Cleansers -Trilogy - Very Gentle Cleansing Cream
rated 4 of 5

For those of you that have found your skin doesnt feeI 100% clean after using this (mine feels like it has a slight/light film left on it), try wiping it off with a facecloth instead of just water. I purchased some organic, unbleached muslin facecloths from Amazon which give the added benefit of a slight exfoliation. The fact that it is fragrence free, natural and organic scores major brownie points with me. It doesn't irritate my sensitive skin or eyes and it removes all my foundation and about half of my waterproof mascara. I didn't give it a 5 becausealthough I really, really like it, its not quite that HG, wonder product - but then who knows, maybe nothing is! I've yet to find it and in the mean time, this does a good job. I have however start alternating it with the Trilogy Active Enzyme Cleanser which really gives a super clean, tingly feeling. It has been fine for my sensitive skin but I avoid my eye area with it.

Conditioner -Dove - Damage Therapy Conditioner Intensive Repair
rated 5 of 5

I've always sworn by Dove conditioners, this one being my favourite for the last year. This makes my hair super soft and silky, I'm sure it is silicone heavy, but so what if it makes your hair feel nice. My tip, since it is heavy with silicones - only apply it from mid-length to the ends. Technically the hair on your scalp shouldn't need conditioning anyway as it is new hair therefore less dry. My hair is very fine so it gets very tangled in the shower so I apply this, then comb it through with a Mason Pearson comb, then comb it some more as I'm rinsing. And wow.. the price... to think that I used to shell out a fortune on Kerastase.

Other -Rembrandt - Rembrandt Plus Toothpaste with peroxide
rated 5 of 5
heather22 5/15/2010 9:12:00 PM

OK, so I can't believe a toothpaste could change my life, but this did. For about 8 years now I have suffered from the most hideous acne anywhere in the chin / mouth area - bulbous whiteheads that depressed me every fortnight when, without fail, they set up camp on my face again. Then I started whitening my teeth and decided to try this toothpaste to maintain the whiteness, and guess what - I haven't had a breakout since (except for whenever I switch back to another toothpaste). I don't know what the magic ingredient is, as I've tried many other toothpastes and even the natural ones without SLS or fluoride still give me the dreaded chin acne. Either way, I'm so happy I could cry! I will never, ever, ever stray from this toothpaste or let myself run out of it. It IS ridiculously expensive (£8 from Boots in UK) but now I buy from Ebay and its much more affordable; I've even managed to get some tubes for as little as £1 (this was the Rembrandt Sensitive toothpaste, but the ingredients are very similar and I have had just as good results). As far as whitening goes, I find it great for maintaining any whitening results from bleaching. I initially used Crest Whitestrips Advanced to lift old stains (excellent product), and now I use this and a whitening mouthwash to keep up further stains at bay. Every few weeks if I feel like my teeth need a boost, I use the Plus White 5 Minute Whitening Gel - switched to this from Crest purely because its so much cheaper - and have now received compliments for the whiteness of my teeth! And believe me, they were yellow before. All in all, I love, love, LOVE this product!!

Masks -Principal Secret - Advanced Gentle Enzyme Treatment
rated 4 of 5
heather22 5/15/2010 8:41:00 PM

This is a great mask for smoothing and softening the skin; It's a quick fix and a good extra boost for when your skin isn't feeling that great. The directions say to spend a while massaging the mask onto your skin so that it goes creamy - I feel this is a vital step in the softening process. It seems to remove any dead cells on the surface very gently and leave the skin softer and glowy. I don't use it religiously, maybe just once every couple/few weeks when my skin needs a boost. I use a separate mask for detoxing/drawing out impurities (Sanctuary Charcoal Warming Detox mask is great for this - available from Boots in UK). Most important about this Principal Secret mask is that it really is gentle - I have sensitive skin and avoid using anything too harsh or fragranced, and this doesn't irritate me at all. Only gripe with this is the packaging... surely a tube would have been easier if water is not supposed to get in this product? I have repurchased this many times but am holding off buying any more at the moment - purely because I'm intrigued by the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask, based on its cheap price and crazy amount of good reviews on here. Will keep you posted!!

