Hair -Kenra - Platinum Hot Spray

I don't get all the haters here. I think this is a superior product. I use it mostly at the roots where I do mini crimping for volume. I find it sprays a very fine mist and I don't know how people are winding up with gluey, tangled hair. It dries quickly under heat, has great hold and leaves my hair shiny. Now, when I straight iron the rest of my hair, I do find it a bit grippy which can make my hair get those little ridges, so I just use a very light pressure to ensure a smooth glide. My hair is like a board but then a comb glides right through it and it is smooth, shiny and not at all tacky, has good swing and volume. What's not to love. I will report back if humidity is a problem. But so far this is a true love. My overall favorite hair care lines are Goldwell and Kenra, they seldom disappoint. I used to love Redken, but now all they do is get rid of one fabulous product for another useless, inferior replacement. I think it's run by chimps afflicted with ADD.

Styling Products -Kenra - Root Lifting Spray 13
rated 5 of 5
hollyc01 2/13/2013 10:02:00 PM

Holy Grail stuff for us fine thin haired girls. Comes out like a watery mousse. You are supposed to spray directly on roots but I dispense into my hand and apply at the roots where I want it. Gives super long lasting lift at the roots, makes my hair look 3x thicker, doesn't make it hard to brush. Just a terrific product that does EXACTLY what it says it will, Highly recommend if you have fine thin hair that just wants to lay flat and you're looking for big volume. LOVE it, must hoard multiple cans!

Fragrances -Narciso Rodriguez - eau de toilette

Gosh this is a confusing line, I just wish they would name their totally different scents, totally different names. Having said that the EdT (Black Bottle, Pink Box) is the real stunner in this line. I found the musk oil very fleeting and ordinary and the EdP an exact dupe of Agent Provocateur, very, very heavy on the rose. The EdT however is a winter scent for me. Heavy animalic sexy musk over florals and woods. This is a strong scent, but not obnoxious. Decent lasting power but not indelible. The scent is very come hither and is rich but mellow and somehow sexual at the same time. I really enjoy it occasionally. I feel it is destined to be a "vintage classic" 20 years from now is they don't fiddle with the formula . . . yeah right what are the chances of THAT not happening. We can always hope. This is not a scent for those that prefer "inoffensive" (offensive in MY book) tepid body spray chemical mish mashes. It's a real perfume that's going to be noticed.

Styling Products -Sebastian - Volupt Spray Gel

My Holy Grail. I have very fine limp hair that is thinning due to thyroid and this gives GREAT body without being tangly as you're trying to blowdry. Gave me great volume that lasted til the next morning and really, I didn't have to redo my hair, but did because I had some new products to try. Sorry that I did. My hair looked better on day 2 with Volupt than it did on day 1 with Goldwell Topwhip. I'm going to stock up on the Volupt cuz as soon as I love something they change it or discontinue it. Super awesome volume product. And did I mention my hair was shiny? What more could you ask.

Just the ticket to add volume at the roots when you're done styling. I love this. It sprays where I want it to, bit wet, but dries quickly, ruffle my fingers through my hair and I have crazy volume that just won't quit. Finally found my Holy Grail add in for volume. Mwa, mwa xxxxxxx LOVE!

Styling Products -Goldwell - Top Whip Volume Mousse
rated 2 of 5
hollyc01 2/3/2013 1:12:00 PM

This gives very mediocre volume for a product that is supposed to produce great results. I used quite a bit and it made my hair difficult to blowdry and I had to add their spray wax at roots to get the volume I wanted. Much, much, much prefer Sebastian Volupt Spray to this. Don't recommend.

Styling Products -Kenra - Mousse Wax

If I could give this a zero, I would. Hold? WHAT hold? Wax? Not Likely! Mousse? No volume AT ALL. My freshly washed hair was a greasy mess after I applied this at the roots. Thank got I had KMS dry shampoo or I would have had to start all over again. We're not talkin' next day hair here, more like next WEEK hair. I'm even going to have to wash my brushes and combs. I'm livid. Can ya tell?

Conditioner -TiGi - S Factor Serious Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
hollyc01 1/28/2013 7:19:00 AM

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this. I've been using for years and buy in quantity, it's just that good (and my cupboards are bulging with crap that didn't work). Anyway .. . . I have fine, delicate hair that is a challenge due to thyroid, I have to walk a fine line between conditioning and weighing my hair down. Well this conditioner gives my hair the strength and substance of a protein rich conditioner with moisturizing properties of a hydrating conditioner. I can use it quickly in the shower or use as a treatment with a cap and towel wrap it. When I use it, my hair has volume AND weight (normal hair is like cotton candy, no weight or swing . . . awful) But this really, really protects and beautifies my hair and doesn't seem to produce buildup. I'll be in the loony bin if they stop making this. Awesome, awesome product worth every single penny!!

