Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Homemade version of Biore Pore Strips
rated 1 of 5

This absolutely did not work! I gave it two chances, and it did nothing. I had a few blackheads quite close to the surface that the Biore strips would have gotten no problem and they are still in my face. The mixture smells absolutely revolting, and takes quite a bit of time to dry so you have to put up with it. I don't know how people get these to work, I followed the directions exactly as many have reported, and they could not remove a single blackhead from my nose or chin. I tried twice, they failed twice, I will not use this again.

Eyes -Ardell - LashGrip Adhesive for Strip Lashes
rated 5 of 5

I disagree completely with the reviewers that say this glue cannot hold lashes for a long time. I gave this glue the hardest test possible, a Lady Gaga concert. I wore Ardell Diva lashes as well as a mask made of rhinestones attached with this glue. For a two hour concert dancing, singing and sweating in a long blonde wig, not a lash moved and no rhinestone fell off. Since I came in from out of the city I had to stones and lashes on for about 11 hours. What more could you expect a lash adhesive to do?

Mascara -Revlon - Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
rated 2 of 5
gryph 5/30/2010 9:34:00 AM

I got this mascara in a giveaway, and am glad I didn't pay for it! Things started off not too bad, this mascara added length and made my lashes a bit darker, but they weren't very thick. The overall look was too subtle for my liking. There was absolutely no clumping which was nice. I tried using a mascara primer but still couldn't get the look I like with mascara. The brush is gigantic, I didn't try using it on the bottom lashes. A few hours later I looked in the mirror and there were flakes everywhere! I have never had a mascara flake before, this was just ridiculous flaking. I'm glad I didn't wear this out! There were also smears of black under my eyes, not a pretty look. If you like a more subtle look to your mascara, and can get this to actually stay on your lashes, it might be worth a try. For me I will not be purchasing and will probably just throw it away.

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - Smudge Brush
rated 4 of 5

I really like this brush. I don't do much smudging, but it is great for putting shadow on the outer V and along the lower lash line.

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation - Intensive formula [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
gryph 2/28/2010 3:20:00 PM

At first I really like this foundation, it gave me great coverage and made my face nice and matte. However, after a closer examination it tends to turn orange by the end of the day and even though I put it on my neck there is a very distinct line of colour change between my face and neck. As if only the powder on my face is turning orange. I also have the faintest of lines around my eyes, but by the end of the night this foundation seems to settle in and make my eyes look really crepey which is not there when I take it off. I was really excited to get the jars with the sifters on my last order, but they just don't seem to work well. I go to school out of the country and have to fly here and back twice a year so had to tape all my minerals shut for the journey. I thought the new sifters would eliminate that problem but I still had powder everywhere. The price is also misleading, unless you are buying 11 other full sized items to get the discount the foundation price per gram is one of the more expensive ones out there. I am switching to a Canadian company that will hopefully offer better foundation at a better price, so no, I will not be repurchasing.

Cleansers -St. Ives - Makeup Remover & Facial Cleanser (all skin types)
rated 4 of 5
gryph 1/31/2010 2:02:00 PM

I ran out of makeup remover and this was the only option at the store. I paid about $7 US for it but since I am in the Caribbean right now and everything is marked up I have no idea what the actual cost is. Still, that's a good price for the amount of product. The ingredients are pretty much the same as Pond's cold cream (what I usually use) with the addition of some camomile fragrance. The consistency is a little thinner that Pond's as well. This did a fantastic job of removing makeup! If you have any mascara left behind, it is because you did not wipe it all up because this stuff definitely removes it. I wipe my face with a damp wash cloth to remove and follow up with some which hazel to get any remaining residue off. You need to gently wipe down your lashes and under your lash line to wash off all the mascara and eye liner. This product can sting if you get it in your eyes, it must be the fragrance. Overall I really like it, and prefer the tube instead of dipping my fingers into a tub of Pond's. I think this will be my new makeup remover!

Polishes -OPI - Off with her red!
rated 4 of 5
gryph 1/31/2010 1:57:00 PM

When I first saw the Alice in Wonderland collection, this was the only polish that did nothing for me. But since I wanted three of the four polishes I went with the mini set. When I put this on my nails it was not at all the orangey looking red I had seen on various blogs but a nice true red cream. I agree with the tomato red description many have given this colour. It went on very smooth (although the brush on the mini is not the greatest, hence the 3 for packaging) and dried more quickly than some of my other OPI polishes. I wore it for three days without a single chip but had to take it off due to a broken nail. I don't wear reds much, and find it hard to find the perfect one but the more I wore Off with her red! the more I liked it. I think if I needed to I would repurchase this colour instead of searching through the magnitude of other reds there are out there since I know I like this one. I definitely recommend you give this one a try!

