Cleansers -Noxzema - Original Skin Cream

I use this in the morning when Benzoyl peroxide has really made my face super flaky and itchy. It feels really nice massaged in and leaves my skin smooth for makeup application. I don't mind the tub because my hands are always clean when I'm washing my face. The only reason I would not repurchase is because I use it so infrequently and I my go-to is Murad Clarifying Cleanser.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Posietint
heavyboots 1/4/2012 11:13:00 AM
I use this very often, whenever I do not feel like wearing lipstick, but still want to look polished. I just swipe some chapstick underneath, and a small layer of posietint over. It lasts about 2-3 hours that way. It works really well as a cheek stain in the spring and summer, but I do not usually use it for that purpose. If you are unsure about shelling out the money for this, I would recommend trying the feelin' cheeky minis in Sephora - they last a very long time. I really like the shiny packaging, but I wish you could see how much product you have left, as in the case of benetint.

There isn't anything that hasn't been said before, but I also love this product and use it daily as my makeup consists of lipstick and mascara on my upper eyelashes. If you're on the fence about purchasing, I would suggest getting the .13 fl oz./ 4.0 mL first- I have had it for over 9 months and have yet to make a dent in it.

Blush -NYX - Red *Updated Color*
heavyboots 1/4/2012 11:05:00 AM
I really wanted NARS Turkish Red cream blush but I wasn't willing to pay so much for it at the time so I opted for NYX. It's not a dupe in the least, but I guess I was just tired of pink blushes and wanted a change. This looks really natural when applied sparingly - and I mean sparingly! In fact, one full swipe of the blush is too much, I lightly dip my brush into the product and then swipe the excess on my hand. Then I blend outward really well so it looks like a natural flush. I completely agree with the other reviewers that it is a perfect Snow White tinge and looks like you have just been out in the cold for a bit. You get quite a bit of product and I even think this would last much more than a year, even with daily use. Even so, I would repurchase, and I will definitely be delving into other shades for NYX :]

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Turmeric
heavyboots 1/2/2012 11:49:00 AM
I mix turmeric powder with a tiny bit of water using a q-tip and then apply it to acne scars with the same. I have tried leaving it on overnight, but I think it sort of defeats the purpose as you cannot will yourself to sleep on your back the entire night. I have marks on my right cheekbone, and I found that turmeric only transferred onto my ear by the morning, making it so difficult to remove. Usually, I put it on when I know I don't have to go anywhere the rest of the day, so I can leave it on for as many hours as I can stand. If you mix it with ACV instead of water, the smell definitely lingers, but with water, there is virtually no discernible scent. I take it off with water and soap, and a bit later, I use my Queen Helene mint mask on the same spots. Once it dries, I find that it takes off much of the yellow tinge left on my skin. I always wait at least 30 minutes after to try to wash it away because it cannot be done at once! You will only irritate your skin if you try, which is why you should only use this if you have nowhere to be! I notice a slight fading of my scars after using turmeric twice, so I will definitely keep using it. Rose hip oil is the only other product that has worked on my acne scars, I massage it into my skin for as long as I can (I usually watch tv while doing so, for about 30 minutes), and I have seen results after about 2 weeks. As another reviewer said, it is best to wash away the excess in a stainless steel sink, as it does stain otherwise! And if you don't have an Indian grocery near by, you can always purchase the McCormick spice in any chain grocery store - it's about $3 for 26 grams and a little goes a long way, and it is just as potent.

Treatments -AMBI - Fade Cream
heavyboots 12/30/2011 11:41:00 AM
I bought this with the idea of using it just for a month due to the active ingredients in it. I am very fair and no matter what I do/don't do, every single pimple leaves a long-lasting dark mark on my skin. I have two marks on my left cheek and a couple on my right cheekbone that I hoped this product would remove. I could not find it in any Walgreens, CVS, or any other drug store, so I resorted to purchasing it off of the Ambi website - the shipping was free, the product came out to $5.49, and I received it within 5 days. I used it as directed for about 5 days, but I immediately noticed bumps forming around the areas where I applied the cream. I thought nothing of it at first, but as this product was the only change in my regimen, it was clearly the culprit. I have decided to only use it on ONE mark for the remainder of the time (month) in order to see if it will be able to fade it, even slightly. There was a faint scent, but nothing at all unbearable as described by other reviewers - it actually smells faintly of shampoo, a light cosmetic scent that is not irritating and fades almost immediately upon application. You need to apply a really thin layer; otherwise, the product will ball up and won't sink into your skin. I will update in a month - If this fades one of my marks, I will consider using it for other acne scars. For right now, I said no to repurchasing because this tube will last a very long time, but I may change my response if it turns out to work. Let's hope it does!

