrub off very easily either. Glad I only bought a tiny travel size, because on skin this smells nothing like it does in the bottle.

Candles -Bath and Body Works - Warm Vanilla Sugar Candle
iberian 6/15/2011 11:38:00 AM
Meh. Smells lovely when unlit, but once lit it's just a regular old candle. It has no throw whatsoever, so you only smell it if you're sitting beside it. As a basic candle, it burns very well and lasts - but it's too expensive for something basic.

Primer/ Corrector -LORAC - Oil-Free Neutralizer
iberian 6/14/2011 10:17:00 AM
I'm NC20-25 and this does a great job of hiding surface redness along the sides of my nose, chin, cheeks. I also use it to tone down the discolouration on my eyelids and undereyes. I only need a small bit of concealer when I use this, and I sometimes skip foundation altogether. This stuff dries quickly - be sure your skin is well moisturized or it will flake. You can also mix this with a bit of moisturizer and then apply. It acts as an excellent primer, so I don't need my usual one. One lippie off because like all Lorac pumps this pumps out a little too much product each time and it's a bit messy. I squirt some into a sample jar and use it out of there, and replenish as needed. If you use the entire amount from one pump, you'll look too ashy. Great stuff, will definitely continue to purchase.

Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Rosebud Salve
iberian 6/9/2011 10:06:00 AM
Love this stuff. Bought it at Sephora on a whim, after having seen raves on the makeup board. As mentioned below, it's more cosmetically elegant than vaseline. It has a good amount of 'slip' (from the cottonseed oil) and hydrates very well. I use it both at night and daytime. Doubles as a non-sticky lip gloss, basically. I like the tin, some people hate it. Worth the money, considering how much product is in there.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Coralista

I resisted this for a long time because I prefer coolish pinks on my NC20-25 skin. This is so LOVELY! It's a very glowy peachy pink - quite a beautiful glow actually. It's sheer but buildable and blends like butter. It's hard to overdo it. It does not darken throughout the day (unlike WnW, as an example) so don't be afraid to go a little heavier than normal. This does amazing things to my complexion in the summer. Not sure about this one for winter though, I prefer the cool pinks at that time of year. Right now this is perfect, especially since I hate bronzer. This gives a warm peachy glow without any bronze. Not a lot of shimmer on my skin, more glow than shimmer. Could be because I'm on the dry side.
