Lip Treatments -Bath and Body Works - Superfill Extreme Lip Plumper
rated 3 of 5

Wow, this is tingly. When I first tried it, I was a little worried that I was having some really bad allergic reaction to it, and pictured myself with lips freakishly red and swollen. Turns out, no, that's how it's *supposed* to feel! It's like Lip Venom times 100. Seriously, if the tiny little tingle in Lip Venom bothers you, this is not for you! Anyway, it has an okay grapefruit scent. I really can't comment on the "plumping"; I asked my husband if my lips looked any different, and he said, "Um, shiny?"...still, I can't imagine that it could cause the sensation it does without causing some plumping as well. Lasts about 20 minutes or so. Gonna give this one away. I would be scared that, without thinking about it, I'd kiss someone while wearing it and cause them great alarm when their own lips started suddenly burning and tingling.

Cleansers -Lumene - Lift Touch Rejuvenating Cleansing Oil
rated 4 of 5

I've used this for 3 or 4 days now, and so far so good. I had a bad reaction to DHC's oil (lovely, itchy red bumps), but nothing to this yet. Yes, it does have a fair amount of fragrance (perfumey-smelling), which is its only downside at the moment. I don't use it near my eyes, just cuz I'd rather use a separate product. It feels good, rinses easily, and my skin isn't tight afterward. Will update after using it for a little longer!

Cleansers -DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil

I tried a sample of this and *loved* it. It was so fun to use, and left my skin feeling great. So I ordered a full size. After using it twice more, my face became covered in itchy red bumps. Very sad, b/c I hadn't been so excited about a face wash in a long time. From my research it sounds like the rosemary in it might have irritated my skin. I'm gonna look into other cleansing oils now. So I'd suggest trying a sample of this first...

Sunscreen -Shiseido - Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 55 PA+++ [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5

I had such high hopes for this product, and for the most part it has lived up to them, but I can't say it's quite a HG. It does feel very lightweight, and it is the least shiny s/s I've ever tried. It doesn't leave me matte all day, but my face is significantly better in that department than it has been with anything else, so I have to give it points for that. I guess I need to accept the fact that there is nothing that will keep me matte all day long. Anyway, the negatives are the perfumey smell, but that does disappear quickly. Also, I do feel like my face looks paler with this on. I would probably buy again only if I don't find anything better or equal at a lower price.

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Wash
rated 3 of 5

My only complaint about this product is the scent. It's not an unpleasant scent; smells like baby shampoo to me. It's just that if it's supposed to be so gentle, why must it be so highly fragranced? Aside from that, though, it is a nice basic face wash. As others have said, do not attempt to travel with it in its original pump bottle...I ended up with a sticky, soapy mess when I did that.

This stuff is magical. When my son's cheeks get all windburned from the cold, I put some of this on them and they're all better within a couple of hours. My daughter had this rash on her hands from the cold also, with red, super dry skin, and this is the only thing that has helped. I love the little tiny tubes for carrying around, too!

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Paves No Sulfates Allowed Repairing Shine Shampoo

Like others have said, this made my hair dry and tangly. Also, I generally love lemon scents, but this one just smelled "harsh" to me. So much so that even if I loved how it worked, I probably still wouldn't use it.

Ewwww, so oily. Like rubbing a big handful of Crisco on your face, and yes, the oil ends up coating your eyeballs. Not pleasant.

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar

This worked really well for me, but I had to stop because DH kept complaining about it stinking up the bathroom. If I wasn't so lazy I would try mixing it up with some essential oils, though the smell doesn't bother me. Might try again in the summer, which is when I need a toner anyway.

Slimey! Leaves a gross film on your skin no matter how well you rinse.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact
rated 4 of 5

I love that you don't have to use a lash comb thingie after you puts this one. Saves one more step as far as I'm concerned. It's very natural looking as far as mascaras go. If I try to put on more than one coat it starts to get clumpy, but one coat is perfect for separating lashes and making them stand out a little bit.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Pecan Passion Temptations 3 in 1

I enjoyed this one for about two showers. Then it smelled sickening to me. Of course in the meantime I had bought the lotion, the lip gloss, and some spray because I thought I loved the scent. It's weird because I often like sweet scents. There is something in this that smells buttery, and I think that is what turned me off.

Treatments -Bliss Labs - Instant Mattification
rated 3 of 5
hot_mama 9/26/2006 8:45:00 AM

After shelling out so much money for this, maybe my expectations were unrealistic. If it really kept me matte for hours at a time, it would be worth all that money. But--it only works for two or three hours, and not wonderfully at that. And I'm not like super insanely oily to begin with. Also, I now have some little whiteheads that I'm pretty sure are from using this. I am soooo disappointed. Seriously. I wish I had swapped for this or tried a sample first.

Lip Gloss -DuWop - Lip Venom

Eh...this didn't do anything dramatic. Or anything at all, really. The only good thing about it imo is its weirdly pleasant smell, which reminds me of the bottom of a trick or treat bag with all the mingled candy smells. Wouldn't buy again.
