Misc Beauty Tools -Olay - Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System
glitzypink 10/20/2011 6:11:00 PM
This is the perfect addition to my cleansing routine. I love that you can use whatever cleanser you want and this basically amplifies the cleaning power. I've had mine for almost a year now and I use it in the shower all the time. I haven't even had to change the battery yet so that's awesome. The replacement brush heads aren't bad... $10 for 2, but they each last a few months so it's not expensive at all. Yours may even last longer if you don't use it as often. If you go by how curved the bristles get, that's a good indicator. Overall, amazing product, I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Clarasonic schmarasonic, go with Olay!

Toners -Formula 10.0.6 - So Totally Clean Everyday Cleanser
glitzypink 10/18/2011 3:24:00 PM
I absolutely love this toner. It's gentle enough to use everyday without the worry of over-drying, cleanses enough to leave your skin feeling fresh, and smells nice because there's no harsh alcohol smell. I know there's a stronger toner made by this brand that does contain alcohol, but this one feels great, I wouldn't switch. I wouldn't use it as a makeup remover (you'd use way too much) but it's the perfect final step after washing your face... or even to freshen up if you're not wearing makeup. Definitely recommend!

Masks -Formula 10.0.6 - Deep Down Detox
glitzypink 10/18/2011 3:16:00 PM
I really think this stuff works well. It makes my skin feel great as long as I don't leave it on too long. My skin is easily irritated so I had to be careful... I think that's the trick to be honest. 15 minutes seemed too long but 10 was just right. I also put a super thin layer on, not much at all. It dries out areas that look like they'll become a problem and I haven't had any bad breakouts since I've started using it. Nothing is a miracle for problem skin but this stuff really feels detoxifying. With more sensative skin I'd only recommend one use per week to avoid over-drying. Overall, great for the money and smells amazing, like a creamsicle! :)

Highlighters -Smashbox - Soft Lights - Smashing Tint
glitzypink 10/7/2011 6:16:00 PM
I got this for free on the Smashbox website during one of their "Tues/Thurs Let's Do Lunch" promos. (which is why for me, it was dirt cheap :P) Honestly I don't use any sort of "highlighter" on my cheeks, so when I got it, I decided to try it as a highlighter for my browbone. Now I use it every day to give a natural accent to my eye shadow without looking overpowering or too shiny. So, if you find it doesn't do the trick for your face, try your eyes! :)

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Light
glitzypink 10/7/2011 6:10:00 PM
When I went in search of a primer I wanted it to give a smooth canvas for foundation, not feel heavy, control oil, and last all day. This primer does it all. It is expensive, which is it's only downfall... but for what it does, it's worth it. I have tried other smashbox primers and they didn't control oil, although they definitely give a smooth finish. I also have tried Urban Decay's primer "de-slick" I think it's called, and I was not impressed. The Smashbox Photo Finish Light primer is a definite must have for me. I'm so happy I found it because I'm doing my own makeup for my wedding coming up and this definitely gives me more confidence knowing my makeup will look great and last all night!

Eyeliner -Cover Girl - Perfect Point Plus Eyeliners
glitzypink 10/7/2011 5:55:00 PM
I have this eyeliner in dark brown and I think it's very natural looking! It's easy and comfortable to apply (pencils can scratch and application isn't as smooth). It gives a strong enough line on it's own but is easy to smudge with the built in smudger. Overall, great buy!!

Concealers -Revlon - ColorStay Blemish Concealer with Soft Flex
glitzypink 10/7/2011 5:34:00 PM
Loooove this concealer! It covers well (most important!), stays on (yaaay colorstay!), comes in great colors (natural and good variations), and is very reasonable (although I would definitely pay more for it, I love it that much). I always used this concealer even before switching to the colorstay liquid foundation and the combination is amazing. I get bored easily with makeup and have attempted to stray from this concealer, but nothing else compares! I use it for blemishes/red spots and it does the trick every time. It's natural enough where even if I want to cover a spot and not wear foundation, it blends in perfectly. I will never buy another concealer again!

Concealers -Maybelline - Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer
glitzypink 10/7/2011 5:27:00 PM
I love mineral products and I was hoping to love this concealer... but unfortunately, it just didn't cut it. I only used it to cover blemishes and it didn't cover anything because it's too thin. Maybe it's better for under eye circles, but for blemishes, not at all. Also, I got the darkest color that Ulta carried, "creamy" according to the website, and it was wayyyy too light. I have a yellow undertone to my skin and it didn't work well with that either. Fortunately I got this cheap enough where I didn't feel the need to return it. In the garbage it goes!

