Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Length

Just forget it if you want anything more than a barely-there look. Had to apply 2-3 coats. Maybe use this as your "bottom last" mascara. Dried out quickly.

Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base
grammarrodeoqueen 5/5/2012 3:24:00 PM
I dumped my Smashbox Photo Finish for this. This really is matte, doesn't ball up (at least on me) and goes on really smooth. Sometimes I even wear it alone if I don't have time to put on foundation over it, just this base and some powder, blush and bronzer. My only warning would be that it would be easy to overlayer this and make your face sticky. Gave this product only a 2 for price because in Primerland, the going rate is $30+.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - salon effects
grammarrodeoqueen 5/5/2012 3:02:00 PM
A great beauty innovation. This is what I use when I don't have time for a manicure or just don't feel like spending all that money. I have gotten compliments on my shade (don't remember the name but it was a matte "greige") by women who obviously thought it was a high-end-salon manicure -- they really do look that realistic. I have purchased and repurchased these multiple times. They are adding more and more shades by the month, it seems, too.

Treatments -Frederic Fekkai - Protein RX Anti-Breakage Treatment Mask
grammarrodeoqueen 10/23/2009 1:47:00 AM
smells great, makes my hair so soft, and one tub has lasted a year. (admittedly, I did not use this regularly... more of a "special occasion" or once-every-other-week deal). I especially love warming a towel first and using that to "set" this for 15 minutes while I shave my legs in the bath. :) I have extremely fine hair that sheds all over the place and breaks, and this makes it feel luscious.

Tinted Moisturizer -Smashbox - Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
grammarrodeoqueen 10/23/2009 1:40:00 AM
Disclaimer: This is my first foray into tinted moisturizers (summers where I live are a sweatbox). Great feel, more sheer than I'd prefer -- but that's what it's supposed to be. The shade range is too limiting and it seems too pink for my pink skin. This is just OK -- not a HG, but definitely not bad. I said "no" on repurchasing only because I don't know if tinted moisturizer is my thing -- my skin is very clear but I like to even out the tone with a yellow-based foundation. This product is not for those with blemishes who want some coverage.

Fragrances -Cartier - Le Baiser Du Dragon - Parfum
grammarrodeoqueen 10/23/2009 1:32:00 AM
I appreciate aggressive orientals (I love Must de Cartier) but I don't get this one. Maybe the good stuff comes at the end... I did not stick around for that -- had to wash it off immediately. Apparently my nose is not sophisticated enough for this Cartier frag as I thought it smelled horrible. Can't imagine anyone deliberately putting this scent on with the intent of a positive impression.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Tom Ford Black Orchid
grammarrodeoqueen 10/23/2009 1:26:00 AM
Cannot stop smelling Black Orchid b/c it's so interesting. It's like black licorice -- you love it, or you don't get it. Seems like I pick up a different note every time I smell it. I can't decide if it's for a young vs. older woman, soft and powdery like a nursery or femme fatale. I thought I was a Fracas girl but to me this is much sexier. Kudos to Tom Ford for a wonderful creation that keeps me addicted. Great bottle and lasts all day.

Fragrances -Chanel - No.5
grammarrodeoqueen 10/23/2009 1:13:00 AM
I am sampling this perfume right now (have 2 vials and have worn it every day for 4 days). I like soft powdery yet aggressive scents and although I love the warm, cuddly feeling I get from this, I just can't stop thinking of my grandmother who wore it. It doesn't smell young to me. I'm also not sure that men actually like this scent as much as we girls do (not that a guy's approval is the end-all, but smelling like both of our grandmothers is not the ideal). I am looking for a scent that is similar to this, but younger and sexier. Great staying power.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto
grammarrodeoqueen 9/5/2009 4:03:00 PM
I've tried tons of mascaras in my search for that "could those be falsies?" dramatic look. The first 5 uses of this tube seemed awesome b/c the formula was still wet, but then it was all downhill. Don't fall for the marketing on this one; you'll get stubby spiders at the end of your lids. I also swear this started drying out within 2 weeks of opening. Not worth the money, clumpy, dry.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Color Correcting in Smashing Color Blend
grammarrodeoqueen 4/7/2007 11:31:00 AM
Bought the sample of the "blend" (apricot) color. It provides no coverage -- concealer, foundation, and /or powder is more effective and at half the price. "Feels" good on skin and creates a smooth canvas, but the original clear primer is better for that. Agree w/user below that it does ball up on your skin, looking flaky. Glad I bought the sample and not the full size. Don't waste your money.

