Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara
rated 5 of 5
ghoo 11/11/2010 9:32:00 PM

I have straight Asian lashes and this holds a curl, is super black, lengthens and volumizes as well as my Diorshow. It also lasted through a major tear session, leaving my lashes only slightly uncurled (whereas the best I've tried leaves them completely straight), and all product intact- no flaking or smearing off whatsoever. On me, it builds volume and lengthens extremely well. I don't have tons of lashes so it does not make me look like I have a full set of voluminous false lashes, but it DOES mimic a set of medium-volume and medium-length lashes, if that makes sense. And that is good enough for me for a daily look and it's better than any other mascara I've tried. Like another reviewer commented, this is my first drugstore mascara repurchase, in probably over 10 years for me. I am really impressed.

Other -Crest - Pro Health Clinical Gum Protection
rated 1 of 5

Although I have no complaints about the consistency or taste of this toothpaste, every time after I use it the inside of my mouth and lips peels and I end up with a gummy film that I have to wipe away. It's actually pretty disgusting and I have no idea why that is. On another note, I have also not seen any drastic improvements in the health of my teeth, gums and mouth, any more so than other toothpastes I've tried.

Gels/Soaps -Nivea - Touch of Happiness Body Wash
rated 3 of 5
ghoo 9/21/2010 5:20:00 PM

This is a decent average drugstore body wash. It does smell nice but I don't find that it delivers too much moisture, and also there are tons and tons of suds. It does not interest me in repurchasing because it's so middle of the road, but it does the job fine as a shower wash.

Conditioner -Alterna - Caviar Age Protectant Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
ghoo 9/21/2010 5:15:00 PM

I absolutely love this conditioner. I have long colored hair, normal-oily roots, dryish ends, and a mixture of fine and medium hair that tends to get weighed down very easily. Along with the shampoo, they make my hair soft, shiny, weightless, supremely manageable and super healthy looking. I just can't stop touching my hair, it's so soft and bouncy. I do find it to be on the more expensive side but just using it once or twice a week makes a such a world of difference to how my hair behaves throughout the week.

This product is expensive, yes, but it makes my hair like silk. I never knew my hair could feel this luxurious and soft and yet voluminous and weightless at the same time. It's truly amazing. It's a real treat, along with the conditioner, and I plan on using once or twice a week as it is a very nourishing protein treatment for the hair.

Conditioner -Matrix - Biolage - Conditioning Balm
rated 5 of 5
ghoo 9/21/2010 4:55:00 PM

I really like this conditioner. I typically have oily roots and wavy hair that tends to lose its volume by midday, but this was a very pleasant surprise. Even though it's a balm it is a fantastic conditioner, leaves my ends really glossy and soft, and the rest of my hair still hydrated and weightless, which is amazing when I typically have to use 2 conditioners- a heavier one to treat the ends and a light detangler for the rest of my hair. I'm really happy with this and will continue to repurchase.

Shampoo -Rene Furterer - Okara Shampoo for Color-Treated Hair
rated 5 of 5
ghoo 9/21/2010 4:51:00 PM

I really loved this shampoo- I've tried a lot of high end and salon ones- Phyto, Leonor Greyl, Bumble & Bumble, Terax, Fekkai, Oscar Blandi, Neil George, etc- and was so impressed with this that I bought it. I have long hair with normal-oily roots, fine to medium thick hair, dyed, dryish ends. This made my hair so soft, shiny, weightless, and with a ton of volume- almost like I used a great clarifier but so much softer and healthier feeling. I first tried a sample and received these results. Thinking it might have been too good to be true, I luckily had a 2nd sample and used that- with the same results. I went out and bought a tube the next day!

Moisturizers -Skin Biology - Exfol Cream
rated 5 of 5
ghoo 8/15/2010 7:56:00 PM

This is a great product. It's super lightweight and dries to kind of a cream-gel finish. I am notoriously sensitive face creams and serums, pretty much everything breaks me out, but this has not at all. It has 2% salicylic which helps with blackheads particularly. It's the right amount of moisture for combo skin. Personally though, I prefer Skin Biology's lac sal cream more just because it has the added lactic acid which I find better at sloughing off the top layers of dead cells, and it also includes salicylic which fights within the pores. It's a great 2 pronged approach but if you can't tolerate all the acid, the Exfol is the same great cream base and an effective product as well.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Vivite Exfoliating Facial Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
ghoo 7/30/2010 5:29:00 PM

