After thinking about a GHD for 5 years I finally bought the Pink Orchid styler last week. I have to say I'm thoroughly disappointed with this one. It's not nearly as hot as the GHD IV (ceramic) which I've borrowed from friends before. Because it's not as hot, I don't get sleek straight hair and I can't do wavy hair either. Very very unhappy as I paid 3 times the price as my other non-GHD straighteners and the result is worse. Try it out in the saloon to see if it'll work for your hair. If you have fine hair and lots of money then go for it. But if you have thick and coarse hair you'd do better with a GHD IV..

Polishes -Chi Chi - Chi Chi Salon Formula

I own two of these. One is called 'show me the money' (a dark jade with shimmer) and the other one is a light minty green also with shimmer. I have to say i'm impressed! The formula is really thick and with the dark jade one i only needed one coat! I really like that the shimmer in them is really subtle, just enough to give a sheen. And with a top coat the color should easily last a week. Chichi has a huge range of nail colors at affordable prices. I think they're great if you want to try out fun crazy colors. Can't wait to get some more next time they're on sale.

A very disappointing product. The brush is way to thin and my nails start chipping in ~5 days. I much prefer the "top to bottom" one from Orly. Would not repurchase.

Lotions/ Creams -Avon - Moisture Therapy Hand Cream

My can't-live-without hand cream in winter. It is very greasy indeed but I need this to retain the moisture in my skin. Other hand creams just seem to...evaporate as soon as I apply them. It has a very subtle scent so I sometimes mix it with others (eg Victoria Secret lotions) according to mood :). It reminds me of the Cetaphil hand cream that I used to own except this is way cheaper. The packaging is simple yet practical and the size (75g) is great for keeping in the handbag. I can't wait to order some more...

Treatments -OPI - Avoplex Cuticle oil

I give my hands a lot of abuse (working in lab, wearing gloves all day, cooking, drumming, gardening etc) so needless to say cuticles are my enemy. This product my sister swears by it and sort of made me buy it when we went shopping. Personally I don't think it's as magical as my sister claims. It absorbs slowly, it feels greasy, and the effect is not very noticeable unless you use it everyday. I do really like the smell though!

BB Cream -MISSHA - M Perfect Cover BB Cream

The concept of the product is great: foundation+sunscreen+blemish control+wrinkle control+whitening in one tube! I couldn't not try it! However, I'd like to point out a few down points: (1) The color selection is poor (3 shades, and not all are readily available) (2) The scent is too strong (not suitable for sensitive skin) (3) It kinda broke me out.. and I don't break out easity (4) It's very drying on the skin, maybe it's better for summer (4) In YouTube videos people say you only need a little bit, too much would make your face grey. But! You really should cover your face well in order to get protection from the sun and hence wrinkle prevention. So overall, the product receives 6 stars for the concept but in reality it's not really there yet.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Lineur Intense

This has become a must have item for me now. I use it every day and the same tube has lasted me six months so far. It dries fast and the brush is very easy to use. I have both "Carbon black" and the plain "black", they're very comparable except the former is shinier I think. I would love to try the Lacome Artliner that everyone raves about but don't want to spend that much money and I'm pretty happy with this one. Just wish it was available in NZ.. I had to stock up during my trip to the US :P

My new favorite fragrance! I'm not usually a woody person but now I can't live without it.This is nothing like what I own - a very unique fragrance (I'm over florals!).. so warm and rich and sweet. One or two spritz lasts me all day. I also love the lotion in the gift pack unfortunately it's hard to find now.

Concealers -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector [DISCONTINUED]

This concealer blends easily and has a good color range. However it's on the oily side, my mascara rubs off in the under eye area quite a lot. Never used the highlighter side so can't comment

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Nail Life in Mushroom

I'm the last person to try the muddy/gray/mushroom colored nail polishes simply because it wasn't available in NZ until recently (or I wasn't looking hard enough)... I spotted the "NAIL LIFE" polishes at a pharmacy and they offer both a mushroom color and a gray color. I got both! I've only tried the MUSHROOM one so far and I love it! If you apply skillfully you could get away with only one coat but in the photo I have 2 coats on. What's even more appealing is that there's a diamond-like crystal at the front of the bottle! So cute! It cost me NZ$9 (~US$6) each. None of the other colors in the range caught my eye but I definitely recommend MUSHROOM :) ttp://img.makeupalley.com/3/4/1/3/1703047.JPG

I am going to stock up on this!!! The 2nd color is perfect for my under eye circles. Great coverage, great staying power, does not settle in fine lines, does not make circles gray, at a super affordable price. Recommend to all!

Lip Gloss -E.L.F. - Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15 - Malt Shake

Malt shake is such a nice nude color and it's pigmented enough to wear it on its own and look great too. The consistency is very thick and so it stays put for ages. I love that the color is so wearable and there is no shimmer. I gave it one less lippy because of the smell. If it was a tad less strong it would be peeerrrfect!

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous - Pink Afterglow 020

I think the size of the shimmer in this gloss is way to big. You can see it clearly on the lip and you can feel it too! The color is gorgeous and the formula is nice though. If you don't mind the shimmer then this will be a nice gloss

Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E - Fragrance Free

This is a good body lotion in that it absorbs quickly, non-greasy, and long lasting. I love that it is fragrance free (still a hint of cocoa smell remain) unlike the original lotion. Love this. Will repurchase.
