Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy

This stuff made my scalp burn and itch and also made my hair feel dry. I'm probably going to throw it in the garbage. At least it made me realize how good my other shampoos are (renpure products).

Cleansers -Shiseido - Pureness Deep Cleansing Foam

This is one of the best scrubs I've ever used. I use it a few times a week (as to not strip the skin too much). A little bit of it goes a long way in cleansing your entire face. I think I would buy this item again.

Shampoo -Batiste - Dry shampoo - Brunette

My only expectation of using this product is that it can transform my greasy/gross hair into clean looking haiir in a short period of time. I looked for this stuff for a while and got it for 5.99 at tjmaxx last week. I had a hectic week, got home late last night, had meetings today and woke up with my regular greasy hair... until I used this stuff... now it looks kinda dried out, but honestly? What do you exepect out of a dry shampoo anyway? It's supposed to soak up the grease somehow! Anyway, this worked fast and I am in love with this product! I think I'll order a crate of it!!!! Holy Grail!

Mascara -Jordana - Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara
rated 5 of 5
helster83 1/12/2013 3:35:00 PM

Pro: 1) Inexpensive 2) No gloop 3) Nothing flakes into my eyes 4) Pretty good staying power 5) Does the job of making my lashes more noticeable (obvious plus) Con: Hard to find (only sold at walgreens... and even then is very difficult to find in walgreens) Shelf life is a little bit shorter than all my other mascaras (but at the price who cares, right?) Mascara pump is cheap and leaves excess mascara on top

Self Tanners -Bare Escentuals - Faux Tan
rated 5 of 5

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this self tanner!! I have cool- fair skin with freckles (when I tan I'm a very pale beige) and this tanner blends in quite naturally with my freckles and looks like a realistic tan for me. I apply this with a mit and couldn't be happier with it. For a small bottle of it, there is a lot of product to spread around.

Palettes -BeneFit Cosmetics - Smokin' Eyes
rated 4 of 5

- I LOVE the tweezers (and how the case is magnetic so that you als cannot lose the tweezers easily). - Surprisingly the brushes are great quality, makes the eyeshadows blend easily and smoothly. - The eye pencil is ok, it's nothing special but good for travel. - I like how it's a 2 in 1 kind of kit in for eyelids and eyebrows. - The colors are good, the pewter isn't too dark, I can conceivably wear these shades during the daytime without it being too much, but looks like the color saturation can be adjustable for night time use. I bought this for travel use because it's small in size and has a lot of stuff included.

Concealers -Tarte - Smooth Operator - Amazonian clay waterproof concealer
rated 5 of 5
helster83 4/11/2012 7:00:00 PM

I really like this product. 1) I haven't had the cakiness/crepiness problem under my eyes so far 2) I've had it on for the last 6-7 hours and it's still as is (granted I applied my MAC setting powder and the weather is neither hot nor cold, and it is sunny out) 3) Covers well enough, granted there are no yellow pigments to counteract my dark blue eye circles. I bought this in fair, and even for my pale (almost transparent) skin tone, it is a tad light, but in all honestly I was kind of hoping to find an under eye concealer that is a little lighter anyway. I also have benefits erase paste that I'll use to correct of the blue. Anyway, this formula by tart is not drying and looks natural on my skin. The price is towards the high end, but I have no complaints here. Quick update: went to the gym after I wrote this review, I spent about an hour working the cardio machines and sweated, under eye concealer held up pretty well for me :)

Concealers -Almay - line smoothing concealer
rated 3 of 5
helster83 4/2/2012 8:33:00 PM

So, I have dark blue under eye circles and fair skin. This form of coverage doesn't really do a great job at concealing them, in fact, I notice the darkness (due to contrast) more because the pigment is a bit light. I figured that I'd try correcting the blue color (with my benefit corrector) first, then trying the almay concealer over. I'm still trying to work it out, but results are okay at best. What I do like about the formula is the caffeine, cucumber, red/black/white teas and caffeine used. I also like that the formula is thin enough to not make the fine lines near my eyes cakey or creppy. It does look pretty natural on my skin, is quite blendable and doesn't appear drying to skin, and stays put for hours. For $6, it's not the worst concealer I've ever used, but doesn't offer as much coverage to be effective for my skin. Overall results are okay.

Love it!! Tiffany blue is my favorite color. I put in 2 coats, the finish is glossy. No issues with chipping yet (this is my second day so far). I'll probably be wearing this color often!

