Moisturizers -Origins - Have A Nice Day Lotion
hannahdlc 1/11/2013 11:34:00 AM
Awful packaging and awful product! I found it very difficult and frustrating to get the right amount of lotion out, a pump action or a tube would be much more useful. Once I finally got the stuff on my face, it smelled lovely and seemed to sink in nicely, but within an hour my face was like an oil slick, yet felt dry and tight underneath the oil. I do have combination skin but with any other moisturiser I've used I don't get as oily as this one made me. To make things worse, after 3 days of use my skin broke out in itchy bumps along my jaw and little under skin bumps on my forehead and around my nose. I don't know if this was the Night-A-Mins cream or the Origins cleanser I was using but it was definitely caused by an Origins product because this was the only change I made to my skincare routine. Not impressed at all!

Moisturizers -Origins - NIght-A-Mins Cream
hannahdlc 1/11/2013 11:29:00 AM
I bought the oil free version of this cream and I have no idea what all the fuss is about. With any other moisturiser, my skin is combination but this just sucked all the moisture out of my face no matter how much I put on. My face felt tight and uncomfortable when I went to bed and was no better in the morning. My skin definitely wasn't 'replenished' as it promises. I do have to say that I love the smell though. To make matters worse, after 3 days of use my skin broke out in itchy bumps along my jaw and little under skin bumps on my forehead and around my nose. I don't know if this was the Origins cleanser or day moisturiser I was using but it was definitely caused by an Origins product because this was the only change I made in my skincare routine. Not impressed!

Cleansers -Origins - A Perfect World Deep Cleanser
hannahdlc 1/11/2013 11:24:00 AM
The woman at the Origins counter recommended this as a gentle cleanser, and while it is gentle, it doesn't do a good job of cleansing at all. It left an unpleasant film on my face and I never quite felt clean. Plus, I'm lazy and I like my cleanser to be up to removing my make up which this certainly wasn't - the towel was orange when I dried my face after trying to use this cleanser to take my make up off. To make matters worse, after 3 days of use I broke out in itchy bumps all along my jawline and tiny bumps on my forehead and around my nose. I don't know whether this was caused by this product by the Origins moisturisers I was using, but it was definitely caused by an Origins product as this was the only thing I had changed in my skincare routine. The only thing I liked about it was the scent.

Liquid -Clinique - Anti Blemish Solutions Liquid Make Up
hannahdlc 4/30/2011 6:05:00 PM
I had a really bad breakout after trying a new foundation, which I then replaced with this. The lady at the Clinique counter recommended it to me because of the breakout and because I am generally acne prone. When I put the foundation on the next day, it looked so bad that I ended up crying and considering cancelling my plans. It didn't cover anything, looked horribly cakey and chalky and accentuated any dry patches, even though I put plenty of moisturiser underneath. After a few hours' wear, it did look less cakey but I think this was only due to oil developing, as a result of the foundation drying out my skin. I tried it again this morning and got the same cakey results so I went straight back to the shop and returned it! The name of this foundation is really appealing as I was fooled into thinking it would actually cover and help heal my acne, but as my skin isn't particularly oily, it looked hideous on me and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Mascara -Sephora - Atomic Volume
hannahdlc 3/8/2011 1:25:00 PM
Contrary to lots of other reviewers, I love this mascara because it DOESN'T give me clumps or spidery lashes! I always wipe the wand on the neck of the tube because too much tends to come out and if you do put too much on, you risk crispy lashes, but if you wipe it you get great results. The wand has one row of longer bristles which act like a comb and separate my lashes, making them look long and full. It lasts all day without smudging or flaking and the only downside is that it's a little pricey and I can only buy it when I go to France.

Fragrances -Yves Saint Laurent - Elle
hannahdlc 3/8/2011 1:20:00 PM
This is definitely my favourite evening fragrance, I love it! It is woody and spicy but sufficiently floral to sweeten it up a little and make it more feminine. As it is quite heavy I rarely wear it in the daytime, and I prefer to use it as a winter fragrance. The staying power is great, it lasts for hours. And as a bonus the bottle looks so pretty in my room! I will repurchase forever.

