Scrubs -Tree Hut - Tree Hut Brazilian Nut Sugar Scrub
fundercat55 1/7/2013 12:28:00 AM
Fantastic product. Not too oily, yet still moisturizing. Everything I want in a scrub and super reasonably priced to boot. A little more strongly sweet scented than what I normally prefer, but that scent fades quickly and doesn't follow me around for hours after I rinse it off. Will repurchase again and again.

Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo
fundercat55 7/9/2012 12:14:00 AM
This is, without a doubt, the best dry shampoo I've ever tried. I have very dark hair and a scalp that tends to get greasy within 24 hours from washing (sometimes less). Because of this and the fact that my hair is pretty straight and fine, I have a hard time skipping washes. My hair does not hide that next day greasiness very well. :) In an effort to try to wash every other day, I've tried dozens of dry shampoos. Some barely managed to freshen my hair for a few hours and almost all leave an unpleasant gray cast to my hair. This one, however, has been a godsend. It creates fantastic body, and when I use it I can actually go two or three days without washing! While the slight dullness/grayishness that it gives my hair is still there (I think that's almost unavoidable when you have black hair), it's almost imperceptible. Add on top of that the fact that it's super cheap, and doesn't have a lingering, overpowering scent and I'll be rebuying this as long as they offer it. I haven't had any problems with the can leaking- I got this about a month ago, I use it generously several times a week and it's still going strong.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Buriti Baby Body Butter
fundercat55 3/12/2012 3:25:00 PM
This is my very favorite body butter. It's light and sinks in very quickly, but is extremely moisturizing and leaves my skin silky soft. I like the light, powdery scent. I found this a TJ Maxx for super cheap and I wish I had scooped up two or three of them. I would definitely buy this again.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Million Lashes

Love the length this gives, hate that after about 3 hours of wear it starts flaking like crazy. I wouldn't buy it again because of that, which is a shame because it really does give a great length and definition.

Deodorants -The Body Shop - DeoDry Dry-Effect Deodorant
fundercat55 8/7/2011 12:46:00 PM
So disappointed that this deodorant just didn't work at all. I picked up the roll-on version of the green one from TJMaxx and was really excited to try it. It has a really nice herbal scent that lasts about 5 minutes. Then the rest of the day it's like I didn't put anything on at all, which doesn't really work for me in Florida in August. Oh well, back to my Nivea roll-on.

Bronzers -Bobbi Brown - Illuminating Bronzing Powder in Antigua
fundercat55 5/1/2011 5:21:00 PM
Gorgeous. Just gorgeous. I have very fair, pink toned skin, so most bronzers I've tried in the past either turn orange on me or just make my face look dirty. Not this one. It gives me a beautiful, "lit from within" glow to my skin, without being sparkly or obvious. Love it. Great for a very natural, effortless look. Would definitely purchase this again, although I feel like this pan is going to last aaaaages.

Scrubs -LUSH - Brimstone
fundercat55 4/6/2011 5:23:00 PM
They aren't kidding around with the name Brimstone on this one. The sulfurous odor is the main reason I won't be purchasing this again. I ordered both this and Glorious Mud from the website and while I adore Glorious Mud, I found Brimstone to be both average in it's scrubby ability and stinky. Does a good job smoothing out rough knees, elbows and ankles, but no better than a handful of kosher salt from the kitchen would do. A rare misfire from Lush for me.

Polishes -China Glaze - In the Lime Light
fundercat55 4/4/2010 9:27:00 PM
Very fun, super bright neon green. It's a little time consuming to apply, since it requires at least 3 coats to get full, even coverage. And since it dries matte, like most neons, you have to put a top coat on to make it shine. All that I expected, but what was really disappointing is that it started chipping and peeling in a day and a half. After all the work it took to get the color just right I was beyond peeved to have it ruined so quickly. I own several China Glaze colors that I love and this is the first one that I've had chip like that. I gave it a 3, just because it really is a great color for spring, but I wouldn't purchase it again.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Lemon Paradise
fundercat55 3/30/2010 4:31:00 PM
This is a really pleasant, softly-sweet lemon scent. I really like it, but I would not buy again simply because it smells sooo similar to Ocean Potion's Aloe After-Sun Lotion. Lemon Paradise is perhaps a little more subtle, but they are really close. And since I can get a HUGE bottle of the Ocean Potion stuff for less than $5, I'll go with that. That's not to say I don't like Lemon Paradise, but if a less expensive smell-alike is available, I'll go with the cheaper option.

