Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Liquid Mousse

I've been using this foundation for almost a year now and I have to say it is one of the better foundations I've used, including high-end. I love that it has a pump because I really only need a tiny amount. I pump a small amount onto the back of my hand and add a little bit of Revlon's Bare Light Spa Illuminator to it, mix, and apply to my cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin. I love the finish of this combination, but will use the foundation alone if I want heavier coverage. My skin is oily with dry patches, so I do have to blot during the day, but I don't mind. I am acne prone, but this hasn't caused any major breakouts. I just started using retin-a so my skin is really peely right now, and I like that this foundation doesn't over emphasize the dry areas. I just bought my second bottle of this and will continue to repurchase until I find something better.

Treatments -Obagi - obagi skincare system
rated 3 of 5
gina66 1/22/2010 7:33:00 PM

I just started this system a week ago, so I can't comment on end results. The first few days were the worst as far as redness and irriation go. I started off looking kinda sunburnt, then I had about 3 to 4 days of allover redness with raised bumps, and then back to looking sunburnt. This time my skin was really dry. I do have some peeling but nothing major yet. I use my own cleanser, I don't use the toner, and instead of retin-a, I use differin (which I have been using for years now). I am using the Exfoderm Forte instead of the regular one. It stings when I apply it, but it's not unbearable. My face feels tight and itchy, but that is to be expected. I use a thick moisturizer on my eyes to keep these products from affecting the delicate skin there. I am noticing that my skin looks smoother. This may just be from the tight, dry skin on the surface, but we'll see. I'll edit at the end of week 2. Ok, week 2 is over. This week my skin peeled a lot, especially the lower half of my face. It was definitely noticable, and moreso with makeup on, but I still had to go work and suck it up. At least most of the redness is gone now. My face is now smooth and pink, like a mild sunburn. Because of this, though, I tend to look orange with makeup on. But I can deal with this for the time being. My skin doesn't feel tight and itchy anymore, either. I am liking the results so far. Week 3: This week I started breaking out, but the pimples were small and would disappear from one day to the next. My skin still looks red at times, making me look ruddy. I had some dryness, but nothing like the peeling I had last week. I'm going to hang in there and hope my these breakouts go away soon. Aside from these pimples, my skin feels really smooth.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Waterproof
rated 5 of 5
gina66 8/10/2009 11:10:00 PM

I used, and really liked the non-wp version for a while, but I have to say I like this one better. It holds a curl well and really stays put. I'm not a fan of the brush, and I have to take my time applying so that I don't smudge it all over. I use this mascara daily and it doesn't smudge or flake. I especially like that it's a drugstore mascara and not so expensive as other brands that have disappointed me. For now, this is my HG.

Cleansers -St. Ives - Olive Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
gina66 7/27/2009 11:04:00 PM

I bought this cleanser hoping it might replace my more expensive daily cleanser. It did a good job cleaning my skin, but it dried me out so badly that I had visible flakes even with the use of a thick moisturizer and exfoliation. I was surprised by this since I have very oily skin but I kept using this anyway. I went through almost half the bottle before finally giving up on this cleanser. As soon as I stopped using it, my skin got so much better. I guess I'll use the rest of this cleanser to clean my makeup brushes.

Bronzers -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Bronzer Sun Glow
rated 4 of 5
gina66 2/27/2009 3:38:00 PM

First of all, I don't use this as a bronzer, but instead I apply it with my fingers onto my eyelids and cheeks. I love that it makes me look pretty with such little effort by giving me a little bit of color. I curl my lashes, put on some mascara, tinted lip balm and I'm set. It blends really well and a little really does go a long way. It's not overly sparkly, but gives just a pretty glow. For reference, I'm NC20 with dark brown hair and eyes. I have acne-prone skin and this didn't make me break out either. I'm not crazy about the packaging, but I would repurchase this. That may be a while, though, since it seems like it will last me a long time even with daily use.

Hair Color -Clairol - Natural Instincts in 35 Ebony Mocha (Brown/Black)
rated 4 of 5
gina66 11/13/2008 9:22:00 PM

I bought this haircolor because I wanted to make my dark brown hair just a little darker and richer. The result is just what I wanted, but I only left the mixture on my hair for about 8 minutes since I didn't want my hair to get too dark. The best part about this brand is the way my hair looks and feels afterward - so shiny and soft. I took off 1 lippe because I got an identical color result with Nutmeg when I used it in the past. But then again I did leave Nutmeg on for the full 10 minutes. Either way, I would repurchase since I'm always very happy with the end result and I just love the way it makes my hair look so healthy.

