Crème -MAC - Full Coverage Foundation
gvmullins 9/27/2012 2:51:00 PM
This is the same product as their studio finish concealer, only without spf. So, treat it as such. I happen to LOVE it. I'm saving a ton of money by buying this - its HUGE and only like $10 more expensive than that tiny little pot you get with the concealer. I use it mostly as a concealer, but times I want a heavier look (stage, dark lighting) I use it more generously. It's heavy, it's full coverage, and it's not messing around. Amazing product. Use it properly, or you'll probably end up writing a bad review which I think is the case with most of these reviews here. Ask a consultant!

Misc Beauty Tools -Make Up For Ever - Glitter
gvmullins 1/9/2012 2:52:00 AM
I have found the perfect shade of gold glitter, FINALLY! This is the THE gold glitter ladies. (it's #1 in the line, in case you want to order it) Not too brassy, coppery, orange, yellow...its a realistic 14 karat soft gold. Ive been using the MAC gold glitter for a while because there's literally nothing better out there, and it's way too copper. It's not even gold! Frustrating. Until that is, I found my perfect coveted gold glitter in this awesome product! :-D Additionally, the size of the glitter pieces aren't too big or small. This is important to me. Big pieces = drag queen/halloween look, small pieces = shimmer, not glitter. I have a gangload of gold shimmer, I don't want another one, thank you! This line of Make Up Forever glitters is perfect, and the shades are rich in pigment and pretty versatile as well. I dip my brush in the glitter and then lightly tap the brush 1 inch over the area I'm applying so that it lightly falls on and creates a delicate dusting of glitter that is definitely eye catching. Note, you will need some kind of primer or sticky foundation to make sure this does not migrate, since it's loose glitter. I just use m foundation or concealer to get it to stay put. If I want to create an especially striking look, I'll be more generous with it and press it right onto my eyelid, sometimes doing it wet. I did this for New Years Eve and got many compliments! LOVE!

Polishes -Sinful - Rich In Heart
gvmullins 1/9/2012 2:14:00 AM
This nail polish is exquisite. It goes on like Chanel nail varnish - like satin. The color is SO rich and beautiful. It's one of my staples for both hands and toes. This usually lasts on my hands about 3-4 days (ALL nail polishes chip super fast on my hands - I guess I'm really rough on them? lol) and 2 weeks on my toes. I wouldn't call this color red at all...a deep, luscious burgundy. Ugh - its so pretty and sophisticated. Sometimes I put gold glitter on top of it to match my gold and garnet ring I wear and I get tons of compliments - girls stop me all the time to ask what I'm wearing. Side note - how awesome is the Sinful brand!?!? AMAZING colors, decent quality, and for 2 bucks!??!?! I love this brand. I've found a ton of great shades that beat all the other expensive brands and go on much smoother and more rich in pigment. Heart Sinful! Their gold glitter is the ONLY one I'll use...and I searched and searched for the perfect shade of gold glitter for a long time (the right shade of gold lipsticks-eyeshadows-glitter- can be really hard to find! They're often too brassy, too coppery, too yellow, etc). Sinful is da bomb! lol.

Bronzers -L'Oreal - Bronzer Body Tinted Gel (One day)
gvmullins 9/19/2011 12:36:00 PM
I am feeling this product! I use this as an additional add-on over my regular self tanner. It adds an extra "umph". I don't think it would tan me enough by itself, but on top of my self tanner it really brings a glow. I also REALLY like how it sinks right into my skin quickly and does NOT RUB OFF! This is the issue with most wash off bronzers out there. They have a glittery, shimmery texture that sits on top of my skin and wipes off on everything! My clothing, other people's clothing...you name it. I even marked my friends wedding dress about a year back from accidentally touching her dress with my arm. This stuff acts like a stain, but only lasts one day. I really dig it! I'll be buying another one. And, it's CHEAP! Just say no to being pale. I think this even outdoes my beloved Lorac Tantalizer. I'm sick of that stuff rubbing off on EVERYTHING!

Skincare - Body -LUSH - Mange Too massage bar
gvmullins 9/3/2011 9:40:00 PM
I really love how velvety and luscious this bar goes on. And the SMELL! To die for. So sexy. The lush massage bars are great alternatives to other intense moisturizers that contain parabens and other harmful stuff I dont want. They go on smoothly and moisturize like an oil. Velvety and soft. I love any thick body butter but Id prefer to go without the harsh chemicals that some of the come with. Sometimes I find myself putting this on over and over again mindlessly while I watch TV - because it's just such a pleasure to do so! The smell is great too- like warm amber notes. I could do without the bits of whatever it is they put in there, however. What is the point of that? They just get everywhere and flake off. And, how about making a friggin tin that FITS this massage bar so I don't have to store it in a janky plastic bag??? Besides that ~ lovely!

