Treatments -Paul Mitchell - Instant Moisture Daily Treatment

I don't know what it is about this conditioner but I have very thick curly hair and whenever I use the Instant Moisture Daily Treatment my hair always turns out so nice and bouncy, perfect curls and great style.
I have unpredictable hair that's semi coarse, very curly and frizzy. This conditioner is light and works well. I recommend it for any hairtype!

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Blacktrack
hulachic6 3/22/2010 2:28:00 PM
I have combination skin and my eyelids constantly get oily throughout the day so to find an eyeliner that would stay and not smudge was next to impossible. I was in Hawaii and decided to try the gel liner 1) because I was going to go to the beach but didn't want to completely go bare faced. 2) everything else melted on me so it was worth a try. The application was easy for me, be sure you buy the brush! If the product makes the brush too hard, just rinse it in water. No need to dry, the brush doesn't have to be dry to use with the gel liner. I put it on in the morning, went to the beach, got caught in a short rain storm and was pretty much outdoors the entire time - it was August so it was hot. By the evening time when I checked in the mirror, my eyeliner was still there and NOT smudged. Perhaps just a tiny tiny bit of flaking, but no racoon eyes and you can still see the eyeliner. I was completely surprised and knew I found my HG liner! Pros: Easy application (with brush) Stays on ALL day in humidity and heat Perfect for those with oily eyelids Good price Cons: Brush gets cakey fast (but easy to rinse off) Not really for those who have short lids. My sister used this and it smeared on her. She has asian like eyes with a smaller lid bed.

Shampoo -Oscar Blandi - Pronto Dry Shampoo
hulachic6 3/22/2010 1:09:00 PM
I usually put a dime to penny size in my palm, rub my palms together and distribute at the scalp distrubuting in a circular motion. I have dark brown/black hair so it shows up a bit easily so I try to distribute as much as possible on the scalp area. The smell is okay, very lemon-y. The packaging could use some tweaking because you have to really be careful how much pressure you apply to squeezing the bottle because it sprays out easily leaving a mess. It's okay for touch ups but I probably won't buy the regular size bottle again and only buy the travel size. I do prefer it to aerosol at times because you can definitely spot treat.

Conditioner -Jonathan - weightless smooth no frizz cream rinse
hulachic6 4/26/2009 11:11:00 PM
I accidently picked up the Weightless Smooth No-Frizz Creme Rinse instead of the balm and was using this as a leave in creme to tame my VERY thick, curly frizzy hair. Until I was looking up the reviews on MUA, I didn't realize that I was using the wrong product! BUT.... this No Frizz Creme rinse is truly AWESOME on curly hair! I get the perfect ringlet curls (my hair never forms good curls) and my hair is soft smooth and so bouncy. The curls stay seperated and never frizzy. My hair looks really shiny when I use this product as a leave in. Crazy but it works!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 6 for Combination/Oily Skin
hulachic6 3/16/2009 1:51:00 AM
I have combination oily skin. This product is great! It goes on smoothly. I use a foundation brush to apply and this product does dry pretty fast, sometimes too fast. Great inexpensive product for combination/oily skin!

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser

Product works very well. Doesn't dry out. Use with a washcloth to get maximum effectiveness. Also the generic brand works just as well and is less expensive!

Treatments -Wella - System Professional Power Mask
hulachic6 4/14/2008 5:26:00 PM
This Wella conditioner works very well. Although its a bit heavy, try to only apply to your dry ends. Works VERY well when used/mixed with half a vial of Wella System Professional Keratin Oil. Leave in your hair for 20 to 30 minutes and your hair is super soft for days. This product smells so good, very clean and my hair was extremely soft to the touch. I use this at least once a week. The jar is a bit of a pain to open and close in the shower, a pump would work better but still worth the trouble.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Biolustre
hulachic6 2/17/2008 3:10:00 AM
I read about Biolustre in Glamour Magazine and the product claimed it can return your damaged hair to it's "virgin state" instantly. It doesn't wash out and it's permanent so you can chemically process your hair up to 6 times in one day after using this product and your hair will not get damaged. I was very curious and desperate since my hair was damaged by continuous bad highlights. This review is based on my 2nd attempt at using this product. My hair type: I'm Filipino decent (Pacific Islander/Asian) and I have medium length, coarse, thick, dark brown, naturally curly hair which I blow out and straighten at least 4 times a week. I don't have the typical silky black asian hair, my hair is more coarse. My hair gets frizzy instead of curly ever since I highlighted my hair. My hair is dry and the ends are split and very dry. This product is anything but "instant" it takes about 2 hours to do. I purchased the Salon strength version of Biolustre (they sell salon strength for salons and kit for regular customers). It costs $29.95 for a 16 oz bottle. I followed the directions and washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo, rinsed (no conditioner) and blowdried completely. I applied the product on my hair in sections. I first poured a half dollar size of the product in my palms and spread it on each section. (Use a brush - makes covering much easier). I literally drenched my hair with this product, from root to tips, applying more to my dry ends and drier spots in the back. After my entire head was covered I clipped it up a bit and sat under a portable hood dryer (you can buy at most beauty supply stores). I sat under the dryer for 45 minutes (yes - that long because the 1st time I did it I only dried it for 15 minutes and it didn't seem to take). About every 15 mins I checked my head to make sure the entire area was dried. The hair will turn very hard and "crispy". Don't brush, comb or pull your hair when it's in this state. It was hard to get the underneath sections completely dry so I spot dried it with a regular blow dryer. Supposedly it's the heat that activates the chemicals, so the drying part is very important. I rinsed my hair with very warm water and very gently massaged my hair to work out the hardness. I shampooed it 4 times (because I used so much of the chemical) and rinsed it very very well. I applied a conditioner and rinsed. I used my regular styling products and let it air dry half way then blowdried the rest. My hair turned out pretty soft! I could already tell in the shower it was feeling much softer, and my hair wasn't breaking off in the shower like it usually does. But the top layer of my hair (where most of my highlighting damage was) still felt a bit hay-like and dry, but underneath and my roots felt fantastic. I carefully examined my hair in the mirror and noticed my dry ends were still dry. I still had my split ends. I also wondered if the softness of my hair was due to the deep conditioner I used after I shampooed and rinsed my hair. But after I checked the back, I could tell my hair looked and felt much softer than it was before. I would recommend Biolustre to anyone with chemically damaged hair. It's worth trying at least once. Don't expect miracles (I think the virgin state claim is a bit over the top and misleading), but do expect softer, managable hair that's less damaged looking. Split ends will not disappear, only scissors make that happen. Use it before and after you chemically treat your hair to save it from further damage. Also, when you're ready to style your hair after you've completed the Biolustre treatment, use less styling products or conditioner to truly see the results. It almost works like a deep conditioner, yet the results last much longer if you apply the product correctly. I wouldn't say it returns your hair to virgin state, but it does make your damaged hair look much silkier, softer, less breakage and makes it easier to style. Good luck!!