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Divine -Divine
rated 5 of 5

I have to be in the mood for this but it is just gorgeous. Opens STRONG with aldehydes and tuberose, but also peach and spices and musk. It's very rich and somehow thick but utterly gorgeous and uncompromising. The drydown is the best part and I can smell it on clothes for days. Yes it is like Ysatis, but ever so much nicer, more sophisticated, more nuanced and the materials smell like they are of much better quality. Packaging is lovely and varied, you have a choice on their website and also it comes in extrait, always a big plus for me although I've yet to try it. Must check my piggy bank! Personally I can't believe how reasonable their prices are and the service is impeccable as is the packaging. Overall, a lovely perfume experience.

Yuck! And by the way, SHAME on you Chanel!!! To sully the name of Coco with this grape pop treacle fest is comtemptible. Best watch your step and remember your customers expect better of the name Chanel. Awaiting Les Exclusifs 1932 release with great anticipation (don't disappoint me!) And thank you for Cuir de Russie in EdT and Extrait (an absolute bargain), I still love you!

Lip Treatments -Merle Norman - Luxiva Lip Revive
rated 5 of 5
hollyc01 1/5/2013 11:30:00 PM

I am currently using a sample of this and will definitely buy when finished. It is a thin cream that you apply before any other lip product. This is NOT a balm ladies, it is a treatment to smooth the lip area and reduce fine lines and feathering and boy does it work! After I let it sink in I put on my lip liner, lipstick and/or gloss. My lips hold the colour much longer, there is no feathering and for some reason my lips actually look fuller. A total winner. When Merle Norman gets it right, they really get it right For instance I'm on my 5th jar of loose mineral foundation and I'm so picky, I usually never even finish what I get. Highly recommend this lip TREATMENT.

As another reviewer commented as well, this is one that I have used up and have rebought and will continue to and THAT's sayin' sumthin'! Great moisture and radiance and your salon/esthetician can add extra extracts to address areas of concern like moisture, radiance, firming, etc. So you get exactly what you need. Very good cream. I wake up with glowy skin when I use this.

BB Cream -Lioele - Triple Solution BB cream
rated 5 of 5
hollyc01 12/23/2012 8:07:00 AM

This stuff is really, really good. I was shocked actually because I tried a little pump on the back of my hand to see the colour and it looked really white. I thought noooooo, then a really nice esthetician told me it will actually meld with your own skin colour and did my face in it. WOW! My face looked airbrushed. This is thick and can be opaque if you want or semi-sheer if very lightly applied. I like a formal full coverage look and this does it for me. I also lightly dust a mineral powder foundation (iredale or la bella donna) on top to slightly adjust the colour depending on what my skin is doing that day. No one product does it all for me, it all requires slight tweaking, but this is lovely. AND later when I checked in the mirror, instead of looking like it needed touching up, it actually got nicer and nicer. Satiny, plumped skin that looked fabulous and flawless (almost). As a point of reference, I have tried the Iredale BB cream and had to buy two to mix to get the almost right colour and I found it very chalky and didn't seem to do my skin any favours. Over a few hours, pores and lines and shadows actually seemed emphasized with the Iredale. Highly, highly recommend the Lioele. Coverage, by the way is buildable and I was even able to add more over my powder near the end of the day when I did need refreshing and it blended in again seamlessly. This is really good stuff for anyone who wants a foundation with good, flexible coverage that beautifies the skin.

Treatments -Kerastase - Fibre Architecte
rated 5 of 5
hollyc01 12/6/2012 4:16:00 PM

This is the best serum I've ever used. Usually I can't use serums at all, they weigh down my wimpy, fine, thyroid challenged hair. But just a small 1/3 pump of this (size of 1/2 pea) from mid-length to ends and my dry tangly hair is smooth, combable but full of life and body. It swings and looks awesome. My hair actually has the texture of cotton candy. If someone exhales across the street, it blows it away! ha ha, but not wiith this, just lovely! If you usually can't use serums, try this.

Styling Products -Matrix - Biolage - Thermal-Active Setting Spray
rated 5 of 5
hollyc01 11/27/2012 7:30:00 PM

Oh my God I love this stuff. I have very fine limp hair and I always want volume. I spritz this in on damp hair at the crown and sides and blow dry. It gives tremendous hold and grip that lasts TWO DAYS. It is not even slightly greasy, my hair looks clean the next day. I ruffle my fingers through at the roots next day and voila! gorgeous voluminous hair (and trust me, I don't have naturally gorgeous voluminous hair). I've tried sooooo many products and this one beats them all. Reasonably priced at $17 for a good sized bottle that should last a while.