Fragrances -Nina Ricci - L'Air du Temps
grammarrodeoqueen 2/21/2007 11:40:00 PM
This is just a very polarizing scent, and from what I've read most people just like it b/c it reminds me of their mom or grandmother or some memory from a few decades ago. Makes me sad to write this, but I think I like this less and less. I'm definitely a floral, even powdery floral girl, but if I were to wear this now, it would make me feel too old. I wore this in the middle of college when I spent my first summer in New York City, and I think I just liked it b/c it made me feel rich and expensive b/c I smelled like a rich and expensive old lady. This is a very sweet, powdery, strong scent..I'm undecided, so giving it 3 lippies -- it's an effective floral, but just has too much potential to smell bad. To me it is not delicate, airy, or fresh at all. You either love it or hate it.

Lotions/ Creams -Flexitol - Heel Balm
grammarrodeoqueen 2/21/2007 7:54:00 PM
Completely bought this on a whim at CVS and it has solved my #1 foot woe: dry, gross heels, esp in winter. I've used it each night for a few nights and already my feet feel softer. This product is totally utilitarian, but way more effective than any pumice stone/foot soak/flowery lotion has been. This completes my home pedicure routine.

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Curious by Britney Spears
grammarrodeoqueen 2/15/2007 11:34:00 PM
I too am ashamed I like this... but I must be doing something right b/c I've gotten so many compliments by people who have no idea I'm wearing Britney Spears perfume! I'm on my second bottle. Do not get the puff atomizer spray pump, no matter how much you like the look of it in your bathroom... Mine AS WELL turned yellow/green and started smelling like rubbing alcohol after 5 mos or so. There has got to be something about it that lets air in if everyone has been having this problem. The lotion is great. Everyone else seems to agree it's only good as a daytime scent, but I definitely wear it at night, too. I think it's sexy and feminine.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer
grammarrodeoqueen 2/15/2007 11:26:00 PM
*Updated question: This product forms little pills when I try to pat/rub on foundation a minute after I put it on! Fans -- what did you do? Am I using this correctly???
Saw this in Allure Mag's feature on cult products, looked up the ratings on here and then went to Sephora and bought a bottle (not cheap). I've been using it for a month now, and after all this analysis, I like it, but not love it. It's more of a luxury product than a "desert island" product. It makes your skin feel good, your foundation go on quickly and smoothly, dulls shine, and makes your skin glow and look softer... I have bumps from acne/sebum occasionally on my forehead, and this sort of mattes them out. It seems to make my makeup stay, but this may be the placebo effect after reading these reviews. This is the type of product I swore I'd never waste money on -- "it's one more step in my morning routine"/"people who buy this are suckers who will buy any product with a lot of hype." Has not made me break out. This is a good product, and I will buy again... but the price better not go up.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Lineworks Waterproof Liquid EyeLiner in Black
grammarrodeoqueen 1/13/2007 11:26:00 PM
Love it! I have the brown, but this does last all day (don't make a mistake lining... or have q-tips handy!), like 10 hours or more. You can make a thick or thin line. Lasts forever -- I only have to buy this 2-3 times at year, at most. **UPDATE: I bumped this down to 2 lippies and that I would NOT buy again b/c I've found something better by accident... I had some $$ on a Sephora gift certificate and noticed their wn brand of liquid eyeliner was $5 (on sale? don't know). Got black and brown and to my surprise, I like it better than Maybelline. The brush on Sephora's is angled so that you don't even have to try to have a steady hand to get a straight line. I realize now that with Maybelline's wand, it was difficult to get a perfectly smooth straight line. No more Maybelline.. Sephora brand is better!
