Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Intensive Moisture Balance
rated 5 of 5
hollywoodd 6/16/2012 8:46:00 AM

I've finally found a replacement that my skin loves just as much as my beloved Dove Facial Lotion with SPF15 that was discontinued a few years back! I swear I've tried every moisturizer I've seen on the shelves with no such luck. It wasn't until I went back to school to become an esthetician that I discovered this moisturizer as my school is a Dermalogica Partner. I recommend this to just about everyone over any other Dermalogica moisturizer with the exception of those with oily or breakout prone skin. My skin is very dry normally but since I bought the professional size bottle of this, it's less flaky, tight and parched. I can almost feel my face soaking it up and after I'm left with glowy, smooth, flake-free, hydrated skin that I truly have not felt since my HG Dove Lotion. I'm very product picky when it comes to textures, smells and consistency in my facial products but I have zero complaints with Intensive Moisture Balance. It smells clean and calming (like most Dermalogica products smell) and is thick enough to feel more like a cream but once it's all massaged in, it feels just right in every way. Not too thick like night creams (even with dry skin I hate feeling like I'm going to sleep with a 5lb mask of moisturizer on) but not too light where you feel like your skin did t absorb anything at all either. I'm most definitely going to be repurchasing but a little bit does go far so with the professional size I'm betting I won't even need to repurchase till probably the end of the year. For me, as I said its not too heavy so I'm able to wear this both in the A.M and the P.M but I do know of some ppl who have found it only works as their day cream OR their night cream but not both. Definitely worth a try if you're skin is prematurely aging, dry, dehydrated, tight or flaky! So happy I finally found something that makes me flake-free AND YAY I'll never have to pay full price! ;)

Treatments -L'Oreal - Eversleek Smoothing Deep Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
hollywoodd 8/17/2011 12:54:00 PM

Love everything about it! Rich consistency, good 'natural'-ish kind of scent. Does what it says....keeps thirsty/frizzy prone hair SLEEK, silky and truly frizz free! I was on the central cali coast for the past few weeks visiting family and they live about 10 minutes from the shore which means the humidity is insane! While my relatives straight hair went frizzy and curly within 15 minutes of being outside....my dry, bleached, flat ironed hair was smooth and stick straight not only all day but on into the next TWO days!! I think I paid $8 for the little tub and my only complaint is that I wish the tub were bigger! :) it says to use weekly, the first week I used it 3 times simply because I was obsessed and thought maybe my hair wont frizz as much if I triple up on the deep conditioner but the last 3 weeks I've used it once a week and that's all it seems to need! I towel dry, slather this on, comb thru, stick a shower cap on and hang out for maybe 10 min. I can't imagine how it would feel after sleeping with it on overnight.... might try it. As if my hair can get any silkier... ;) Definitely re-purchasing!

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Perpetual Peach #423 (Infallible Lipstick)
rated 5 of 5
hollywoodd 6/26/2011 6:16:00 AM

I had to have this after seeing it recommended by the artist who did Eva Longorias most recent Allure cover look....I love it! A light, pretty peachy-pinkish. (I think lipstick colors are hard to describe as they look different from person to person.) Soft, moisturizing and sheer enough to wear just one coat...or it can be layered with a couple coats. Only two complaints I have is the packaging and it doesn't seem to last more than a couple hours. The packaging is the dumbest thing you could imagine and you'd have to pick it up in the store to understand why it's annoying. The clear lid has to be lined up a certain way with the bottom half of the stick inorder for it to 'click' on. May seem like not the big of a deal but when you're in a hurry, or driving (haha...) you shouldn't have to worry about it lining it up one way only as I've tried to put the lid and have ended up smashing/chipping off some of the stick. That made more sense in my head...lol anyway just pick it up in the store and you'll understand!

