Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Eau de Toilette - Cherry Blossom

this perfume isn't bad, but I didn't like it. When first sprayed, it smells like bug repellant. Once that dies down, it's a nice clean floral but I didn't like it much because it wasn't sweet or woodsy at all, which are things I tend to go for. No fruit, no vanilla, no sandalwood. Just flowers. I don't like overly sweet scents, I just don't like that this has basically one note that I can smell. This doesn't last longer than 4 hours. This is a fresh floral, nice but it wasn't really me.
I've heard lots of good reviews about this lipgloss, so the other day I finally picked one up in the shade 'Bloom'. It's a soft shimmery bubblegum pink, not too cool but not too warm. I think it would be flattering on pretty much anyone. When I opened the tube, I noticed that the brush was really funny-looking. It's all heart-shaped with a little hole in the middle, and it's slanted. I find that it helps for smooth, quick, easy and even application, depositing just the right amount of gloss. The packaging is very nice, all sleek and slim, kind of hourglass-shaped with silver lettering. I applied this at around 4:00 P.M. An hour later, most glosses would be partially, if not fully, faded. But nope! It looked exactly the same as before. I had dinner a while later, talking and drinking and eating, and the gloss was still perfectly fine. Just a tiny bit less glossy, but barely enough to be noticeable. I then went off to the movies, and all through the two-hour movie, it lasted. It was almost all faded by 7:30, a full 4 and a half hours after application. Um, wow. I've tried a lot of glosses, and none of them have lasted past the three-hour mark. This one takes me to 4 hours at least. This lipgloss is a little sticky, but not so much that it bothers me. It's probably just to help with the lasting power. Overall, definitely a keeper. I might try other shades, but Bloom is a perfect sheer wash of colour. Will most definitely repurchase!
Mascara -L'Oreal - Waterproof Voluminous Carbon Black
glossipgirl7 2/21/2013 2:37:00 PM
This is pretty much my new HG mascara. People are saying it smudges and flakes all over, but I've never had any problems with that. It may be because I don't have oily lids, but I don't know. This mascara provides insane volume and length for an OMG-are-they-real? look. Just the thing for my straight, medium-length, fine lashes. The colour is BLACK. DEEP, DARK BLACK. I have dark hair and lashes, so I tend to wear the darkest shades of mascara because it adds drama and it doesn't look too different from my natural lash colour. It holds a curl fairly well. after 5-6 hours, the curl loosens up a bit, but it's nothing major. I love the packaging. Sleek, slim black-and-gold tube. The brush is longish and kind of on the fatter side. It doesn't have rubber bristles. Holy cow, this stuff deposits a lot of product. I think that's what gives me that dramatic look, but it can glob on the end of the brush. Scrape excess off before application. So I think the search is over for me. I've found my one true love, mascara-wise. Will most definitely repurchase!
Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips in Peach Kiss
glossipgirl7 2/21/2013 2:28:00 PM
So here's just a basic summary of the features of this balm. Price: Around $4-5 CAD. Packaging: In love. The packaging is so cute, I swear people buy it just for that. The cap does get looser with time, and I find it doesn't stay on like it used to. Colour: This shade of Baby Lips has silvery shimmer to it. The shade is a nude kind of colour, and it isn't that pigmented. It has a glossy finish, so it's like a sheer nude gloss. Scent: It's a peachy sort of scent, it smells nice but it's not rave-worthy. Moisturization: It's fairly ok. It does a good job of sealing in moisture, but on chapped, flaky lips, it's not so hot. I recommend exfoliating lips before applying. Lasting: On average, it lasts about 1 hour to an hour and a half. It would probably depend on the person. I really like this lip balm overall- would definitely repurchase.
Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Concentrated Duo - Shady
glossipgirl7 1/21/2013 7:22:00 PM
I bought this when I was looking for a non-shimmery eye shadow(I have enough shimmer for a lifetime). A duo of nice neutral, matte shades- exactly what I'd been looking for. The dark shade is gorgeous- pigmented, close to matte, neutral yet dark enough to be dramatic if I applied really intensely. But the lighter shade? It doesn't show up at all. I'm sure it would show up on a fair-skinned individual, but since I'm tanned, it blends right in with my skin tone, and you can't tell I have it on. Oh, well. The darker shade makes up for it. I would repurchase, just for the darker shade.
Let me start off by saying that the smell of this lip balm is just AMAZING. It's not your typical overly-artificial scent. It legit smells like strawberries. And bonus: This isn't a lip balm that is supposed to be tinted but comes out clear. This lip balm is nicely pigmented- it comes off semi-sheer, a reddish-pinkish colour that I LOVE. Also: It's actually moisturizing! All three things I want in a lip balm are there. And so: I will most definitely be repurchasing.
