Misc Beauty Tools -Anna Sui - Eyelash Curler
rated 5 of 5

I've never been able to find an eyelash curler I Iiked. My eyes are small and Asian, so most eyelash curlers are too big and don't reach the short lashes at the corner of my eyes. This one does and is my HG eyelash curler. It's also a great price, $8 where I live. It's also super adorable and well made. I recommend this curler to everyone!

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - ColorIcon Palette in Lust [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
hannahx831 9/28/2010 4:27:00 AM

I have to jump on the bandwagon and say how much I love this eye shadow palette. The colors are great and the shadows themselves are good quality. Silky and creamy and very blendable. The price is also great. The included sponge and brush are cheap, but I rarely ever use the applicators that come with products anyway. I'm not sure I'd purchase any of the other palettes though, just because I'm not a fan of the colors.

Palettes -Cargo - Wet/Dry Eyelining Palette

I got this on sale at Sephora for $8, which I think is a great deal. I would not pay the full price of $32 for this. I thought the liners would wear darker than they do... The pigmentation is a little disappointing. But good daytime or light eyeliner look. I especially like the purple color. I'm Asian with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes, and the purple really makes my eye pop. I wish it were sold separately!

Powder -Lancome - Dual Finish Versatile Powder Makeup
rated 4 of 5
hannahx831 9/3/2010 2:10:00 AM

I remember my mom using this stuff when I was in High School, and I'd always steal it and use it when I went out, but I remember it being too cakey. I didn't try it again until now. I actually really like it now. I don't think it's made for younger skin... I really like the wet or dry option and when used wet, it covers nicely. I really like the color too, Matt Sand III for me. But I really don't like the fragrance and I'm not too picky about that stuff. I believe there is a fragrance free version, but Macy's didn't have it in stock. I also think the compact itself is too bulky. There is a smaller version for $29.50 that's just slightly less bulky...but I went with the bigger compact so that I could get the free gift. I only buy dept store makeup when there is a free gift, otherwise it's just a little too expensive imo. But overall, as a powder foundation this stuff is pretty nice, but not an HG product.

Palettes -Too Faced - Glamour to Go II Palette
rated 4 of 5
hannahx831 8/20/2010 12:20:00 AM

I was excited about this little palette when I first saw it online, and ordered it right away. After I received it, and saw the mixed reviews, I was wary of trying it out. I considered returning it, but I'm glad I didn't. I actually really like the colors. The shadows are frosty, but it looks nice. The blush looks like a nice light peachy/coral on my cheeks, and the glosses pop on me too. Nice and natural, and great for travel. I've been looking for an everyday palette I can keep in my makeup bag, and this is it! It doesn't really have the colors to create a nice evening look though, but it'll do in a pinch. Too Faced is one of my favorite brands because of the great palettes they sell. I just wish they listed the colors! Overall, great palette, but it's not for everyone.

Lip Treatments -Korres - Lip Butter - Pomegranate
rated 4 of 5
hannahx831 8/12/2010 3:11:00 AM

I received this in a box set from Sephora, but wasn't really interested in it. I finally tried it out after having it for a few months, and I'm surprised I like it. It's a nice sheer color that I believe flatters most skin tones, and is very moisturizing. It smoothed out my chronically chapped lips. I also like that it can be used on the cheeks. I love multi-tasking products. The only thing I don't like is that the color fades very quickly on the lips. I'll probably just use this over a lip stain. Over all good product, and though $10 isn't bad... I'm not sure I'd buy this stuff again unless it came in a set with something else.

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - 20% Shea Butter Hand Cream
rated 5 of 5
hannahx831 8/10/2010 9:44:00 AM

Love Love Love this stuff. I got a 10ml sample of this as a part of Nordstroms beauty event. I don't typically use hand cream, so I just put this in my sample drawer and forgot about it. I moved to a humid climate and started getting eczema like rashes in my joints (elbows, underarms, etc). I tried all kinds of anti-itch healing products that did nothing. I found this in my sample drawer and put it on before bed time. By the time I woke up my rashes were much better! After a few days of nightly use my rashes are all gone! The texture is creamy and soaks right in. The smell is just a nice lotion smell. Not strong. Great stuff! Will definitely purchase a tube when my sample runs out.

Skincare - Face -Ole Henriksen - Truth Serum
rated 4 of 5
hannahx831 8/10/2010 9:24:00 AM

I received a deluxe sample of this from Sephora as a Beauty Insider perk. The serum soaked in right away and made my skin feel tightened. I noticed my skin was much brighter while I used this product, and my spots seemed to fade slightly, but I'm also using other products that promise to fade spots. I'm not sure if this product did much for collagen boosting though, I wasn't looking for that affect. Overall I think this product does what it says it will, but I'm not sure I'd actually buy it. I feel like there are probably better products out there. I'm not a fan of the clear packaging either.

