On me, this perfume smells like soap! Like white bar soap - very simple, very clean. It doesn't smell tropical, fruity or floral, just like soap. I love it, but not for the reasons I thought I would.

Polishes -Rimmel - Lasting Finish Pro - Steel Grey

Dead on dupe for Sally Hansen's "Commander In Chic". Personally, I like Sally Hansen's formula a little better - Rimmel, I've noticed, doesn't want to spread as easily, and likes to glob up near the cuticle, but anyone with a bit of experience won't find it unmanageable. (Newcomers to polish might find it a little trying though.) That minor complaint aside, the wear time is very good for this line of polish, and I've never had it chip on me.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Rockstar Pink

One of the most gorgeous polishes out there right now - period. And only two dollars?! I would have paid OPI or even Rescue Beauty Lounge prices for a polish like this one. Imagine OPI's "Mad As a Hatter", but primarily pink rather than silver. I wanted MAAH like crazy before getting this, but Rockstar Pink has satisfied that craving just fine. :)

Polishes -OPI - Heart Throb

"Heart Throb" is a sheer, true - but it builds like a champ! I've never seen a sheer so pigmented while remaining a sheer. It's a beautiful rose petal pink, classic feminine shade. If you're into pinks at all, you probably have something similar to this already, but if you're newer to pink polishes (like I am) it's definately worth checking out.

I have this in 4 colors, which I will describe in a bit, but first let me sing the praises of the packaging - The bottle is rounded and comfortable to hold, as is the handle. The brush is wide and rounded, and as such is easy to use. Okay, color time: "Nurturing Natural" - a sheer but buildable peachy nude. Very basic, but classy. The sort of color you wear when you want to look pulled together and on top of things. "Gorgeous Grape" - a dusky purple cream. It really is gorgeous! I haven't seen any other polish quite like this one - OPI by Sephora's "Metro Chic" is the closest, but "Gorgeous Grape" doesn't have the brownish undertone to it that MC does - this color is cleaner, while remaining dusty. "Bold Buff" - a pale, milky whitish nude. For such a sheer polish, it builds very well, with 3 sheer coats giving full opacity. No need to glom it on! Very clean, fresh color. "Gentle Blossom" - a pastel green in the vein of Essie's "Mint Candy Apple", but with lots of pretty shimmer! There's nothing else like this out there right now. Wear time on these is great - no signs of wear or chipping after a week!

Polishes -Essie - Mint Candy Apple

I was really late to the party with this one. I wound up getting a few of the many dupes that are running around these days, and they are nice, but MCA really is worth the purchase. It's got this tiny bit of blue running through it that sets it appart from the other mint greens, but the blue isn't so intense that it sends MCA into turquoise territiory. It's unique, beautiful, and earns it's spot in my collection. :)

Polishes -Essie - Marshmallow
rated 5 of 5

I have naturally yellow nails - I've tried every kind of nail-bleach and soak, stopped wearing dark polishes completely, you name it. I finally had to accept that my nails aren't stained, that's just the way they naturally look. I was SO bummed, because I love sheer polishes, but because of my yellowy nails, they were always off limits. This polish changed all that. With this underneath, I can wear any polish, no matter how sheer! Essie's Marshmallow has done what cosmetics are supposed to do - make you feel better about yourself. :)

Fragrances -Calgon - Cotton Candy

I am a cotton candy fiend, so I bought this without checking out reviews or anything like that. It's a sweet smelling body spray, how bad can it be, right? Wrong. To me anyway, it smells like a berry-scented hairspray. I was hoping that once the alcohol dried it would get all sugary-tastic, but no - it smells like a scented hairspray from start to finish. I ended up pawning this off on my aunt, I think. She liked it anyway, so it wasn't a total loss.

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Japanese Cherry Blossom body splash
rated 5 of 5

I avoided this scent for a long time, because in the bottle it smells kind of musky and boring. I got a trial sized bottle in a swap, and sprayed it on for the heck of it, and I could not believe it. It's so different on the skin, there is no resemblance to in-bottle at all! On me, this turns into a rich, creamy lily/sandalwood/rose scent that lasts a long time. It's a new favorite, and I wish I had tried it sooner!

Fragrances -Parfums de Coeur - Body Fantasies Cotton Candy

To me anyway, this doesn't smell much like cotton candy, but it is a sweet, candylike scent. I get comlimented on this by people from all walks of life, men and women both say "Wow, it smells so good in here!" whenever this has been sprayed. The scent is also oddly calming, too - at least to me. :)

Polishes -Essie - Licorice

I was really intrigued by the reviews that say this is a sheer black. I had never seen such a thing, so I had to check it out. At one coat, this will NOT go on without looking awful, so the whole 'sheer black' thing didn't pan out. I was dissapointed, but decided to apply another coat and just wear it as a solid black, and that's when I got the most rich, deep beautiful black I've ever had on my nails. It's weird, this polish actually looks deep - never seen another black like this. Very lovely polish, and I'd definately recommend it.

Lip Gloss -Hard Candy - Glossaholic - Sequin Saturated Shine Lip Gloss in Chill Out
rated 3 of 5
harpiequeen 3/2/2011 2:20:00 PM

This gloss has a generic, pleasant vanilla scent to it. Whether it will relax anyone is open to debate, but I didn't really put any stock in that claim anyway. :) The real reason to get this gloss is the gorgeous, lavender/pink flake glitter in it. The applicator is awesome, because it's so big! It's comfortable to hold and use.

Lip Gloss -Hard Candy - Glossaholic - Sequin Saturated Shine Lip Gloss in Rise & Shine

The scent is a little different, true. It claims to smell like coffee, and it sort of does - but the scent is a touch...off. It doesn't stink or anything, but it does take getting used to. That being said, this gloss is so unique! It reminds me of Sally Hansen's "Hidden Treasure" polish - glowy, flakey shimmers in a clear base. It feels good on, and the applicator is great! I also like the other version of this gloss, which has lavender/pink shimmers as opposed to the gold/orange ones in this.

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst in 070 Soft Nude [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
harpiequeen 2/9/2011 6:46:00 PM

This is a milky nude, to be sure. No shimmer or anything like that. That being said, it can be tough to get it on without it wanting to go streaky, but the color itself is beautiful!

Lipstick -Revlon - Icy Nude (Colorburst)
rated 5 of 5
harpiequeen 2/9/2011 6:43:00 PM

I like Colorburst lipsticks in general, but this new shade is so pretty! Nudes have always seemed very dull to me, but this one might just be my gateway drug! It's a sheer taupey-nude color that is subdued, but polished. It makes my lips look so sculpted and pretty! I can see some skintones having trouble with it, but I love it. (I'm a PPP, for the record.)