Cleansers -L'Oreal - Go 360 Anti-Breakout Facial Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
hollywoodd 6/26/2011 6:02:00 AM

My 3rd of the Go 360 cleansers and by far my FAV! I initially picked this up because I've begun collecting the cute little scrublets but I have no need to try the others now! After about 5 uses with the white scrublet I noticed it began to get 'stained' from my concealer/powder so I now just lather it in my CLEAN hands and use it that way. I have clear skin as is, only getting blemishes once a month due to the super fun hormones changing but after almost 2 months of use (and 2 periods later...) I can honestly say even during that hellish time of the month, I have yet to have even ONE spot anywhere! I can't say it's amazing for acne-prone skin but I definitely say it's worth a try!! It's a gel type liquid consistency, lathers amazingly, leaves your face soft, clear, clean and not at all tight, flaky or dried out. I want to say it was $5-7...I'm about to buy my 2nd bottle in a few days. Totally at the top of my HG Cleansers list. :) And BTW, although I don't wear waterproof mascaras or liners, this also does a great job of removing eye makeup! Waterproof users, you may find you still need to use a makeup remover in addition to this.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
hollywoodd 6/26/2011 5:35:00 AM

I've become so MUA obsessed that I will literally whip out my phone while in the beauty aisles and look up every single product before I purchase...often being in the same aisle for 30-45 min looking up ratings and reading through all the reviews. When I picked this moisturizer up I decided NOPE I'm not going to look it up before I buy, I'll just try it for myself and hope for the best. (This was also partly an easy impulse purchase as I had my dads Visa with me and thought hmm if I end up hating it, it will be his $15-16 wasted, not mine. lol) I fell in LOVE after the first use. I've been on a moisturizer hunt since Dove discontinued my HG recently and I do believe I have found the FIRST one since that I will DEFINITELY be repurchasing. It's not AS great as the Dove was but for sure takes the spot for the next best thing. I did not realize until I was first putting it on that it has SA in it, not sure how I missed it, it's on the front of the bottle and got a little worried I would end up with no real results because I don't really have a need for SA. If i ever get any sort of blemish, it's around the time of my cycle so I can't really vouche for how well it works on acne-prone skin. Despite thinking I would see no real results, I did! My face was 100% spot free before using it but seems to be like ULTRA clear now. Kinda hard to explain but will also mention it seems perfectly hydrated, smooth, glowy and my overall skin tone has evened out. I figure the SA will just help KEEP my skin clear as it's not greasy or sticky what-so-ever. Instantly you'll feel your skin has just been quenched. This may shock some but my FAVORITE thing about this? I LOVEEEEE that it has NO SPF!!!! I think it smells kinda 'natural' and super clean, Consistency is perfect...creamy but liquidy without being too runny or too rich. I've gotta say now that I've been using it for almost 2 weeks and have finally decided to check the rating, I'm a little shocked it's only in the 3 range. I thought I'd find it at a 4 or higher! Needless to say, my hunt is finally over and I couldn't be happier. :) It's TOTALLY worth my OWN $15 next time! lol

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF15
rated 1 of 5
hollywoodd 6/14/2011 2:43:00 AM

I'm getting really annoyed with hunting for a moisturizer comparable to Doves DISCONTINUED Daily Facial Lotion (it was THEE HG of all moisturizers for me....im truly kinda mad at Dove. lol Anywayyy.... I bought this about a month and a half ago and was super skeptical mainly because it felt, looked and SMELT like pure sunscreen. I decided to just ignore it and give it a shot anyway... bad idea. I would say it seemed to do an OK job of moisturizing but it definitely makes you oily (which is something I've never had to deal with and now can sympathize with those who have naturally oily skin...omg what a PAIN!!) It doesn't seem to absorb, rather just sits on the surface and as others have said the BURNING is harshhh! I too had to literally hold toilet paper on both eyes till get stopped watering which then made them bright red. After this I began to be incredibly careful not to put it near my eyes and not touch my eyes what so ever till I washed my hands. At that point I decided to just use the rest of the bottle till I researched a new one to try....another bad idea. I began to get tiny whiteheads on my entire forehead, my chin, my cheeks and under my ears around my jaw. I never get whiteheads on those areas and have dry/normal skin that hasnt ever had any sensitivity issues either. I stopped using it the last 4 days and my skin is clearing up super fast needless to say I KNOW it was due to this stupid cheap CRAP (you wouldnt guess it was cheap by the $14-15 price tag). I absolutely HATE everything about it and if I could I'd take all the bottles of the shelves and trash them so nobody else has to even bother with this stuff. BACK ON THE HUNT...damnit!!! :(