Shampoo -Batiste - Dry Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
heather22 4/21/2010 5:40:00 PM

I can't believe I've only just discovered this! I LOVE IT ... and it makes my life a whole lot easier! I wash my hair every second day and on the second day it starts to look greasy - however one quick spray of this and it looks clean again. the can is the perfect size for carrying around in your handbag, so if you ever get caught out needing a quick re-fresh its always possible. I like it for nights when I'm going out straight after work and don't get time to go home first and freshen up. Best thing about it is the price, in the UK it can be purchased from Superdrug for about £3. At that price I can afford to have one at home and one at work. HG!

Treatments -Avene - Ystheal+ emulsion
rated 4 of 5
heather22 1/21/2010 1:37:00 AM

This has been one of my HG's for the last year. I started off using it every second night and now I use approx 5 times a week. (I have a night off every few nights to sleep in something more moisturising.) I used to use it sparingly, but now that I've started using it more liberally (as much as 5 pumps per night for face, neck and undereyes) I've noticed more improvements, so my advice would be don't be shy with it! (Although this attitude is costing me a small fortune...) It has helped with my skin tone, mild acne scarring and smoothing out some small bumps that I had on the sides of my cheeks. I can't comment on the anti-aging benefits yet as I am only 26, but I have recently started using it under my eyes as I'm starting to show the first signs of fine lines in that area (sob). Anyway, I *think* it is starting to help with these, but it is early days with this experiment so I will update this review once I can be sure. I did at one point try to substitute this with Eluage gel, but it definitely wasn't right for my skin. Only bummer about this is the packaging... I'm sure there's a whole lot of product sitting at the bottom of the tube that I can't get to once it runs out!

Shampoo -Dove - Intense damage therapy-with serum
rated 4 of 5
heather22 11/3/2009 4:21:00 PM

I like this, but need to rotate it with a clarifying shampoo as I have fine hair that gets weighed down easily. When I'm in London however, where the water is very hard, I can use it everyday and it does an amazing job of stopping my hair from drying out. Used with the matching conditioner, I'm very happy with the results. And for the price, it's definitely the best out there!

Conditioner -Dove - Intense damage therapy - with serum
rated 4 of 5

This is nearly as good as the old formula for Dove Nourishing Care Shampoo & Conditioner (I nearly cried when that got discontinued). Their new formula was rubbish but this one, I like. My ends are really dry but this makes them softer than anything else I've tried. For the price its fantastic deal...to be honest, I have some Kerastase sitting in my shower but keep ending up switching back to this instead!

Mascara -Becca - Ultimate Mascara
rated 3 of 5
heather22 11/3/2009 4:07:00 PM

I'm afraid I'm not a fan :( I bought this based on these high reviews but was disappointed . . . It does an OK job but for the price I would expect much, much more. Maybe I'm applying it wrong but I just don't get the same effect as I do with Chanel Exceptional or some of the Lancome mascara's.

Cleansers -Avene - Gentle Milk Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
heather22 11/3/2009 4:04:00 PM

I don't hate this, but I don't love it either. Maybe I had high hopes because Avene Ystheal + Emulsion is one of my HG's. I tend to prefer foaming cleansers. This is pretty good at removing makeup (although not as good as my Olay). It is gentle too, didn't break me out, and isn't too heavily fragranced. A little too drying for my skin though. For the price, I'm sure there are far better cleansers out there!

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula Foot Cream
rated 5 of 5
heather22 7/26/2009 2:49:00 PM

Love it! Does just what it says. I always rub in a liberal amount of this then put socks on after to help it absorb. Works best when I use it after rubbing my feet with a foot file first.

Love this, it removes all make up quickly and easily and is gentle enough to use over the eyes. Doesn't break me out, and also love the fact that it has no fragrance.

hate it! was irritating on eyes, cost an absolute fortune, and did nothing for the growth of my lashes. i used it religiously for 3 months and saw no results, AND it cost me NZ$300!!! im sure the old formula (which was pulled) worked wonders but this new formula does nothing... save your money.

Hair -Dove - Nourishing Care Shampoo & Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
heather22 10/13/2008 12:08:00 AM

This product is the best ever, makes hair insanely soft, I would expect to shell out a small fortune (like I do with kerastase) for stuff this good..I turned all my friends onto the product and they loved it. however they have changed the formula?? I used to buy this is the white and pale purple packaging, know it comes in smaller dark blue bottles and its just not the same. they should have stuck with the old formula!! not sure if you can still purchase in other countries, but havent seen any in UK or australia/new zealand. damn shame!
