Shampoo -Matrix - Biolage - Hydrating Shampoo
fuzzylumps 5/19/2007 9:22:00 PM
Claim to Fame: Gently cleanses and nourishes dry, stressed hair. A botanical complex of lemongrass, sage and kelp helps leave hair shiny, soft and healthy. Get Real: I really like this shampoo! It smells great, makes my hair shiny, incredibly easy to manage and soft. I'm gonna be sad when this runs out, because it's a bit out of my budget right now.

Conditioner -Neutrogena - Clean moisturizing conditioner
fuzzylumps 5/19/2007 9:18:00 PM
Claim to Fame: Hydrates and conditions to improve dry, damaged hair, without leaving heavy build-up. This moisture-enriched formula softens hair while it penetrates dry, damaged strands to strengthen and make hair more resilient. It rinses clean and won't weigh hair down, so it's great for everyday use. This lightweight formula, with its fresh, clean scent, leaves hair shiny, silky and healthy-looking. Get Real: This conditioner is just okay. It doesn't do anything more than rinsing your hair with cold water or vinegar would do. It does does make hair slick while in the shower and perhaps serves to untangle hair, or keep hair tangle-free. Otherwise, it's very much purposeless.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - temptations 3 in 1 Crazy Caramel Corn
fuzzylumps 5/19/2007 9:11:00 PM
I love this SO MUCH! Every time I use it, the area surrounding the bathroom smells like a caramel popcorn explosion. As with all B+BW body washes, it's kickass, but not so much as a shampoo. I can't wait for next Christmas to see what they roll out. I know I'm in love with this + Pecan Passion, but there's room in my heart for more.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Pecan Passion Temptations 3 in 1
fuzzylumps 5/19/2007 9:07:00 PM
Claim to Fame: * The alluring and indulgent blend of rich brown sugar, warm pecan and whipped vanilla cream. * A body wash, bubble bath and shampoo all in one. * With conditioning pro-vitamin B5. Get Real: I can't actually smell the brown sugar, pecan and vanilla cream separately... but I was never good at that anyway. This smells suspiciously like cinnamon buns, or whatever treacly treats B+BW makes into body washes come Christmastime. Also, I'm actually glad it's full of chemicals because I'm allergic to any natural nut oil extracts. As with all B+BW, I'm wary with using this as a shampoo, and I never take baths so I'm not sure how it fares as a bubble bath. But as a body wash, it's pure decadence. I love using it to shave, too. The bottle lasts forever and I got it on sale for $6 after Christmas. Score!

Scrubs -Neutrogena - Body Clear Body Scrub
fuzzylumps 5/19/2007 8:51:00 PM
Claim to Fame: The first body scrub to contain a proven acne-fighting ingredient that treats and helps prevent body breakouts. This effective, yet gentle scrub cleans deep into pores, sweeping away dead skin cells, to give you smooth, clear skin. The foaming lather rinses completely without pore-clogging residue, leaving your skin feeling clean. Get Real: What foaming lather...? This is incredibly hard to get out of the bottle. That completely ruins the whole thing for me, as I'm usually half-blind in the shower, groping around for stuff. That being said, I didn't see any improvement in my body acne after using this for a while. Just the body wash alone is way better for me.

Moisturizers -Biore - Pore Minimizing Lightweight Moisturizer [DISCONTINUED]
fuzzylumps 3/23/2007 6:51:00 PM
Claim to Fame: Now you see ’em, now you don’t. Bioré® Pore Minimizing Lightweight Moisturizer sends pores undercover with a combination of soft-focus powder and natural extracts that noticeably improves the appearance of pores. Oil-free formula with SPF 15 lightly hydrates and protects skin from sun damage, and a patented ingredient leaves skin feeling smooth all day long.
Get Real: Soft focus powder? What? Anyway, unfounded claims aside, this stuff made my skin feel really soft and dewy (which I like)! While SPF 15 might not be enough during the summer, right now it's good for me. I really really like this, especially in conjunction with the face wash. They both smell very good, and leave my skin feeling soft. I can't stress that enough, haha!

Cleansers -Biore - pore minimizing foaming face wash - oil free
fuzzylumps 3/23/2007 6:47:00 PM
Claim to Fame: Start with a clean slate. Bioré® Pore Minimizing Foaming Face Wash’s mild pH-neutral formula with natural extracts and skin-smoothing microbeads gently exfoliates and removes dirt, oil and makeup. Visibly refines pores and leaves skin silky smooth and soft.
Get Real: Yes, my skin was soft afterwards. Yes, it removed oil. Yes, it smelled really yummy. I'm not sure about pore minimizing, though. And the large beads really didn't seem to do anything. All in all, it's a good cleanser, though. Nothing wrong with it.

