Hair -Moroccanoil - Moroccan Oil

I really like this stuff so far. I've only bought it a few days ago, but have used it every time after I wash my hair. I have fine hair and the ends are fairly damaged because I used to get highlights all the time, and this product does NOT weigh my hair down. I mainly apply it to the ends and a tiny bit everywhere else. I was even able to curl my hair after using it without any other product and I can actually say my hair never looked better! After I blow dry my hair, it feels insanely silky and smooth. It is amazing!! The only thing I don't like is the packaging because you have to pour it on your hand. It's also very expensive and smells weird. But this is one of very few hair treatments that I've used that actually give instant results.

Self Tanners -Clinique - Self Sun Body Tinted Lotion Light - Medium
rated 4 of 5
genny1 4/19/2010 10:30:00 PM

Okay, I just bought this, but so far I think it's pretty good. I bought this b/c I read the reviews and most of them were good, and also b/c the self tanner that I was using before (Aveda Sun Source) has recently been discontinued. I like how it's tinted, so you know where it's going/how it's applying, I love the subtle shimmer, and it's kind of a gel-ish texture more than a lotion texture, which is fine too. I don't like the initial smell, right after you rub it in...it has that clinique-y smell, but it goes away very quickly, and then you get a very subtle smell of self-tanner, but that's expected. If you don't like the smell self tanners leave, then I suggest don't use them...I don't believe there is any self tanning product that will not have that smell at all. This one, however, has the most subtle out of all the ones I've tried. Clarins has the strongest, Aveda was pretty strong too, but Clinique's is as subtle as they can make it I think. It goes on so smoothly, and leaves a gorgeous tint/tanned look. I love this. I just wish it wasn't so freakin' expensive (the bottle is only 125ml). I'm pretty fair-skinned in the winter so this shade was perfect for me. Definitely left a believable tan. It also starts to show immediately which is great. I will be re-purchasing for sure.

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Lotion
rated 4 of 5
genny1 4/19/2010 10:19:00 PM

Overall, I like this product. I've only been using it for about 4 or 5 days now, but so far my skin is looking better than ever. I've been using all kinds of creams, serums, exfoliants, cleansers, masks, you name it and my skin was completely dried out, CONSTANTLY flaky and dry. Then I realized it was the products I was using with all kinds of fragrances and chemicals in them. While those kinds of products might be good for some skin types, they do not suit my dry but somewhat acne-prone skin. I bought the cleanser and moisturizer for normal/dry skin and so far I'm impressed. My skin has gone back to normal, to too oily, not too dry, and so far no break outs!! It's not toooo sticky, maybe a tiny bit, it's fragrance-free which is great for my sensitive skin, has a really nice consistency and can be used anywhere on the body. It clearly doesn't clog my pores, b/c I have yet to see any little bumps and pimples show up on my nose and forehead like they used to. So for those of you with dry, sensitive (and maybe acne-prone) and flaky skin, I totally suggest this. Great product!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Carbon
rated 5 of 5
genny1 4/11/2010 1:31:00 PM

Best blackest black eye shadow I've ever used. If you want something incredibly black and matte, this is the eye shadow for you. If you want to make it more glittery, I think MAC has another eye shadow that is basically Carbon with silver glitter in it. Black is a tough eye shadow to blend and make look nice, but if you have the right techniques, you'll love it. Don't use this eyeshadow completely alone...you have to do use other dark eye shadows and neutrals to make it blend. You also need some good brushes. Look up some tutorials on Youtube, like Makeup Geek, and that should help you with using this intense black colour. I love this eye shadow! Great for looks for going out and special occasions. I just don't like the packaging that much. I bought the re-fill pan, so I could add it to my quad palette, but some of it came cracked. If I drop it, I freak out because I'm so scared it will all be cracked off. Overall: Definitely buy if you want an intense, matte black eye shadow.

Polishes -OPI - Dulce de Leche
rated 1 of 5
genny1 4/10/2010 10:40:00 PM

I'm writing this review for ALL OPI nail polishes. I really have to say that this brand is marked up and is not nearly as good as people say it is. It's incredibly expensive for no reason. I have 6 or 7 colours by OPI and I've only recently really realized that this product is a waste of money. It chips almost immediately. And the bottle is terrible. I haven't been able to open 2 of the bottles, because nail polish somehow dried at the top of the bottle and I cannot open it for the life of me. I just can't get over how bad this product chips. They have a great variety of colour, but that is it. I'm all about buying cheap nail polishes now. Rimmel has great staying power, does not chip right away. I just find OPI to be a huge rip off.