This is a very effective glycolic acid based facial cleanser with small scrub particles. The particles are not as round and cushy as those from say Peter Thomas Roth, but with the glycolic acid they do an amazing job of getting rid of dead skin and giving your face a really effective double dose of both chemical and manual exfoliation. So effective in fact, that I only use this about once a week, or you will be over-sensitized which for me reflects in small clogged pores. But with a judicious hand, this is a great product! One of the best exfoliators I have ever come across and makes all of the products I use work that much better.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Vivite Daily Antioxidant Facial Serum
rated 5 of 5
ghoo 7/30/2010 5:25:00 PM

I had been a devotee of Skinceuticals vit C products but decided to give this a whirl since I've heard so much about the brand and it contains green tea which I've heard has more antioxidant power than C. I was concerned that it could be too harsh over time, break me out, ball up under makeup or sunscreen, etc but I have experienced nothing but clear smooth skin the entire time. It's like a slippery gel but doesn't dry shiny or gummy and spreads extremely well. I will be trying the Vibrance therapy next and seeing how it layers with this product.

Skincare - Face -Skin Biology - BioHeal
rated 5 of 5
ghoo 7/30/2010 10:37:00 AM

I have purchased this for my mother who had cracked, peeling and just about bleeding dry heels, my cousin who tore her shin on a rock and had to get stitches and was left with a giant bumpy scar, and my friend who has severe eczema on his elbows that ends up dry and grey almost to the point of no return. Bioheal is absolutely amazing and has done wonders on all three of these areas and made strides beyond any other product, and in such a short time frame. I'm not saying that it restores your skin to a normal state in 48 hours, but you will see it working by then and in about a week with diligent use you will never be without it! PS- yes it smells, but to me it's medicine.

Moisturizers -Skin Biology - Lacsal cream
rated 5 of 5
ghoo 7/30/2010 10:29:00 AM

I was hesitant to try this because I've tried the LacSal serum before which didn't agree with my skin. Thankfully, they are two completely different products in that respect- this one is awesome. I have combo oily very acne-prone skin, and am terrified of trying new products because so many things break me out. This cream has been a godsend from day one. It is super lightweight and basically dries down to a gel matte finish- slightly hydrates your drier areas and doesn't disturb oily areas- it's basically as light as a gel or serum. It has made my skin clear, smooth, pores clean, and overall complexion brighter and cleaner overall. Because of how thin it is I can also layer it under the lightest sunscreen and makeup with no problems whatsoever. The price can't be beat.

Styling Products -Aveda - Control Force
rated 5 of 5
ghoo 7/30/2010 10:21:00 AM

I am in love with this new hair spray from Aveda. It is their new firm hold hairspray that supposedly gives 24 hr humidity defense, no flaking and UV defense. I have used for about a week now. It holds my waves in place that usually straighten out by midday, if I spray it a good 5-6 inches away it doesn't feel crunchy or stiff but still has amazing all day hold, and I love the nozzle which sprays out a super fine but voluminous puff in strong powerful gusts. 2-3 pumps and I'm done and good all day.

Gels/Soaps -Eucerin - Eucerin Shower Oil
rated 4 of 5
ghoo 7/30/2010 9:59:00 AM

Eucerin products are one of the best over the counter, in my opinion- all of their products do exactly what they promise. This one is no different- as an oil, it makes your skin very soft, smooth and nourished, it's gentle, calming, and great for itchy winter skin or sensitive skin (better than Aveeno I feel). But being formulated for sensitive/sensitized skin it is also fragrance free- I respect that but I am put off by the natural scent of the oils- smells a little like omega 3/fish oil supplements which is just plain weird in the shower. Also because my back is prone to breaking out, I have found that this exacerbated it during summer months, so I have to be careful about that.

Cleansers -Shu Uemura - White Recovery EX+ Brightening Cleansing Oil
rated 4 of 5
ghoo 7/30/2010 9:47:00 AM

I love this cleanser, I have combo oily acne prone skin and was using the Fresh version for quite some time, but wanted to try the brightening properties of this version and was initially worried it might be too oily for my skin. Thankfully, it is just as wonderful, makes my skin just slightly more supple than the Fresh version but not in any way oilier. Hasn't broken me out either. I took off 1 lippie because I can't really attest to any major brightening effects but I will continue to use anyway and hope that it's staving off dullness.
