Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous in Carbon Black

Love this mascara! This is one of my favourite mascaras, but I like using this underneath the Cover Girl Lash Blast - together they give me AMAZING lashes. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is that it is kind of hard to work with at first because it is SO WET. It settles after about a week of use but the first week it is pretty hard to get a ton of volume because if you layer it on when it's that wet, it gets clumpy super fast. You have to work with this mascara to get good results but it's definitely doable once you get the hang of it! Love the super black intensity and the long brush. My only complaint with the packaging is that I always get too much product out at the tip and the opening does nothing to stop that. You also need to work with this pretty slowly to get volume without spidery lashes or clumping so if you like a lot of volume but don't like spending too much time on your mascara, this might not be it for you.

Polishes -Revlon - Whimsical

I LOVE this polish! I have the two other glitter nail polishes by Revlon (Scandalous and Popular/Starry Pink), but this colour never really appealed to me in pictures and swatches I had seen so I never bothered to try it. The other day I just happened to be at the drugstore and saw Revlon polishes were on sale and no other shades really caught my eye and I grabbed this on a whim. I'm so impressed! It's such a pretty pale blue and the glitter is so subtle but so noticeable (in a good way) at the same time.. which really just means it doesn't look tacky. Overall rating is a 4 though, because it does take at least 4 coats to get full opacity and I actually ended up adding a 5th the next day because I wanted it even more opaque. However, it dries relatively fast, and with a good fast drying top coat, shouldn't be a problem. Love this!

I wish this had worked for me.. I was SO excited to finally try this once it came out in Canada. And I paid like $20 which is pretty pricey for a DS foundation! I've used this for about a week now.. even after my skin repeatedly warned me that I should take it off.. like right away. This feels TERRIBLE on my skin. As soon as I put it on, I literally cannot wait to wash my face and get it off because it irritates my skin SO bad and makes it super itchy. But even after experiencing this, I still was in denial and wanted to keep wearing it because I thought my skin would adjust. The third time I wore this, I got a few small bumps on my chin (which is the driest part of my face) and around the sides of my mouth. They were so tiny though that I convinced myself I just needed to moisturize better and then it would work fine. But nope, this dries me out so bad. My skin feels irritated, itchy, and after a few hours starts to look flaky. After trying it for a final time today, it finally noticeably broke me out and even after taking it off, my skin still feels so irritated and I keep wanting to scratch. Lesson learned... I wanted to like this so bad :( The colour was perfect, it made my skin look absolutely flawless, it lasts so well.. like it would've been THE HG if my skin didn't hate it so much. I love love the way this looks, but hate how it feels on my skin and what it did. I am actually so sad.. both that I wasted money on this and that my skin reacted so badly to it. Be careful if you have sensitive or dry skin.

I just purchased this on a whim two weeks ago. And I have to say, so far, I'm in LOVE with this foundation. I've never tried creme foundations before, but this one is great. I've gotten compliments on my skin whenever I've had this on - it looks and feels so natural and lightweight. I have slightly dry, light-medium skin with yellow undertones and I purchased this in 240 Natural Beige. It is ever so slightly darker but the next lightest shade would be far too light. It's perfect for summer. I really can't say enough good things about this so far. The colour matches pretty well (even though shade selection is limited), the coverage is light-to-medium and definitely buildable. It is very affordable, and available everywhere. The finish is PERFECT - it's smooth, slightly dewy, and definitely not matte. This is also very forgiving if I forget to moisturize and doesn't emphasize dry patches or flakes. It just feels so great on my skin, and it honestly doesn't even look like I'm wearing any foundation. This foundation also seems to have a "blurring" effect; so even if the coverage isn't that heavy, it almost seems to blur away any imperfections. I originally applied this with a kabuki brush and I liked the application. However, it wasn't until I tried application with a wet sponge (not the one that comes in the package - that's a joke) that I fell in love. It looks flawless with sponge application and goes on perfectly! The lasting power could be better, but it seems to hold up okay even in hot/humid weather, particularly when set with a powder. Overall: PROS: -Good coverage -Dewy, flawless finish -Easy to apply -Natural looking and feels lightweight -Matches my skin well and doesn't oxidize -Inexpensive -Doesn't emphasize dryness or cause dryness CONS; -Limited shade selection -Not a huge fan of the packaging -Low staying power I definitely recommend this, especially if you have dry skin. This is currently my everyday foundation, and I love it!

LOVE THIS NAIL POLISH! I was reluctant to see what it would look like against my medium skin tone, but it is literally the perfect grey, especially for fall. Great finish, lasts for about a week without chipping if you use a top coat, and comes at a great price. The colour also comes out exactly like the bottle shows, and I only did one coat! Love this!!

