Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Advanced Home Actives - Brazilian Peel Facial Resurfacing System

This looked like it was supposed to give nice results but I didn't get very far with the peel. The syringe has a clear side and a white/thick side. I had trouble getting the white/thick part out of the syringe, maybe it was too dry. Even after trying to mix it together in the palm of my hand as per the instructions, it remained separated. I just couldn't get the white chunky part to mix with the clear. I felt a bit of warming in my palm but just washed it off as I didn't trust putting a peel that won't mix properly on my face. If you want a real peel, MUAC might be a better option.

Deodorants -LUSH - Aromaco Deodorant

I'm trying to do the whole natural deoderant thing and thought this might work. I tried the Aromacreme years ago and thought it had a decent smell and just used it for when I was around the house and it seemed to do the job. But, it's d/c'd so I decided to give this one a try. First off, you have to scrap a bit of the top layer off so that you can actually apply it. It's a waste of product since you have to waste so much scraping the top off, otherwise, you'd rip your underarms apart with the hard texture. In the store, it seemed to have a wearable fragrace to it. But, on application, it just had a pungent odor to it. It applied thick and felt like I was applying some rich body butter to my underarms. It was way too emollient and left chunks in the creases. But, despite the slimey feeling, I tried to give it a fair chance. As the day went on, the pungent odor only intensified and I just felt sweaty and disgusting with this thick residue on my underarms. I couldn't wait to shower this mess off. After all that, I developed a red, raw rash too! I had scabbing like the remnants of a chemical burn that last over a week. I didn't buy much of this but I returned it to report the rash and maybe they can try and reformulate it or something. I went back to using my Crystal Rock deoderant which leaves a clean/dry feeling and doesn't give off any offensive odors. I would recommend getting a sample of this to see if you can handle the texture/scent. Otherwise, just skip it altogether.

Lipstick -Bourjois - Docteur Glamour - Rose Retabli
rated 5 of 5
glossgal_01 7/27/2011 8:11:00 PM

I was really surprised at how much I like this lipstick! It's a really pretty peachy pink shade that smoothes on nicely. I have really dry lips and this just glides on without enhancing any of my dryness at all. Lasting power is about average, but with this smooth formula, I don't mind reapplying a couple times throughout the day. This is one of those lipsticks you can just toss on and go and know it's going to look good! The little tube is cute too, esp for a drugstore brand!

Crème -Maybelline - Dream Smooth Mousse
rated 1 of 5
glossgal_01 5/23/2011 3:17:00 AM

I saw the ads for this one and thought it might be decent since some of the mousse blushes are nice. Well, I was wrong! It took me forever to figure out which shade might work for me. They all seemed way too orange or pink-based for my NC30ish skintone. I ended up with Natural Beige since it was the most yellow-based. I tried applying this with a brush, a sponge, the applicator enclosed (dampened), and even with fingers and couldn't get it to look good. The texture seemed cakey and it didn't really cover much. After a few hours, I noticed my face was a bit itchy where I was trying on this foundation. I'm usually pretty good with most foundations, but this one left me irritated. I was hoping to find a cheap cream foundation but this was a huge fail.

Lip Gloss -Bourjois - Eau de gloss
rated 1 of 5
glossgal_01 7/6/2010 10:31:00 PM

I picked this up in Rose Vitamine which is a really pretty peachy pink shade. It was on clearance for like $3 so I thought I'd give it a try. It's supposed to be a really hydrating gloss. Since I have really dry lips, I thought this would be a winner for sure! Well, I was wrong! After I wore this, my lips completely flaked and peeled!! Also, I didn't feel any cooling/minty sensation on application as some of the other reviews suggest. The texture of this is thin and gritty and not hydrating or watery as it's supposed to be!! Other than the color and the brush applicator, this gloss doesn't have anything going for it!

Blush -Revlon - ColorStay Mineral Blush in Petal
rated 1 of 5
glossgal_01 5/10/2010 4:57:00 PM

This looked like it was going to be a pretty light rose/pink and since it was a mineral blush, I thought it was going to be a winner. Well, I was sooo wrong! I didn't even bother with the little brush that it comes with. But, I had to load this on with several swipes before some color showed up on me (NC27-30ish). By the time I got it on, it just looked like a muddy mess! Good thing CVS welcomes returns on used makeup because it went back so fast. I tried to find another color in the mineral line of blushes by Revlon, but the shades were either too brown or there was a berry one which wouldn't suit me. It's bad enough that it costs $13.99 for a d/s blush, and then it just looks disgusting on. I'd say just add a few bucks and at least get a MAC one that'll actually look good!

Eye Makeup Remover -Unlisted Brand - CVS Eye Make-up Remover (similar to Neutrogena)
rated 1 of 5
glossgal_01 5/10/2010 4:50:00 PM

They had this on sale and it's supposed to be similiar to the L'Oreal one as it says on the bottle. But, I didn't find this near as good! I've used the L'Oreal one years ago and found it to work just fine. When I finished off my Lancome BiFacil, I tried this one out. Well, this just seemed useless! I had to really rub just to get some of the extra shadow off and no matter what, it left some mascara/liner on. I tried this for a couple days and was ready to toss it out of frustration. It says it's gentle, but maybe TOO gentle as it just doesn't remove all of my eye makeup! I ended up returning it and just getting back to my trusted BiFacil.