Fragrances -Gucci - Gucci Guilty
gvmullins 9/1/2011 2:33:00 PM
I loooooove this scent. It's juicy. Fruit notes. Blended with light florals. It's a sexy, youthful scent but not in a stripper body spray kind of way. It's still elegant. AND, it doesn't break me out in a rash! A lot of perfumes do, so it's hit or miss with me. I love it. Men compliment it a lot...especially my boyfriend who is notoriously picky. I dig it a lot. Just bought my second big bottle. YUM. Only bad thing is, the cap tends to get knocked off easily in my purse. I may buy an atomizer for it.

Fragrances -Tom Ford - Black Orchid EDP
gvmullins 9/1/2011 2:27:00 PM
Smells great, broke me out in a rash. I'm allergic to about half of perfumes, and this one falls in the "can not wear" category for me. So if you're sensitive, watch out. The more expensive Tom Ford line does not break me out in a rash, so I'm convinced that the quality of this one is less superior.

Fragrances -Bond No.9 - Eau de New York
gvmullins 8/30/2011 10:48:00 AM
This is a very peculiar fragrance. Its one of those that does a complete 180 from the initial fragrance to when it settles into my skin. Usually all perfumes do change somewhat from when you first apply to after it's been sitting on your skin for a while, but this one is a night and day difference. The *reason* I bought this was because of the way it settles in. The initial scent I get when I spray this on is a lot like Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino, which I used to own. A LOT. And although I do like the initial burst of citrus, basil, lots of neroli and the general "freshness" of the smell - it's the fade out that I'm really waiting for. I just cannot describe the smell of this fade out ... it's incredible. The smell that remains is that of a warm, almost velvety type of draping layer that lingers on your skin and just smells "good". I've smelled this (or something like this) on a woman before, and I just cant remember who or when it was, but I remember thinking that she smelled so inviting and good, but not in a perfumey way - but like it was just her natural scent that I was smelling. Slightly sweet, soft skin. That's what this smells like after the initial 10 minutes of citrus that you get. That of a sweet, delicate musky scent that reminds me of lots of soft things. Usually I buy fragrances for how they smell on my skin right away after I spray them, and I'm disappointed with the fade out. This perfume however, is the opposite - I can't wait for the initial notes to burn off, revealing the warm, inviting, delicious and soft undertones that this perfume has. It's expensive, but when you find a great perfume that suits you, it's more than worth it! Enjoy!

Concealers -Too Faced - Absolutely Flawless Concealer
gvmullins 8/21/2011 10:26:00 PM
I am OBSESSED with this product. This is by far the best concealer that I've ever discovered. The consistency is soooo silky and potent. A lot like Makeup Forever's HD liquid foundation - they are complimenting each other perfectly in my makeup routine. Seriously, this stuff is absolutely amazing. The only drawback is that it comes in 3 shades, but with concealer you're usually adding bronzer/setting powder on top of it, so you can blend this to fit your skin type. I wouldn't write it off without giving it a go - you will be surprised how great this stuff is. It has seriously changed my makeup routine. I am sooooo much more pleased with my skin after this! It works well applying it with your fingers, but it works even better when using a concealer/foundation brush. And, the little tube makes it so easy to get the right amount you want out - I feel like all concealers should come in this packaging. It's the BEST. And the price isn't too bad, considering that you literally only need about the size of two pin heads to cover all of your problem areas. Just amazing. Super satisfied! It's replaced my HD Benefit "Erase Paste". GET IT!

Treatments -Kate Somerville - Exfolikate
gvmullins 8/21/2011 10:07:00 PM
I was very displeased with this product. Thank GOD it was a gift and I didn't pay the outrageous ticket price for this half a** product. 1. It burned the crap out of my face. It says on the package some "tingling" is expected, but this burned my face uncomfortably, the entire time it was on and my face was beet red for hours after. And, I don't have sensitive skin either so I know this was extreme. 2. The pump (they might have new packaging now) stopped working after the 3rd time using. Not a biggie, since I can unscrew the cap and scoop it out with my fingers. However, with how over the top ridiculously expensive Kate Sommerville's products are, this is just NOT acceptable. 3. It doesn't exfoliate well. The grains are too fine to really scrape anything off, and the supposed enzymes that are in the product do not remove the dead skin and whatnot that my $6 St Ives Apricot Scrub does. 4. The price of this product and the entire Kate Sommerville line is F*&^#cking outrageous. I'm moderately impressed by her products, and they are definitely not anywhere near worth their cost. I don't recommend. St. Ive's Apricot Scrub is still King in my book! Nothing exfoliates as well as that stuff does.