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Foundation Brush
glitzypink 10/6/2011 9:01:00 PM
Boo. I have most of the Real Techniques brushes and love them all... except this one. The bristles were much more "plastic-y" than any of the others and did not feel nearly as nice. I went back the next day and returned this brush. The stippling brush is MUCH better and can be used for more makeup applications. However, if you really want a flat foundation brush, I'd suggest getting the Travel Essentials set which includes the essential foundation brush... plus 2 other amazing brushes. :)

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Stippling Brush
glitzypink 10/6/2011 8:52:00 PM
Best. Brush. Ever. When I first discovered Real Techniques, I was calling Ulta constantly to see if they had this brush in stock. I was thrilled when I finally got it. If you can only get one face brush (don't know why you would, maybe lack of space??) this would be the one! Foundation, blush, bronzer, powder, etc... it's a real "all-rounder" as Sam says about her multi-task brush. I personally use this brush to apply liquid foundation and couldn't be happier. It's one of those products that I hope they never stop making because I will want to use it forever! It's really reasonable, cleans beautifully, feels incredibly smooth, and it looks adorable. What more could you ask for?

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Blush Brush
glitzypink 10/6/2011 8:44:00 PM
I love all of the Real Techniques brushes and this one is no exception! It has a unique shape which helps with accurate application but is fluffy so it blends perfectly. Easy to clean/maintain like all of the other brushes and you can't beat the price. Combine it with another one of the brushes or sets at Ulta and use a coupon? Even better! Oh and it's pink, what more could you ask for?

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Brush Collection - Eyes Starter Set
glitzypink 10/6/2011 8:35:00 PM
I bought these brushes because I'm going to be doing my own makeup for my wedding. I wanted brushes that were reasonable, multi-tasking, easy to clean/maintain, and cute looking (just a perk!). I have to say I got everything I wanted and more with these brushes! The easiest way is to address each separately: Deluxe crease brush: This brush might be big for some people's crease, but the beauty of this entire collection is that you can switch/swap and be creative! This brush does a great job blending all over the lid, in the crease, and highlighting under the brow bone. Base shadow brush: I think I use this brush the most. From all over the lid, the crease, or the outer "v", this brush does it all! It's angled cut gives precision but is fluffy enough to blend any eyeshadow. Accent brush: This brush is good for applying shadow to the upper/lower lashline and putting a highlight color in the inner corner. I also use it for smudging glitter eyeliner. Pixel point eyeliner brush: I don't have any gel eyeliner, but I use this brush for smudging my regular eyeliner. I find it works better than the built-in smudger. Brow brush: I've used this brush for applying shadow to the upper/lower lashline, I don't put any "brow" makeup on, but I like to use it (clean) just to neaten up my brows and comb through them. Overall, I'm so pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend them if you don't want to spend a ton on a versatile set of brushes!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
glitzypink 10/6/2011 8:07:00 PM
I really love this foundation. I switched from the Colorstay mineral foundation because they changed the formula. So this is coming from someone who likes a natural look in her makeup! I use the combination/oily formula and I find it's long lasting, controls oil, and gives a great finish. I'll organize my review by addressing most people's concerns with the foundation. 1. Removal- I personally use a Noxzema cleanser followed by a gentle toner and that seems to work just fine. I also don't put a ton of it on, so that may help as well... you certainly don't need a lot. 2. Packaging- I don't think the packaging is a good a reason not to like this product. It's what's on the inside that counts right? :) Plenty of drugstore foundations come in a bottle and if it really bothers you, I'd recommend getting an airless pump bottle off ebay. I got 2 for less than $8 and it's working great. I didn't mind pouring it out of the bottle, I'm just afraid of spilling it and wasting it! :P 3. Application- I use a stippling brush made by Real Techniques. Not only is it reasonable, but it is easy to clean which is really helpful with this foundation! I also dampen the brush before putting it in the foundation (just by wetting the top of my hand and tapping the brush in it). This gives an even application and gives you more time to work with it. Hopefully this is helpful! :)

Pressed Powders -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Blends Translucent Oil-Control powder
glitzypink 10/6/2011 7:47:00 PM
I absolutely love this powder! It's goes on smoothly, looks natural, controls oil, and best of all it really is translucent. I've tried other products that say they're translucent but end up going on much too light. With this powder I can do all of my makeup, including bronzer, put this over it and it still doesn't change the color of what I've put on. I also have the bronzer in this formula and love that as well. They last for-ever, so although this may be more expensive than other drugstore powders, you definitely get your money's worth. Ulta occasionally has Neutrogena 40% off, so if you want a reasonable way to try it, that's probably you're best bet. Overall, I wouldd definitely recommend this if you're looking for a natural looking finishing touch!