Other -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly with cocoa butter
heavyboots 12/30/2011 11:34:00 AM
I don't use this for removing makeup, but I usually put it under my eyes at night in the wintertime, as my eyes tend to get really dry and irritated in the cold weather. I also put it on my outer eyelashes at bedtime. Great for softening, moisturizing cuticles as well.

I just love love love this perfume! HG! I knew I had to have it when I took a whiff of it in a magazine about 4 years ago. The words that come to mind when putting this perfume on are delicate and comforting and the rich vanilla note really lingers. Pretty long lasting on the skin, and in fact, I can still smell it on my winter scarf from last year. This is my favorite DK scent and I will continue to repurchase. The only thing that bothers me is the bottle shape/design, I wish they would update it.

Fragrances -Prada - Infusion d'iris edp

I love this perfume! Like some other reviewers said, I could see myself wearing this on my wedding day. A fresh, clean yet complex scent that gets better as the day goes on. It wears pretty close to the skin which I am fan of, since I don't like cloying and overwhelming scents. I got a pretty generous sample of this but I would certainly purchase as soon as I run out. The price is very reasonable as you only need a spritz or two.

Everyone's body chemistry is different, but this smells lovely on me. It's not a fancy or complex scent by any means, just comforting and sweet, but on me, not overly so. Not my HG but I do wear it very often so I would definitely repurchase.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Mauve
heavyboots 11/14/2011 9:44:00 AM
I like this lipstick a lot. I have a lot of mauve lipsticks and glosses and this is my favorite. The color is pretty true to the swatch on the cap, and it's matte, which I love. It's similar to my lip color but has pink undertones and it is easy to layer. It's also surprisingly moisturizing (I forgo wearing balm underneath) and it doesn't accentuate creases or settle in the lines. I got it for $3 at Target, I will definitely repurchase.

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar
heavyboots 11/14/2011 9:33:00 AM
Can't believe I haven't already written a review for this. It's my HG toner! I started off by using very modest and diluted ratio, about 4:1. Over the course of a couple of weeks, as I saw that my face was not getting irritated, I upped the ACV, and I am currently at 70% vinegar, 30% water. I find this works best at actually toning but not causing redness; this was a bit of a surprise because I have extremely sensitive and acne-prone skin. I have moderate acne and I did experience a purging period, which was not unbearable, and I came out on the other side with much less blackheads and acne. My skin is now relatively calm with pimples around that TOTM. I will never stop using this - everything about this product is amazing, the price is right, and I can live with the smell because I only use it before bed. It goes away as soon as the ACV sinks into your skin, anyway. I definitely recommend this product.

Foundations -Almay - Nearly Naked bottle version
heavyboots 11/12/2011 10:46:00 AM
I used to love this foundation. Buff 140 was a perfect match for my skin and it didn't break me out, make my face shiny, and it lasted all day. The packaging was kind of poor- I would have liked a pump as to not waste product and make it easy to get all of the foundation out in the end. This has really light coverage, which is now sadly not enough to cover my scarring. I've moved on to Physicians Formula. I actually might repurchase this when light coverage is what I need, but for now, I put no.

Polishes -Rimmel - Lasting Finish Pro - Crushed Pearl
heavyboots 11/12/2011 10:37:00 AM
I love love love this polish! It's such a sophisticated color and it works well even with my pale coloring. It doesn't last 10 days as advertised, but I can get about 5 days wear out of it. I need about 2 or 3 layers but it dries quick. Well worth the money and I love the look of the bottle and the tiny Rimmel crown on the applicator, so cute.
