Lip Gloss -Palladio - Herbal Lipgloss - Clearly Coral
rated 5 of 5
frgrl616 8/6/2011 9:33:00 PM

I bought this because I wanted a non-sticky gloss that was under $5 from a brand that doesn't test on animals. It was an impulse buy, but those were my guidelines. This is my first product from Palladio and I am definitely impressed. Clearly Coral is a pop of color perfect for summer or any sunny day. I don't usually wear too much color on my lips since I like to play up my eyes and this is perfect to wear on top of a clear lip balm. I also like how moisturizing this is.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Colorstay Mineral Lipglaze, Forever Fig 510
rated 4 of 5
frgrl616 8/6/2011 9:22:00 PM

I bought this based on the reviews and have used it quite frequently. I love the color and texture but hate the smell. Some have said it doesn't stay on as long as it should. I'm not disappointed in that area but then again, I don't have high expectations of how long this gloss should stay on. I use it on top of my MAC tlc so it doesn't dry out my lips. Overall, I'm very happy w/ this lip glaze and wouldn't hesitate to purchase again.

Concealers -MAC - Pro Longwear concealer
rated 5 of 5
frgrl616 6/20/2011 6:58:00 PM

I bought this in March and it has now surpassed my studio finish pot concealer as my go to/HG concealer. Here is why I love it...I have really oily skin and I love how this stays put, doesn't slide into my laugh lines or crease under my eye. It also doesn't dry out my skin or look cakey. It is very build-able and does dry quickly so I start off with a little and add more as needed until I get the look I'm going for. It doesn't break me out at all, nor do I feel it on my skin. I know one complaint has been about the amount that comes out. I simply bought a tiny lip balm screw top jar and place one pump's worth in there and use it for a couple of days. No waste-EVER. Lastly, I am most impressed with how much product is in this little bottle. I thought for sure I would use it up quickly but as I said, I bought it back in March and have used it almost daily since then. I've only used about 25% of the bottle. So I'm guessing this will last me almost a year. This is perfect since I probably shouldn't keep concealer any longer than that.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
rated 5 of 5
frgrl616 11/6/2010 10:35:00 PM

I wish I had come off my high horse about drugstore foundations along time ago. This stuff is pretty awesome. I bought combination/oily in Caramel since I'm normally NC45 and everywhere I looked people said it was a perfect match. It does dry quickly and the bottle doesn't have a pump. But who cares? I just work fast and transferred it to an old pump bottle I had...(recycle, reduce, reuse...right?) My favorite thing about this foundation is that it does not move through out the day...At ALL! I have super oily skin especially at the end of the night. With this stuff, my concealer doesn't crease, and my powder doesn't crease. I apply with a MAC foundation brush. I think it's 190 (it's been so long since I purchased it). I top it off w/ mineralize skinfinish pressed powder. I don't feel too done up because it's really light compared to other foundations I've tried in the past. The only negative thing I have noticed is that if I sweat, my face will tingle where I'm wearing the foundation, so limit my use of it to days that I know I won't be running around too much. That said, I will totally repurchase when I run out and I may even branch out to try other Revlon products.

Mascara -La Femme - Cake Mascara
rated 5 of 5
frgrl616 11/6/2010 10:25:00 PM

I've been debating whether to buy this or no because its really hard to find information on La Femme and I wanted to know if they used animal testing. It doesn't say on the packaging and they don't have a website (that I've been able to find). Well, I finally got my hands on a catalog and they say they don't do animal testing so that was all I needed. I'm lucky enough to have a Beauty Supply store up the street from me that carries the whole La Femme line, so I went there to purchase it and it was only $5! I've read all of the reviews and a lot of people complain about the brushes/applicators it comes with. I ran mine under the faucet and swished it around the mascara and started applying it to my lashes. I immediately loved the effects but was paranoid that it would start running/smudging since that's what other reviewers said. I checked the mirror many times during the day and it stayed put. I'm really happy with how it made my lashes look done but not too done. My lashes are not long but they are already curly and this cake mascara enhanced the curl but didn't really do anything for the length. That's okay though because Long lashes aren't what I bought this for. Anyhow, I'm really happy with this purchase, it was super cheap, it doesn't smell (which I hate about every mascara I've ever purchased), it will last me forever, they don't test on animals, and it performs the functions of a mascara which is all I wanted in the first place. Update( 1 week later): I'm still in love with this mascara. I've been using it with the LaFemme Sealer and haven't had any problems with it smudging or running down my eyes. I'm not a cryer but I am a laugher and even when my eyes get teary from laughing so hard, there hasn't been a problem. Oh, and a couple of days ago on a very windy day, and my eyes did get very teary for about 10 minutes and still no smearing or running of the mascara. I'm still completely satisfied!