Love it! One of my favorite Sephora blushes. Very pretty, natural flush with very subtle shimmer. Only con, I wish it was bigger! Although you really don't need too much so I can see this lasting awhile. Ill repurchase for sure! NC30 for reference.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Sweet Revenge Lipgloss
rated 4 of 5
hollywoodd 12/14/2010 9:37:00 AM

Kind of surprised by bad reviews, other than it being a little more drying than I would I like, I think this is just another great NARS gloss. Perfect for a 'natural' look without using just another borng 'nude' shade. Very pretty and flattering. A keeper after the bf even noticed it! NC30 for reference!

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Body Drench Lotion
rated 5 of 5
hollywoodd 9/19/2010 3:47:00 AM

I've been using this kinda off and on for OVER ten years. I first remember trying it when my mom took me to her tanning salon and it was in a ginormous bottle that they offered in the rooms as a free after tan moisturizer. It is without a doubt the BEST after tan lotion I have ever used. I'm definitely an obsessed tanorexic (bad I know but its my ultimate guilty pleasure I can't seem to shake!) so I've tried tonsss of 'after tan' lotions. I bought a new bottle of this yesterday and fell in love all over again. The smell is kind of powerful but honestly it reminds me of that day at the salon with my mom so I really love it! It's not greasy at all and has a medium thickness consistency. I will always have this in my bathroom and seriously, if you're a tanner...its a must have!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Proclaim Argan Oil - Hair Oil Treatment
rated 5 of 5
hollywoodd 9/19/2010 3:09:00 AM

oh my goodness I'm excited! I did something that ever since MUA came into my life I never do...I bought the little sample size bottle at sallys yesterday WITHOUT looking up any of the reviews on it first. I haven't used it yet but after reading all the positives below I'm so glad I did. I'm a marrakesh oil FREAK but if this is as good as ppl claim I'm looking forward to saving some money! Will update when I actually use this! UPDATE: IN-FREAKING-CREDIBLE. Ive used it four different ways and each one is just as fabulous as the other. 1. Used on my ends before getting in the shower 2. Immediately after shower and towel drying (great detangler too!) 3. After my hair was about 90% air dry (I stopped my 4-5x a week blow drying beginning of 2010 so now I only use the dryer if I'm in a real rush and even then I won't even turn it on till my hair has air dried for about 10 min. Fortunately my entire head of medium thickness dries in about 30 min tops!) 4. Used on my dry hair throughout the day for extra shine I really have nothing bad to say. Best way to explain the results? As if you just came upon a brand new full head of hair. YES it eliminates the frizz, adds serious shine, leaves hair feeling really lush and full and of course its as soft, (if not softer) than silk. I don't mind the smell, but then again I love the smell of Earthly Bodys Marrakesh Oil and I know a lot of people who hate it. Its kind of a 'natural' scent hard to explain. It lingers in your hair all day and all night but it is really light so unless you actually smell your hair, you may not even smell it. Ive had several compliments in just the last two days which makes me TRULY never want to be without this! *I'm a big sucker for the Chi Reconstructing serum also so I alternate it with this...if this went on my wet hair, Chi went on after it was dry but before the flat/curling iron and vice versa.* I'm in love and I know you will be too!

