This retractable pencil brings easy, hassle-free definition to unruly brows, and adds an simple-to-adjust amount of color just where you want it. Use quick upstrokes on the brow to define and tame. Brow Wiz allows buildable color.

I need this, and guess what? So do you. It's just that good. All of us need to feel smooth and moisturized, and this product delivers! Creamy and cool - a definitely happy addition to my favorite happy-girl lotions.

What's not to love here? Keeps me feeling roasty/toasty in the colder months! Feels bright, fresh, and alive on the skin, and is reminiscent of the tropics. When the sun hides, I break this out and somehow, it feels like mid-summer. A must for those of us who live in sweaters and can't take the chill of a long winter!

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
rated 2 of 5

I had run out of h/e foundation (MUFE HD) and couldn't get to Sephora, so I thought I would try this. Plus, it was on sale for a 2-for-1. Terrible. This stuff would oxidize on my face a couple hours after application, and would settle into fine lines. Looked cakey, and I can't believe it has the word "matte" in its name because it was a very oily experience for me. I would definitely recommend bypassing this unless you have PERFECT skin and are using it for small parts of your face, e.g., under eyes. Even then, I really wouldn't use this. A big disappointment. Even my dh asked what I had done and encouraged me to go spend the $45 on my MUFE HD instead of this stuff.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #252 Large Shader Brush
rated 5 of 5
hownowbrownmj 4/14/2009 1:13:00 AM

I love this brush for patting on color right onto the lid. My mu artist taught me to pack color onto the brush and then to pat it directly onto the lid. It works particularly well with duochrome colors (ala MAC) because it doesn't get the dreaded 'red' in blending. Very good quality and washes well. One of my top 5 brushes.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Club Eye Shadow

Gosh, I like this. I can't even fully figure out what color it is. I use it for a smokey eye, and it's such a fresh change from gray or black. It's just very unique. I pat it on the lid with a big brush and put a brickish brown in the crease. Very flattering. Lurve!

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Blacktrack
rated 4 of 5
hownowbrownmj 4/11/2009 12:55:00 AM

I've had people stop and ask me what eyeliner I use. This stuff is great. I know folks have had a hard time with it drying out...when I use it, I dip my brush in it and then put the pot down, top down, on my countertop...then turn it over if I need to dip again. I also store it upside down, which seems to help. Blacktrack is deep, dark, perfect. HG.

I love this. I didn't know if I would like it very much because I am yellow toned, but this is just gorgeous, applied with a skunk (MAC 187)--it's very blendable and just...pretty. Exhibit A is my hg, but if I need something with blue undertone, rather than yellow, I reach for this.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 263 Small Angle (Ox & Synthetic hair)
rated 4 of 5

I finally figured out--thanks to a MAC makeup artist--how to do a winged liner with this brush. I will try to explain. You take the brush and turn it so that you are just using the point and you draw from the outer corner of your upper eyelid out...drawing the wing. Then, turn the brush to its "normal position" and continue to line your upper eyelid...from the inner corner outward, eventually connecting the line to the little wing you drew with the point. Hope this makes sense and hope it helps!

AMAZING. I actually don't know how I've done my eyes for so many years without this brush. I've always wondered how some people could get such diffused smoky eyes...this is how. I love this brush and am probably going to buy another.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Facial Hair Removal Spring
rated 5 of 5
hownowbrownmj 3/11/2009 11:24:00 PM

This is amazing, and I can't believe I've gone so long without knowing about this. It makes a huge difference in my skin...takes away jaw fuzz, upper lip, etc...and makeup goes on so much smoother. I have tried EVERYTHING and am so impressed with this as a hair remover. Easy, quick, cheap. Yes, it's a little painful, but for me...not even as bad as threading or waxing. Well worth the $16 I paid. Go look it up on youtube for more info and tutorials on how to use it.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
rated 4 of 5
hownowbrownmj 1/4/2009 12:26:00 AM

Well, this does what it says it'll do...on my skin, up close, there is no tell-tale sign that I'm wearing liquid makeup. This seems a little less oily than my Matte Velvet (also by MUFE), and the color selection is extensive, with a lot of choices with yellow undertones (not pink) available. Don't know that it's my HG, but it is a good go-to for everyday.

Cleansers -Ponds - Cleansing Towlettes
rated 4 of 5
hownowbrownmj 1/4/2009 12:23:00 AM

I like these and am surprised by the poor reviews. I bought a ton of them at Costco, and for the price...when I'm not feeling up to the full makeup cleansing regimen...these are great. They are moist enough, and for me, they DO remove my mascara (two coats AND Shisiedo Primer!). I recommend them and will go back for more.

Misc Beauty Tools -Palladio - Rice Powder Blotting Papers
rated 4 of 5
hownowbrownmj 11/30/2008 11:55:00 PM

These little blotting papers are essential for non-conspicuous touch ups during the day. Perfect for on-the-go sweeping away of oil, at your office desk, in the car, or anywhere! They are easy to use and eliminate oil without adding an extra layer of powder to your face. Just one paper quickly swept over your face does the trick, keeping your face fresh, clean, and happy!
