Powder -Revlon - ColorStay Aqua Mineral Makeup
rated 3 of 5
hobosmiles 12/9/2012 2:05:00 PM

Just a heads up to those who love this, the light shade is on clearance at CVS for about 3 dollars! I bought this because it sounded like Mac's Magically Cool Powder from the Venomous Villians Collection- a product that I missed out on.): Right off that bat, I can say that I appreciate the brush that Revlon has put on it. It works well when you're applying this as a foundation, but not so much a finishing powder. It's small, compact, soft and easy to wash. When using the product, the "aqua" feeling is very obvious and prevalent. It feels as though you're using a wet brush. For some, this may feel disgusting, but I think it's kind of cool. lol. It offers nice, buildable coverage that lasts for a pretty long time. The only con is the shimmer. When building the coverage, you're also building the shimmer, and there will come a point where your face will look like you covered it in highlighter. Working in an office with flourescent lights, the shimmer is very obvious. It's a shame because I liked everything except the shimmer!): Now I'll just use it as a very subtle highlighter and under eye finishing powder.

Powder -Cargo - Cargo Blu-Ray High Definition Powder Makeup
rated 4 of 5

MAGICAL POWDER. This powder must have been handcrafted by fairies using unicorn horn and crushed diamonds. It blurs my face, making it look airbrushed, it eliminates flaws, hides fine lines, brightens my skin, makes me look glowing- yet matte! IT'S SO AMAZING. I can't stop fan girling over it! I just use the Sigma F80 and stipple over top of my foundation, and I look super awesome. The only problem I have with it is that it kind of settles in the crack between my nose and my face. I'm pretty sure it's because I get obsessed with putting it on and can't stop. It's like crack. Magical face powder crack. Go get you some.

Powder -NYX - Stay Matte but not Flat Powder Foundation
rated 2 of 5
hobosmiles 12/2/2012 12:43:00 AM

The name of this powder was music to my ears. When I first heard about it I was hoping it would be a magical powder created by the make up fairies to make everybody look beautiful. The name implies that you're matte and glowing at the same time- SOUNDS SO AMAZING.In reality it should be called "The Really Matte Powder That Doesn't Make You Glow, But Instead Makes You Sparkle". It's the Revlon Photoready problem all over again! It doesn't have some magical glow property, but instead is infused with sparkles. The few times I wore this outside my boyfriend asked if I put shimmer powder on my face... this is coming from the man who can't notice the difference between eyes with and without make up on, bless his poor soul. Also, it's not a powder foundation by any means. It literally has like zero coverage. Actually... it's coverage is sparkles. lol. Anyways, don't waste your time with this. It's kind of awful. I recommend Cargo Blu-Ray powder. More expensive, but magical stuff. Sooo magical.

Eyeliner -New York Color - Show Time Glitter Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
hobosmiles 12/2/2012 12:35:00 AM

After switching from glasses to contacts my eyes changed and became super watery. I found that my normal eyeliner, the Urban Decay 24-7 pencil, didn't hold up to the waterline challenge. After a few hours, the eyeliner would migrate to underneath my eyelash line on my outer corners giving me some weird, cat eye raccoon eye. lol. I began to test all my black liner in my stash and this one performed suprisingly well. I thought it wouldn't work well on the water line because of the glitter, but the glitter is really tiny and you can't even feel it. The texture is creamy, but nowhere near as creamy and soft as UD 24-7. For me, this is a positive though! This lasts pretty well, and when it fades it fades evenly. The biggest plus is that it doesn't gather or smudge!

Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Color Sensational High Shine Lip Gloss
rated 3 of 5
hobosmiles 12/2/2012 12:24:00 AM

After reading the rave reviews on these lip glosses I absolutely had to have them. I did some magical coupon improv and got 2 for $5. I bought Luminous Latte, which is a shimmery, midtone nude, and I also got Electric Shock, which is a bright pink with no shimmers. While these do have a creamy, non sticky texture and come in beautiful colors, the big turn off for me is the smell and taste. I keep hearing that they smell and taste like fruit loops.- no. not for me, at least. Mine smell and taste exactly like soap! I'm usually not too sensitive with smells and tastes but this one lasts forever! Hopefully I just got a bad batch or something, but that has turned me off from buying anymore. I own too many lip glosses that I love to waste money buying something I'm not a big fan of. I'll admit they're good, just not good enough!

