This gives a beautiful color IF you apply it correctly. I am naturally medium-fair, so a MAC NC/W 25-30. This lotion in dark makes me look like i've just come from a week in greece. Love it. How to apply: Start with your feet--work up from there. Rub carefully into toes, top of feet and ankle/heels area. Rub it in well! You don't want weird stripy feet! Move up to your legs.. pretty straightforward. Big circular motions and check for streaks. Same with arms, torso, and face. The hands are the only annoying part. Finish your entire body (and face), then wash your hands (top and palm) with hot soapy water until they are NOT BROWN ANYMORE. then take a cotton pad and pump the lotion onto that. Carefully bronze the tops of your hands and your wrists. Voilà! I love this stuff, it doesn't turn me orange and people always ask how I'm so tan :)
Moisturizers -Chanel - Hydramax+ Active Moisture Cream
hotpinklips 2/23/2012 4:03:00 PM
I have to give this full marks. I really do. Where to start? Well, it makes my skin smooth and perfect. It smells beautiful. Glides on, moisturizes evenly, even under my eyes and any dry patches. Since I started using this, I use only 2 products for skincare. Mild almond milk soap for makeup removal, and this right after. I do this before bedtime, and wake up with refreshed, plump, glowing skin. It is absolutely amazing, and definitely worth the price. I have tried moisturizers from Estée Lauder, Clinique, Nivea, Lancome, and this is by FAR the best. Not only does it give the best results, it seems to calm my skin. I generally have clear skin unless a product is breaking me out, and this just helps the general appearance of imperfections. It's amazing and sinks in fast, is non-greasy and just a total holy grail status item for me now. I love what it makes my skin look like, i find that I am using less and less tinted moisturizer and powder to cover my skin up. This cream helps your skin just glow by itself so that no makeup is needed. Before this, I would never have left the house without tinted moisturizer and bronzer on. Now my skin feels and looks soft and even colored again and I have no worries about brushing some blush on and going :) Definitely expensive, but not the worst price ever. Worth it for the results.
Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 - Oil Free
hotpinklips 11/18/2011 5:07:00 PM
I am still quite new to this tinted moisturizer, but I felt like I needed to review it as soon as I had an idea of how it worked for my skin. For reference, I am an NC25-30 and wear the shade Nude (which is a perfect match), and usually never wear foundation, but was growing tired of the MAC tinted moisturizer. Since LM had good reviews, I decided to give it a try, and I am so happy I did! My skin is completely normal for the most part. I'll get the occasional breakout, but nothing major--no big flaws to hide, or redness to cover. If it does get oily though, or is not washed enough, it gets bad--this was my reason for getting oil-free. So i get my tube of this stuff, and WOW. Compared to the MAC TM it gives waaaay moe coverage! I tried blending it with a stippling brush, but it really does look nicer if you apply with your fingers. The best part of this foundation (I'm calling it that because in my head its thicker than a TM) is the lasting power. I put it on at 8 am this morning, and tonight at 10 30 it still looks awesome. I do set it with a matte bronzer though. And the finish..... Oh. My. Gosh. My skin is by no means perfect. I have little bumps, small discolorations, freckles, whiteheads, pores etc etc...this hides it all. I swear in the sunlight my skin looked airbrushed. I was so happy when I caught a glimpse of myself in the bathroom between classes....I do NOT mean this is an "oh-my-skin-is-just-awesome-look-at-me" way, but in a "WHYDIDNTIFINDTHISSOONER" way. It doesnt oxidize the way MAC does, and the bronzer I buff into my cheekbones and forehead stays put until I take it off. I really, really LOVE this product. For reference, this is what I do to my skin beforehand: Remove MU with wipes Cleanser+Toner (these vary, but mostly Vichy) La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo and then i use the LM TM unless my skin is feeling very dry. I really recommend this product to people with similar skin to mine, I think I will be buying this for a long long time!
Lip Gloss -BeneFit Cosmetics - Ultra Shines- Foxy Lady
hotpinklips 10/9/2011 6:22:00 AM
I think I will keep repurchasing this forever. It's so gorgeous on my lips--it makes them look really full and naturally plump. The color is just amazing. It has very fine blue and green glitter in it which reflects light and looks so nice. The pink is not too bright--in the tube it looks much brighter than it does on my lips. it is actually quite natural looking, I wear this lipgloss for day and night-time. It isn't overly sticky which i love, since i have very long hair and it tends to stick to anything i wear on my lips. this one still sticks, but i can rub my lips together while wearing this and not feel like they are glued together. This has quickly become my HG lipgloss, i can't say one bad thing about it. the packaging is adorable, and it closes nicely--with a little *click* when its completely closed. LOVE this, and will probably be getting it as presents for my friends.
