Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Cream Shadow in Galaxy

A beautiful color, but a bit too much dark drama for me. I have to stick with gold or platinum colors or I feel like I look "made-up." (Probably because I am getting a bit older.) Anyway, I gave it to my sister and it looks great on her and she loves it. I nice formula -- she said it lasted all day without budging.

Moisturizers -Weleda - Wild Rose Face Oil Capsules

I don't know why they don't sell this in the US, but I ordered a jar based on MA reviews from a great store in the UK (along with the Rose eye cream) and boy am I glad I did! Have to stay away from the drug-store retinols in winter and I have been soaking my dry skin in Almond Oil, Vitamin E oil, Olive Oil, etc. And of course, it left me pretty greasy. This oil is light, penetrates the skin, smells like heaven (and I am not uaually a fan of any scented products) and I woke up with softened, lovely skin! It has been SOOOOOOOOOOO cold and dry this winter here in Michigan, and I have so appreciated finding this product. I'm going to Europe this summer and plan to stock up! I use Dr. Hauschka Rose cream during the day, and the combo is an HG for me. My skin thanks me for the natural ingrediants -- yours will too!!!!

Blush -Fresh - Ivory Dust

Well I've tried a number of these pale sculpting blushes, including Becca, Shu Uemura, Guerlane (sp?) and others. This color is AWFUL in the pan but AMAZING on the face! I have fairly pale skin, I don't know the "code' for it, but I wear Stila foundation in 20 watts if that helps. This is like someone who knows skin tones and painting giving me the perfect color and shimmer -- NOT sparkly like Boobi Brown or even Becca. I was truly shocked and would never, ever have tried this if it hadn't been for MUA reviews. I bought it sight unseen from Sephora on line and since it is SO pricey for a tiny dish of blush, was all set to send it back, but NO WAY. The thing is, when you find something that really works magic, you don't care if you spend the $. I highly recommend this to anyone with pale skin as a blush, and I'm sure it would make a lovely highlighter for darker skin. Others have described the color very well -- its really like my cheek bones are sculpted now, without any obvious lines or blotches of "color." LOVE it!!!!

Best no- brainer manicure hands down (ha!) Seriously, I hunted for this thanks to MUA reviews, finally got it on sale at Walgreens. I hope its not being discontinued!!!! Perfect neutral sheer -- not too 'tan' flat, sparkly, chalky, etc. There is a barely there hint of pink undertone which makes it so beleivable. I keep staring at my hands cause they look so elegant and natural.

Gels/Soaps -Shi Kai - Moisturizing Shower Gel
rated 5 of 5
graycegray_ce 2/16/2007 6:12:00 AM

Would I buy this again? I have used nothing but the French Vanilla Shower Gel for years now. Nothing, and I mean nothing is better. I have strayed into some of the other scents, but none are as gorgeous and subtle as the Vanilla. The only other thing I use in the bath is an oatmeal/almond/milk/rosepetal "tea" (I grind it up in the blender then tie into cheesecloth squares) that I make myself. I have turned many friends on to this product. If you have dry or sensitive skin -- or even if you don't -- this is the best shower gel for the $ you could possibly try. I will have a serious problem if they ever stop making it.

Polishes -Essie - Wicked

Black Cherries -- that is the color. It is a suprisingly wearable shade -- dramatic and classic (art-deco classic), and seems to "go" with everything in my wardrobe from black to pink. It gives me an edge, plays up my pale skin and makes me feel glamorous. A pedicure lasts for several weeks -- a manicure -- about a week and a half. I am obsessed with this color and have been wearing it almost exclusively since I bought it a couple of months ago. I finally learned how to do my own nail-painting. Since it is such a dark shade, you must be very careful or it gets messy. Use a base and top coat and your nails don't stain at all. If you still can't do it, take the bottle with you to a salon. If you like drama, you will love Wicked.

Blush -Givenchy - Prisme Again Pearly Satin
rated 5 of 5
graycegray_ce 6/21/2006 6:30:00 AM

Since it is the season to gild oneself ala King Midas, I decided to forgo bronzer and celebrate the cool shade of summer and accentuate my pale skin. This beautiful little compact is a perfect ode to the beauty of light. It has 4 delicately shimmering pastel shades that you swirl together with a brush. The resulting shade is a stunning hint of fruit blossom peachy-pinky-lavender. I LOVE it. I can't imagine this shade would "show up" on dark skin, but it could add the much sought-after gleam. If you are pale and enjoy subtlety, try to find this shade before it's too late (I think its a limited edition, and its sold out at Sephora). The compact is elegant enough to stay on my vanity - I am using it daily anyway! It comes with its own brush but I can't figure out how to open that compartment, hence, I took off a lippie for packaging. I probably wouldn't use that brush anyway. Also, it stays on and does not look "powdery." I wish it was fragrance-free, but its not a bad scent, I just don't like any fragrance. This blush seems to be a hybrid -- part colorpart highlighterpure magic.

I bought Cleopatra and loved it, but wanted to try another. This is juicy and exciting -- really! I am 'in love' with the scent, which is green grape -ish. It reminds me of a favorite beverage of mine -- Aqua Libra.

Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Rose Shimmerbrick Shimmer Brick Compact
rated 5 of 5
graycegray_ce 4/28/2005 4:45:00 PM

Beautiful product! I have the beige shimmer brick which I use as eyeshadow to get that 'candle lit' effect. I use the rose as both eyeshadow and blush. Its not overly sparkly, but gives a great gleam. I especially like the effect in the evening. Too shimmery for day -- looks oily, especially if photographed. I've moved on.

Eye Makeup Remover -Chanel - Precision Eye Makeup Remover

I don't care how much it costs, I am tired to the tug of war I usually go through trying to get my mascara off. This dissolves it instantly without any problems at all. You can re-apply make-up immediately if necessary (going out in the evening) because it isn't at all greasy. Even coconut oil stings my eyes, but this doesn't. I will be using this into the forseeable future.

I know its only water mist, but it is so beautiful and gentle and leaves actual dew on your face. I always have a can available in the warmer months. Just try it before you poo-poo it.

Blush -Tarte - Cheek Stain in Tipsy
rated 2 of 5
graycegray_ce 4/26/2005 6:20:00 PM

I hated tickled peach, but decide to try tipsy because I figured it was the color I had been hoping for. It was that color, but I decided that it still looked clownish and unreal. Plus, it was still sticky and weirdly it was gritty too. It smelled like a lollipop and frankly, I'm over the candy girl thing.I returned it.

I wanted to treat myself so after reading all the glowing reviews, and being a big fan of Dr. Hauschka's rose day cream, I thoght i would give this a try. Well, it seemed a lot like the old "Glycerin and Rose Water" I used to buy at the drug store, only it left my face felling a bit sticky. I returned it and bought a Tocca candelina instead.