Conditioner -Neutrogena - triple moisture deep recovery hair mask
gvmullins 8/16/2011 10:01:00 PM
Could it be? Could I have found a replacement to my Holy Grail deep conditioner - Biolage Ultra Hydrating Balm????? It's a bit too early to say for sure, but after using this product three times....I'm leaning towards yes. I have one simple request for my conditioner: it must make my long hair SOFT. Silky, smooth, glisteningly soft hair. Up until now, the only conditioners I had found that had the capability to do this were my HG Biolage and Kerastase conditioners. And we all know how expensive Kerastase products are ... so considering Kerastase as my regular conditioner was just out of the question for me. This hydrating mask makes my hair very very soft. Just as soft as the Biolage and Kerastase, and it was only $7!!! Since I have long hair and only wash my hair every 3-4 days, I think I can get away with using this as my only conditioner. I am so glad that I found this! It conditions very well, and it smells very fresh. Yes, it has parabens, but I am more concerned with parabens in products that actually sit on my skin and sink in (lotions, makeup). Conditioner is applied to my already-dead hair and then is washed down the drain. So I can live with the fact that it has parabens. If you have long hair, this is a must! And, it being so cheap only makes it better. Score!

Fragrances -Kai - Kai
gvmullins 8/16/2011 5:43:00 PM
This review is for the Kai Oil - I couldn't seem to find it listed anywhere on the sight? Kai is incredible. I completely understand why it's such a cult fragrance. When you smell Kai, it's like you're smelling an actual flower. Not a perfume. It is the most amazing fragrance I think I've ever smelled, to be quite honest. The drawbacks: the oil fades away fast on me. So, i tried the E.D.P. - which I was nervous about because I am allergic to about half of perfumes out there and this one was no different....broke me out in a rash pretty quickly. It's SUCH a shame because I absolutely LOVE this perfume. It smells just incredible. People are drawn to you when you wear it. I honestly don't see how anyone could give this scent a bad review. It is like being transported straight to Hawaii. I might even go back to the oil and just re-apply every hour because I love it so much. CULT FRAGRANCE FOR SURE

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche in Fairest Nude
gvmullins 8/9/2011 11:12:00 AM
I think a more accurate name to describe the color of this shade would be "Rose Nude" instead of "Fairest Nude". It definitely is NOT a true nude. However, it's still a pretty color that I wear from time to time. I absolutely LOVE the way Loreal Color Riche lipsticks smell and taste. I saw some other commenters complaining about the smell, so I guess the best thing to do would be smell before you buy! To me it reminds me of my childhood when I'd steal my mom's makeup and try some on. It's a really delicate floral type smell almost? Hard to describe. To be totally honest, that's the real reason I bought this lipstick, because I love the smell so much, LOL. But, I do also like the creamyness it has to it and the color works with my complexion too.

Concealers -MAC - Studio Finish Concealer
gvmullins 8/9/2011 11:08:00 AM
The best way that I can describe this product is that it seems like it's designed for photoshoot or on-set use. It is REALLY potent and thick. It definitely covers up well, but it does have some drawbacks to it. It is really, really thick. Like, if its cold, it doesn't go on well because it's so thick. It's best when its slightly warm and it then goes on a bit smoother. Also, I found it to be a bit chalky at times. This concealer is really intense and isn't necessarily the best for everyday use. For an event, or a photoshoot, its perfect - but after day to day use of this I get frustrated how not smooth it is. Very thick and chalky at times. Also, it does go on and look like makeup. If you have to put a lot on to cover a blemish or something, you'll definitely be able to see that you're wearing something to cover up your blemish, so in a way it almost makes the problem areas more noticeable? And, it creases underneath my eyes, but I haven't been able to find anything that doesn't do that as of yet. It's OK, but I have two little pots of it sitting in my bathroom if that tells you anything.

Bronzers -NARS - Laguna
gvmullins 8/8/2011 9:38:00 PM
I don't know man...I find this one to be really orange? Surprised at the great reviews. Also, it has glitter. Who wants glitter all over their face? Maybe if you guys are just using it as a highlighter or something...but it definitely does not work as an all over color. This one is no match to my Bare Escentuals All Over Color in "Faux Tan". I love that stuff. It's the best for all over bronzing!