Tinted Moisturizer -Quo - Skin Tints tinted moisturizer spf 15
rated 4 of 5
genny1 4/10/2010 10:26:00 PM

This is my first tinted moisturizer and it pretty much lived up to my expectations. The only minor issue with it is that when I went to buy it at SDM, there were no samples left, so I couldn't determine which shade would be best for me simply by the name of the shade. So I asked the lady working at the make up desk to help me and she did not have a clue. She wouldn't open any to let me test any of them. Anyways, I assumed one of them would be best for me, I think it was Light that I wanted. But they had none left, so I decided to take my chances on the next lightest shade which was Cameo. Turns out there was a lighter colour - Beige. She could not tell me that. I really just should have waited for them to get more in. So I bought it anyways, and of course it was pretty dark. BUT, it blended VERY well, so it actually just made my face look like I had a bit of sun. And it didn't look fake or bad, even in natural light. I love this! It gives my skin a really nice dewy glow w/o it looking too made up like foundation does. It's great for day time make up. I just don't like the packaging...I think I got the old packaging. The pump is SUPER annoying. Every time I try to pump verrryyy lightly, but it ALWAYS squirts out and goes everywhere/too much comes out. They really need to change the pump. I also wish it came in a bigger bottle. But overall, I will definitely buy again. I think Quo is a great brand with great value. Next time I'll be sure to get Light and the new packaging.

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Foundation Brush
rated 4 of 5
genny1 4/10/2010 10:12:00 PM

I'm not absolutely in love with this brush. But it's my first foundation brush. I've used others and thought they were a bit better, but not to the point that there is any huge difference. The only reason I wouldn't buy it again is because I know I can find something better, maybe at a higher price, but not much more. Sephora brand is a bit marked up in my opinion.

Cleansers -Ponds - Deep Cleanser Cold Cream
rated 2 of 5
genny1 4/10/2010 10:08:00 PM

I'm not a fan of this product. It's strange because I have pretty dry skin and this is designed for those with dry skin. It actually makes me break out. I always wash it off with a face cloth and yet it still leaves a very greasy residue on my face. I don't like the smell either. Disappointed with it!

Cleansers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Cleanser
rated 1 of 5
genny1 4/10/2010 10:05:00 PM

This product was awful for my skin. It left my skin feeling incredibly dry, tight and flaky afterwards. It was almost like I could not wait a second before slapping on a cream on my face after I washed it with this cleanser. It kind of reminded me of washing my face with bar soap. But I hear a lot of people like Aveeno cleansers. I think it just wasn't right for my skin type: dry. It smells nice though!

Cleansers -L'Oreal - Skin Genesis Deep Purifying Foaming Cream Cleanser
rated 1 of 5
genny1 4/10/2010 10:01:00 PM

Possibly one of the worst cleansers I've used. My skin is dry though, so this might be why - choosing the wrong cleanser for my skin type. I'm sick of the smell, and I hate to throw it away, but I just can't use it anymore. It did absolutely nothing for my face.

Scrubs -Biore - Pore Perfect Pore Unclogging Scrub
rated 3 of 5
genny1 4/10/2010 9:57:00 PM

I thought this was going to be great, but it did not improve my blemishes at all. It smells yummy, but that's about it. You can feel it burn a little from the Salicylic Acid. Left my face pretty dry/tight. I have dry skin, so clearly this is not the best cleanser for me. It might be good for those with oily, acne-prone skin. But it made my skin awful, especially during the the winter.

Cleansers -Clinique - Liquid Facial Soap Extra Mild
rated 5 of 5
genny1 4/10/2010 3:09:00 PM

I got a sample of this from Sephora along with the Dramatically different facial lotion. Using the two together made my skin look great. I have dry skin and this cleanser was great! Not harsh, very mild and milky texture. It took off my make up and everything else and didn't leave my skin dry and tight. I just wish it wasn't so freakin' expensive!!

Self Tanners -Aveda - Sun Source [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
genny1 4/10/2010 3:04:00 PM

I've re-purchased this product several times. It's the best self-tanner I've ever used. I don't think it's too orange or too intense, so it's great that way. And I'm pretty pale. Smells alright and it works the way self-tanner should work. If you really want a self-tanner, this is worth splurging on. The cheap ones seem to always leave streaks no matter what you do. FYI, I was just informed that this product is discontinued....So disappointed :(

Lotions/ Creams -St. Ives - Mineral Therapy Lotion
rated 5 of 5
genny1 4/10/2010 2:58:00 PM

I use the Nourishing Body Creme in the jar...and it is magnificent! It smells amazing. It has a great texture and makes your skin incredibly soft. It's a little more expensive than I expected it to be, but it's worth it. If you want a very moisturizing body cream without it being too greasy, this is the one for you. I used to always use body butters like Body Shop's body butter, but this tops them hands down. Way better-smelling and not greasy, but very moisturizing. I'll keep buying this for sure.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 5 of 5
genny1 4/10/2010 2:50:00 PM

Love this mascara. I like to try new products and I've realized after trying many different mascaras, I absolutely love this one. I use blackest black. I also use the clear mascara. I can't stand synthetic/plastic bristles that many products have now. I love how this brush is small, it's much easier to apply. I will keep buying this!