Palettes -Too Faced - Naked Eye Kit
rated 1 of 5
hollywoodd 9/19/2010 2:44:00 AM

1/18/11 UPDATE: Save your $$! Bottom line, all the shadows really are very pretty......in their PANS, in the pretty BOX. Once swiped on a brush and then your lid, primer or no primer, it's a huge let down. Unfortunately, not only do I stand by my previous review as far as all these shadows creating the same look but when I experimented incorporating these with shadows from other brands, it became even more clear to me just how low quality these are. Not nearly enough pigment in them, if at all. I'm a bit of a product hoarder, whether i really like the product or it gets used is irrelevant. HaHa. So I do still have mine tucked away and although I KNOW ill never use it again, I have a hard time imagining parting with the pretty packaging and as i said, the colors are pretty to look at in the pans. lol Anyway, if you're still interested in trying it for yourself i STRONGLY suggest getting it through a swap rather than paying the absolutely ridiculous retail price. Its actually kind of turned me off of anything by Too Faced. Im curious, how does everyone feel about the brand as a whole? Any products actually worth my $$? Bought this yesterday after my planned purchase of the UD Naked Palette was put on hold due to it being yet again, sold out. So I figured getting this Naked palette would hold me over till I could finally get my hands on the other. The colors really are gorgeous and I really really WANT to love it, but as someone else has said...they do tend to kind of all create the same look. I'm going to play around more and experiment with shadows outside this *pretty little box* and then I'm sure it will have lived up to the hype a little more. A primer with these is definitely a good idea and in the end, you don't get much product for the $35 you pay. Unsure at this time if I'd repurchase...

Moisturizers -Cerave - Moisturizing Lotion
rated 2 of 5
hollywoodd 7/20/2010 1:34:00 PM

While I've only been using this for a few days and therefore can't say much for any long term differences, I will say this: 1. Seems to absorb quickly 2. Doesn't have an actual fragrant to it but does smell kinda..weird? Reminds me of unscented candle wax lol but, TOLERABLE. 3. Maybe I got a bad bottle but it seems kinda runny. Almost like bad milk. Definitely not for someone looking for a rich, thicker, heavier cream. 4.$15 at CVS which I guess I can only say is an ok price for the size, not much else. 5. Seems to leave a waxy-ish residue that goes away shortly but then feels like I didn't put anything on. I find myself needing to reapply often to feel any sort of 'moisture' 6. If make-up is applied within minutes after putting Cerave on, it can be a decent primer. Seems to make foundation application pretty smooth. All in all, a few days in, I don't see the hype. I've even tried it on all areas and really don't see even so much as an immediate greatness about it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Et Tu, Bouquet?
rated 5 of 5
hollywoodd 7/12/2010 6:38:00 AM

I have been looking everywhere for this shadow as well as Of Summer. I know they were from the rose romance collection awhile back but some ppl have said they were able to track them down fairly recently. So far I've had zero luck. I am wanting them for a look I've been dying to try. Since ill probably be unable to get my hands on them, can anyone give some suggestions for current shadows that are similar to Et Tu Bouquet and Of Summer?? I would really appreciate it and if you have any idea where I might be able to still get them pleaseee let me know!! Thanks girls! :)

Lip Treatments -Neosporin - Lip Treatment
rated 4 of 5
hollywoodd 7/9/2010 8:26:00 AM

After having seriously looked for this stuff EVERYWHERE for MONTHS I almost gave up even trying to find it until I was in line at walgreens the other day and there was ONE random tube sitting in a box of gum by the cash register. Clearly someone had changed their mind about buying it but good for me! No joke I almost got a little teary eyed (you know when you see something on tv, hear about it all over, read rave reviews and think it could actually work for you but you just can't get your hands on it?? Plus I'm female, when we can't have something we want, we want it 10x more. It's very frustrating! lol) I went to look for it, found it in the BAND-AID section btw...and of course they were sold out of them as well as the overnight treatment. It's pretty thick and kinda sticky/goopy but it DOES work and fast. Taste is horrible but its very shiny, almost like a gloss. I will tell you though...I put more than normal the first night before bed and was told it looked like...semen all over my mouth. LMAO. EWWWWWW. so just beware, put it on lightly, rub it in with your finger & use a mirror!!