Lipstick -Urban Decay - Sellout
rated 3 of 5
gina66 10/21/2008 8:48:00 PM

This lipstick is described as a warm neutral/full coverage cream, but on me it goes on sheer. That's OK though, since I prefer sheer. It is not all that warm either, at least not on me, but that's OK too. I love the texture of this line of sheer lippies, but this has that bitter taste like the others. Although Pistol is the most bitter of the ones I have. I won't repurchase because of the taste, and I don't like the packaging either.

Lipstick -Urban Decay - Rush
rated 3 of 5
gina66 10/21/2008 8:41:00 PM

This is a sheer pink that is more cool on me than neutral. Rush is a very pretty shade on me, whereas most pinks are not. I love sheer lipsticks but once again, this one has a bitter taste to it. I don't know what it is about this line of lippies, but all the ones I've bought have this taste. I wouldn't repurchase any of them for just that one reason. It's a shame, too, because they are really pretty.

Lipstick -Urban Decay - Wanted
rated 3 of 5
gina66 10/21/2008 8:33:00 PM

This lipstick is described as a warm berry color, but it shows up cool on me, just like Pistol which is also described as warm. Weird. Anyway,Wanted is a very pretty sheer berry with no shimmer. Unfortunately, it has a bitter taste just like the other UD lippies I've bought. Too bad, otherwise I'd repurchase. I can live with the bad packaging, but I hate that bitter taste.

Lipstick -Urban Decay - Indecent
rated 3 of 5
gina66 10/21/2008 8:24:00 PM

This lipstick is described as a pale peach/sheer shimmer and that is a pretty accurate description. I really like this on its own but I also use it over other lipsticks to give them a glossy and shimmery finish. This one does have a bit of a bitter taste, althought it isn't as bad as Pistol. I find myself reaching for this lippie more that the other UD lippies I bought (Pistol,Rush,Wanted, and Sellout). This doesn't last long on my lips, but I expect this of most sheer lipsticks. I would repurchase if UD got rid of the bitter taste and changed the packaging. That little dagger on the end drives me nuts.

Lipstick -Urban Decay - Pistol
rated 3 of 5
gina66 10/21/2008 6:29:00 PM

I really like this lipstick as far as the color and formula go. It shows up as a cool neutral on me, even though it's described as warm. And I like that it is sheer and has some shimmer. I had to take off 2 lippies however, 1 for the bitter taste and 1 for the packaging. This lipstick tastes so bad, and I hate the little dagger thing on the end. Maybe I would repurchase if it weren't for these 2 issues.

Powder -Laura Geller - Balance-n-Brighten
rated 5 of 5
gina66 12/22/2007 9:34:00 PM

I got this as part of the Baked Basics set. I wasn't all that impressed when I got it home, so I didn't use it right away. I then had a mild peel done and I decided to use this 3 days post-peel. I wasn't looking for coverage, but just something to tone down the blotchiness. This worked great, but what really sold me was that it didn't accentuate my dry, flaky patches at all. My best friend said she couldn't even tell my skin was peeling unless she got really close. I'm not sure if I'll repurchase since it is expensive, but so far, I've gotten my money's worth.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 4 of 5
gina66 11/4/2007 9:21:00 PM

I gotta admit that I really like this mascara! My lashes are so puny and straight that I have to use a curler before applying other mascaras and even then, you could barely notice my lashes. Even with a primer, it was the same old sad lashes. Well, not anymore! I still use a primer (the Shiseido one) but this mascara really makes my lashes stand out. I don't get the falsies effect like other gals, ( I think you have to have good lashes to start with for that result) but at least my lashes are visible. They look longer than I've ever seen them, and for that, I am sooooo happy! Plus, this mascara hasn't smudged on me yet whereas every other mascara I've used did. I get no flakes and very little clumping, but it's nothing that a lash comb can't fix. I do have a little trouble with the brush, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I'll repurchase this because it keeps me from having to shell out $$$ for Diorshow, which is what I was using before.

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
gina66 10/15/2007 6:53:00 PM

I just have to agree with others that this smells soooooo good. That really is the main reason I bought this. I was pleasantly surprised that it left my hair really soft and shiny. I can't wait to try the others in this line, now. I do rotate shampoos a lot, but I'm sure I'll repurchase this one.

Loose Powders -NARS - Loose Powder
rated 5 of 5
gina66 9/6/2007 1:00:00 AM

I just bought this after having run out of LM translucent powder. After reading the reviews, I thought I'd give it a try. So far, so good. I'm an NC20 and I got this in Eden. It seems to be a good color match. It hasn't turned orange on me like most powders do, and it really looks natural. There's no "powder" look to my skin like I'm used to, and it doesn't accentuate my dry patches, which is great! It just makes me look like I have good skin. I do have to blot after a few hours, but my skin is very oily and I usually have to blot anyway. And once I do blot, my skin looks good again. I have to agree with others about the awful packaging. I just cleaned out my old LM container and transferred this powder to it. I'll definitely repurchase.
