Treatments -L'Oreal - EverCreme Deep Nourishing Masque

Oh my goodness, I am totally in LOVE with this product. I don't have too many hair concerns... I'm usually fuss-free with hair maintenance - I usually just shampoo, condition and air dry on a daily basis. My hair is straight, thick and healthy, so I never really felt the need to add special hair treatments/serums/oils/deep conditioners. I tried a sample of this product and was floored by the scent and how it made my hair feel the next day. My hair was shinier and felt softer and smoother! I bought the full-size tub the next day and I use it about 2-3x a week. A little goes a long way, so I still have lots of product left, making it great value for money. Love it!

Fragrances -Trish McEvoy - Blackberry and Vanilla Musk #9 EDP

I'm really sad that I have to write this review. I absolutely adore the scent - it's pretty and sweet without being cheap. I wanted to love it and keep it forever... but it gave me a pretty severe allergic reaction on my skin. Please note that I don't have sensitive skin and I'm not really allergic to anything, so this came as quite a surprise. I like to spray perfume on my pulse points, like my wrists and neck. When I spray this perfume on my skin, it makes me look bruised in that area! The rash would stay on my skin for a few days, even after I stopped using this. While it didn't physically hurt, it looked so bad everytime I used this perfume, so I had to return it. :(

Masks -Laneige - Water Sleeping Pack
grrrrrace 4/10/2013 1:51:00 AM
I LOVE this product. It's a great mask for lazy people like me because you apply it like a lotion and sleep with it on, so it's pretty low maintenance. It applies like a gel-cream, and feels so calming and soothing on my skin. It also absorbs pretty well, so you're not left with a sticky or slimy face while you're trying to sleep. I was skeptical about this product because I have oily skin that's dehydrated, and I worried that it would be too hydrating and rich for my skin type. However, this product turned out to be the answer to my skin problems. It rehydrated my skin without making me more oily, and because my skin was perfectly hydrated overnight, it made me less oily during the daytime. Also, you wake up to refreshed, smooth skin... it's soft to the touch. I totally recommend this to people with my skin type: oily but dehydrated. It'll work wonders, all while you're sleeping. I will always repurchase this!!

Treatments -InnisFree - New Green Tea Seed Serum
grrrrrace 4/10/2013 1:45:00 AM
A simple, nice and lightweight serum that's great for people who generally have normal skin and need a slight skin booster. I liked it, and while it didn't drastically improve my skin, it was a great serum to use during the summer when I didn't want to use anything too heavy and thick on my oily skin. It's light enough to be used day and night. It absorbs quickly, works great under makeup and doesn't leave any weird residue or add an oily film to the skin. I would repurchase it again for the warmer months.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
grrrrrace 4/10/2013 1:39:00 AM
I like this eye primer. I was worried because I have oily lids, so I need to apply some sort of eye primer if I want my eye makeup to last all day, and I heard that this primer wasn't the best for oily skin types. However, I ended up really liking it because it worked well. This primer applies smoothly, and makes my eyeshadows relatively easy to blend, unlike UDPP, which was more like a glue-y consistency and made blending eyeshadows a bit difficult. The only weird thing about it is that it I think it is oil based, so if you don't use the product for a while and then use it again, you'll get an oily discharge from the tube before the actual primer comes out, which is kind of gross. But with consistent use, this primer is great.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - 8-pan Palette "Comfort Zone"
grrrrrace 4/10/2013 1:33:00 AM
I totally get the hype around this palette. Densely pigmented shadows, with a nice selection of shimmery, yet wearable shades. They feel buttery and soft, and they are easy to blend and work with. There's a generous amount of product, especially for the unbeatable price. The only qualm I have with this palette is that there can be a bit of fallout if you're not careful, and the packaging is pretty blegh. But for the price... I'm not complaining, and if I ever run out (which is unlikely because there's so much product), I'll most likely repurchase/

Misc Beauty Tools -Shiseido - Eyelash Curler
grrrrrace 4/10/2013 1:28:00 AM
Like many others, I switched from using the ever-so-coveted Shu Uermura to Shiseido, and I was happy with the switch. The Shiseido curler is better suited for my eye shape, and created a more natural curl at the corners of my eyes, something my Shu wasn't so good at. I liked that the Shiseido curler came with a replacement pad, but if you want to get more, you have to pay $6 per replacement pad, which is pretty expensive, considering the curler costs about $20ish. That being said, I don't use it anymore. I still have it on hand, and I'll throw it in my purse once in a while since I won't be too sad if it gets destroyed while I tote it around. It's not that this curler was bad.. I liked it while I had it. It's just that I found something even better: the Japonesque Power Curl. The Japonesque eyelash curler is cheaper, curls lashes better, and you can request unlimited pad refills!

