Blush -NARS - Luster
glamourxx 2/2/2008 12:48:00 AM
My new HG blush! I used to love Torrid, but Luster stole its spot! Luster is like a bronzed apricot blush and shows up well on my golden olive toned skin (NC30/NC35). Orgasm didn't show up that great on me and I'd have to apply a thick layer to even see a hint of color. Torrid, I only had to lightly apply it for it to show up, which gave me a rosy glow. Before, I would pair up Nars' Laguna bronzer with Torrid to give the effect of Luster. Now, I can save money and just buy Luster. :) LOVE IT!!

Foundations -Estee Lauder - Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup for Face and Body SPF 15
glamourxx 12/11/2007 5:43:00 AM
(fyi: i am referring to maximum cover camouflage makeup for face and body. it's listed as a foundation for estee lauder.) i can't believe this product hasn't received many reviews and i don't know why i haven't rated it any sooner...it has been my HG concealer since i was 15 years old (i'm 21 now)! whenever i get a zit, whether big or barely noticeable, it always results as a brown hyperpigmented scar. this product conceals EVERYTHING flawlessly. just make sure u don't overapply or it'll look cakey; a little goes a long way! my best friend would always borrow it to cover up hickey marks, which worked like a charm (haha tacky..high school). it's waterproof, so it's longwearing, and is also non-fragranced/non-comedogenic. it has never made me breakout. i use medium beige in bare minerals makeup, so for this product i usually use medium deep. if it's winter time, i probably can use creamy tan. it cost about $30 for a tube, but it lasts SOO long. i never finish the tubes and just end up throwing them away because of how long i've had them (can last me for years, but it would be all gross). here is a list from the estee lauder website of what it conceals: skin imperfections, including surgical and acne scars, birthmarks, sun spots and varicose veins.

Crème -Clinique - City Base Foundation
glamourxx 12/5/2007 3:39:00 AM
i use bare minerals normally, but needed something quick and easy to use if i was on the run (which is most of the time!). when i first bought the city base foundation and tried it on in the store, i liked it. when i started using it at home and saw it in different lighting, i thought that the color was too dark/orangey. i kept it anyway because i didn't think the product was that bad and was good enough for touch ups......i should've thrown it away! now after using it for about a month, i broke out! i have all these little bumps on the lower half of my face near my chin. this product causes clogged pores, so stay away if you're acne-prone or if you have sensitive skin! edit (2/1/08): the breakout worsened and i had to start using prescriptions to help clear me up! my face is fine now, but this foundation was the worst ever. i completely returned the item for a full refund.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - BareMinerals foundation #2.3 Medium Beige
glamourxx 11/10/2006 1:49:00 AM
i love this product!!!! i'm NC30 to NC35 in MAC studio fix. bare minerals doesn't feel caked on at all and i love how natural it looks. some people have mentioned that it looks too metallic and shiny, but it's really not. natural skin has some sheen to it, which is exactly what bare minerals does. other products i've used, like MAC studio fix, are WAY too matte and powdery so when i finally found this product i was ecstatic with the results. i have some acne scars (hyperpigmentation) and bare minerals does not completely cover it, but it does its job and i still look good lol. :)
NOTE: if you're hesitant to buy this product because of all the negative remarks, just go out to sephora and test it out. if you're still unsure whether or not to buy it, go ahead and just buy it! you'll never know until you try it out. make sure it's from sephora though because they allow returns if you're dissatisfied (keep receipt & original packaging).
UPDATE: so it's about a year later and i still love it! i've made it my HG foundation. my mom is very particular about how makeup looks, but she has even told me that bare minerals looks awesome and is the best foundation i've ever used. my skin is really sensitive and i tend to break out easily with new products, but this one doesn't irritate my skin at all..even if i'm out all night and i can't wash my face. i originally purchased the starter kit and with all the products (smaller sizes, but have lasted me longer than a year) plus the regular full-sized brushes. definitely worth the deal.

