Treatments -Kiehls - Blue Herbal Spot Treatment
rated 3 of 5
hautelyodd 6/3/2010 6:24:00 AM

To be honest, this product is rather hit-and-miss, as all other spot treatments are. I use this in the day, reapplying two to three times as recommended. It is particularly effective if you use it on an open wound- it speeds up healing and prevents inflammation. I would say it's more useful on small spots. Having said all that, I always have a tube handy and it still works after using it for 3-4 years, so I will repurchase.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Satin Taupe

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. I thought the colour would be too mature for me, but it's perfect for a toned down, smokey day look. The texture is amazing, it's long-lasting and I can't recommend it more. I use it with Naked Lunch during the day, and with Bronze and Carbon for a night out.

Eyeliner -Clinique - Cream shaper for eyes black diamond
rated 5 of 5
hautelyodd 1/21/2010 12:22:00 PM

I cannot believe I have not reviewed this product yet. It has been my HG eyeliner for 3 years, and it beats every other eyeliner I've tried- Chanel, Shu Uemura and MAC. I personally prefer pencil liners, and for this price, the Cream shaper is unbeatable. First of all, Black Diamond is not jet black, it is less harsh, I'd say a very dark deep blue, with a bit of shimmer. I usually go back and forth until I build up a dark enough black, but if you want it more subtle a layer or two gives a greyish blue kind of shade. It goes on very smoothly and is therefore easy to handle. Its durability is excellent- it stays on my waterline better than any eyeliner does. I usually have to touch up once or twice during the day, and only my waterline fades, but it never gives me raccoon eyes. It is an excellent eyeliner and I've lost count of how many I've repurchased. It's the first and only eyeliner I feel confident enough to wear on its on- the fact that it is a softer black means that it doesn't give that very severe eyeliner look that is often unflattering. All in all, an amazing eyeliner, I don't go anywhere without it. For its price, It is definitely worth trying out.

Primer/ Corrector -Chanel - Base Lumiere - Illuminating Makeup Base
rated 4 of 5
hautelyodd 1/14/2010 5:18:00 PM

I used to be lazy about primers, but I've been using this primer for about half a year now and now I won't put on foundation without this base underneath. For me it really smoothes out the unevenness and pores on my skin so the foundation goes on smoothly. It does an excellent job in keeping the foundation on my face as well, but understandably it is not as effective in the summer heat. Right now, in the middle of winter, it prevents my skin from flaking, and coupled with my Shu Uemura foundation, it gives a lovely complexion. I just bought another bottle- a little goes a long way, so 25 quid is worth the money.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Shimmer Blush in Plum Foolery
rated 5 of 5
hautelyodd 1/8/2010 10:36:00 AM

Absolutely gorgeous. I asked for a blush similar to Peachy Keen and was suggested to try Plum Foolery. Am I glad I did! It gives a natural, rosy flush that makes your skin glow. I use the 182 to brush it on in a circular motion before sweeping it up towards the temples. Lovely blush to use in the winter.

Lipstick -Clinique - Long Last - Blushing Nude
rated 4 of 5
hautelyodd 11/21/2009 7:50:00 AM

I don't wear lipstick, but I got Blushing Nude as a free sample so I thought I'd give it a go. It's exactly what it says it is on me, nude but with a bit of pink. I love how it lends a polish but still looks very natural. Great texture, good staying power.

Lipstick -Clinique - Long Last Lipstick - All Heart
rated 4 of 5
hautelyodd 5/30/2009 11:48:00 AM

I got this lipstick free and I absolutely love it. On me it looks coral, on the pink side. It's very creamy and rich. I have only worn it a couple of hours, without lipliner, and it feathered a bit round the edges but the colour stayed quite well. I don't usually wear lipstick but I can imagine just slicking it on on a lazy day and still look amazing.

Eyeliner -MAC - Smolder eye kohl
rated 3 of 5
hautelyodd 1/30/2009 5:04:00 PM

So soft and creamy, goes on like a dream, intense true black... BUT melts like it's nobody's business and I can't wear it without wanting to check my makeup every two minutes. It is undoubtedly great for a smudgy smokey look. I suppose I'll wear it for a night out next time instead of in the day.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #168 Large Angled Contour Brush
rated 4 of 5
hautelyodd 1/25/2009 4:49:00 PM

I finally got this brush at Christmas after I decided to try my hand at contouring. Since this is my first contouring brush, I can't really compare it to anything else. After experimenting with it for about a month, I can safely say that it is decent as a contouring brush, it fits well under my cheekbones. It's even better as a blusher brush. I usually use my 187 for blush, but having read somewhere on MUA that it applies blush beautifully I gave it a go- and it is true! The colour is more intense and is deposited on my cheekbones beautifully. I took 1 lippie off because it's not really as versatile as the 187, and it's a bit *too* fluffy.

Eyeliner -MAC - black russian
rated 4 of 5

Quite a pleasant surprise! Glides on like a dream, so creamy and it doesn't even budge. A gorgeous blue black, but it can get too glittery sometimes for the day, but perfect for the night!

Lipstick -MAC - Matte - Kinda Sexy
rated 5 of 5
hautelyodd 11/18/2008 4:13:00 PM

My first lipstick! I was very excited about this, and it didn't disappoint. I have really pigmented lips (they're so pigmented people are always asking if I was wearing lipgloss), and Kinda Sexy is just the thing I need to tone them down. It's a gorgeous muted pink on me, and goes beautifully with dramatic eyes. I love it, and I can't wait to try other MAC lipsticks.

As much as I want to love this, it just doesn't show on my skin! Very disappointed, it's a no for me.

Blush -MAC - Mocha blush

Way too pink in my opinion, which it is meant to be... The color aside, it stays put and shows very prettily on my skin.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Shimmer blush in Peachykeen
rated 5 of 5
hautelyodd 11/3/2008 9:01:00 AM

My HG blush, I can hardly go anywhere without it! It does look frightening in the pan, but it's a very wearable reddish pink. I wore Love Joy over it once and it looked beautifully toned down!

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Blush in Love Joy
rated 5 of 5
hautelyodd 11/3/2008 9:00:00 AM

Absolutely gorgeous! It looks really dark in the pan, which had me worried, but on the skin it's a beautiful warm shade. I put it on top of Peachykeen once and it looked wonderful! It lasts all day too, I'm so in love :)
