Masks -Dermalogica - Skin Hydrating Masque
heavanlyblue 10/3/2011 3:59:00 AM
Love this masque. I have oily, breakout prone skin and it gives me a great hydration boost when my anti-acne products dry me out. It absorbs in almost completely, then you can feel it rehydrate when you rinse it off. It has never aggravated any breakouts I'm sure someone with dry skin wouldn't like it- it's not THAT hydrating. It's completely oil free, so someone with true dry skin needs OIL. They'd be better off with a richer, creamier mask. (This probably explains the low ratings!) This is for skin that is DEHYDRATED... it's a boost of hyaluronic acid, panthenol, silk aminos... lots of great hydrating ingredients that wont break you out!

Scrubs -Dermalogica - The ultimate buffing cloth
heavanlyblue 9/25/2011 11:59:00 PM
Used this for the first time and it was AWESOME! The long length helped me get the hard to reach places on my lower back, and also was great to get my feet, behind my ankles and the back of my neck. It was really invigorating. I used it with Dermalogica body wash and it smells like minty lavender... love it! I'm buying one of these for my boyfriend now!

Treatments -Dermalogica - MAP-15 regenerator
heavanlyblue 7/12/2011 1:47:00 AM
LOVE THIS! I use it on breakouts to help speed healing and lessen the pigmentation that I usually get after they heal. During a recent crazy breakout I used this on one spot and not the other and while the healing time wasn't dramatically different, it was slightly better on the one treated with MAP 15. What I'm excited about is that there's almost ZERO discoloration where that spot used to be! I usually pigment badly with breakouts so I'm totally on board with this stuff. Will always keep it on hand! I've started also using it around my eyes under my eye cream :)

Treatments -SkinMedica - RETINOL COMPLEX
heavanlyblue 11/25/2010 1:49:00 AM
I work for a cosmetic dermatologist and this is one of the products we carry. I'm a big fan of the SkinMedica line in general, and this product in particular. It's a very well tolerated yet concentrated retinol product. I am pretty sensitive especially around my mouth/chin, yet this has never caused me any peeling, redness or irritation. Our rep said it is comparable in strength to a .05% retin-a but much more gentle because it is in a 12 hour timed release formulation. I always use this at night, and I put it on cleansed, bare skin. I let it absorb for a few minutes (usually while I brush my teeth then apply my latisse), then I moisturize. I plan on continuing with this product, and the only reason I can think of switching is if I decided to try their higher concentration retinol product!

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Lotion
heavanlyblue 3/16/2010 2:30:00 AM
HG all the way. I spent my entire preteens, teens and adult life struggling with acne and this was the first face lotion that TRULY does not break me out. Now, I know that everyone reacts differently and what works for one person may not work the same for someone else. However, for ME and my super acne prone skin, this has been the best moisturizer ever! It says on the package that it is non comedogenic which means it does not contain pore clogging ingredients. I find it to be hydrating without being too heavy or greasy. I love how cheap it is, especially considering I would spend $100+ on expensive department store moisturizers. I am an esthetician, and I use this over my high end professional products and often recommend it to clients. Thank you, Cetaphil!!!

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Pravana ChromaSilk in Black
heavanlyblue 8/22/2009 10:07:00 PM
I am in love! I have been coloring my hair with Redken Shades in 01B Onyx for a few years now, and I just wasn't satisfied with the intensity of the black. It wasn't rich enough for me, and I felt like it faded almost reddish. In a moment of weakness while traveling, I colored with a boxed dye (Loreal Colorsilk in Blue Black) and liked the color, but hated how it made my hair feel. I was afraid I had damaged my hair, which bothered me because that is exactly why I had been using a non-lifting demi permanent dye for so long! I am fine with a color not lasting ages as long as it is gentle and not damaging. Long story short, I read that Pravana offered a zero lift developer, and so I gave their black a try and I couldn't be happier. I am using it in combo with their Color Ensure shampoo/conditioner/leave in and I'm so pleased with everything. The color is rich and a true black, and my hair feels so much more soft and manageable. It calls for a 1:1.5 ratio color to developer, so I used 2oz color and 3oz developer and found that I probably will only need half of that for my shoulder length hair. Also, since I use a bottle I will put the developer in first followed by the color, because the consistency is so rich, it all stuck to the bottom of the bottle and I had to shake the heck out of it to get it to mix properly. I do wish Pravana offered a blue black, but I am really satisfied with this color. I find it's bleeding significantly less than the Redken Shades did, which makes me think it will last much longer. The verdict is still out on how it will fade, but so far so good!

