Moisturizers -Mario Badescu - Seaweed Night Cream

I'm 28, with dry acne prone, sensitive, some scarring, Irish-Scandinavian skin. That said, I love this stuff. (My skin generally like MB products however.) I had used a sample I received with another purchase and liked it so much I bought a jar. The smell is very pleasant, it reminds me of Meet Mark's beach products (Avon company). This is non-greasy and sinks right in. It has never given me acne, but like I mentioned, I have dry skin so the more moisture I can get the happier my skin is. I only use it at night, because I need SPF too much to use it during the day, but I don't need a whole lot as it spread around nicely. One jar lasts me 6 months, so it comes out as not very expensive at all, considering my $12 Aveeno would only last a month. It hasn't helped my tiny wrinkles, but meh, I'm only 28 and maybe if I use it long enough all the anti-aging properties could do their magic. If I combined it with wrinkle reducing products it could possibly work better in that department, but I'm happy with "anti-aging" at this point and am not too worried about wrinkles yet. As for the reviewer who said this smells like cat pee, I wonder what your cat drinks, as this smells just like a flowery ocean to me haha. I will continue to purchase! HG! (I used to use the Bee Pollen and find this is much better.)

Mascara -Clinique - Lash Power
rated 4 of 5
happylynngilmer 8/6/2012 1:21:00 AM

I need a mascara that would truly stay put. I've been searching for a long time. I work in the medical field, and am super busy all day long, and I do Vinyasa and hot yoga, and to top it off, I'm getting married soon and KNOW I'm going to cry everywhere and wanted to make sure I don't have raccoon eyes. I have been, and continue to be, on the lookout for a mascara I can use everyday. Clinque is the closest I have come, and yes, I will repurchase because of that. It has a very wet formula, easy to apply. I love the brush! It doesn't lengthen much, but what I like is I can coat every lash easily. It dries quickly, and this doesn't clump at all when applying! It comes off with warm water, although it certainly is a mess when it comes off (little black pieces that look like eraser chunks all over the place haha.) But it DOES flake off on my during the day, unlike other reviewers who get this somehow to stay on their lashes. I do not get raccoon eyes though, and the flaking is minimal, so even though this mascara is not perfect, is darn near close and that is why this is now in my arsenal until I find something better.

Mascara -New York Color - Sky Rise Lengthening Mascara
rated 2 of 5
happylynngilmer 8/6/2012 1:11:00 AM

I bought this when looking for Instant lash by NYC and it was out of stock. I thought, hey, same company! The formula can't be all THAT different, right? Wrong. This stuff flakes off everywhere on me, and I get raccoon eyes by lunch time. I'm in the medical field, I'm running around all day, and I'm expected to look like I've got everything under control. This mascara doesn't do that for me. While it does look very natural, and the price is certainly right, I won't be repurchasing. I'll wait until Instant Lash is back in stock.

Mascara -Almay - Get Up and Grow
rated 3 of 5
happylynngilmer 7/22/2012 6:07:00 PM

I usually love Almay products, but I would not repurchase this mascara. The brush is good, and it applies smoothly, (no clumps!) and it coats evenly giving me great length. The issue is the raccoon eyes. :/ This smudges all over the place, in a matter of hours. I'm in the medical field, I can't look depressed all the time or my clients will wonder about me, haha. This one is being replaced, just not sure with what yet.

Moisturizers -Mario Badescu - Bee Pollen Night Cream
rated 5 of 5

I have combo, sensitive, acne prone Irish-Scandinavian skin, with scarring. I agree with the MUAer who wrote below me that this a balm. I was scared to use this at first since I'm prone to break outs, but the smell enticed me. It called to me! I tried just a tad...and the next day I swear my face was smoother and more even. I ended up using the whole sample over the course of 9 days, and this stuff is so good I'm buying a full size. I don't like tubs, I don't think they're very hygienic, but as long as my fingers are clean when I use it, I can't complain much, lolz.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Positively Ageless Lifting & Firming Daily Moisturiser - SPF30
rated 3 of 5
happylynngilmer 6/10/2012 10:42:00 PM

