Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
halliebean 5/19/2012 10:29:00 AM
Wanted to like this, as I'm on a quest for a gel eyeliner that STAYS and doesn't look like I'm wearing grey eyeshadow at the end of the day. Alas, it isn't for me. I usually use Maybelline's Line Stilletto Waterproof, but opted for this one as my local drug store was out of it. Tried using a primer and a powder, but nope, this stuff doesn't stay on me. I don't normally have oily lids, so I guess me and the formula just don't mix. It's cheap enough to give it a go if you're curious...but I won't buy it again.
Lip Treatments -C.O. Bigelow - My Favorite Lip Balm

This review is for the My Favorite Balm Night Treatment (couldn't find it here on the reviews). Wow! Very effective and smoothing out lines and leaving lips very moisturized. Applied it at night and awoke to very smoothed out lips. My lips still felt moisturized and supple during the day. I can't say that other lip balms have had that same long lasting effect for me. Felt great going on, not too gloopy and had a pleasant taste to it. Will definately buy it again :)
Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturizer

I am very impressed with this moisturizer. It's been a week so far and I have noticed a difference in the texture, look and feel of my skin. My skin has become more smooth, little bumps I had around my chin and on my forehead/hair line have disappeared. Close up in a mirror I can see the fine lines around my mouth and eyes are softening and getting a bit smaller. I also have a "glow" that's starting to illuminate. I normally wear Benefit's Hi Beam highlighter, however in the last few days, I've noticed it being a bit redundant to apply. Who'd have thought!! There was a slight tingling upon first application, but I'm told a retinoid has an exfoliating property. The tingling only lasted a few seconds. I don't have overly sensitive skin though I am a pale, freckled redhead, but have broken out with some products from different brands in the past. However, I have yet to break out with this stuff (knock on wood). Will DEFINATELY buy again! Thanks Neutrogena...I think I may have found my anti aging HG product!
Eyeliner -Maybelline - Line Stiletto liquid eyeliner
halliebean 8/5/2011 5:28:00 PM
Wow. Am now a liquid liner convert. I have been loyal to Maybellines various liners such as UnStopable, over the years, but always got frustrated with how the product would last about a few hours, then would end up in the crease of my eyelid...(and this is using primer, waterproof varieties, etc). Well not anymore. This stays on (granted I have the waterproof formula), and on and ON. I want to say, about 8 hours or 9 hours? My job requires me to work a variety of times throughout the day (an early morning gig for a couple hours, then an afternoon gig, then an evening gig), so I don't always have time to reapply my eyeliner. But now, I don't have to. It doesn't end up on my eyelids as well! This product is incredibly user friendly to apply. In the past when I tried a liquid eye liner, I was so intimidated that I'd mess up and have to start over. But the liner pen on the Stiletto is so fine and application is relatively smooth and painless. I bought the brown-black color (am a redhead, pale, freckles etc) and two coats gives a nice natural, but still visible "finished" look. Am pretty happy and will definately buy again!
I bought this product last week and have been wearing it all week, so as to be able to be fair in my review. I struggled at first with lashes clumping together, the product just didn't separate my lashes. Then decided to wipe off some product before applying, which helped out tremendously with the clumping. (But eek, am wasting and losing product - grrr). It does lengthen my lashes and gives a whispy, fake eye lash look. It stayed on all day (mostly from about 6 am - 9 pm at night). The smell though is nauseating! It reminds me of mosquito repellent. I"ll use it up, but then perhaps check out other lengthening mascaras. For the price though, sure I'd buy it again. But the smell, coupled with having to wipe off the wand to prevent clumping tells me I should continue my quest for a lengthening 'scara.
I have struggled with dry cracked icky feet for years...and have tried all KINDS of foot lotions, creams, body butters, soaks, blah blah blah. but this, THIS completely has healed my icky feet. yes, the feel is different (and am glad because so many foot creams just are thick lotions, and like another reviewer wrote, the heel on our feet is a whole different kind of skin). i find i only need a little bit to really give me smooth, soft feet the next morning. the smell is pretty great too - coconut-ish freshness! i get so tired of the same peppermint, fakey chemically smells out there on the market. i am quite a fan of burt's bees products and THIS is up there on my faves from the line!
Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion
halliebean 7/22/2011 6:17:00 PM
Sigh, I have been using Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion over the years as it truly has been the most hydrating lotion I have ever put on my dry, lil body. It was a staple in both my house and that of my family, we've got bottles haphazardly strewn about our flats! You never know when you're skin's going to need a drink. Though, in my trek to weed out my products from the ones that test on animals to the ones that I don't, it came to my attention that Aveeno does test on animals. Sigh, sniff sniff...sorry Aveeno, I do love your lotion, it really does work at keeping my skin hydrating for a LONG time. However that's just not cool that you test on animals. Sigh, won't be buying you again, sniff sniff
I heart my karma kream. I've bought sooo many tubs of it over the years, I've lost count. I always get compliments when I wear it, and especially when I'm hugging someone :). My only beef would be that it's not the most hydrating lotion in the world; don't get me wrong, it does the job, but it's not over the top hydrating is all. The scent though is so lovely and funky which is why I keep buying it over and over again. I've bought the karma scents (the lil solid perfume tin and the solid stick) and I feel like the lotion smells better on my skin than the perfume.
Moisturizers -Aubrey Organics - Sea Buckthorn & Cucumber w/ Ester-C
halliebean 7/22/2011 6:01:00 PM
Big fan of the Ester C Antioxidant Serum. I love how it warms my face and adds a healthy glow. I gave it 4 lippies as I'm not a fan of the size, wish there was more in it. I go through a tube per month! And at 20 some odd dollars a pop, that's a bit pricey. Also I have to make sure I really work it into my skin, as the Vitamin C color can leave that 'glow' looking off if I don't really work it in. However, when I've tried other serums (Burt's Bees, Olay, Meaningful Beauty, Body Shop, etc) they've not come close to Aubrey's. So Aubrey's it is!
Ahhh Cetaphil, how I love thee, let me count the ways. This is my all time favorite cleanser. Takes off grime, oil, makeup, while leaving my skin feeling hydrated and moisturized. My skin actually looks like it's been brightened after I've washed my face! Cetaphil came into my life after my sister's (also a pale redhead with funky skin) dermatologist suggested she pick it up. Ever since, I've become a loyal cetaphil consumer. I think it's actually changed the texture of my skin to dare I say it...NORMAL! I've tried to experiment to see if there's other cleansers out there that could beat out my cetaphil, however I always come back to it. Cetaphil Daily moisturizing lotion (spf 20) is also a gooder too. Very hydrating without greasy.
Styling Products -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease Hair Serum
halliebean 7/22/2011 5:36:00 PM
Yep! This is a gooder if you have wacky "can't make up its mind" hair (am I wavy, am I curly, am I straight...NOPE I'm frizzy) like me. I often have to put my hair up in a ponytail in the afternoon to not have to expose the world and myself to the frizzy mop that is my hair. This product though, keeps my wavy curls in check for the ENTIRE day (I'm no longer sporting elastic bands around my wrist for my afternoon ponytail fix) and adds a sheen to them too. Will definately be buying this again.
Treatments (Eye) -Meaningful Beauty by Cindy Crawford - Eye Creme
halliebean 7/22/2011 5:31:00 PM
After many late night, bad infomercial watching, I caved and ordered the 30 day trial kit through Ebay. Ugh, never again. I have combo to dry skin and have been experimenting with a variety of anti aging products for some time, without ever breaking out. This was the first time in a long time I had an adverse reaction to a product. Whammo, after about 2 days after using the products, I broke out into little bumps and zits around my eyes. I also noticed an intense burning sensation (not the "oh wow, this feels tingly clean on my face") but an itchy burn after applying both the eye cream and the masque...especially the masque. The scent is pretty chemical-ish and fake. Was disappointed as I was looking forward to trying this. The glowing serum didn't particularly make me glow. I get better results using Aubrey Organics Ester C Antixodant serum, then applying sunscreen! Sorry Cindy, this was definately not meaningful for me, and I didn't feel beautiful afterwards.
After having tried various nudey/pinkish/beigish glosses, I think I've found my lipgloss soul mate. I'm a redhead, with freckles and so have had a heck of a time finding a neutral that's got depth to it and isn't just a bubble gum pink or orangey peach (blech!). After explaining my lip gloss woes to the MAC peep, she tried this on me and DONE, I scooped it up in an instant. Feels great, its warms up my freckles and complexion and gives me a natural, glowly look. Thank you MAC!