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
rated 3 of 5
helster83 3/19/2012 10:08:00 PM

Pro's: 1- the color matches my skin tone perfectly 2- looks really great Con's: 1- breaks my skin out the next day 2- you really can't wear this foundation all day without your skin becoming an oil slick I don't think the foundation is very breathable (I'm used to regularly wearing my smashbox bb cream which IS very breathable for skin, among other skin-health benefits for me). This is a foundation (along with my MAC) that is something I only wear for events or special occasions for a couple of hours at a time (4-5 at most). After I apply this stuff, my skin looks awesome because it blends into my skin so perfectly. Would I buy it again? I don't know, I think I'm going to hold onto the one I got for a while anyway.

Cleansers -Ponds - Original All Day Clean with Vitamin E
rated 5 of 5
helster83 3/2/2012 1:17:00 PM

My skin loves these towelettes. I use them practically every night to clean makeup off my skin, and because of that... 1) My skin NEVER breaks out 2) It's perfectly moisturized even after I wake up in the morning 3) Texture/color of skin look GREAT! ...so, whenever I use a regular cleanser on my skin before going to sleep I have to say that I usually develop a zit around my face the next day. With these wipes it practically never happens. So I'll continue to buy, buy, buy...

Liquid -Stila - Perfect & Correct Foundation
rated 4 of 5
helster83 2/13/2012 12:25:00 PM

I wear the color in fair (lightest shade). Anyhoo, the color has a very yellow undertone to it. My skin tone is fair/pink/reddish, so having a light yellow based foundation is a nice neutralizer to my skin. The texture feels very soft on my face. I actually borrowed my matron of honor's bottle of it at my wedding (actually right before the reception began) and my skin looked AMAZING in the photos. I can see the difference in my wedding photos before & after. The texture is very creamy. The only downside I found to this foundation is that it lacks adequate SPF (actually the product label does say that it MAY contain titanium dioxide, etc). It's kind of why I go back and forth to using my Smashbox photo ready BB cream (it has spf 35 in it).

BB Cream -Smashbox - Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35
rated 5 of 5
helster83 1/25/2012 4:59:00 PM

I've been using the sample for 2 weeks, interchangably with Stila Perfect and Correct. They are both comparable because they are light-medium coverage, all in one kind of deals. Anyway, there are 2 great points about the smashbox bb cream: 1) spf 35, 2) it feels like i'm wearing nothing at all on my skin. My usual issue with skin foundations is that it looks cakey due to my oily skin, the smashbox bb cream does not cause an oily mess on my face. Excellent. Only gripes: 1) Smashbox makes all these vague claims, with how it's a 5 in one: hydrates, primes, perfects, controls oil, and protects. Hydrates? I don't know, I find it rather drying actually. Primes, maybe, haven't tried it but I'm sure it'll work. Perfects? I dunno about that either. Controls oil: yes, protects: yes (it's SPF 35). 2) It's not easily spreadable. I end up using a lot of it to get it around my entire face. 3) It's only 1oz for $40. Pretty freaking expensive. Overall: I think it's versatile in the sense that it can be used alone or with another foundation. For my skin, I like the fact that it makes my skin feel like I'm wearing zero makeup at all throughout the day. There is no runny, oily mess on my face (although my T zone does tend to get pretty oily regardless, it has been much more manageable). There is no cakiness or dryness of the skin. I don't think this is for everyone. It won't conceal your imperfections as much as MAC studio concealer, it won't cure your cystic acne (although it might be better than other foundation chioces for your skin), it also won't cure your dry skin (might make it worse). Update: I've gone back and forth with different products. I have found that the other products look a bit cakey on my skin and caused a few stray pimples to pop up on my face. Every time I return to the smashbox bb cream, my skin texture just feels better and the pimples start to dry up. I just wish there was more than 1oz in the tube! It's my official everyday tinted moisturizer. 5 lippies as of today.

Primer/ Corrector -Urban Decay - De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray
rated 4 of 5
helster83 1/15/2012 12:00:00 PM

The oil on my forehead does rival a small OPEC nation. I bought this last week after giving it considerable research. From my first experience using the setting spray, I wasn't that impressed. It did control most of the oil for a few hours, but that's about it. I've been using it consistently though, it doesn't completely control the oil for 16 hours as stated on the label. However, the makeup looks better on my face for the duration of the whole day and my makeup feels weightless. My skin also feels extremely soft. As a whole I've been spending a heck of lot less time applying makeup since using this, and I like the feel of my skin a lot more.
