Loose Powders -Coty - Airspun face powder
gojiberry 4/15/2012 10:04:00 PM
This powder works well upon application but the finish doesn't last more than hour. I have normal to dry skin, yet somehow this powder starts to make my skin look oily after an hour of wear (minus 1 lippie). This is the only powder that makes my forehead look oily and I'm not sure why. I dock another lippie for the artificial smell of the powder. To me, it is on the border of overbearing and I can smell it on my face for hours after application. It's a bit nauseating. Sometimes I worry others may smell it, but my SO said he can't when I wear it. It smells like something my grandmother might wear. I'd rather spend more for a powder that lasts longer and doesn't smell.

Blush -MAC - So Sweet, So Easy
gojiberry 4/12/2012 3:57:00 AM
This is my favorite blush right now. I'm lighter than NW15 and have redness in my cheeks. This blush helps counteract the redness and give a dewy glow. It is an unnatural looking Barbie pink color, but it's subtle with one application. I only need one layer for it to show up well. I also prefer to use this with a blush brush instead of my fingers. I am acne prone and this doesn't break me out. Overall a really great blush for those with a lighter skin tone. This is nothing like dollymix, which looks more red and shimmery on my cheeks. I'd like to try some similar creme blushers, but I would buy this again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Shale Eyeshadow
gojiberry 3/31/2012 3:19:00 AM
One of my favorite eyeshadows. I'm surprised by the negative reviews here. I have had 0 issues with the texture of Shale. Mine is pigmented and applies smoothly to the eyelid as a taupe with plum undertones with slight shimmer. Great for day or night wear. I give it 4/5 because it does not provide the multidimension of the similarly colored shadow in the Dior Crush Glow quad. That one has a creamier and silkier, more multidimensional quality. Shale is decent though and the color emphasizes the green in my hazel eyes. I like Shale as a crease color but my favorite way to wear it is over the entire lid with black winged out liner and mascara. Pretty, easy look.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Boy Bait Cremesheen
gojiberry 3/14/2012 9:21:00 PM
A cute, nonsticky, pale peach/apricot nude gloss with the standard vanilla cake batter scent. Looks subdued worn on its own. No sparkle. I've used the whole tube and am using it as a b2m empty. Probably won't repurchase just because there are so many other glosses to try.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Small Angled Brush
gojiberry 3/14/2012 9:09:00 PM
The worst eyeliner brush I have ever used. I bought 4 of these because of the price and good reviews and I definitely wish now I hadn't. The width of the brush head looks thin in the photos but it's actually quite thick, at least 3 times thicker than the Sephora #15 eyeliner brush I prefer. I wing my eyeliner and with this brush, sadly, you cannot get a extremely thin point at the end of your wing. I don't get as elegant a line with this ELF brush as most other eyeliner brushes. It's stiff but I wish it had slightly more bend in order to line more smoothly. . Also, the handle is way too long for my liking, much longer than any other eyeliner brush I've owned. This can be a complication if you use this while looking into a mirror. And it is true, the first few uses these brushes stink like a cheap factory. For me, the price doesn't cut it. I won't be repurchasing any other ELF brushes.

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Professionnel Angled Liner/Eyeliner Brush #15
gojiberry 3/14/2012 9:01:00 PM
Two of the reviews here make no sense. This brush is definitely not thick and what does "severe" mean? This brush is narrow and the hairs maintain shape well. I use this for gel liner and to fill in my brows and draw and thin, precise tail for each one. This brush makes both tasks very simple. I am going to repurchase another one very soon.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Politely Pink
gojiberry 3/11/2012 3:12:00 PM
Politely Pink is my favorite mac lipstick so far, though I have not yet been able to try Pretty Please yet, which looks similar but lighter. Politely Pink goes on less pigmented than most MAC lipsticks and appears somewhat like a pigmented gloss, though it feels creamy and moisturizing. On my NW10-15 skin, this is enough oomph on color for an everyday looks without looking unnatural. Perhaps I would repurchase, but I want to try Pretty Please first.