I got this as a gift, so I can't comment on the price. However, I can say that I really liked this clear mascara. I use it on my brows sometimes, and occasionally over my regular mascara. The curved brush helps lift my lashes. However, this is a wet formula and takes a while to dry. It doesn't really change the rating, since if it smudges, it doesn't show- it's clear! I'm planning to repurchase when I use it all up.
Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers Quad - Urban Basics
glossipgirl7 7/10/2012 7:11:00 AM
First off, letme say that hese colours would be gorgeous. But they're not. Let me clarify. They LOOK gorgeous. But the thing is the pink and the gray have NO PIGMENTATION (unless applied wet) and the pink has CHUNKS OF GLITTER. Yeah, I'm a teenage girl, but I prefer satin or shimmer shadows, not frost or glitter. The colour I like best is the brown, as it is shimmery, more pigmented and I like the colour. The highlight is pretty, too, but I would prefer if it were less sparkly. Overall, a meh product. Would not repurchase, due to the glitter and poor pigmentation of half of the shadows.
Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Wear Infinite Quad - Earthscape
glossipgirl7 7/10/2012 7:07:00 AM
I bought this because I was drawn to the neutrals. However, they turned out to be poorly pigmented when applied dry, and when I packed it on a little, the shimmers started to build up and bother me. Don't get me wrong, I love this quad when I apply with a wet brush, but when worn dry, only the shimmers show up. Probably wouldn't repurchase.
I've tried three mascaras before, none of which I liked very much. Maybelline Great Lash was awful, Rimmel's Sexy Curves didn't do much for that long+thick look, and Illegal Lengths was great for, well, length but did nothing for volume. So I decided to try this mascara. I made the mistake of buying the WP version(when they say wp they mean WP WP WP. It's a pain to get it off) It gives clean, defined, and long lashes and a tiny bit of volume. There are absolutely no clumps, and there is never an excess of product on the brush. It makes a dramatic difference to my look, as my lashes look darker, and bolder overall. I would probably buy again, but I'm afraid to miss out on a better mascara. So I suppose I'll experiment for a bit, and if I don't find one I like better, I'll return to One by One. Note: I tend to lean toward dramatic-look mascaras, as my fine, on-the-shorter-side lashes need a dramatic look to come up to par with the performance of the average mascara on average lashes. Also, I love a good doll-eyed look.
This was the first mascara I've ever tried, being a teenage girl. A friend of mine recommended it to me a while back. But of course, the girl can't tell between a good mascara and a bad one. Heck, no one can tell if she's even wearing mascara or not, her lashes are so long and thick already. So of course she can't see any kind of effect. So I went and bought this and... 1. It weighed my thin, short, Asian lashes down. 2. No length whatsoever. 3. Absolutely no volume. 4. Smudged so I looked like a racoon. 5. Flaked like mad. Save your money! P.S. there are stereotypes of high schoolers using this as their HG mascara, but they're just basing it on the 1 in 20 girls that know nothing about makeup. We aren't 12 years old!
Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Black Raspberry Vanilla - Body Splash
glossipgirl7 5/1/2012 5:39:00 PM
I haven't purchased this scent yet, but I intend to. My friend and I were at the mall, and we went into bath and Body Works and smelled about every scent there. When I arrived at the Black Raspberry Vanilla scent, I fell in love with the sweet berry-like scent. Next time I go to the mall, this one is definitely a must.
Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips lip balm in Pink Punch
glossipgirl7 4/9/2012 8:46:00 AM
Overall, I love the Baby Lips line that Maybelline has. I love the packaging, and i love the texture of these balms. Pink Punch is a sort of cool, bright pink. You have to be careful not to apply too much or you will have NEON PINK lips. Not a good look. The color is a lttle too cool-toned for my warm skin tone. In future, I'll try Peach Kiss and Cherry Me. Due to the color not being right for my coloring, would not repurchase.
Sexy Curves is undoubtedly an excellent mascara, but I've decided to keep searching for my HG mascara. I tend to lean toward lengthening mascaras, since my eyelashes are on the long side for an Asian, yet they aren't the full, thick, long and lush fan of lashes I would like. I don't need any curling properties, I don't curl my eyelashes. Curlingness is just a bonus. Sexy Curves gives a fair bit of volume, and some curl. Not that much length, meaning that the search is still on. For those looking for a mascara tha will give a little volume and curl, try Sexy Curves. For gals like me, who care for length, keep searching! Note: Love the brush- it is so cool! Kind of like the fairydrops one...