background: 28 years old/combo/Irish-scandanavian/some acne scars/fine lines starting at eyes/I do wear sunscreen everyday. I bought this at Target, as they no longer carry the Aveeno Active Naturals SPF 30 daily facial moisturizer, and I wasn't going to be anywhere near Ulta for a while. I thought, if they just exchanged soy for shitake and called it a new product, how different can it be? VERY! It does smell nice, but the pump is crazy-the first time I pumped it like a quarter size came out! I really have to be careful not to push it all the way down, otherwise it's a giant waste. I didn't experience any stinging like others, but I did get bad, bad cystic acne all over, and this was the only thing I changed. I slathered on Mario Badescu buffing lotion and that got me through the week until my regular Target trip and I could return it. For $18 I was really hoping for a better product. The Aveeno I usually use is only $11! This product made me really sad. A trip to Ulta is now in order!

Sunscreen -Aveeno - Active Naturals Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion SPF 55
rated 5 of 5
happylynngilmer 7/12/2011 9:43:00 PM

There are such mixed reviews for this, and I'm really surprised! I have acne-scarred, sensitive Irish-Scandinavian skin. I have gone though 2 bottles of this in a little over a year, and am on a new bottle of the spf70, but only because I can'tfind the 55 ANYWHERE! Even Ulta let me down. I live in the CA valley, where summers are easily 100+, and winters still 60+. This has never, not once, broken me out, or left a white cast. It acts just like any other moisturizer, and it helps set my mineral powder. It has no smell that I can detect, even brand new bottles of it. It's non-greasy, sinks right in. My skin is fussy and picky, but loves this.

Treatments -Lancome - Genifique

Combo skin, some acne scarring, irish/scandanavian This is SUPER expensive, but lucky me got two samples of it in a Sephora order. I used it every night for about 5 weeks before my uber samples ran out. It moisturized great, and I did not have any negative reaction to this product, even though I have picky skin. I did some improvement to my skin tone, including less red, and about a 5% lightening of my scars. I don't know how well it prevents or removes wrinkles/lines, since I don't have many yet, but with the changes my skin was making, if I had $90 to drop for this product I sure would!

Moisturizers -Olay - Age Defying Intensive Nourishing Night Cream
rated 4 of 5
happylynngilmer 3/23/2011 2:15:00 AM

I have combo skin, some acne scarring, Irish/scandanavian skin. I used this for a few weeks, about 6, before I forgot my jar in a hotel room while traveling. I got it originally for 9.44, but this time around got it for 9.99. I don't like jars, but oh well, so many products come in them now it's hard not to have any on my counter. It does have fragrance, which my skin is usually sensitive to, but it is not bothered by this kind at all. It sinks in, is very moisturizing but not oily, and sometimes I even use it during the day-my make make up goes over it just fine. I have not had any breakouts with this. My only concern is that at 27, I want something to prevent wrinkles and lines, and I am not sure if this will do that. I might have to get something different when this jar runs out.

Treatments (Eye) -Shiseido - Benefiance Concentrated Anti-wrinkle Eye Cream
rated 4 of 5
happylynngilmer 12/4/2010 5:08:00 PM

I have been using my sample from Sephora, and WOW am I impressed! I'm only 27, and have just started to have lines formed. I used to use mark's anti-wrinkle cream just to say I was trying to prevent wrinkles, but after this product which is WAY better, I'm buying a full size. It's so creamy, and melts right in. My eye area looks so moisturized in the morning, and feels great, too. I have not had any rash like others before me. You do only need a little, I've been using my sample a week and there is at least 2 weeks more of it. We'll see how well it does at preventing wrinkles in a year or so!

Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder
rated 4 of 5
happylynngilmer 3/7/2010 7:59:00 PM

I have Irish/Scandanavian acne prove combo skin with acne scars. I bought this on a whim. I checked MUA for reviews for Neutrogena mineral sheers and went to buy THAT when I found this. It comes with a brush, and was cheaper, and that was more important to me. While the packing is bulky, I like that it holds the brush so I don't need to carry my brush bag too. Its light and airy, looks very natural, and is buildable. I don't like LOOKING like I'm wearing make up though, I wear something just to even out the redness of my scars, so just a little bit is all I need. It still looks great after my normal 10 hour work day, and doesn't break out my skin. When I do want more coverage, I wear it over my Almay naturals tinted moisturizer. I would recmd this to anyone on a budget that has sensitive picky skin.

Hair Styling Tools -Conair - Mini Straightener

Another positive here. I have shoulder length wavy hair and this is great when I use it to do my bangs or compliment my 1.5 inch Jib Tourmaline straightener. Great for travel! I don't regret my purchase at all and I travel alot, so I'll be taking this lil guy instead of of my Jib five times the size. Love this.

Shampoo -Alberto Vo5 - Passion Fruit Smoothie
rated 5 of 5
happylynngilmer 10/19/2009 3:04:00 PM

2a/m/i henndigoed black hair, waist length. This is my favorite V05 shampoo. It lathers A TON, smells wonderful, is moisturizing, and lasts a long time. Rite Aid often has sales for this for as little as .69 cents a bottle. Normally its only $1 anyways. Dirt cheap folks, and "you get what you pay for" does not apply to this product. Its great. One bottle lasts me about a month, because I use this regularly and every once in a while use V05's Extra Body. This doesn't dry out my finiky scalp, or bleed my indigo (which the Extra Body can do if I use it exclusively). HG!

Shampoo -Alberto Vo5 - Extra Body Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
happylynngilmer 10/19/2009 2:58:00 PM

2a/m/i hair, henndigoed black. Waist length. I like to use this in a rotation, because if I use it every wash, it can be be drying, like a clarifiying shampoo, and irritate my sensitive scalp (and bleed my indigo). The smell is almost herbally. It doesn't linger. I need just a little bit because this junk lathers like its going out of style! One bottle lasts me about 2 months when used in rotation. Rite Aid has sales on this a lot for as low as .69 cents a bottle. Even at normal price, I spend .50 a month on shampoo. Not bad at all!!!

Conditioner -Giovanni - Smooth As Silk Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
happylynngilmer 7/17/2009 11:16:00 AM

2a/m/i henndigoed hair. This is cone-free and vegan. Normal price, $7.99US but I have seen this at Marshall's (where I normally get it) for $12.99 for 1 liter! The only problem I have with this is the lame triangle bottle. But I've recently seen a different bottle design on shelves, which gives me hope that soon there will be nothing amiss with this product. Even with that, I gave it 5 lippes. I've used it many times over the course of my long-hair journey, and although I stray and try other conditioners, this is one I always come back to (as well as Suave coconut!). It's perfect for light moisture, and thin hair. It works good in SMT too. The scent is light, and my BPAL&coconut oil leave-in covers it just fine without hindering the BPAL scents. Great slip, rinses well. Currently in it's rotation with Dove Intense Moisture Therapy witch has tons of cones, so I don't need to clarify as often. Love this, and will keep coming back when I need something I know I can rely on! Ingredients: Aqua (Purified Water), Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis) Oil, Nettle (Urtica Dioica) Oil, Thyme (Thymus Vulgaris) Oil, Birch Leaf (Butela Alba) Oil, Chamomile (Anthemis Nobilis Flower) Oil, Clary (Salvia Sclarea), Lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia), Coltsfoot Leaf (Tussilago Fargara), Yarrow (Achillea Millefolium) Oil, Mallow (Malya Sylvestris), Horsetail (Equisetum Arvense) Oil, Soybean Protein (Glycine Soja), Cetyl Alcohol (Plant Derived), Stearalkonium Chloride, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Trace Minerals, Citric Acid (Corn), Sodium Hydromethylglycinate, Grapefruit Seed (Citrus Derived)