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Age Shield Sunblock Spf45
fuzzylumps 3/21/2007 9:31:00 PM
Claim to Fame: This broad-spectrum sunblock defends skin against UVA and UVB rays. Waterproof and sweatproof, it contains Anti-Oxidant Vitamins A, C and E to combat environmental damage. Protect your skin with the first line of defense against the signs of aging.
Get Real: As I'm not worried about the anti-aging aspects of this sunblock (go figure), I won't get into that. I did a spot test before slathering it all over my precious skin, after reading the reviews here. I put it on lightly, but still experienced SLIGHT balling up. The smell is exactly like their Healthy Skin Face Lotion, which I also use and put on afterwards. There was a faint sting as I smoothed it on, but nothing unbearable.
Morning and Day After: Perfection! I didn't even know I had this on. I mixed it with my Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion and it didn't ball up at all. There was no detectable scent, no breakouts, nothing. I will update this if I experience any problems.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact
fuzzylumps 3/18/2007 9:36:00 PM
Claim to Fame: Get no clump, no glob, beautifully-defined lashes. The LashExact brush is a patented technology with bristles that are aligned and clean, so you get the Exact look you want.
Get Real: This is my HG mascara! Really the best. Sometimes, though, it makes my eyes tear if I apply with too heavy of a hand. No idea why. So I try doing applying lightly. Even so, it's great, but not very dramatic, good for the improved natural look.

Blush -Christian Dior - Dior Bronze Blush Sunrise Party 001
fuzzylumps 3/18/2007 9:29:00 PM
Claim to Fame: Accessorize cheekbones with radiance and light. Each of these gorgeous, Dior signature compacts contains four side-by-side shades of bronzer, highlighter, and cheek color that can be applied separately or together for a sunny glow, no matter the weather.
Get Real: Wow, the possibilities with this bronzer/blush quad are ENDLESS! All of the colors are very very beautiful, and they complement each other perfectly. The powder itself is perfect in every way, never streaky, chalky or anything but perfection every time! Smells good, too. :D

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara
fuzzylumps 3/18/2007 9:23:00 PM
Claim to Fame:This rich, deeply pigmented mascara has a large, full brush to give lashes that "just off the catwalk" look in just one coat. Never clumpy, always sexy.
Get Real: This really really reminds me of Maybelline Great Lash, in that it's wet and clumpy. It almost weighs down my lashes! Although, if I put CoverGirl Lash Exact over, it looks pretty slammin'. But overall, the Diorshow is very unnecessary, cus Lash Exact looks slammin' all by it's cheap self. I do feel pretty good toting around Dior, though. So I guess it's good for an odd, twisted ego boost? ::shrug::

Powder -Alison Raffaele - Mineral Powder Foundation
fuzzylumps 3/18/2007 9:18:00 PM
Claim to Fame: Our Mineral Powder offers a sheer, natural looking matte coverage that evens out the skintone and blurs minor imperfections. The Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide in this exclusive formula naturally offer numerous skin care benefits: they help calm and soothe irritated skin, they help to balance out excess oil production, and they provide natural protection against UVA/UVB rays.
Get Real: Overall, it's... eh. I could take it or leave it. I don't really notice any difference when I wear this. I have the To Go Brush, and when I tap the brush to get the powder out, hardly anything comes up! I've resorted to opening up the contraption and dabbing a brush inside the minuscule pot. Not what I call convenient, but it's the only way I can get a substantial amount to come out. Even so, as I said, it doesn't make a huge difference, or any noticeable difference for that matter.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dandelion
fuzzylumps 3/18/2007 9:05:00 PM
Claim to Fame: Start your day the "perk-me-up" way, and keep them guessing how you look so pretty this early in the morning. Dust on our soft, pink, perk-me-up powder for instant radiance and a youthful appearance. It's the perfect shade of pink that brightens everyone's complexion without looking powdery or chalky.
Get Real: Wowie! I'm ALIIIIIVE! I love putting this over bronzer, it gives the best rosy goldish glow to my pale skin. With other blushes, they would look streaky and highly unnatural, but this has the perfect blendable consistency and never looks fake. The box, while very cute, is sort of annoying. It's hard to shove into my small makeup bag, and when I open it, there's powder EVERYWHERE. It's easy to tap off, though. On another note, the smell ain't bad, although I can't put my finger on it. I hope I never run out of this stuff, 'cus damn it's expensive! ;)

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Mineral Face Powder
fuzzylumps 3/18/2007 8:55:00 PM
Claim to Fame: Maintains a natural appearance by gently absorbing oil without drying and helping to minimize the appearance of fine lines. For extra sensitive or breakout-prone skin!
Get Real: I really like this, I have it in Light Bronzer. It's perfect for my pale skin, really warms it up. I don't see how it would minimize the appearance of fine lines... but I don't have any anyway. One caveat is if you even LIGHTLY swipe a brush over it, the thing turns all powdery, and it gets all over your hand and wrist. In this way, it's not a good option for a quick touch-up in a public bathroom. Overall, it's an excellent face powder to get all bronze-y without looking fake.
Morning After: This didn't make me break out during the day, BUT, the one time I left it on without washing my face at night, I got these really ugly pimples on one side of my face. Perhaps it was my pillow, perhaps it was this... but something like that has never happened to me before.

Lotions/ Creams -Dove - Regenerating Night Lotion
fuzzylumps 12/31/2006 12:42:00 AM
Claim to Fame: Unique nourishing formula, containing micro-pearls of shea butter that help fuel skin's nightly renewal process. Wake up to touchably smooth + naturally radiant skin!
Get Real: The scent is much better than the body wash (yuck!) + the "micro-pearls" (just say BEADS, people!) are prettily pink. Cute. The ingredients are nothing new (glycerin, dimetheticone...) so there goes that "unique formula" bit. Oh yeah, I've never seen shea butter + honey before. I'll see if I wake up with new skin in the morning.
Morning After: Scent is completely gone. No rashes or any other type of reaction, but skin isn't any softer or more radiant.
