Sunscreen -Pratima - Neem Vetiver Body Sunscreen SPF 30
rated 5 of 5

This is my favorite facial sunscreen. I haven't tried the Neem Rose version because it contains wheat germ oil and I have a gluten sensitivity. The Neem Vetiver is a much better price/ounce. I love the smell of vetiver, which is what this smells like (though not overpowering). The texture is very fluid and light and I can apply it generously without looking white (it has a slight beige tint and no whitecast). It doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything. It leaves my skin a little shiny/glowy, but not greasy, as there are no oils in this formula. If you let it sit, the shininess goes away. I wear powder, so that's not an issue. I've been using this as my daily moisturizer and it seems to improve my skin texture and hydrate fine lines really well but at the same time, the zinc controls oiliness and doesn't break me out (in fact, my skin seems to be more clear when I use it every day!) it also doesn't irritate my eyes and makes a great makeup primer. As far as protection goes, I feel like this protects better than Devita's Solar Protective Moisturizer. I never burn when I'm wearing it. It doesn't completely block out freckling for me (I'd need a super high SPF for that) but keeps it pretty minimal. The size is generous enough that I also use it on my neck, chest and, if I'm going to be outside for awhile, on my shoulders/arms.

Concealers -Unlisted Brand - RMS Beauty 'Un Cover-Up
rated 5 of 5

I finally took the plunge and bought "11" and I love it! I bought it to use as a foundation, in place of my usual mineral powder. It blends into the skin nicely and doesn't feel heavy at all. I have fairly oily skin and it stays put well. I wanted something for light/medium coverage and I like that this is buildable. It doesn't clog my pores at all. The first day I wore it, a friend I hadn't seen in awhile said my skin looked good and that I looked very healthy! I use a separate concealer under my eyes, as I have very dark under eye circles (I use the lightest shade of Couleur Caramel, which is fabulous for easy coverage) but I could probably use the RMS if I had to- I would just have to layer more of it on than I do with the Couleur Caramel.

I actually really like this one. It goes on very strong and spicy but the dry down is soft and pretty on me, with a lot of vanilla, orris and some rose remaining, with just a hint of spice. I do well with oriental scents, though and some do not. I got a sample from the Nature of Beauty website (they have 1 cent samples!)

Styling Products -Kevin Murphy - Hair Resort
rated 5 of 5

I adore this!! My hair, which is fine, yet course and bendy, is notorious for falling flat with styling products. Not with this! It's absolutely my HG, can't- screw-it-up, styling product! It leaves my hair very full and wavy and reduces frizz but not crunchy and my hair even still has volume the next day after I've slept on it! I can just spritz a little water if i want to reactivate it. It's not completely natural, but has a much cleaner ingredients list than most salon products (no parabens) and the yummy, subtle coconut scent doesn't bother my perfume chemical sensitivity one bit.

Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Devita Solar Body Block 30
rated 3 of 5

I used to use the Solar Protective Cream on my face, but I like this even better! It's also more cost-effiicient, since it comes in a bigger bottle. Very soothing and light gel-creme texture. Edit: I find that, for some reason, this breaks me out if I use it on my chest. I think it's the shea butter. I only use t on my arms now.

Skincare - Face -Garden of Wisdom - Rosehips Seed Oil
rated 5 of 5
hazyjane 5/6/2009 12:24:00 PM

I used to use evan healy rosehip seed oil, which had eo's added, but I like this so much better- it's so much cheaperr, too!! I had been using GoW avocado oil all winter (FABULOUS!) but now that it's warmer and I'm oilier again, I needed something lighter. I'm mixing a few drops with a couple of drops of GoW green rooibos hyaluronic acid serum and it sinks in so well and makes my skin super-smooth!

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Starbucks - Napkins

Ha ha! I don't use Starbucks napkins specifically, but I've found that any brown napkins are great for blotting. Brown paper towels work, too, but not quite as well as the napkins.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Avocado Oil