Fragrances -Juicy Couture - Peace, Love & Juicy Couture

Wow! I really love Juicy fragrances. I bought this today after using endless samples that I kept picking up because i loved the scent so much. I already own Viva la Juicy, but as I am at the end of my bottle (and summer is approaching) i thought I would give this one i try, and im so glad I bought the full size. It's gorgeous. From the packaging to the initial scent to the day-long settled-in smell--i love it. The smell is fresh, breezy, and clean. Imagine waking up early on a summer beach day, just before it gets too hot out, and running down to the ocean and smelling the water and clean air. This is what it reminds me of! its how the smell of freshly cut grass makes you happy, just bright and not too sweet. It doesn't have any heavy vanilla or musky notes in it, and so the weardown it almost fruity. It lasts all day, even when i wake up in the morning my wrists smell nice :) Very expensive though, (at least where I am) but so worth it.
I have been wanting to do a review of Coconut Oil for several months now, as I have been using it for about a year. Now i finally got around to doing it :) Anyway, first off, you can see what my hair looks like in my profile. Very dry, highlighted once or twice a year, and long. My main problems are split ends, frizziness, and just the general unruliness of wavy-but-not-quite-curly hair. Coconut oil was recommended to me by the wonderful girls on MUA, and after trying it, I am glad I did. I use it on my dry hair, i section off parts with clips, and then scoop out a small amount of CO with my hand. I let it melt in my palm (sometimes you need to rub your hands together) and then smooth it over the section of hair. Repeat this until all your hair is a greasy mess. Haha! It will look wet and gross and feel oily. I usually put it all up in a clip or something and watch a movie. I've slept with it in before, but you will HAVE to put a towel down, unless you want to ruin your sheets. I should add that the longer it sits on your hair, the better. More oil will be absorbed, and this is what you want. Anyway, once you decide to wash it out (i find that a minimum of 4 hours on my hair is necessary--but this may vary depending on hairtype) be SURE to shampoo twice, or use a clarifying shampoo. I once went on a date with a greasy strand by my right ear. The guy kept smelling me. And it looked awful. He didn't call back. ANYWAYS. Once you have gotten ALL the coconut oil out of your hair, don't condition, you don't want product buildup. Let it dry naturally and then style as you want. I noticed an immediate change in texture, and of course smell. Less frizz, and it SOFTENS your hair so nicely. It becomes really nice to touch and play with. I try to do this every 2 weeks at least, and since CO is cheap, its definitely possible. The smell is truly amazing--think tropical beach vacation. Love what it does to my hair, i would recommend this to anyone! I hope my experience can help out somebody else :) good luck!
Blush -Hard Candy - Blush Crush Baked Blush- Bombshell
hotpinklips 5/17/2011 5:00:00 PM
This is very pigmented in my opinion. I have medium dark skin, I wear C4 in mac F&B, and NW25, and this shows up so much, i really only have to use a tiny bit to get that "bombshell" look. i do have a picture of myself wearing it in my profile, but i apply it with such a light light hand because otherwise i look ORANGE. love the packaging, but would not buy again. I find that this almost works better as a bronzer.
I LOVE monte carlo....it's my first Rouge coco shine, and it looks great on. its not as heavy as a lipstick, and i have tan skin and blond hair, so this works well...it gives a nice beach-y glowy look that doesn't look too made up! if you see it...BUY IT
Let me start by saying what my hair type is. Very very thick (and somewhat coarse) wavy hair, that frizzes easily in humidity and naturally blond with highlights (but only about 1 time a year..not too damaged). My main problem was frizziness and puffiness that a blowdryer could just not help. Enter GHD. Amazing. Just, amazing. I start by clipping most of my hair up onto my head and just working my way up in small sections. I never need to go over a piece of hair twice with this straightener, and it not only makes hair smooth, it makes it SOFT. shiny...not so much, but the texture i get from this styler is wonderful. I always use a heat protectant, and do not get split ends from this. Yes, its expensive, but the amount i use it totally made it worth it. I can do my thick thick hair in 10 minutes. I cannot even begin to say how many people compliment me on my hair now. The actual iron is small and sleek, so great for travel, and should it ever break, I would replace immediately. HG hair tool, and will definitely stay this way.