Eyeliner -Avon - Glimmersticks eye liner
grrrrrace 9/20/2012 9:42:00 PM
I wanted to like this eyeliner because of all the great reviews, but I was pretty disappointed that it didn't work as great on me as it did on others. At first, it glides across my lids smoothly, and it blends like a dream as well if I want a smudged liner look. However, I can count on this eyeliner to smudge all over the place in about two hours. I do have mildly oily lids, but nothing bad enough for eye makeup to be sliding all over the place. I could understand if it started smearing after hours and hours of wear, but it would start smearing and giving me panda eyes within two hours, tops. :( It was cheap, and I really liked the fact that it was a twisty pencil, but I have better pencil liners I can use.

Blush -Revlon - ColorStay Mineral Blush in Honey
grrrrrace 8/9/2012 1:51:00 PM
I’m sad to see that this blush didn’t work on people with similar skin tones as me. I’m an NC20-25 and I absolutely love this blush! To be honest, I only purchased it because it was 75% off at CVS. Before I used it, I checked the reviews here and didn’t have high hopes for this product at all. But I used it, and LOVED the muted beigy pink it gave on my cheeks! I have oily skin, so I’m usually not a fan of shimmer, but the shimmer is very subtle and acts like a highlight without accentuating my pores or oiliness. Like another reviewer said, it’s like a blush, bronzer and highlighter in one, so I love the versatility of the product. Also, this product is the only blush that I’ve been complimented on when wearing it! I ran out to a different CVS and bought 2 backups :)

Mascara -Maybelline - Define A Lash Volume Mascara
grrrrrace 12/30/2011 9:31:00 PM
I bought this mascara during the CVS clearance for around $4. It's not a horrible mascara, but it certainly is not the best. Though this mascara claims to be volumizing, it is more lengthening instead. This added very little volume to my lashes, but did seem to make them longer, which is kind of misleading, but interesting nonetheless. Also, though this claims to be a waterproof mascara, it certainly doesn't act like one. The formula of this mascara is VERY wet for a waterproof mascara, but it does hold my curl pretty well throughout the day, which is surprising because I have stick straight Asian lashes that are hard to curl and hold. However, that being said, the wet formula of this mascara is what broke the deal for me - it smudges. A LOT. Within two hours, I have already developed crazy raccoon-like smudges under my eyes :( I know this mascara is the culprit because it is the only part of my makeup routine I changed, and I never had this problem before. Also, after applying two coats of this, my lashes stay wet for wayyy longer than I'd like, and it'll transfer on my lids or under my eyes fairly easily, like if I blink. It really takes a long time to dry... the formula is that wet. I really wanted to like this mascara. I really like Maybelline's Full n Soft Waterproof, so I had high hopes for this one as well. Instead it's going in the trash, and I will not be repurchasing. EDIT - 1/20/12 - I gave this another go... horrible idea. I never had a mascara that burned my eyes like this one did. Within a few hours, I felt like my eyes had acid in them, and they stung like crazy. After I stopped using this mascara, the burning stopped, so I can only attribute that to this mascara. STAY AWAY!!!