Cleansers -Avene - Cleanance soapless gel cleanser for oily skin
hannahdlc 6/13/2010 6:44:00 AM
First off, I love the packaging - the twist top is really handy, especially for travelling. I've been using this for about two weeks and at first I hated it - my skin seemed to get oilier which is exactly what I didn't want! But I stuck with it and now my skin stays matte but comfortable all day. I have quite sensitive skin and am prone to light acne but this cleanser doesn't irritate or strip my skin at all. My spots are definitely getting smaller and my pores seem to have shrunk too! I am impressed and as long as nothing changes I will repurchase!

Cleansers -Kiehls - Ultra Facial Cleanser
hannahdlc 5/18/2010 2:10:00 PM
I've been persevering with this product for about 4 months but I'm finally giving up. I like the rich, creamy lather and it gets every bit of make up off but it just isn't helping with my spots. In fact, I think the creamy texture may actually cause spots. If you've got dry or combination skin I'd recommend this but not for oilier, break out prone skin like mine.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Embryolisse
hannahdlc 4/11/2010 1:13:00 PM
I had read about this in a magazine and it said that all make up artists and models swear by it, so I decided I had to get myself some to see what all the fuss was about! I bought this version, the Lait Crème Concentré and the lighter version, the Lait Crème Fluide. I started using this, the heavier one, as a night moisturiser and at first I loved it. My skin felt smooth and supple in the morning, but after about 2 weeks of using it, I started to get blackheads and pimples on my nose and forehead. I had been using the Fluide as a body lotion and started using it on my face too. All the spots vanished and I still had the same soft, supple skin in the morning. I'm still using the Fluide version two years later and I stock up every time I go to France. I love this product so much! Just a simple, cheap moisturiser (!7 euros for 500ml) which makes my skin look and feel great!

Blush -Chanel - Narcisse [DISCONTINUED]
hannahdlc 1/24/2010 10:47:00 AM
This is my favourite blusher ever! I'm really fair skinned so many blushes look too clownish on me, but this delicate pink shade is so pretty and natural looking and if I do want a slightly darker look it's easy to build up the colour. I'm not a huge fan of the little tiny brush that comes with it - I just apply it with my normal blush brush and it looks much better. Thankfully it's not been discontinued in Europe (I live in the UK) and I can't imagine it ever being because I know so many people who swear by it.

Treatments -Liz Earle - liz earle spot on
hannahdlc 1/24/2010 10:39:00 AM
This product seemed to get rid of spots really well and then when they had gone and I stopped putting it on them, they just came back! Also, the smell was horrible - way too strong and it was all I could smell for ages after applying it. Will not repurchase.

Toners -Liz Earle - Liz Earle Instant Boost skin tonic
hannahdlc 1/24/2010 10:36:00 AM
I loved the smell of this product, but that's about it. In conjunction with the Cleanse and Polish, Skin Repair Light and Spot - On, my skin broke out really badly. I thought it was just the whole 'it has to get worse before it gets better' but my skin never got better! I've stopped using all the products now and my skin has never been better.

Skincare - Face -Liz Earle - Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish
hannahdlc 1/24/2010 10:33:00 AM
I got the young skin starter kit as a gift and I really wish the person who bought it me hadn't wasted their money. The first few days of using the product I noticed that my face felt smoother and my skin looked brighter, but I think that was probably only down to the exfoliating cloth. Then, I started to get really bad, painful spots on my forehead and I got lots of little ones all around my nose, where I've never had spots before in my life. I dismissed it and thought that it was the whole 'it has to get worse before it gets better' thing, but my skin just got progressively worse until I finally switched to Dermalogica and now it's never been better. It seems like I'm one of the only people who doesn't rave about this product - in fact, I hated it and will certainly not be buying a full sized bottle!

Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Clean Start Bedtime for Breakouts
hannahdlc 1/24/2010 10:27:00 AM
I got the Clean Start starter kit two weeks ago and already my skin is completely clear. I don't much like the smell of this product but I don't care because it does such a good job! If I have any spots, I just cover my face in this product before I go to bed and by morning, my skin is clear, smooth and not red at all. It even dealt really well with the nasty breakouts I get around my period - it was nothing compared to usual! I will definitely be buying a full sized bottle when I run out.

Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Clean Start Welcome Matte SPF15
hannahdlc 1/24/2010 10:24:00 AM
I got the Clean Start starter kit two weeks ago and I've been using all the products except this one. I do have some spots but my skin isn't very oily so I don't find this moisturising enough and I got dry patches around my nose after using it for a few days. However, I think it smells like coca cola which strangely is really nice, and for people with oily skin I think it would be a great product.