I am so in LOVE with this scent. I can't even describe what I feel when I smell it, but for some reason it makes me really really happy :) It has a very subtle vanilla-ey scent to it, but doesn't come off as sickly sweet as Pink Sugar. ( I have PS, and do not use it because its too much for an everyday fragrance). Viva la juicy is fresh and sweet, with mandarin and jasmine notes, and I can't smell it enough. Nothing overpowering about this fragrance, I wear it everyday and have gotten tons of compliments so far. The boy also likes it, and could not stop smelling me to figure out what the yummy smell was! It's my signature fragrance, and even though it's expensive I will be buying this forever. Absolute HG out of my collection, and I have to add that I have a substantial perfume collection (over 450 bottles). The packaging is adorable, and although juicy comes off as slightly tacky at times, this perfume is gorgeous, not tweeny or artificial, and just perfect!
Lip Gloss -Christian Dior - Lip Polish Smoothing Lacquer 002
hotpinklips 2/6/2011 2:14:00 PM
WOW. This lip gloss is the ONLY lipgloss I have ever thought actually looked good on me. I own many mac ones, and while they look beautiful in the tube, they look somewhat tacky and overdone on my face. CD lip smoothing gloss is absolutely amazing. The gloss is sheer but with just enough pigment to look even and smooth out any uneven parts of your lips. The final effect is super shiny lips that look photoshopped. I could not stop reapplying, and I only bought this yesterday. The wand rotates as you roll it along your lips, which gives quite a thick coat of gloss. The best part is that the ingredients are so moisturizing. It's like using a scrub and deep moisturizer on your lips after a few hours of wear. I can't believe I haven't tried this sooner. I will be repurchasing FOREVER. It is the first l/g i can wear all day, every day, and to any event. Love this so much, I can't recommend it enough! if your lips are dry, cracked, pigmented, non.pigmented, full, thin, whatever, this product is awesomeness in a tube. It makes my lips look full and plump, and it lasts a good 2 hrs.
Amazing smell, but not my favorite. It definitely lingers in your hair after washing. Not moisturizing, it left my hair feeling very stripped of natural oils, but after drying it feels and looks amazing. Sucks that it doesnt come in a container :(
Powder -BeneFit Cosmetics - Lust Dusters [DISCONTINUED]
hotpinklips 1/5/2011 5:04:00 AM
I like this product, but only because of the extreme sparkley-ness of it. I tried it on in the store and it looked amazing, and it definitely looks like that at home as well. Unfortunately, it cannot be used by itself, since it doesnt stick to your skin, but when applied over cream shadow or primer it looks really pretty. I have this in nugget, which is a gold/neutral shade and looks natural enough that i can get away with wearing it most days. Very expensive, but so little product is needed to get results that i feel it will last me for years! I apply it with a small fluffy brush, and when i want a bit of a glow, i take a medium sized brush and buff it onto my cheekbones in circular motions, which looks really amazing, especially in photos. Love it and would make a great present for anyone who likes MU in my opinion.
I got good results from this. Nothing ground-breaking or HG worthy, but good. I think the BEST part of this product is that is doesnt clump. Ive had mine for waaay too long, and when i use it, it looks natural and non-clumpy. It gives a kind of feathery/natural look to my very fine blond lashes. Since i was small, ive never had brows or lashes that show up because i have light hair, and this really works well in my opinion. Its also easy to use because of the curve of the brush, and easy to find in my MU bag (the shape is nice to hold). I would not use this for going out/partying though. just not enough volume in my opinion. BUt definitely for everyday, i use it with all my bronzey/taupe eyeshadows, and it complements any day time look very well.
I am so MEH on this product. I have it in champagne, which is definitely the right color for me and everything, but i find that this does NOTHING for my skin. Sure, it provides coverage, but it makes my skin look...how can i say it...DULL. For reasons i do not understand, it just looks flat on me. If I apply it with the sponge, its cakey. With a brush, its too sheer and doesn't even look like i did anything. Also, for the price, it is such a disappointment. maybe its because i have relatively dry skin that it doesnt work for me. A friend of mine uses it (her skin is combination/oily) and it looks great on her! I find that glowy products, such as the MAC skinfinishes, give a much nicer finish to your complexion, and trust me, this is after EXTENSIVE searching. If you want something to quickly brush over your skin, this is not a good one to buy, i would probably only use this one if ran out of my other powder. I've had it for over a year now, and still have not even come close to finishing it, which really says it all.