Blush -NARS - Torrid
glamourxx 11/10/2006 1:43:00 AM
i wrote a review on torrid almost 3 years ago on here, so i just wanted to update: I STILL LOVE IT!!!! (i had to delete my original post to repost an update on it). i originally purchased orgasm, but it was too light and didn't show up well on me. i'm an NC30 in MAC studio fix. i had to apply orgasm a few times until i achieved the color i wanted. i exchanged orgasm for TORRID. torrid is perfect for my skin tone- just one application (or two) does the trick and gives me a rosy glow. i usually layer torrid with NARS laguna bronzer (bronzer first, then blush) to give it more of a sunkissed look. one blush case lasted me about a year and a half! the packaging quality is durable, but i just hate how dirty it gets in my make-up bag because all the powders stick to it. torrid is the best for tan girls!!!!

Moisturizers -Estee Lauder - Hydra Complete Multi-Level Moisture Creme(Dry Skin)
glamourxx 3/18/2004 1:49:00 AM
i got this as a sample with a purchase, as well as my mom. im going to use my moms sample as soon as mine is finished to make sure i really do like it. so far i havent had any breakouts or clogged pores. it gives my skin a dewy effect which i love, it makes it soft, and has improved its appearance. i love the scent too! it seems kind of pricey for 1.7..but its worth splurging on.

Moisturizers -DDF - Ultra Rich Moisturizing Cream
glamourxx 3/14/2004 4:24:00 AM
ive had this product for about 3 days now, and its shown improvement on my skin since the first day. i use this as a night cream all over my face since it has no SPF, and during the day i apply it to my dry spots underneath my normal moisturizer. i had dry skin around my nose and mouth due to the weather changes, and the first night i used this it disappeared. it made my skin soo soft, and so far it hasnt made me break out. the directions say that it should be applied to damp skin, so those who were complaining it doesnt set in well were probably applying it to dry skin? i noticed tho that if u apply too much of this product that it wont ever absorb and u can peel/roll off some of the moisturizer. a little bit of this rich cream goes a long way, so dont pump out too much. UPDATE: i returned this product because i spoke too soon! i started to get little red bumps..definitely pore clogging. the only good thing though is that this product made my dry skin around my nose go away!

Foundations -Prescriptives - Custom Blend [DISCONTINUED]
glamourxx 3/12/2004 9:15:00 PM
i love my prescriptives custom blend! my skin tone is really hard to match because im olive. a lot of stock foundations look too orange, too dark, or too chalky on me, but this foundation was blended exactly like my skin tone. although, it took 5 tries to get it perfect, it was well worth the wait. the custom blend specialist said if the color wasnt right when i go home and see it in a different light, that id be able to take it back and she would alter the color at no charge. it was blended like virtual skin, which is a light to medium coverage. my skin is imperfect, i scar easily and i have a couple of scars from picking. the foundation evened out my complexion, but alone didnt cover my scars completely. with a little concealer it made me look flawless. in a way i wish it was full coverage so i dont have to put concealer on scarred spots, but i dont need full coverage all over my face. i also dont want to sacrifice how it looks like im not wearing any foundation with the light to med coverage. it wasnt cakey at all (unlike MAC face products), which is a big plus for me, and it gave a very pretty dewy look. i thought it was expensive though for foundation, being that it was $62 without tax, but it was worth it. i would definitely buy this again. start saving up girls !!!

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
glamourxx 3/12/2004 1:28:00 AM
i was debating between Orgasm and Torrid. i bought orgasm, thinking that itd be the perfect color since its winter and im pretty light right now using an NC25 (im filipino and normally a GGG). the lady also said she thought that orgasm would be perfect for my skin tone rather than torrid. orgasm showed up...after i applied it so many times over and over to achieve the color i liked. i didnt even have orgasm for a week, and i exchanged it for torrid.