Treatments (Eye) -Lancome - High Resolution Eye - Refill 3X
rated 2 of 5
hannahx831 6/3/2010 2:25:00 AM

I received a small jar of this as a GWP and this is the first eye cream I have actually hated, and I have tried many eye creams. I'm just starting to get some fine lines and crepiness under my eyes and just ran out of my Avon Anew Ultimate Contouring Eye System (lines and crepiness appeared after I stopped using). I was hoping this product would help, but it's done nothing for me. If anything, it's made my under eyes slightly worse. The thing I hate most about it is that it balls up if I put anything over it, sunscreen, foundation, concealer, etc. I've never had that problem with any of the other eye creams I've tried out. I can't say anything about the price, but since it's Lancolm I'm sure it isn't cheap. Now I've only been using this product for a week, so I'll give it another to see if anything changes. If so I will update. Otherwise, I'll use this stuff up on my husband. He's my product reject guinea pig! lol. I might try the Roc multi-correxion line. If that fails, will order more Avon Anew! Note: I just moved to a hot humid tropical island and my skin and regimen are going through some big changes!

Scrubs -Olay - Regenerist Microdermabrasion and Peel Kit
rated 5 of 5
hannahx831 5/24/2010 12:52:00 AM

I've only used this stuff once, but this product made my face feel the softest and smoothest it's felt since I was a baby! I grabbed my husband and demanded he feel how smooth my face was and even he was impressed. I don't know what the long term effects will be yet, but so far I love it. It's a bit pricey for drugstore, but still cheaper than department store. I will update after using it a few more times! Edit: So I've been using this product 1-2x a week, along with .025 retin-a each night, and my skin looks great! Pores have shrunk and texture is much improved! Sunspots have also faded

Powder -Lumiere - Veena Velvet
rated 4 of 5
hannahx831 5/22/2010 5:40:00 AM

I love this foundation. When I decided to make the switch to mineral foundation, I gave bare minerals a shot and was simply unimpressed. I couldn't find a color that matched my skin tone, and there just wasn't enough staying power. I tried a few others before I stumbled across Lumiere on a google search. I'm so happy I did! The veena velvet formula works great on my combination skin! It stays on for hours and gives a great buildable coverage. The finish is very matte, which I like, and zero breakouts! The color range is wide and made it easy to find my perfect color, Light Medium Golden. They also have great sales and discounts on bulk buys. I used this foundation everyday in LA, but recently moved to Guam. The weather here is tropical and hot with 100% humidity. I was worried my foundation just wouldn't hold up, but it works just as well for me here! Love this stuff!

Treatments -MD Skincare by Dr. Dennis Gross - Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel
rated 5 of 5
hannahx831 1/26/2010 4:11:00 PM

This stuff is fantastic, but just a little too expensive for me. I made the splurge and bought these a few months before my wedding, and my skin was instantly improved. By the time my wedding came around, my skin was flawless!

Treatments -Peter Thomas Roth - Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads
rated 4 of 5
hannahx831 1/24/2010 6:26:00 PM

I simply love this stuff. It does everything! Shrinks pores, helps with discoloration, wrinkles, uneven texture, acne etc. etc. I originally fell in love with the MD skincare Alpha Beta pads, but they're so expensive! I looked at these PTR pads and the ingredients were very similar, and the price is much cheaper, so I decided to give PTR a try. I'm glad I did, these work great at a much lower price, though I will admit that the MD skincare seems to work a little faster. These are definitely my HG product. I get a lot of compliments on my skin, and rather than going through the list of the many different products I use, I tell people that this is my secret skin weapon. I recommend it to all of my friends! But, if you do have the extra money to spend, give the MD skincare a try too!

Moisturizers -Olay - Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream
rated 5 of 5
hannahx831 1/24/2010 3:50:00 AM

After seeing the commercials and hearing how it beats out the really expensive stuff, I decided to give it a try. It is a little on the pricey side for a drugstore brand, but it's worth it. I saw a difference right away. Skin was brighter, softer, smoother and more plump. This product has made me fall in love with the regenerist line! The cream is a little thick, but I use it in the morning over the regenerist serum, which I also love, and my combination skin doesn't get too oily or shiny. I recommend this product to everyone trying to fight the signs of aging!

Treatments -Olay - 14 Day Skin Intervention
rated 4 of 5
hannahx831 1/24/2010 3:32:00 AM

I found this at big lots for just $10, so I bought it and decided to try it. I noticed a difference after the first night. My skin was brighter, softer and more plump looking. After the first 7 days my skin looked great. I have minimal fine lines from my nose to mouth, and they were slightly improved. It also got rid of this awful rash I've had for months at the back of my neck! I started using the tubes for days 8-14, but after using it for the first time I broke out with a few pimples. I tried it for the next 4 nights and got more pimples each time, so I stopped using it. I think the first product is great, but the second one seems to clog my pores. I hear the first cream is just like the Regenerist night cream, so I will try that next and hopefully get the same great results as tubes 1-7.
