Moisturizers -Zia - Nourishing cream
rated 5 of 5
gigatea 5/1/2010 3:35:00 AM

i have tried many many many facial moisturizers because my skin is dry most of the time. some are too oily or not enough moisture. *sigh* i got a .25 oz sample size in the dry skin kit to try because it was $36.95! for a 1 oz container. well, i loved it so much that i really really tried to make that .25 oz last longer. it did, for a bit. if you have oily skin, don't even try this. this creme moisturizes so well for me that a little dab is all i need. i can feel my face drinking it in. it doesn't make my face oily looking and i like that. it makes your skin look soft and supple. zia products are so expensive that i usually search somewhere else first. no matter how much i love this creme, i could not pop out $37 for it. i'm quite cheap that way. the closest moisturizer to this for me is c for carrots c you in the morning cream. however, this is still my first choice and when i do find a good price on it, i stock up! definitely HG!

Moisturizers -Zia - Daily Moisture Screen SPF 15
rated 1 of 5
gigatea 5/1/2010 3:27:00 AM

i received this in a swap and was really excited to try it. i love other zia products and couldn't wait to try this since it contains spf. unfortunately, it didn't work for me. i wanted to like it so badly because it would solve my moisturizer and sunscreen issue for daily to work and home use. it wasn't moisturizing enough for my normal to dry skin face. i love the nourishing creme though! that one works!

Cleansers -Zia - Moisturizing Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
gigatea 5/1/2010 3:23:00 AM

i'm not sure why some user are getting burns from this? i'm on my 2nd bottle and this is my HG cleanser. i like a lot of zia products and they seem to work well for me, for the most part. i would stray once in a while to something else but always always come back to this plain little cleanser. it doesn't sting my skin (even though i have gotten burn multiple times from other products), and doesn't dry me out. the scent is barely there if at all and i just really really adore this thing and how it's really nice to my skin. :D i can't use cleansers that are too strong or drying and i hate buying different things all the time to try. i should probably just stop looking.

Moisturizers -Zia - Citrus Night Time Reversal
rated 5 of 5
gigatea 5/1/2010 3:16:00 AM

i love love zia products! if they were more affordable, all my skincare products would be zia. i have dry, sensitive, and sometimes combination skin. i use this a few nights a week, sometimes consecutive nights and no irritation! in fact, i can use just this alone without any moisturizer before day. i love the nice, soft, and refreshed look i get each morning. it's very subtle but i can see it. the little jars do last a very long time and just a little dab is all you need. it does not make my face oily and will appear a bit white (if you use too much) but once it sinks in, it's clear. of all the "green" products i tried, it would have to be the most expensive! LOL i will keep using this as long as i can. i'm on my last little container so i'll need to buy more. this is probably my 4th one already.

Moisturizers -Alba Botanica - Jasmine and Vitamin E Moisture Cream
rated 5 of 5
gigatea 3/24/2008 10:38:00 AM

it's been 4 days and i've been trying out this product every morning and night. i simply LOVE this cream!!! i have dry, sometimes sensitive skin and some moisturizers don't hydrate my skin well or leaves it feeling even dryer. i went to elliott's and tested a bit of this cream and love the texture of it. i was also very surprised by how nice it went on, not sticky at all. i also took home a sample and hours later still love the way my lower face felt (where i'd tested the cream). after using the samples 2 more times, i was pretty much sold. so i went and bought the full size and it's just wonderful for my face. moisturizes very well, and i have no problem with the smell whatsoever. unlike others, i don't think it's strong at all. i've tried and like other alba products too, such as the papaya enzyme mask (wonderful!). i don't know why i didn't test this one earlier. would've save me the other trials and errors. it's about $16.09 for a 3 oz jar so definitely worth it in my opinion. a little goes a long way and again, this spreads evenly and soaks in right away. i use it as a daytime moisturizer and night cream. totally a rebuy!

Cleansers -Sukí - Suki Naturals - Moisture Rich Cleansing Lotion
rated 3 of 5
gigatea 1/16/2008 10:54:00 AM

first, i have dry sometimes sensitive skin. i've been using the zia moisturizing cleanser and have no problems. i really like it as it is gentle. i have tried suki's lemongrass cleanser and just plain love it! my HG exfoliator. therefore i want to try their other products. as i was running out of the zia's, i went to elliotts to pick up another but they didn't have it. i did saw all the suki products on the shelf, so i squeezed out a sample of the cleanser to see what the smell is like and really like the smell. so i bought it. when i got back, i almost return this cleanser without trying because of the reviews about how it leaves a film behind and that lemon oil causes pigmentation. i finally decided to try it and see for myself and return it later if it doesn't work out. i thought i'd actually read that lemon oil (or lemon juice?) lightens spots but since it's more than half way down the ingredients list and it washes off anyway, i didn't have to worry about it. and if it does lighten my small pigmentation, even better. it's been almost a week and i love this thing, even more so than the zia's! it smells wonderful, very gentle yet my skin is feeling so clean. i didn't experience any film on my skin after rinsing off. the cream is also not sticky. i use about 3 small pumps, massage it onto my face for 30 seconds to 1 minute and rinsed it off. it does a fantastic job of cleaning and again it is gentle. it's non-foaming so i like that too and goes on like a cream. i am so glad i gave it a try and will repurchase again after i run out. it comes in 5.7 oz so plenty there to last a while. i love a lot of products from suki and zia and cannot wait to try more of their stuff. at this point, i have found my HG brands and they definitely make my face look much smoother, healthier and i love it. every winter i am usually trying to find something moisturizing enough to not make my skin itchy and dry. this winter, i have no such problems. thank you!!! EDIT 3/24/08: using this every night and day dries my skin out. therefore i'm taking it off my routine list. i still love the smell but i can't use it. it's probably a bit too harsh for me. i'm back to using zia's moisturizing cleanser and it doesn't dry my skin out at all with daily morning and night uses.