Brows -E.L.F. - Eyebrow Kit
rated 4 of 5
hobosmiles 12/2/2012 12:17:00 AM

While everybody in the world complains about their sparse brows, I'm the exact opposite. Blessed with thick, dark and unruly eyebrows, I require some product to maintain and groom them- or else I look like Oscar the Grouch. While the unruliness of the hairs is definitely a problem, the biggest irritation with my brows are the bald spots... yep, I have a tiny patch in each eyebrow where the hair grows different. I fill the spots in so that they don't stick out like a sore thumb from the rest of my brow. lol. After years of using powders, which i definitely like, I was feeling stir crazy. I needed new brow products or else I would just die. I saw the ELF brow kit at my Kmart for $1, so i decided to pick it up. Brought it home and guess what? I bought light. LIGHT. LIGHT for my DARK eyebrows. Then I opened and saw the wax and it dawned on me. The wax is pretty dark, but the powder is light. Even though my brows are dark, the wax is still dark enough. I find that it lasts all day, looks natural, blends in and doesn't look likes there's heaps of product in my brows. The only con is that if I don't wash it off good enough it causes tiny blemishes in my eyebrows, which is really weird. lol. I have super sensitive skin, so don't worry, it's probably just me. Anyways, it's good for the price. If you see a different color on sale somewhere, I recommend picking it up because it just may work.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Trio - Silent Treatment
rated 5 of 5
hobosmiles 11/26/2012 11:09:00 PM

The quality in this palette is absolutely outstanding! All 3 colors are soft, richly pigmented, and long lasting. The taupe is some magical color that instantly makes anyone look better. Personally, I stay away from any color that's gray based because they make me look like death... lol. Not the case with this one! The taupe contrasts with my eyes and hair color and makes them look brighter! It's perfect in deep, smokey looks, as well as bright- but where it really shines is simple looks. Just a wash of the taupe over the lid, with some smudgy liner and mascara- perfection! For girls with brown eyes, pair it with purples! It's so pretty!(:

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Sparkle til Morning (limited edition)
rated 3 of 5
hobosmiles 11/25/2012 10:43:00 PM

While I love WNW shadows I cannot recommend this palette as almost every single shade exists in other palettes, the same problem I had with the Shimmer the Night Away palette. The left browbone shade is a shimmery pale yellow. It's also in the Comfort Zone Palette (8 pan), and Vanity (6 pan). The left eyelid shade is a midtone shimmery gold. I don't believe that this is repeated. The left crease shade is a coppery pink. It's the same as the single Penny. The left definer shade is a beautiful turquoise. It's also in the Blue Had Me at Hello Palette (8 pan). The right browbone is a pale tan-ish pink. It's also in the trio Walking on Eggshells. The right eyelid shade is a beautiful orange-y gold. It's also in the trio I'm Getting Sunburned. The right crease shade is a shimmery mid tone brown. It's also in the trio Walking on Eggshells. The right definer shade is a dark brown with red and gold shimmers. It's also in the The Comfort Zone Palette (8 pan) as well as the I'm Getting Sunburned trio. I want to let you know that I own each and every one of these shades and swatched every single one of them. They're not simply close in color, they're the exact same shade. While occasional repeats are acceptable, I feel that WNW was just lazy with this palette as they simply repackaged other shades. If the convenience of the palette is worth owning multiples of the same shade, or if you don't own many WNW palettes than it's definitely worth it- unfortunately for me it wasn't ): Hope this helped!

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Shimmer the Night Away Palette
rated 3 of 5
hobosmiles 11/25/2012 10:31:00 PM

I am completely obsessed with Wet n' Wild eyeshadows. I find that they're buttery, long lasting and pigmented. Most shades are unique and they come in a variety of finishes. After seeing the promos for this palette I had to have it. While I'm not big on silvers and black, I absolutely love Wet n' Wilds purples! After hunting it down and finally finding it... I was so disappointed! While the quality is there and the formula is the same, the shades in Shimmer the Night Away exist in other WNW palettes! Every. Single. Shade. If you're a big WNW lover, there's no use in having this palette as chances are you already own the exact eyeshadow! I've decided to do a break down of each shade so you can decide wether or not you need this palette. I'm going to start on the left side and work my way down, the continue to the right side. Browbone on the left is a shimmery white. It's in many other WNW palettes including Blue Had Me At Hello (8 pan), Pride (6 Pan), and I'm Feeling Retro (trio) Eyelid on the left is a midtone shimmer grey. It's in Blue Had Me at Hello (8 pan) and Spoiled Brat (trio) Crease on the left is a black with rainbow sparkles. It's in Petal Pusher (8 pan) and Greed (6 pan) Definer on the left is a black with silver sparkles. It's in many other palettes including Blue Had Me at Hello (8 pan), Spoiled Brat (trio), and Don't Steal My Thunder (trio). Browbone on the right is a pale lavender pink with an almost gold duochrome. It's the sheerest and driest of the bunch. It's dupe is the eyelid shade in Petal Pusher (8 pan) and the single in Kitten. Eyelid on the right is a bright pink with a blue duochrome. It's also in the I'm Feeling Retro trio. Crease on the right is a shimmery purple. It's the same as the single in Glamrock, as well as the LE Fauna trio. Definer on the right is a bright shimmery indigo. It's the perfect mix of both blue and purple. It's the same as the single in Stagedive, I want to let you know that I own each and every one of these shades and swatched every single one of them.

