Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dandelion

Perfect everyday blush for my nw15 skin. I've had this for two years and I'm guessing I can stretch this for another 3 or 4 months using it regularly. So, yes, it is expensive but when you factor in the number of applications it isn't bad at all. I don't detect any shimmer in mine. I took a lippie off for the packaging - it should be something more sturdy and portable. I'll probably buy something else when this runs out for that reason but if they changed the packaging I'd be all over it.

Foundations -E.L.F. - All Over Cover Stick in Fair
hollyfae 4/21/2010 7:08:00 PM
I love this. I just bought a new one (now the shade is called apricot beige) and could not be happier. I've used some pricey concealers (currently using up Erase Paste) and nothing beats this. Sure, it's thick, but you can work with it. I have dreadful dark circles (looks like I've been punched) and this works so well to mask them. I do find that I have to hold my fingers over the area after application to melt it slightly with my body heat, and do a bit more blending but it's perfection. Also regularly use it around my nose, and on my chin with no problems. I will be buying this as long as they are making it. HG.

Foundations -Revlon - ColorStay Mineral Mousse Makeup
hollyfae 4/21/2010 7:00:00 PM
Meh. The color match is one of the best I've found in a drug store foundation (010) but I never reach for this. The coverage isn't great, I don't find it buildable, and I - because of the strange way it settles on my skin - I find myself having to fuss with it constantly. I do love the packaging. I guess I was hoping for something a bit lighter than colorstay but this isn't it. I wont toss it but I wont buy it again.

Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Outlast Pressed Powder [DISCONTINUED]
hollyfae 2/19/2008 1:09:00 PM
I tried this based on reviews and couldn't be happier! I generally shy away from cover girl products (I think it was the only foundation that was available to me as a teen and I associate it with the dreaded orange mask of makeup so common in girls my age at the time) also, I tend to believe that you get what you pay for. Imagine my surprise when one of my favorite MUAers (don't know her but trust her judgment) reviewed this favorably... I rushed out and bought it and am very pleased. It's just enough to take the shininess away without looking powdery. I should mention that I don't have a big problem with looking greasy so I can't comment on how great it is at controlling oil. Also, I do have acne prone skin and this hasn't created any problems for me in the three weeks that I've been using it. While I do detest the packaging I will buy it again and again.

Liquid -Flirt - Act Natural Light And Sheer Foundation
hollyfae 2/19/2008 12:56:00 PM
This is the closest I've found to a HG. I'm very pale (don't know the codes, sorry) with redness on my chin and around my nose, as well as darkness and discoloration around my eyes. Since my love of makeup began I've looked for something that looked natural. I love that this is just enough coverage to even out my skin issues without covering my freckles or looking mask-like. It also remains ever-so-slightly dewy but isn't greasy. I use the lightest shade all over my face and don't bother with concealer (though on particular rough days I do use a bit of benefit's eye bright), with a little powder dusted over my t-zone I am good for the day. In response to some of the reviews below - it's my understanding that sun protection in fairly unstable in makeup so you should always use something in addition to your foundation - I do anyway. And if your definition of "classy" makeup is full coverage and/or matte then this is not what you're looking for. I'll continue to buy this and use it daily.

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Blackberry Amber
hollyfae 10/4/2007 9:38:00 PM
Finally - my overwhelming need to smell everything has paid off! Neither blackberry or amber are typically my friends - luckily for me this isn't a problem. If you like Prada or Euphoria this is for you, if you like foody/berry/heavy amber notes it's probably not. I'm extremely pleased with this surprisingly sophisticated (not to mention well priced) find and it has gotten me several compliments. What more can a girl ask for?

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Concentrated Duo - Mischief

I'm in love with this - specifically the champagne side. It's the perfect shade to brighten my lids and give them a bit of shimmer without looking too made up. I use it every day. I can't comment much on the blue, I've tried it once or twice - it's great I just don't have much use for it at this point. I'll buy this again. And again. love.

Lip Gloss -NYX - lipgloss-sweetheart
hollyfae 4/22/2007 12:21:00 PM
Hmm... maybe it's just me but this gloss is very frosted. I love the texture, and it smells like tootsie pops but the color is very pale and frosted, very 80s to me. I'll wear it a few more times and update.

Lip Gloss -NYX - MegaShine in Natural - 122
hollyfae 4/22/2007 12:13:00 PM
LOVE love love this! I've searched high and low for the perfect nude. Everything I've tried has been too pink, too brown, too orange, etc. against my PPP skin. This is so lovely, smells great, has a smooth texture, fantastic price for the amount of product. My only complaint is that I can't find it locally but I will happily order it from the website. I'd also highly recommend their website - an extensive array of products and they wrap everything in an adorable gift bag. I will buy this again and again.

Eye Shadow -Lancome - Maquiriche Eyeshadow- Honeymoon

Gorgeous creamy champagne, absolutely glows against my PPP skin. Got this in a GWP pallet and will purchase a full size very soon. Can't say enough about it.

Eye Shadow -Milani - Loose Eyeshadow Powder in Powder Puff
hollyfae 4/22/2007 12:01:00 PM
I've used this almost daily for about a year. I love it as a brow bone highlighter and on my cheeks. It's a shimmery white that works well with my PPP skin. The packaging leaves a bit to be desired but I've barely made a dent in it and for that price I really can't complain. I'll buy this again if I ever run out.

Makeup Brushes -Cover Girl - Big flat top powder brush
hollyfae 4/22/2007 11:57:00 AM
I use this all the time. Sure, it's more rough than I'd like but it works very well for the price. I'm getting ready to splurge on something higher quality for mineral makeup but this has done a decent job and held up well - no shedding.

Lipstick -MAC - Faux (satin)
hollyfae 4/22/2007 11:53:00 AM
I did a board search looking for a milky pink and this came up as a suggestion. It is neither on my skin. Against my PPP complexion this has a bit of an orange in it that doesn't work for me. I'm sure it would be brilliant on someone with more color to their skin but it's just so-so on me. EDIT: I've started to use this more. I dab it onto my lips and put a clear gloss over it - it turns into a very wearable nude/pink (which is hard with my pale coloring). For me less is more with this one.

Lipstick -Lancome - Le Rouge Absolu - Pink Diamond
hollyfae 4/22/2007 11:49:00 AM

I'm torn about this - absolutely love the color but the staying power isn't great and the price is a bit out there. I do reach for it a lot so I can't say I wont purchase (got it as a GWP). I don't mind the scent at all. I have a hard time imagining I would shell this much out ($24) for a lipstick but I'll update if I do. For now I'm very happy with my sample.

Lipstick -Sephora - Gloss Lipstick 27

glossy nude - a bit on the light side. pretty. I find the grape smell a bit annoying but it doesn't last long. I probably wont buy this again (just because there are so many things I want to try) but I can see myself using it up.
