Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 eyeliner in Rockstar
gingerbeer 1/6/2013 3:12:00 AM
I have mixed feelings for this eyeliner. I received a set from Sephora and Rockstar is the colour I use the most because it best brings out my brown eyes and doesn't have sparkle/glitter. I wanted something that went on really smooth and was easy to layer with other colours but this seems to almost melt on contact. I have noticed when using lighter colours of the same product it actually paints my eyelashes if I'm not careful. I have sensitive eyelids and this does not seem to bother them at all. And the pigmentation is very high. I don't think I'll buy again but will try to use this one until it's gone.

Skincare - Face -Jurlique - Sun Lotion SPF 30+
gingerbeer 1/6/2013 2:56:00 AM
Yes this is pricey, yes it's hydrating, sometimes giving a little too much shine. But this is the first standalone SPF 30 sunscreen that does not break me out. It does feel a little 'sticky' after first application but I wear it under a little powder and don't notice it after application. The glass bottle is classic packaging, but not the most ideal for traveling.

Treatments -Jurlique - Blemish Cream
gingerbeer 1/6/2013 2:46:00 AM
I decided to buy this after reading reviews here on MUA and after using several Jurlique products. It definitely works well for my mild cystic acne, doing as others have said - reducing redness, quickly reducing the size of the blemish and helping keep a generally clear complexion. I don't mind the colour, it doesn't really provide any coverup for me but I prefer it over a white cream for some reason. The fragrance is predominantly tea tree oil but works better (for me at least) than just plain tea tree oil on its own. I do find that it is not always enough in combatting or completely banishing blemishes during particularly trying times (high stress, high hormones) so I will occasionally supplement with an OTC benzoyl peroxide cream. Either way, I'll keep using it because the results are quite good.

Cleansers -Jurlique - Balancing Foaming Cleanser
gingerbeer 1/6/2013 2:28:00 AM
I have been using this for the past 8 months, in conjunction with a few other Jurlique products, and find it to be a very good cleanser. I like to manually exfoliate 3-5 times/week and this cleanser is gentle enough to use without drying my face. If using an exfoliating tool, a little of this goes a long way. It's also hydrating enough to use in the morning. However the packing is not good - my bottle sucks the cleanser into the pump lid and it leaks out down the outside of the bottle, which is costly considering the price of this stuff! Every third time I use it I have to wipe some from the outside. The efficacy of the product, of course is not affected but it's pretty annoying.

Treatments -Jurlique - Skin Balancing Face Oil
gingerbeer 1/6/2013 2:19:00 AM
I switched to predominantly Jurlique facial products about 8 months ago including this oil, which I use at night and mainly in the cooler months. I don't use it directly on my nose or chin (I tend to be very oily in those areas) unless they are visibly dry. It smells very nice and in the morning my skin is hydrated and glowing. I've even convinced my husband to use it and he probably goes through more than me! I use this oil, the balancing face wash and blemish cream, and together they've really evened out my skin tone, reduced redness and help me reduce the amount of foundation and concealer I wear.

Liquid -L'Oreal - Lumi Magique Foundation
gingerbeer 1/6/2013 1:52:00 AM
This is the first 'luminous' liquid foundation I have used and will continue to use, particularly in the winter and under eye. It produces a glowy and dewy finish with medium coverage, works well on red areas (but not very red areas), gives medium coverage on freckles and produces a generally even skin tone appearance. The staying power outside of my t-zone is very good but like others have said if you have oily skin it does not stay put or help minimise the sheen esp. in the warmer months.

Shampoo -Aveda - Shampure
gingerbeer 10/11/2009 3:22:00 AM
I love this shampoo. I've been using it on and off for 8 years. I pair it with Shampure conditioner and it makes my hair shiny, healthy and soft. Plus the scent is like having an aromatherapy session during your shower. The only drawback is that it is quite expensive where I live so I try to stock up when in the States.

Treatments (Eye) -BeneFit Cosmetics - Ooh la lift!
gingerbeer 10/11/2009 3:07:00 AM
Not a fan. I have a number of Benefit products and this one I don't use because it doesn't offer anything. If I have any bags/dark circles I use a de-puffer and concealer and steer clear of this. Although I did not purchase it with the intent of literally lifting my eyes, I think the name is misleading. Although this may brighten eye areas for others, it does not sit well on my olive skin.

Liquid -Prescriptives - Flawless Skin Total Protection Makeup SPF 15
gingerbeer 10/2/2009 5:23:00 AM
I wasn't totally convinced when I bought this but I wanted a new foundation with SPF and that gave me a 'flawless' look. After using it for nearly 2 years I can confidently say this is a quality product. It covers redness around my nose and a few spider veins on my cheek, evens out my skin tone but is not heavy enough to cover my darker freckles (which is fine by me). It also works quite well on my 'normal' dark circles but isn't enough with heavy dark circles. I always apply this with a foundation brush, it just looks much better than when I use my fingers. It never feels heavy and I agree that a little goes a long way. To be fair there are some cons - it does get into the creases around my nose during periods when my skin is dry (winter) but I haven't found a foundation that doesn't do this. And if I use much during really humid days it doesn't hold up well, but again I have always found this problematic with liquid foundations. But overall I think this is a great product.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Long Last Glosswear SPF 15
gingerbeer 10/2/2009 5:00:00 AM
I initially really liked this gloss but after using it for a week I found that it dried my lips out. I also found that I needed to reapply at least 2-3 times during an evening out. On the plus side, it's nice to have a gloss with SPF.

Lip Treatments -Too Faced - Lip Injection Extreme
gingerbeer 10/2/2009 4:57:00 AM
I really like this as a lip gloss. It initially tingles, has a great scent, and emphasizes the lips with shine and some natural pinkness. I find the 'effect' (if it can be called that) lasts 30 mins or so, and subsequent consecutive applications during the same day/night do not produce the tingling (irritation). The gloss stays put maybe 1 hr so it must be reapplied frequently. One drawback is when I put the lid back on there's always some gloss that spits out around the seal and needs to be wiped away.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
gingerbeer 10/2/2009 4:52:00 AM
I've been using this mascara on and off for the better part of a year. It's not too clumpy, makes my lashes stand out but in a relatively natural way, and stays put all day. It's a decent every day mascara.

Blush -Clinique - Blushwear Cream Stick Shy Blush
gingerbeer 10/2/2009 4:30:00 AM
I have been using this blush for 6 weeks and am convinced that it is a good product. It's easy to apply and has a glowy look to it vs. powder blush and other cream blushes I've tried. My only complaint is that I have become more tan over the duration of using this and now the shade blends into my skin colour, so next time I will try a more berry shade.

Treatments -Aubrey Organics - rosa mosqueta rose hip seed oil
gingerbeer 4/28/2009 10:19:00 AM
I've been using organic rose hip oil from Kosmea (don't think they sell Aubrey where I live) for 4 weeks and I am really impressed by the results. My aim was to decrease the appearance of wrinkles around my eyes and I think that there is a small but noticeable change there however I am noticing a great improvement in the overall appearance of my skin. This oil has evened out my skin tone and decreased the appearance of my freckles and redness around my nose.. My skin seems to glow and just look very healthy and fresh. I use the oil at night and also during the day around my eyes before my moisturizer. I was a bit cautious about using oil on my skin for fear of break outs but I have not had any problems and am really impressed.
