Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar - for all skin types
rated 3 of 5

This product is a light, whipped moisturizing cream. It's very light & absorbs into my skin without feeling greasy. My skin feels soft & hydrated. The cons are: I don't like that it's in a jar, kind of unsanitary to dip my fingers in there. It doesn't moisturize enough for winter, even for my combination skin. The price is high. For the winter I switched to the Avon Anew Regenerating Day Cream, & will use hope in a jar for summer.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)

This is my HG cleanser. It's a soothing cleanser & removes all my makeup, even mascara/eyeliner, and does not leave me with raccoon eyes. I love the smell, the silky texture, and the light feel of the cleanser. It leaves my skin soft & clean, doesn't overdry my combination skin. My only gripe is that it is kind of expensive, but you don't need much, so hopefully the small bottle I have will last awhile. I love this stuff and hopefully it will continue to work as it has been.

Treatments -Patricia Wexler MD Dermatology - MMPi Skin Regenerating Serum

I started using this product after I had my son. My skin was great throughout pregnancy, but normally I'm prone to breakouts. I got a sample size of this product in a BBW gift bag and thought I'd try it out. Within days, my skin looked the best it has ever looked. Plus, it was great as a primer under my makeup. You only need a tiny bit or it will be greasy. It is ridiculously expensive, so I just bought a 1 oz jar on ebay for 21.75 w/ shipping! I don't like the large, clunky plastic container. Spend less on packaging & give me more product for the price!

Self Tanners -Unlisted Brand - Malibu - Hemp Golden Glow Bronzing Moisturizer

I really liked this product. The smell was yummy, like coconut. However I put it on about 3 days before I was going to Vegas and when I got to Vegas I broke out in hives ALL OVER MY ARMS & LEGS....huge clusters of hives. There is something in there that is bad for sensitive skin. I've used Jergens & Dove Golden Glow & NEVER had that happen. So beware!

Skincare - Face -MD Forte - Facial Lotion I
rated 5 of 5
gimmieshoes 1/4/2008 8:24:00 AM

After only 2 days of using this once a day, I've already seen a dramatic diminshing in the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, and overall improvement & smoothness in my skin. I have tried EVERYTHING for my face and this has been amazing. It's expensive, but online you can look for discount codes & I saved almost $5 on a regular bottle. I have been using this lotion with the Murad Clarifying Cleasner, because I am still waiting for my MDForte Cleanser to arrive in the mail. :) I will update in a week or two with further results. If it keeps up with the great results, this will definitely be my HG skincare line! My only beef is the bottle is pretty small for the price, but you don't need very much of it. It stings a tiny bit when you put it on, but it goes away and in the morning my skin is soft and smooth.

I liked this product at first. It left my skin feeling very clean, but after about two weeks of using it, I had really bumpy skin from it. I switched to Murad Clarifying cleanser and the bumps cleared up.

Top/Base Coats -Rimmel - Faster - 60 Seconds Top Coat

I really love this TC. I only bought it because the store was out of the JetDry TC. It dried fast and the shine was incredible! I put it on 1 hour before I went to bed and didn't have any problems w/ sheet marks, denting, etc. This is taking the place of my original TC & for less money!

Polishes -Revlon - Nail Enamel
rated 5 of 5
gimmieshoes 12/31/2007 1:36:00 PM

I love Revlon nail polishes. I though OPI was the way to go and yes, they have more colors than Revlon, but for less money you can get an almost identical product. Revlon didn't chip at all when I washed dishes, did laundry, or whatever...... Definitely HG.

Primer/ Corrector -MAC - Matte
rated 5 of 5
gimmieshoes 12/31/2007 1:34:00 PM

This is definitely an HG product for me! My make-up artist used this on me for my wedding and my make-up stayed all day long & I didn't have to retouch once! I finally bought some of this & I apply it w/ a foundation brush. Just a teeny drop goes a long way. It smooths out my uneven skin tone and makes my not so great skin, look wonderful. At 17.50, it's not the cheapest, but it will last a long time for how little of it you use per application. It's important to let it dry on your face before applying foundation/concealor because it can pill up. I will buy this product over & over.

Pressed Powders -Clinique - Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder
rated 4 of 5
gimmieshoes 12/31/2007 1:29:00 PM

I really like this product although I've only been using it for 3 days. I had been using Bobby Brown powder, but I think my shade match was off. Stay Matte powder gives good coverage alone or with foundation ( I am using the Clinique Clarifying Foundation). It can look chalky if you use too much, so I only do a light sweeping w/ a large powder brush. It does control my oiliness and sets my makeup well. It's been 5 hours and I haven't had to blot yet!! :) The color is good for me in the winter, but I will have to get a little bit darker shade for summer. I think this may be my HG powder.

Scrubs -Biore - Pore Perfect Pore Unclogging Scrub
rated 1 of 5
gimmieshoes 12/31/2007 1:25:00 PM

I really liked this scrub at first, but after a week or two of using it occassionally (twice a week) I started breaking out in little tiny blackhead & bumps all over my face. I had the bumpiest face EVER and I quit using it immediately. I'm finally almost cleared up from that and it's been 4 months!

Moisturizers -Biore - Oil Free - Shine Control Moisturizer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 1 of 5
gimmieshoes 12/31/2007 1:22:00 PM

This did not control shine and made me oilier then when I didn't use it. I still have almost a whole bottle left! It absorbed nicely into the skin, but holy crap! After a few hours I looked like I rubbed a stick of butter on my face. Crap in a bottle is what this is.

Treatments -Biore - Pore Cleansing Strips - Nose
rated 1 of 5
gimmieshoes 12/31/2007 1:20:00 PM

Waste of money. The thing didn't even stick on my nose & didn't pull off any blackheads & I KNOW I have some on my nose. It just left me w/ sticky goop on my nose & I left it dry A LONG time. I will not buy again.

Shampoo -Kenra - Moisturizing shampoo
rated 3 of 5
gimmieshoes 12/31/2007 1:19:00 PM

I really like Kenra products, but I didn't really notice any moisturizing properties in this shampoo. The price is kind of high for such a small bottle, but the scent is nice & you only need a dime-sized amount for shoulder length hair, so it lasts along time. It lathers up ALOT (almost too much), but rinses clean. I always come back to Kenra products & they are my fave out of all higher priced brands.

Styling Products -Kenra - platinum silkening gloss
rated 3 of 5
gimmieshoes 12/31/2007 1:16:00 PM

This product works really well in managing the frizzies. I blow dry my hair ALOT and it sometimes gets dry. On particularly bad hair days, I use the PSG Before I dry my hair and it works wonders in keeping the frizzies at bay. My only gripe is that it's pretty expensive ($17) for a small bottle. The bottle is tall, but "skinny" so I'm sure there isn't much in there. I use only a tiny bit of this per application because if you put too much in, your hair looks greasy. The smell is nice & for me it's definitely a splurge.