Other -Aveda - Comforting Tea
hulachic6 1/10/2008 10:50:00 AM
BEST TEA EVER! This is the absolute best tasting tea I have ever had, even better is that you don't have to add anything to it! No sugar and caffeine free. It's very calming and such a great soothing taste. I love the fact that it's good all by itself. A total must have and a great gift for tea lovers or stressed out co-workers!

I have thick curly/frizzy hair and this product worked wonderfully on it. Made my hair extremely smooth and easy to brush and blow dry. Be sure you don't apply to the roots and rinse throughly. My hair was super soft and I layed my frizzies down rather nicely. Great product!

Styling Products -Aveda - Purefume Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade
hulachic6 1/10/2008 10:41:00 AM
I live in Houston which is an hour away from the gulf coast making it extremely humid even during the winter time. I needed something that would make my hair humidity resistant! This product seems to do the job. I have naturally curly, thick hair that curls up on one side while the other is somewhat straight (from all the chemical processing throughout the years). I washed and conditioned my hair with Sap Moss, applied Elixir and then blow dried my hair, flat ironed it and as a finisher applied a dab of the anti-humectant pomade. Be sure you emulsify the pomade in your palms very well before you apply to your hair. Avoid the roots and apply over the top layer and even the underside near the nape of the neck (where it tends to kink up when it gets hot). For a more "piecy" look add a little more pomade to the ends piecing it with the pomade. Don't use too much or your hair will look too greasy and heavy. I do like this product being I had to walk 6 blocks in the fog and misty rain, my hair held up pretty well. Not for fine or thin hair, unless you use just a minute amount.

Lip Gloss -DuWop - Lip Venom
hulachic6 1/4/2008 1:56:00 AM
I tried this product when it first came out several years ago. I loved it! Really plumped up my lips and my lips are already a bit plump! My sister in law tried it and it stung her lips and made them itch. I don't recommend it to anyone who has sensitive lips. But it does make your lips look very sexy and sultry. It has a slight sting to it, but nothing painful at all, more of a tingle!

Moisturizers -DDF - Ultra Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew
hulachic6 1/4/2008 1:48:00 AM
I have Oily skin in my T-zone and break out once in awhile on my chin so I was somewhat skeptical of this product and wanted to use it to cut down on the excess oil I experience on my T-zone throughout the day. It doesn't cut down the oil that much, but it is a nice light moisturizer and feels good on the skin. I have somewhat sensitive skin and I didn't have any bad reactions to the product. It's a nice moisturizer, but I'm still on the look out for the perfect oil-controling moisturizer! I would recommend it for normal to lightly oily skin.

Candles -Unlisted Brand - Country Heart Candles
hulachic6 12/3/2007 10:54:00 PM
I googled the phrase "Best soy candle" and Maximum Scented Candles/Country Heart Candles came up first. The website seemed really believable, prices cheap $8.99 and the scents sounded all yummy, but I just received the candles today and I'm currently burning Christmas Cookie and I can't even smell it unless it's right under my nose. A Zaftig Woman beats this candle 20x over... this candle isn't worth a flip! Don't waste your money. It smells good when you open the mason jar, but the scent has absolutely no throw when lit. I have a fairly average size living room and can barely smell the candle. Don't waste your money!

Candles -A Zaftig Woman - Soy Candle
hulachic6 11/25/2007 10:45:00 PM
I am an avid buyer of A Zaftig candles and love most of the bakery scents. I haven't purchased her candles in about a year because I stocked up last year and now visited the site today (Nov '07) and her prices have gone up A LOT for the 16 oz size!! I used to pay $8 - $12 a tin and now it's $18. That's a huge difference. I'll continue to purchase my all time favorite - creme brulee, but have to find a less expensive soy candle for the other scents. **** UPDATE: The candles are on sale! $7 for the 8oz tin and $12 for the 16 oz tin. A MUST BUY!!!! Stock up before the prices go up again! ****