Pressed Powders -Ecco Bella - Fair
rated 5 of 5
gigatea 9/28/2007 12:10:00 AM

i received this in a swap and it immediately replaced my other pressed powder. i use pressed powder because they are light and easy to applied. i love love love the packaging of this powder! it's great, cute, and stylish. lol like the previous previewer, it does tend to crumble. i do not use the sponge that comes with it. i use ulta's blush brush and instead of swiping the powder, i just pressed my brush to it and voila applied. this way no powder are crumbling off and i can get more powder on the brush if i pressed harder. i am asian and i got fair i believe. it's got yellow undertones and goes on great! not heavy, light feel and light coverage. plus it's natural and does not irritate my skin. i can see the bottom of the pan already so i'm going to have to order another one soon.

Treatments -Burt's Bees - Baby Bee Diaper Ointment
rated 5 of 5
gigatea 8/1/2007 8:26:00 PM

love love love love love this diaper ointment! i had my baby girl in sept 06 and i was buying creams like desitin and i hate their consistency and how hard it was to get it off. i didnot like the smell either. then i read somewhere about burt's bees' diaper ointment and had to try it. if anything, the ingredients in the other ointments was enough to make me stay away. i got this in the sample package first and right away, i love the smell! it light, refreshing, and very pleasant! that was just the icing. i love the way this ointment work. if my baby have a rash coming, i use it once and can see the improvement it made in the next diaper change. in this case, my baby never had rash for more than a day or so. again i love the smell too! i went and bought 2 full size to have at home and i recommend this to everyone i know. it works wonder that the other drugstore creams never come close. plus i feel much better knowing i'm not putting so much chemical ingredients on my baby's skin. if you are having a baby, definitely try this product first. you'll love it! EDIT: just read that some of the ladies use it as a face cream! i cannot wait to test it as a face cream! thanks! :D

Moisturizers -Burt's Bees - Marshmallow Vanishing Creme
rated 2 of 5
gigatea 8/1/2007 8:20:00 PM

i didn't mind the smell. i was excited to try the product since i got it with the deep bark cleansing and lettuce toner. my skin is normal to dry/dehydrated. this moisturizer was too light and did nothing my face. my skin felt dryer with this on actually. not much of burt's bees are working for me and i want to love their products.

rated 1 of 5
gigatea 8/1/2007 8:17:00 PM

i like the way it felt when i was applying it to my face. 5 days later, my skin felt like leather...it was so dry and starting to hurt. this may be better for people with oily skin. it's in my swap list now.

Lips -Burt's Bees - Lip Shimmer- Papaya
rated 2 of 5
gigatea 8/1/2007 3:18:00 PM

picked this up at target because i know burt's bees made natural products. i love the color - unfortunately there is no staying power and it is drying. victoria's secret beauty rush lip glosses stayed on my lips longer and it moisturizes more. i will not buy it again.

Sunscreen -Alba Botanica - Organic Lavender SPF30
rated 5 of 5
gigatea 8/1/2007 3:14:00 PM

this sunscreen and other sunscreens by alba botanica (kids) are the only one i use for my family. we have 3 around the house and i carried one in my purse. the lavender smell is lovely, not too strong but pleasant. high spf and goes on wonderfully well. it's creamy like a cream and goes on white and becomes invisible so none of us look like zombies. i picked this up at bel air when it was on sale and i am happy i did because this is my HG sunscreen for the family. it does sting my eye sometimes but for what it does, i'm okay with it. the only ss that have not sting my eyes is mychelle's. i would definitely buy this again. love it!

Highlighters -L'Oreal - HIP Illuminating Highlighter - Shimmer 894
rated 5 of 5
gigatea 4/27/2007 1:57:00 PM

i really like this duo! and i was pleasantly surprised by how well they work on my skin tone. this is more of a cream and glides on smoothly and perfectly. i use both shades for a layering effect on my cheeks and use the darker color on my eyes. love the shimmers. also gives me a bronze-like look. very very nice. the only bad thing was how the package opens up. i don't know why it's made that way. i don't even use the mirror at the bottom. too inconvenient. otherwise, love everything about this hi-lighter.

Lip Gloss -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Lip Gloss - Cherry Bomb
rated 5 of 5
gigatea 4/27/2007 1:50:00 PM

i love this lip gloss more than i thought i would! at first, i wasn't too impressed with it and i'm not sure why. i thought i would preferred the BBW bigalow gloss to this but i'm using this one EVERYDAY now and i love it. i'm asian and i'm tired of wearing too many nude shades. i also do not want to go full-blown pink or red or something to that effect. that's the reason i only use lipglosses. i picked up the cherry bomb and i love the sheer shimmery pinkish-red color. brightens my face some. plus the smell is absolutely yummy and not sticky at all. i would definitely purchase again. like some said, the applicator tip is not always effecting but i could deal with that. i gave it a 5 because i've never like a lipgloss this much - and i've tried and use neutrogena's, bigalows, burt's bees, bare essentuals, and lauress.