Polishes -OPI - Absolutely Alice [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
gryph 1/25/2010 3:26:00 PM

I was stalking my Trade Secrets waiting for this collection to come out! I picked up the mini set and so far have used both glitters. The brushes on the minis are a bit small but they work just fine. Absolutely Alice has finer glitter than Mad as a Hatter. With both glitter polishes I had coverage I was happy with in only two coats. I really like the bits of gold scattered amongst the blue glitter, the overall colour is very pretty. I think this polish is great and will definitely repurchase if my mini bottle runs out!

Polishes -OPI - Mad as a Hatter [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
gryph 1/25/2010 3:22:00 PM

I bought this polish as part of the mini Alice in Wonderland set. I had wanted both glitters, and saw my Trade Secrets had the mini set so I grabbed it. Because how often do you wear glitters? I think these bottles are the perfect size, the brushes may be a little small but they are fine for nails. Mad as a Hatter is a multi coloured glitter in clear base. I get coverage I am happy with in only two coats. I love the way this polish looks on the nail! It is so fun! I found it wears pretty well, unless I am doing something where my nails get knocked around. But because it is pure glitter it is easy to fix up any chips. It was also quite easy to remove, peeled right off when I was ready to remove it. This is my first glitter polish and I really like it, would repurchase again if my little bottle runs out.

Lips -Everyday Minerals - New tinted Lip Balms
rated 3 of 5
gryph 1/12/2010 3:27:00 PM

These balms are not so hot on their own. The colours are very flat and washed out. However I have found they are a pretty decent base as long as you put some kind of gloss over top, I have been using Juicy Tubes and the result is much better than the balms on their own. For instance, Pink Lemonade which is absolutely unwearable on its own becomes a lovely shade when I put "Cherry on Top" Juicy Tubes over it. I am going to have to pick no on the repurchase, but if you do want to try them I would definitely suggest a sheer gloss over top. *UPDATE*: This formula has been changed yet again, and it is much better. I got one free when there was a promo code a few weeks back, the colour is "Her Majesty's Secret Service". It was very soft and smooth, a very pretty rosey pink colour. They have doubled the price though compared to the old ones, so I am still going with a no on the repurchase, but if you are willing to spend $8 these ones are not so bad.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set
rated 5 of 5
gryph 7/7/2009 11:37:00 AM

Finally got my hands on these brushes! Specifically went looking for them while on a trip in the states. Love! They are so soft! The blush brush is perfect, deposits the right amount of colour and blends it nicely. Same with the concealer brush. The liner brush is great with pressed and loose powder eyeshadows to make a nice line. I don't really like that the eyeshadow brush is flat instead of fluffy, but it is good for contouring the crease or putting colour on the outer v. I like the little wrap bag that keeps the brushes together and protected. Would definitely repurchase and recommend to everyone!

Concealers -Everyday Minerals - Multi-tasking Concealer
rated 3 of 5
gryph 7/6/2009 8:11:00 PM

This concealer did not cut it for me. When I would put it on my blemishes or acne scars, they were covered, but when I put my foundation on it like disappeared. I thought a lighter coloured concealer would work well for some darker acne scars but I don't know what is up with this one. Will not repurchase, will probably just use my intensive foundation as a concealer.

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation Matte Formula
rated 4 of 5
gryph 7/6/2009 8:08:00 PM

This was my first mineral foundation. It did make my oily skin matte, but a few hours later I was an oil slick once again. Now that I am only moderately oily instead of severely oily, it holds up much better. For now, I am going to switch to intensive because I like the coverage better for some acne scars. If I can get the scars cleared up I will probably switch back to matte so I picked "yes" on the repurchase.

Polishes -OPI - Sea? I Told You!
rated 5 of 5
gryph 7/4/2009 5:05:00 PM

I am really liking this blue polish! It almost has a metallic finish. I think the glitter and base are the same colour, and i really like the effect it makes on my nails. Have yet to put it on toes but I'm sure it would be just as fun. My top coat has gotten too old, and this lasted 4 days without chipping without any base or top coat. Even then it was very minimal, 5-6 days before it absolutely had to be taken off. I did 3 thin coats to achieve the opacity I wanted, but 2 would have been perfectly fine. I also think this polish dries much faster than others I have tried. Love it and would definitely buy again!

Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion
rated 5 of 5
gryph 5/1/2008 10:25:00 AM

I love this lotion. It makes me skin so soft and smooth. I have no dry patches anymore, and some rough patches of skin I had from a reaction to the flu shot have been smoothed over. There is a slight smell, but the bottle says 'no added fragrence'. So it is just the smell of the other ingredients in there. It goes away very quickly. It absorbs quickly and it lasts all day. I put it on in the morning after the shower. A great lotion that works wonderfully, would definitely repurchase.
