Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
ghost 6/10/2008 7:08:00 AM
Orgasm blush... well its definitely one of the most flattering blushes around... its fairly universal if you are light to even medium-dark, but it goes ashy on black girls so DDD girls stick with Crazed, or even better Taj Mahal... I love that on black girls! Anyway, back to the orgasm (feels good right?) originally released a bazillion years ago when I actually worked at a NARS counter, this caused quite the sensation, mainly I think because of the name. Other companies have tried to duplicate the color but no one seems to get it quite right. This particular blush has not been upgraded in formula since its inception. I think NARS is afraid to change it, lest customers freak out. I do feel however that it could use a texture upgrade to become even prettier, but lets see if NARS cares what I think. All in all i highly recommend this blush, it has been a staple in my kit for years and will probably continue to be even if they dont change the texture.

Lipstick -NARS - Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita

I much prefer the original... for whatever reason I dont think that this color is particularly flattering in a matte... But then again, I really only like neutral pinks and beiges and or really bright or dark colors in matte textures....

Eye Shadow -NARS - Galapagos single

Probably the most beautiful brown I have ever seen. Perfect deep dark brown, slightly golden undertones but still very neutral. Its the darkest brown shadow Ive ever found. I love this shadow! Its iridescent gold pearls are reflective and pretty on the eye without being "glittery". Like all shadows that have these pearls you have to be careful to not break it, as they are more fragile than other shadows by virtue of the pearls in them.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Portobello Duo

this product is pretty much the reincarnation of the old Madrague duo from NARS, but just in better textures (NARS switched manufacturers of most of their powder products a couple years ago... notice the difference in feeling from Sertao blush which is made in the new factory, and something like Orgasm which they maintain in the old one.... ) Anyway, these are neutral, easy to wear, but dreadfully boring shades that are just fine if you work that way, or if you wear serious red lips. I cant imagine many MUA girls thinking this is all that exciting.

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque

this was sent to me when I lived in Canada and did not have access to of by a lovely makeupalley user as a RAOK. I used it a few times and liked it but lately I have been using it once or twice a week and my skin has never ever looked better. If the results keep up for another month the red marks left behind from old spots will be gone and my skin will be movie star perfect!!! I hope it goes that way!

Blush -NARS - Color Wash [DISCONTINUED]

Not wild about these liquid stains, they are near impossible to blend (unless you use them over a multiple stick and then they dont set as nicely into the skin and dont give you the look you really wanted which was sheer matte glowing blush...)

Eye Shadow -NARS - Kalahari Duo

Excellent alternative to AAE for girls with darker skintones who it refuses to show up on. Its not the same as AAE but it gives a beautiful almost natural look for anyone over NC30. The colors arent that far off from each other, but they blend nicely and are quite shimmery. This is a great everyday go to shadow duo.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Underworld Duo

This Duo is highly pigmented silver and steely navy blue. Its great for smoky looks and the colors blend well together or can be used totally separately. I like to use a black liner near the lashline for depth and smudge, then I apply the navy shade near the lashes and blend upwards, I put the silver in the crease to fade out. I like to use Bombshell wet on the inner corner of the eye to perk it up a bit. The shadows are both good quality (unlike some of the other NARS shades)

Foundations -MAC - Studio Mist Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
ghost 10/3/2006 1:43:00 PM
Studiomist foundation is not meant to be sprayed directly on the face, you are to spray it on your hand and apply with a brush... The press release states that it is contained in an aerosol can so that the pigments are dispursed evently and the products volatile chemicals (IE silicone) dont evaporate. I think this is just a marketing strategy and Im fairly certain that they could have made this foundatin and put it in a normal bottle but decided that a spray foundation would get more interest and probably more press. That being said this is only availalble in a limited shade range, and is fairly sheer, but no so sheer that everyone would match one of the shades, which is unfortunate for anyone outside of those 5 tones. It leaves a slightly luminous finish, and glides on easily. I gave it 3 stars though, because I really dont think its anything special.

Lipstick -NARS - Hindu
ghost 9/13/2006 5:02:00 PM
When I saw this in the tube I thought it was gorgeous, but on application I found that it was sheer and actually had sort of a sheer black cast to the color... its still nice on, but just not how it appears and for that I was disappointed. It looks like it will be a rick sparkling burgundy-red, but ends up being what the NARS website describes as "Sheer Fig". Im not sure what color a fig actually is if it were a sheer lipstick, but if its like this, its not my favorite color.

Lip Liners -NARS - Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bettina

Great beiged-pink shade, perfect for pale-medium toned girls, would look ashy on dark skin. Gives a nice matte nude pink look to lips and stays on forever.

Clear gloss with tiny yellow gold and clear white pearls in it, very pretty alone or over any lipstick (especially reds). I really like this shade.

Not my favorite shades, but if you love green and reddy purple then this might be fun for you. The green shade is very close to MAC sprout (but it actually goes on, unlike the crappy MAC color). The red shade is the discontinued NARS shade "Moulin Rouge"

Highlighters -NARS - Highlighting Blush Powder in Albatross
ghost 9/13/2006 4:51:00 PM
this highlighting blush is the same color as Vanilla pigment from MAC, and looks pretty much the same on the skin. If you do not own Vanilla pigment and love the idea of a pressed version, then this is for you! I think it would probably look ashy on dark-very dark skintones though.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Lip Lacquer in Chelsea Girls

Great color but super pale, you gotta know how to wear it. Looks great over lipsticks like Honolulu Honey and Belle Du Jour. Goes great with Morrocco, Hush, Rosebud and Funny Face (yes) liners too. Again. Hate the smell of these.