I was really impressed with this one! This one goes on really smooth and the polish goes on perfectly. I find my nails are stronger and aren't breaking near as fast as they used to. I'd buy it again when I run out!

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Pink Champagne
rated 5 of 5
glossgal_01 1/27/2010 6:33:00 PM

I picked this up when it was 50%off and decided to give it a try! In the tube, it looks like it could be a bit of a brighter barbie pink than I'd like for everyday, but it seems to go on alot nicer! If I want it brighter, I apply it straight on my lips, but mostly I apply it over a layer of lipbalm for the perfect everyday light pink wash. It does have a bit of a coolish pink tone to it, so it might not work on everyone. But, if it's too pink, I just slip on a layer of Clinique Shhh buttershine to give it the perfect balance! It's definitely my fav Rimmel lipstick and a winner for my everyday go-to color!

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
rated 4 of 5
glossgal_01 12/26/2009 7:04:00 PM

I had to call several stores to find this one but had so much trouble picking a shade once I did find it. It's hard to pick a color as they have no testers. I'm an NC27ish and there's a big gap in between colors Nude 400 and Natural Beige 500. I ended mixing 1 pump of Nude with 1/2 pump of Natural Beige to get my shade. The bottle is nice since it IS a pump bottle and makes it easy to get the perfect amount. It's a medium coverage with a satin finish on me. I don't really detect any glitter or anything. I find it does the job for me, it's easy to apply with my fingers and blending with a damp sponge. I was pleasantly surprised that it looks this good for a drugstore foundation. I've always had trouble with them not covering, looking mask-like or oxidizing on me, not with this one. For a drugstore foundation, this is definitely a winner. It just be nice if there was a bit more of a shade range.

Cleansers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Fantasy Mint Wash
rated 1 of 5
glossgal_01 3/24/2009 3:46:00 PM

I was expecting to have fresh and smooth skin after using this, I was sooo wrong!! I literally did a double-take to make sure it wasn't face cream I was putting on skin instead of cleanser! It feels like you're putting on your face cream, it's thick with no lather and you just can't rinse it off. I was left with a thick, nasty residue on my face and smeared eye makeup. I then used my toner to cut through the residue. The residue my toner picked up was disgusting, it was full of makeup and everything!! My skin just felt so dirty! I usually like the squeaky-clean feeling after a cleanser and this isn't it! I've even used cream, wipe-off cleansers and can live with that feeling but this one just doesn't cut it.

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55
rated 5 of 5
glossgal_01 1/18/2009 12:37:00 AM

I've been using this one for 2yrs and really like it! I use this in the warmer months since it leaves me with a nice matte finish and keeps my makeup looking fresh all day. I detect NO greasy feeling at all! It's an easy-to-use standup tube so it squirts out really easy. I have really sensitive skin where I react to alot of regular sunscreens but this one is perfect! No breakouts, makeup looks good, great protection and runs about $15. I also love the minis I got from my derm since they fit in the makeup bag perfectly! Too bad they didn't sell the minis too! They're cute! Will definitly re-purchase this spring!

Conditioner -L'Oreal - VIVE PRO Nutri Gloss Med-Long hair DAMAGED
rated 5 of 5
glossgal_01 1/18/2009 12:31:00 AM

I really like this one! I have really curly, thick, dry hair. I use this on the daily basis to keep my curly hair soft and manageable. It's a nice standup container so it's easy to load up in the shower. It's smells nice and is cheap! I usually stock up when it's on sale and have gotten my last batch for $0.97. When I saw it on clearance, I took all they had! One containers lasts about 1-1.5wks for me. I have really long, thick hair so I use a handful each time. I've tried some other drugstore ones that leave my hair feeling dry/brittle afterwards, not this one!! Soft and easy to comb each time!!

Polishes -MAC - Twink Pink
rated 2 of 5
glossgal_01 1/18/2009 12:23:00 AM

This is a pretty light shimmery pink polish! The Mac bottles are cute and way better to use than their original ones! I love to wear this in one thin/sheer coat to give a hint of pretty pink shimmer. But, if you put 2 coats on, you get a pretty pink in a frosted version. I really like the color and that it's the perfect everyday shade for me but it literally lasts a day or so before it's all chipped and hideous!! I still keep it because I can't find a perfect match in another brand, I just wish it would last longer, it's a pain to keep redoing my nails every couple days! I also find it gets thick really fast so I'm always adding a drop of polish thinner. I'll use it up, but not in a hurry to buy another.

Concealers -Jane Iredale - Active Light Under Eye Concealer
rated 5 of 5
glossgal_01 1/18/2009 12:17:00 AM

These ones come in VERY light shades! I got the #3 and I'm an NC27ish in the winter. I find regular concealers seem too dry under the eye area and accentuate the fine lines, this one doesn't. If you're looking for coverage, this probably ISN'T for you!! It's a light coverage that's supposed to reflect the light away from the undereye area. It's similiar to the YSL Touche Eclat. It comes in a twist gold-toned pen with a soft brush that makes application easy. I also use this to lighten up areas around the corners of my nose, where it gets a bit pink in the winter. It lasts pretty good throughout the day and looks natural. It never feels dry either! I usually apply foundation everywhere, including under the eye and then go over with this for a bit more coverage and radiance. A little goes a long way, so it just seems to be lasting forever! Just remember that it's not made to cover blemishes or anything like that but great for the eye area!