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup

This is one foundation I have been wanting to try for AGES. There's so much controversy around this around that every time I came close to getting this, I'd change my mind. It really is a hit or miss.. People either seem to really like it or they hate it. I definitely don't love this foundation. I wouldn't say I absolutely hate it either but I'm not really happy that I purchased it.. I could have lived without ever trying it. I have slightly dry, light-medium skin with yellow undertones. Let me just start off by saying that I really, really don't think this was a good foundation for my dry skin. No matter how much I moisturized before applying this, this foundation CLINGS to dry patches and emphasizes flakes like no tomorrow. At one point, I was convinced that it was in fact creating the flakes (HAHA). But once I got the flakiness under control, I realized I still just don't particularly like this foundation. The only thing I actually LIKE about this foundation is the colour selection. I have yellow undertones, and I purchased this in 004 Nude. Initially, I thought it may be too light for my face as it looks fairly white before you blend. However, it is probably the most yellow drugstore foundation I've found. That's literally the only thing I like about this - the colour matches me PERFECTLY. The coverage is very, very sheer to me - and I don't even have breakouts (just very slight pigmentation marks here and there). I've applied this with a stippling brush, foundation brush, fingers, kabuki brush, AND a sponge but I still cannot get good coverage. Even if I build this on, I find it just gets cakey and overly glittery without adding any more coverage. Needless to say, you will be needing concealer with this even to cover to tiny, tiny blemishes. I'm not sure what the point of this foundation even is.. it literally doesn't cover anything. It is also SUPER glittery and shimmery. Normally, I like dewy and glowy finishes - I'm really not a fan of matte faces. But somehow, this foundation manages to be glittery without actually being dewy or glowy or even.. nice. I can't even describe the finish; I want to say it's matte glittery (haha). I also think this is quite pricey for a drugstore foundation. The only upside is that it DID photograph well. In person? Well, that's another story. I'm not sure how this would work on women with oily skin, but even though it's supposed to be "dewy" it wasn't good for my dry skin. I do still use this to layer on top of my other foundations because, like I said, the colour is great and yellow and it does have good lasting power (doesn't get oily in the least). I've used this over top of the Revlon Colorstay, and the L'Oreal True Match to make them more yellow. Overall, PROS: -Good shade selection (with yellow undertones) -Good lasting power (doesn't get oily or transfer) -Doesn't oxidize -Photographs well CONS: -Too much glitter -Sheer coverage (that I personally find not to be buildable) -I don't like the semi-matte, shimmery finish -Too pricey for a DS foundation -Emphasizes dry patches/flakes I wouldn't exactly recommend this if your skin sounds like its similar to mine. Definitely not worth the price and won't be repurchasing!

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17

This has been my HG, everyday foundation on and off for years now. I've switched and tried other products over the years, but I keep coming back to this because it just looks and feels absolutely great on my skin. It isn't without its issues, but for the most part they're manageable and I really think it's a great drugstore foundation for the price. I have slightly dry, light-medium skin with super yellow undertones. I wear this in W3 generally. I've tried W4 but it tends to make me look much tanner than I am (which I don't mind during the summer). It does match pretty well, although it's still a little pink and I have to be careful with application otherwise it looks too pink! I like applying this with a kabuki brush or my fingers. Sponge application looks great too but uses up way too much product! A little goes a long way - too much can give off a "make-upy" look but with the right amount and application, this is so natural and lightweight on my skin no one can ever tell I'm wearing foundation. I do find I have to use a concealer with this; my skin doesn't break out generally but it scars/pigments easily when it does and I don't find this foundation covers it even when I build this on. The other thing I dislike is that is REALLY emphasizes dry patches and flakes so moisturizing is super important.. But too heavy of a moisturizer makes this oily within a couple of hours - it really is a fine line. The lasting power isn't wonderful either; it looks great for about 4 hours generally (without setting powder), and can look better for even longer if the weather is good and you're not moving around too much (haha). But I LOVE LOVE the finish of this foundation. Even my much more expensive foundations don't have the finish of this - it's the perfect mix between dewy and glowy.. If you prefer matte finishes (which I don't), this might not be for you. I absolutely LOVE the finish; it just does something for my skin that no others foundations do and makes it super glowy - one of the main reasons I keep coming back to this! Note that some people do find this too shimmery/glittery but personally I don't notice it much, even in the sunlight - it just looks glowy to me. So overall: PROS: -Natural, lightweight -Not cakey/oily -Dewy/glowy finish -Good, buildable coverage -Inexpensive -Doesn't break me out -Doesn't oxidize -Wide range of shades CONS: -Emphasizes dry patches/flakes -Low staying power (gets slightly oily after a couple of hours, and rubs off easily) -Not enough yellow Overall, this is still one of my favourite foundations. I've tried many other ones, and always eventually come back to this. If you have oily skin, this may not be the best for you as I can see it getting oily after a few hours. Otherwise, I'd recommend you give it a try. I will definitely repurchase (as I have been for years now)!