Eyeliner -E.L.F. - Cream Eyeliner - All Colors
rated 3 of 5
hobosmiles 11/2/2012 7:45:00 PM

I've always been a really big fan of gel eyeliners and cream eyeshadows as they have so many uses! I love to use them under corresponding eyeshadow shades for a little bit of extra pigmentation and staying power. After seeing the awesome range of shades from ELF, I thought they'd be perfect for my uses... but they're not!): I find the texture to be dry and hard, even when brand new. They skip, and tug on the eyelid and are impossible to blend. Some shades stain my eyelid while others don't even show up. Black is pretty good. Fairly dark and lasts all day. The only con is that it dries up ridiculously fast. I think these would be good for people new to gel eyeliner to experiment with technique and to see if they like them.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous in Carbon Black
rated 2 of 5
hobosmiles 11/2/2012 7:22:00 PM

I believe that mascara is something very personal and different for each person. Personally, I prefer a thickening mascara that's black, lasts all day and doesn't clump. When I heard all the rave reviews on Voluminous Carbon Black I thought it sounded perfect! I bought it... and I hate it. ): Typically when I don't like a mascara I just layer it with better mascaras to make it work. This one... just no. It's so awful! The formula is black, I'll give it that. It's also so wet that it just weighs my lashes down. They literally flop. lol. Also, the brush combined with the wetness just creates clump city! Usually, I'm fine with clumps, but this literally gives me the appearance of like, 6 lashes. I tried seperating with a lash comb but it still looks goofy. The worst part about this mascara though, is that it doesn't dry. Hours after application, my lashes feel gooey. They kind of stick to the bottom lashes and smear. I've never had that problem! I thought that after a few weeks the formula would dry out and all of my problems would disappear. Nope. Weeks after having been opened it's still as wet as the day I bought it. (for some people though, that's a great thing! It just means it lasts longer!)

Eyes -Essence - volumizing lash powder
rated 5 of 5
hobosmiles 11/2/2012 7:10:00 PM

After buying Too Faced Better Than False Lashes and becoming obsessed, I realized I'd need a substitute and fast- it's wayy to expensive to love that much! After searching, I finally found a substitute in Essence's Voluminizing Lash Powder! Too Faced comes in a mascara container with a mascara wand, the consistency is similar to spider webs... lol. The Essence one comes in a little jar with a seperate wand. The jar is so full that the wand doesn't fit! Also, dunking the wand in results in a crazy amount that just ends up on your cheeks!): My solution?- I dunk the tip of the wand it, and tap over a post it note. After tapping, all excess falls off. I then lightly swirl this in the powder on the post it note. When finished I just bend the post it and pour back in the bottle! My technique for layering this is pretty simple. For the first coat, use a dry, lengthening mascara. You want it to be just wet enough so that the fibers stick, but not so wet that it just clumps and falls down. After waiting for the fibers to dry, coat with a wetter, more fluid mascara. Using one like that traps in the fibers and evenly coats them. I'd recommend everybody try this. It has a learning curve, but it's so ridiculously cheap and the results are visible!(:

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow in Gold Shimmer
rated 5 of 5
hobosmiles 11/1/2012 10:20:00 PM

I've been a big fan of the Color Tattoos since they came out, and this is the best one yet! It applies like a dream, lasts all day, and blends easily. The shade is a deep green based gold- it's so beautiful! I wish it wasn't limited edition! ):

Lip Treatments -Jack Black - Intense Therapy Lip Balm spf 25
rated 2 of 5
hobosmiles 10/27/2012 9:23:00 PM

My lips are naturally dry, sensitive, and prone to cracking/peeling/chapping. So far, my favorite lip balm CO Bigelow's My Favorite Night Balm. After years of using it, I was looking for something new and heard about this balm from Temptalia. I bought it, used it, and gave it away. It left an awful, almost waxy feeling to my lips. It didn't moisturize at all, and once it wore away, my lips were drier than the beginning. -__- Also, it smells like straight up licorice, and stings upon application.

Blush -LORAC - exposed baked matte satin blush
rated 5 of 5
hobosmiles 10/24/2012 8:50:00 PM

Exposed is a peachy blush with fine shimmer. Unlike other blushes with shimmer, Exposed somehow doesn't have shimmer particles... it just glows! It's very pigmented and beautiful!- in fact, it's everything I thought NARS Orgasm would be. It works on all skin tones, lasts all day and comes with heaps of product. Definitely recommend! Only one problem though! Make sure not to contour when wearing this. The combination of the blush with other bronzers makes an orange streak where they meet? Just beware, maybe it's just my bronzers!