Moisturizers -Shiseido - White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion
grrrrrace 11/7/2011 9:44:00 PM
I bought this product with a friend because she has been raving about it for a while. I bought it because it felt great when I tested it out on my hands, and figured I should give it a try since my friend loves it so much and she has great skin so I thought it might work for me, too. WHAT A MISTAKE! I used it for about a week and loved that it was hydrating without being overbearingly greasy on my oily skin, but after a week, I started breaking out all over my face. It was as if somebody got red stickers and stuck them randomly on my cheeks, chin, and forehead. I was literally breaking out in places on my face I don't usually break out on. I don't have super sensitive skin or anything, so I was pretty shocked. I stopped using it for a few months and then decided that I would give it another try during fall, when I am less oily and my skin gets drier. I thought that maybe less oily skin might equal no breakouts. WRONG! I broke out all over my face again within a week! Tried this again a few weeks ago, only to go through the same ordeal. Now I can pretty much say for sure that this product was the culprit for my nasty breakouts. After I stopped using it, my skin calmed down and went back to normal. So yeah, safe to say that I will not be purchasing this ever again. I'm pretty bummed this didn't work for me since it is working wonders for my friend. She uses this and has the skin of a baby's bottom, so smooth and even! I guess it just depends on the person, but I seriously do not understand why my skin reacts so terribly to this emulsion. :/

Fragrances -Aquolina - Pink Sugar
grrrrrace 10/2/2011 6:33:00 PM
I can understand why people like this. Pink Sugar smells lovely on my friend. But on me? Never again! I get a headache from this because it smells like I've lodged chunks of cotton candy in my nostrils all day. It is so strongly sweet that it is borderline offensive on me.On my friend, however, it smells more like soft vanilla than cotton candy, so it's lovely on her. I guess it really depends on the person and how this perfume blends with their own natural scent. Unfortunately for me, this was a total miss and I will never repurchase. I don't like smelling like a ball of sugar when I'm working in a suit. It's just not right. :/

Liquid -Chanel - Mat Lumiere Long Lasting Luminous Matte Fluid Makeup SPF 15
grrrrrace 9/4/2011 5:36:00 AM
I really liked the consistency and the finish of this foundation on my oily skin, but unfortunately, there is no color match for me. :( For reference, I have Asian NC20-25 with oily skin. I was matched to Cendre (30), and I thought it was a decent match for my skin at initial application. But literally within one hour, it oxidized to a darker peachy/orangy color. It looked like I had a bad tan and rash combination. I would really like this if they had a wider color range since nothing matches me at the moment. Like other reviewers below me, I would not advise anyone to buy this if you have yellow undertones like me.

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole ULTRA [DISCONTINUED]
grrrrrace 9/4/2011 5:29:00 AM
Hands down, this is my favorite foundation EVER. Seriously HG status. For reference, I have oily Asian NC20-25 slightly yellow undertone skin, and I bought this in Ivoire 4 (N). I have pretty oily skin, so I was skeptical when the SA wanted to sell me a really full coverage foundation. But then she tested it on my cheek, and the color was just perfect, and the consistency was wonderful, not thick and pasty like I was expecting at all. It's really hard for me to find a European foundation that matches my Asian skin tone, so I was really excited to test it out. It blends into a slightly powdery satin (but still kind of matte) finish without making my face look chalky, and it really lasts all day like it claims. It also doesn't irritate my skin or break me out even though I wear it for like 18 hours straight, which is rare for any foundation. It smooths out my giant pores and covers the redness on my cheeks, and I find that a lot of times I don't even need concealer when I use this. I also really like that this foundation is true to color from first application until you take it off. It didn't oxidize on me at all throughout the day. Yay! I'm on my second tube of this, and I'm always going to repurchase. I REALLY hope Lancome never discontinues this foundation. I would be really sad. I think YSL's Teint Resist is pretty similar, but TIU is cheaper and lasts longer, in my opinion. LOVE IT!!

Fragrances -Anna Sui - Secret Wish
grrrrrace 7/5/2011 5:11:00 AM
I should warn you that I usually HATE sweet, fruity and citrus-y fragrances, since they tend to smell tacky on me. So imagine my surprise when I tested this out and I just fell in love with it!! I sprayed some on my wrist and I was instantly hooked. It's definitely a sweet perfume, but not sickeningly so or overbearing at all. It's just a pleasant mix of freshness and sweetness with a hint of citrus. Absolutely delightful for spring and summer. I also like the body lotion for this fragrance. It smells even more citrus-y and I might like it better than the perfume itself. Now onto the cons: The packaging is kind of cheesy and looks really tween, esp with the fairy cap, but I can look past that. Also, the staying power isn't that strong. It turns really subtle in about an hour or so of wear. I got this on clearance at Victoria's Secret a long time ago when they were still selling it. Now I can't find it anywhere :( but if i do, I'm definitely repurchasing.
