Hair -Aveda - Salon Hair coloring

First off: no, I don't work for Aveda! I just <3 great quality services and products for low prices! DON'T PAY TONS OF MONEY FOR SALON SERVICES! Get you hair colored with the same excellent products and attention to detail at a fraction of the cost by going to the Aveda Institute where they train their students!!!

I cannot possibly say enough GOOD things about getting your hair colored at the Aveda Institute. Seriously, if you are lucky enough to live near one of the Institutes, or will be visiting a city where there is one- do it! You will never go back to do-it-yourself color, and never again will you be a slave to expen$$ive salon services. I'm a redhead and most people know how difficult it is to keep a red from fading, going brassy etc...reds just don't last. I got a gloss done there and it was amazing!!

- My hair was in BETTER condition after the coloring than when I walked in the place: Shiny, Smooth, light reflection you wouldn't believe. It was softer too, and generally looked healthy.

- The price = Cheap!! At the Aveda Insitute in Las Vegas, coloring starts at just $35! (I have short hair) This is outraegously cheap compared to other salons. Even better: the staff are students, so they won't accept tips!

If you are in Vegas, its worth the trip. Insititutes are also located around the country, here's a link to the list:

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Clear Pore Cleanser Mask

My HG cleanser! Nothing else would clear my skin. -------- DID YOU KNOW? Your acne cream/wash could be making your skin worse?? If you're like me, salicylic acid treatments will actually make your acne worse! benzoyl peroxide products are all that will work for me, but you can have the opposite problem.

Lip Gloss -MAC - lip lacquer - bueno beige

EXCELLENT nude lip...translucent enough so it doesn't entirely mask your lip color (like MAC lipglass in Headliner) but still gives you the sophisticated nude lip look.

Pressed Powders -TheBalm - Sexy Mama
rated 4 of 5
hystericalredhead 9/27/2008 12:34:00 AM

It fits the bill for a pressed powder that *actually* keeps you from going oily over the course of a day. Cute built in mirror, great cover art, but points lost for being just cardboard.

Lipstick -Fusion Beauty - Lipfusion Plump + Replump Liquid Lipstick
rated 5 of 5
hystericalredhead 9/26/2008 11:46:00 PM

Naked is a fabulous touch-of-color lipstick...it's perfect: plumping with that amped-up color of natural lips, only better! I swear by fusion products because they actually plump but they don't hurt, burn, or sting!

Eyeliner -Sue Devitt - Eye Intensifier Pencil in Bangalore
rated 5 of 5
hystericalredhead 9/26/2008 11:39:00 PM

This isn't my favorite color for green eyes, but it comes in a close second! You can't do better than these butter-soft pencils- they go on smooth, give amazing foil affects, and most importantly: they last! Bangalore gives an amazing fresh look for green eyed girls- but I strongly recommend Ava (a deep, true amethyst) if you really wanna make those eyes pop.

Powder -Studio Gear - Powder Foundation
rated 4 of 5
hystericalredhead 9/26/2008 11:35:00 PM

I purchased my first wet/dry powder foundation from Studio Gear! I wear Porcelain, and it gives me amazing doll-like, flawless skin. Your skin needs to be thoroughly moisturized before, however, because the powder finish will really highlight any scaliness. However, for being such a fine "veil" of color, it provides great coverage. Studio Gear is an awesome but underrated line, check it out at Ulta!

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Colour Juice - Melon Punch
rated 5 of 5
hystericalredhead 5/7/2008 6:09:00 PM

I love the Colour Juice tubes because they are NOT sticky, they are thick and emmolient, they stay on, and provide a sheer color. They're the perfect gloss. Melon Punch is a great summer color: sheer, juicy tangerine. I also recommend Iced Latter (sheer gold), Rasberry Smash (intense ruby) and Watermelon Crush (sheer pink)

Sunscreen -Murad - Oil-Free Sunblock for Face
rated 5 of 5
hystericalredhead 4/26/2008 4:58:00 PM

I am in love with Murad Oil-Free Sunblock SPF 30. This stuff is fabulous. Forget the icky-greasy feeling you know and hate about sunblock. This stuff loves you AND your makeup and won't be a hassle to either. It has the consistency of a toner- just rub it on and it cools and dries within seconds leaving nothing behind but sun protection. Ideal for people with acne-prone skin who can't stand slathering on regular, gooey sunblock. Pricey, but that's the cost of quality.