Lipstick -MAC - Frost - Angel
gojiberry 3/11/2012 3:07:00 PM
If you're NW/NC15 or lighter, I recommend trying on this lipstick before purchasing. On my NW10-15 skin, this appears way too bright and bold for my everyday liking, definitely not a natural looking pinkish nude. It doesn't look subtle on me as the photos display. A nice lipstick, but not for me.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
gojiberry 3/7/2012 2:16:00 PM
I've repurchased the shade Ivory three times since I'm NW15. This is the best foundation I've get tried, better than HE brands I've tried including Laura Mercier, Clinique, Chantecaille, Dior, among others. Its consistency is quite liquidy and it smells lightly of paint upon the first few usages. I have normal, slightly dry skin that's very sensitive with rosacea and this gives a near flawless foundation finish while still allowing pigmented sun spots and some pinkness to show through. It gives a slightly dewy finish without ever getting oily. The only foundation I think looks better on me is MUFE HD but I'd rather not pay more than $40 for a small bottle. I would repurchase Colorstay again but the problem with Ivory is that it's extremely pink. I will be thing MAC face and body in N1 next.*************************************************************** EDIT: If you like Revlon Colorstay but hate its too pink for you, try mixing it with MAC Face and Body white! I've now tried MAC Face and Body in N1 and it is slightly less pink than Colorstay, but still makes a noticeable difference between my face and neck. So, I purchased MAC Face and Body white and mix it into either F&B N1 or Colorstay Ivory, and it allows me to make the perfect shade. For an everyday light coverage, I use a 1 to 1 ratio of F&B N1 and F&B white, and for medium coverage, I use a 1 to 1 ratio of Colorstay Ivory and F&B white. I think I'm all set with foundation for a while!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Painterly
gojiberry 2/12/2012 9:21:00 PM
EDIT: Some people debate whether this is a base or a primer or both. It depends on how oily your eyelids are. Mine are only slightly oily sometimes, and this is all I need still to get my eyeshadows to stick all day. No need for TFSI or UDPP for me. Also I have changed my mind and I would buy this again because Soft Ochre is too yellow. I would not buy this again because it is too dark for my skin tone, NW15. I prefer that it matched my skin shade more closely so that I can use it to cover any pinkness around the eyes on days I don't want to wear a lot of makeup. The good thing is it wears all day for me without creasing. The pot lasts over a year too. I would repurchase if this came in a lighter shade.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow
gojiberry 2/12/2012 8:09:00 PM
EDIT: Mac paint pots are still my favorite. These crease after about 15 hours for me, not bad. Paint pots apply significantly smoother as well. I have a bias for HE makeup and normally don't even try drug store products. However, I love cream eyeshadows, and haven't been fully satisfied with the color selection of mac paint pots or MUFE aqua creams. I bought Pomegranate Punk because its a shimmery, darker burgundy color with some sparkle. On the lid it doen't show up as opaque and it appears more brown and purple than burgundy. The shimmer is less refined than that of an aqua cream, which is more iridescent. The good thing is it doesn't crease on me even from morning until night (MUFE and mac don't crease on me either). I agree with another reviewer that these are in between the consistency of a paint pot and an aqua cream: softer and creamier than an aqua cream but denser and less greasy feeling than a paint pot. I will repurchase if Maybelline releases some new colors. IMO most of these are pretty unwearable shades for the daytime.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut Oil (All brands)
gojiberry 11/8/2011 2:37:00 AM
1) eye makeup remover 2) moisturizer 3) dietary supplement 4) leave in hair conditioner I CANNOT use this as a facial moisturizer because it causes me to have large cystic breakouts that take a over a week to heal, and my skin is dry as it is. I recommend Spectrum Organic Unrefined CCO in a glass jar. It smells delicious. Will definitely repurchase, mostly for using as an eye makeup remover. It doesn't take mascara off in one swipe, but it does all come off with CCO and water.

Cleansers -Avene - Cold cream ultra-rich cleansing gel
gojiberry 11/1/2011 10:57:00 PM
My favorite cleanser, this helps soothe my dry skin and rosacea without causing any new breakouts. It's gentle, thick, and without any fragrance. It cleanses away all of my makeup well and the only CON is that it can really sting your eyes so be careful.

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner - Black
gojiberry 11/1/2011 10:52:00 PM
A cheaper, better dupe of blacktrack fluidline? I hoped. My HG gel liner is Clinique, but I heard that this was more intense and long-wearing. It is a true black, but it's a pain to draw on along the lashes. It's nowhere near as creamy as Clinique or Mac fluidlines, and I won't be repurchasing. *********************************** EDIT: After a few months the quality of this gel liner seems to degrade. The liner does smudge a little, but it starts to get FLAKY. I cap the little pot well and store it upside down, but when I apply it to my upper lashline it has FALLOUT if that makes sense. Little bits of black fall down onto my cheeks. This one is going in the trash now.