I love this oil!! My skin has recently gotten dehydrated, flaky and line-y while still being oily. Not fun! My other face oil wasn't hydrating the lines enough (it was jojoba/rose hip based). I bought a small bottle of unrefined avocado oil from Garden of Wisdom. It totally plumps out my expression lines and my skin feels much more elastic and it brings color to my pale skin. It also helps control oil. I did a little research and found out that it has the highest absorption rate of the plant oils and stimulates collagen production. It's loaded with UV filters, fatty acids and antioxidants. Definitely a keeper! EDIT: It's several years later and I still love avocado oil. After experimenting with several brands, Olivado extra virgin is by far my favorite. It's deeper green and less viscous than other brands. Combining a couple of drops with toner or water really helps it to sink in the best. I massage it in for 30 sec. or so and it completely absorbs. I use it on my neck/chest/arms/legs, too. I've recently started using it to oil cleanse after castor became too drying and it's been phenomenal. Not only does it clean my pores well and leave my skin feeling like silk, but my giant pores look smaller! I've also been using it as a pre-wash hair conditioner. I work a little into dry hair when I wake up and let it sit until I get in the shower. I let the steam and hot water help it penetrate while I exfoliate and shave and then I wash it out last. I don't need any conditioner or hair serum when I do this. It really helps to smooth the coarse parts of my hair without weighing down my fine hair.

Moisturizers -Dr. Alkaitis - Day creme
rated 5 of 5
hazyjane 11/29/2008 10:36:00 PM

This cream is light but my skin feels very protected and supple. It's one of the few creams that increases my skin's flexibility and relaxes and hydrates my expression lines.

Moisturizers -Dr. Alkaitis - Organic Night Cream
rated 5 of 5
hazyjane 10/29/2008 2:30:00 PM

This cream feels really good. I take a minute to really massage it in, as per the instructions, and it leaves my skin velvety. When I wake up, my skin is smooth and very hydrated but not oily. Dr. Alkaitis is truly wonderful.

Moisturizers -Dr. Alkaitis - Nourishing Treatment Oil
rated 5 of 5
hazyjane 9/1/2008 11:31:00 PM

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet! This oil is my new favorite all purpose product. It's a fabulous face oil- I can even use it around my eyes. My skin looks so healthy and smooth. I haven't even been using any of my beloved evanhealy products (moisturizer, rosehip oil). This oil seems expensive (60.00) but that's for four ounces, so if you're using it mainly for face and neck/decolletage like I am, it's a good deal (20.00/ounce.) Ingredients: Into a base of virgin cold pressed organic oils (organic Jojoba*, St. John's Wort* and Andean Mountain Rose Hip seed* oils), the following organic and wild-crafted herbals are blended: Indian Madder°, Country Sarsaparilla°, Amazon root* and Liquorice*. Country Mallow°, Turmeric*, China root°, Costus°, and White Sandalwood°. Cuscus Grass°, Olive*, Eagle Wood°, Nut Grass°, Bermuda Grass° and Ashwagandha°. Also added are natural vitamin E complex (D- alpha, beta, gamma and delta tocopherols) and 100% pure Essential Oils.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Dr Mist Body Hygiene Flotation Spray
rated 5 of 5

This really works. I haven't had the best luck with natural deodorants, but this stuff works even on day two (I shower every other day) and even if it's very hot and humid.

Shampoo -John Masters - Honey and Hibiscus Hair Reconstructing shampoo
rated 4 of 5
hazyjane 6/4/2008 11:29:00 PM

I've tried all of the John Masters shampoos, and even though I think the others are great (with the exception of the Zinc and Sage-too drying) this one blows me away! I always have a good hair day with it and I don't even need to use my beloved Citrus and Neroli detangler. My hair ends up so shiny, soft and bouncy. I have fine, course, bendy hair that doesn't always behave, so this is a great thing. I also have a very oily scalp and it doesn't make me greasy. UPDATE: 9/1/08 I took off a lippie because this has been reformulated and I think it's a little richer than before and the scent is different- it used to be herbal and now it smells like ylang ylang. Still pretty good, though- just not perfect anymore!

Masks -evanhealy - Grean Tea Clay
rated 5 of 5
hazyjane 2/9/2008 1:54:00 PM

This product is deceptive. It's just French green clay and green tea powder. Sounds basic. I've used green clay for years, but this one is just above and beyond. I think it really is a higher grade of clay, as the company claims. The green tea really increases the anti inflammitory properties. It really refines my skin texture and helps breakouts and blotchiness. I love to do a steam first and pumpkin or green apple mask second, and then this mask, for a full-on facial. I even follow it up with a honey mask, sometimes. I usually do this mask at night, because my face is rather pink (not red) from circulation after. Once the pinkness clears, my skin looks great!

Styling Products -John Masters - Sea Mist
rated 4 of 5
hazyjane 2/9/2008 1:43:00 PM

I have medium- fine hair with a lot of bend to it ( my ends never stay straight). This is one of the very few products that doesn't weigh my hair down and I think it works better than the Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray I used to use. It's also much healthier. I just generously mist my towel dried hair and scrunch. It brings out the bend and wave and defines my layers. It's great for lazy hair styling people- like me!