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Home made Flaxseed Gel
rated 5 of 5
frgrl616 11/1/2010 11:14:00 PM

I've been using/making flax gel for the past two years and after my first batch, I was hooked. I have super curly 3c/4a hair and this is the best gel/spray I've found to style it. When my hair was longer, I diluted the gel with water to make it into a hairspray to use in the shower for a wash and go. Now that my hair is very short, I simply use the gel spread it through my hair to get the curls together. I keep my batches refrigerated for about 1 to 2 weeks. You can kind of tell when it starts to turn which is when I now its time to make a new batch. I usually mix it with a few drops of glycerin but since I ran out, my last batch was made w/ out it without any noticeable differences to my hair. I love that its "dirt cheap" to make. I've heard you can reuse the seeds but I just toss mine after boiling once. Oh, and another thing I like is how light it is at the end of the day. I don't feel like I have "product" in my hair. It doesn't feel icky if I sleep with it in my hair and it doesn't break me out. I can't sing its praises enough and I recommend it to any curly haired person who is willing to try it.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Complete Salon Commander in Chic
rated 3 of 5
frgrl616 11/1/2010 11:06:00 PM

I fell in love with the formula, bottle, brush, and color immediately and it has been my go to color this fall. Unfortunately, I've found out that Sally Hansen tests on Animals and for that I will not repurchase and will have to look elsewhere for a similar shade when this runs out.

Eyeliner -Avon - Ultra Luxury Eye Liner
rated 5 of 5
frgrl616 11/1/2010 11:04:00 PM

I love this pencil liner because it doesn't smudge on my oily lids and goes on so smooth and buttery. I finally repurchased a black pencil and one eggplant and am very happy with my purchases. When catching a sale, I got them for $1.99 which is super cheap compared to other brands.

Eye Shadow -NYX - 10 Color Palette - Champagne & Caviar
rated 2 of 5
frgrl616 11/1/2010 10:59:00 PM

The best thing about this palette is the packaging and the shadow colors. Very nice neutral shades to wear natural looks w/ little shimmer. Unfortunately, the quality of the shadow was not what I was used to and the actual color payoff was little to none. I had to keep packing on the color and in the end it was a lot of work for nothing. Another thing I didn't like was the very strong chemical scent each time I opened the Palette. I really couldn't get over it and I felt I was breathing in particles whenever I put my eye shadow brush to the shadow. Oddly enough, the packaging was nice. There was a nice good size mirror with it and if the shadow had been better quality, it could have been something I kept with me at all times. I ended up giving it away to a coworker in the hopes that she might get better use out of it.

With this top coat, I've stopped looking for any others. I wish it was a little cheaper but quality costs.

Nails -Unlisted Brand - Konad
rated 5 of 5
frgrl616 9/8/2010 9:55:00 PM

I LOVE KONAD! I've been using the system for two years and I seriously do my nails like every other day just so I can put a new design on them. I've got it down to about 30 minutes from base coat to top coat. A couple of things, some special polishes are better than others..for example, dark brown and forest green princess polishes didn't work so well for me but all of the others have. Also, I can't find information on whether they test on animals so I will use what I've purchased but will look elsewhere for polishes that I can use for Konad that are known to be cruelty free. Also, as far as technique, I use tweezers to hold a cotton square dipped in acetone to clean my image plate, scraper, and stamper so that I don't have to mess up my nails while using konad.

Eyes -La Femme - Cake Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
frgrl616 9/8/2010 9:50:00 PM

I've been wearing this non stop since I got it last weekend. I'd never used or heard of a cake liner before and I saw it at my beauty supply store while browsing and thought I'd give it a try since it was so cheap. I bought the sealer with it and went home to try. It took a couple of tries to get the hang of it and now, on my third day, I'm wondering where this has been my whole life. I've been using fluidlines since they came out but have never liked how expensive it is and how it dries out over time. I do still use a pencil liner to line my inner rims because the sealer (or maybe its the eyeliner) burns a little if it gets in my eyes. Overall, its totally worth it to buy it and give it a try.

Top/Base Coats -China Glaze - Strong Adhesion Base Coat
rated 5 of 5
frgrl616 5/2/2010 5:08:00 PM

I'm on my 2nd bottle of China Glaze Base Coat. I used to use a generic one from Sally's until I switched to this. In a pinch, I bought a Seche brand base coat and it didn't work at all so I went back to ChG and havent' looked back. My only complaint would be the smell, but its nothing to get worked up over.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Denman Grooming Brush
rated 5 of 5
frgrl616 5/6/2008 3:14:00 PM

i just now heard about these brushes and I went to my local sally's to pick one up. I got the "D3" because it was the only one available. This is hands down, the best tool I have found to detangle my hair in the shower. I just bought it yesterday and I was able to comb through my super thick/curly hair both wet and dry. it was such a pleasurable experience, I kept brushing it just for the mere fact that it didn't hurt my head. Usually, I comb in the shower w/ a wide tooth comb, with tons of conditioner in my hair. I always wake w/ a sore scalp the next day because of all the tugging and pulling i have to do. Not this morning! What a surprise. Us three that have reviewed this product, now have to go out and tell all our friends!

Eyes -MAC - Paint Pot in Rubenesque
rated 4 of 5
frgrl616 5/2/2008 8:49:00 PM

I love the color, and texture of this paint pot. Unlike Mac Paints, I have never had the problem of applying too much to my lid. I like the sleek feel of the glass pot and I generally don't have a problem applying w/ either my finger or a brush. The only thing I don't like about paint pots is that this tends to crease by the end of the day. I never had this problem w/ any of my paints. The fact that they crease, though isn't a big enough issue for me to stop using. In fact, I haven't used my paints since getting my first paint pot 3 or 4 months ago. Update 11/6/10 I'm not such a fan of this shade in particular because the shimmer always seems to apply unevenly.