Skincare - Face -Guinot - Longue Vie Cellulaire
heavanlyblue 6/30/2008 8:48:00 PM
I had been in the middle of a moisturizer crisis- I kept holding out for "THE ONE" and I really think I found it! I have been getting a series of Guinot facials to help clear up my acne and help with some old scarring, and that has been going well. My friend the esthetician suggested this moisturizer, and I bought it and it's been love ever since! Not only is it not breaking me out, I feel like it's even healing my skin. It's not greasy in the least, but is hydrating, and I wake up feeling dewy and glowing. Even if I use a lot, it hasn't broken me out. The scent is pleasant and not overpowering, and even though it's thick it's not too thick for summer. I am considering using more guinot products, because this one is a gem! My friend said that the line just got certified as 'pharmaceutical grade' and that's encouraging! Anyhow, I am so thrilled with this product, I can't imagine using anything else!

Conditioner -TiGi - Catwalk - Fashionista Conditioner
heavanlyblue 7/5/2007 2:52:00 AM
I've been bouncing around different styling products trying to find one that I like enough to purchase twice. I tried this at my sister-in-law's house after she colored my hair. She's a stylist, so I figured that if she used it, it must be good! I liked how my hair felt after I used it, so flash forward a few months and I picked up the shampoo, conditioner, and leave in protector. The smell has got to be the best thing going for this! It's like yummy grape bubblegum. One thing that worries me though- it's the fourth time I've shampooed/conditioned after coloring, and I still am seeing color run down the drain. I'm using the same brand color (Goldwell) and the same shade, so hopefully it's not actually pulling the color off, rather than protecting it?! Anyway, my hair feels okay at best. I've used better, but it's not bad enough to make me chuck the bottles and try something new right away. I'll just continue on with my search when I'm done with this one...

Skincare - Face -Erno Laszlo - 1 o'clock ritual
heavanlyblue 7/3/2007 6:18:00 AM
I have had trouble with my skin since the age of 10. I have always had a significant amount of acne, and spent the majority of my life covered in a lot of pimples, and a lot of makeup. I'm a picker, too... which has left some unsightly scars. I've tried so so so many lines over the past 15 years trying to salvage my skin... clinique, proactiv, aveda, MD Skincare, NV Perricone, biotherm... all of them with results that kept my breakouts manageable, by no means clear. i went to nordstrom in desperation to talk to their advanced skin care tech. i showed him my face, which had become so broken out near my jaw that it literally hurt to smile. i told him i need something... anything... to get rid of it! he told me if, and only if, i was serious about skin care, i should try laszlow. he said it is a bit of a process that takes some getting used to, but the results will amaze. he clocked me for 1:00, and set me up with some samples to give the line a try. i read the book and did research online and decided to give it a go. he told me out of all the lines they carry, he chooses to use EL. i figured if it was good enough for him (and marilyn monroe, gretta garbo, and jacqueline kennedy!) it's good enough for me. it's been three weeks, and i can safely say i've never seen results like this from any product EVER. within days, my skin became softer and old scars seemed to start to fade. my existing blemishes started to heal, and my skin took on a glow and texture i had never felt before! i actually look forward to going home and doing my ritual every night, and look forward to it every morning. it's become second nature and takes no more than five minutes at the most. it's cleared my adult acne and allowed me to actually leave the house without any foundation, just a light dusting of loose powder and some concealer. this is a huge step for me! i would have never thought it was possible. the line really isn't all that expensive when you consider how much you spend on things that just don't work, and how much your happiness and confidence in your skin is worth! let me say that it's priceless! i'm buying the entire line (sea mud soap, light controlling lotion, phelityl lotion) but will probably just ask for another sample of the phelityl oil because it lasts so long. i don't use the light controlling lotion all over my entire face every single day. i do use it across my t-zone every night, but probably do my whole face every two days or so because it is a bit harsh, and i have a few spots on my face that are prone to flake if i use it daily. one tip- i work for MAC so i wear a full face of makeup on the weekends. i use MAC's cremewash makeup remover first, then use my lazlow ritual. it worked 100 times better. it will take off a little makeup no problem, but when you're wearing as much as i do, take the extra 30 seconds and take off your makeup first! i know everyone's faces and bodies are different so it's hard to say that this is the BEST skin care out there, but the it's definitely the best one out there for ME. take a look at the reviews of these products... you'll be hard pressed to find someone who used the whole line and gave it a bad review. sure if you use a product here and a product there it wont work as well, the line is meant to work together! anyway, i encourage everyone thinking about trying laszlow to just do it! nordstrom carries samples and you can get a starter kit on ebay for like $25 or so that will last you several weeks and then you can decide for yourself. THANK YOU ERNO LASZLOW!