Lipstick -MAC - Cremesheen - Ever Hip
fundercat55 3/18/2010 6:26:00 PM
Ah, the elusive peachy-coral that is flattering to my cool-toned fair skin! I love it. I'm always enamoured of these peachy types of lip colors, but whenever I try them they just don't work for me. So I didn't have high hopes for this, but as soon as I tried it on I was proved wrong. It's a beautiful sheer color that really brightens up my face without looking garish. It is buildable, but I prefer just a swipe or two to give a subtle wash of color. And as an added bonus, the Liberty of London packing is ridiculously cute.

Polishes -Sinful - You Just Wait
fundercat55 2/14/2010 2:01:00 AM
I normally go for bold or unusual colors when it comes to nail polish (obnoxiously loud brights, bronzes, dark blues or greens, etc), but I've been playing around with more sheer, nude looks lately. Unfortunately most of the ones I've tried have either been unflattering and washed out against my cool-toned skin, or have been too subtle and just disappeared. If I'm going to go through the trouble of painting my nails I want something to look at, dangit! I originally wanted to try China Glaze's Chiroscuro, but when I looked at it in person it was browner and more tawny than I had expected. You Just Wait is everything I was hoping Chiroscuro would be, and it was $5 cheaper. It's a lovely sheer golden pink with a green duochrome flash to it that I could look at all day. One coat gives a nice wash to the nail and 2 coats is true to the bottle color- both look great. I easily get a weeks wear out of it before any sign of wear or chippage. My only complaint is that it takes a bit longer to dry than I would like, but it's not an unreasonable amount of time. I've been hit or miss with the Sinful Colors polishes, but this one is definitely a bull's eye. And for less than $2 a bottle you can afford to experiment with them. This is a definite repurchase for me.

Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Bent Eyeliner Brush
fundercat55 2/14/2010 1:38:00 AM
This thing is seriously magical. I really like the look of a slightly winged lined eye, but I normally am terrible at applying eyeliner. This brush makes it seem like I actually know what I am doing. It is so much easier for me to get a nice, even, tight line when using this brush. I love it. It's good quality, affordable and makes the job of applying eyeliner easier. I would definitely repurchase.

Conditioner -The Body Shop - Banana Nourishing Conditioner
fundercat55 1/27/2010 9:55:00 AM
I decided to give this a try when I saw that it had been reintroduced. I've been really pleased with the results. It's left my fine hair very soft, shiny and not at all weighed down. The scent is a little intense when I first apply it, but as I work it into my hair the scent calms down and actually reminds me a bit of Lush's American Cream. The only real drawback for me is the price vs the amount I have to use each time. The conditioner is sort of thin, so I have to use quite a bit to cover my shoulder length hair- and with the small size of the bottle, I'm going to go through it quickly. I would buy again, but as a special treat, not an everyday conditioner.

Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana - The One
fundercat55 1/19/2010 12:42:00 AM
I hate to give this a scent a less than stellar review, because I do love how it smells- just not on me. On other people, it is a warm, cozy, inviting fragrance. And it starts that way on my skin as well, but give it about 30 minutes and on me it morphs into this really overpowering, astringent, super old lady death cloud. It makes my throat hurt just thinking about it. I hate that this doesn't work with my body chemistry because otherwise it would be right up my alley. Oh well. I traded it for a bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy (which I love and works well on me), so it wasn't a total loss, but I won't buy it again. More's the pity.

Deodorants -Dove - Dove Ultimate Visibly Smooth
fundercat55 10/15/2009 1:07:00 AM
As a deodorant/anti-perspirant I'd give this 4 stars. I love Dove deos and have used them for years. As a hair minimizer, this isn't any great shakes. I've been using this for about 3 months now and while I noticed a very slight change in the texture the hair, it's not enough to justify the extra cost. I had high hopes as I've always been pleased with my Dove deos and as someone with extremely fair skin and black hair, I would love something that could minimize the obvious underarm stubble I experience. But no such luck. Hair didn't grow any more slowly or sparsely, just slightly more fine in texture. I'll use up this one stick I bought and then switch back to my normal Dove Ultimate powder scent. Not a repurchase for me.
