Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Marchesa Parfum D'Extase

"Don't judge a book by it's cover" - NOT TRUE!!! What first attracted me to "Marchesa" was the bottle - GLAMGLAMGLAM - followed, of course, by the fragrance, itself. Maybe it was the power of suggestion - all the publicity for the soon-to-be-released "Great Gatsby", but the scent is sheer, high-class, moneyed, Tiffany-style "notice ME" - Daisy Buchannan would wear this along with that gorgeously bejeweled hand ornament. And she would LOVE seeing that heavy "crystal", "jewel"-encrusted bottle on her dressing tabletop. The whole package makes me happy!

I love this fragrance for it's warm Oriental notes. Strong but not overpowering with good longevity. This is a keeper.

Fragrances -Yves Saint Laurent - Parisienne

Love it! Just love it! Not jammy, saccharine floral, not teeny-bopper cheap. A lovely scent that surrounds me with softly, feminine loveliness - makes me even happier to be a woman. An equal to my other long-time favorite, Saint Laurent's original Paris.

Fragrances -Alfred Sung - Shi

This is reminiscent of Michael Kors' "Island", in other words, generic, not noteworthy in the least. Bottle is pretty, though. If aquatic is what you're looking for, you can't do better than Hermes "Une Jardin sur le Nil" for not only is it a water scent, but it possesses a distinct sophistication, depth, resonance and is utterly lovely. I'm glad I bought my bottle of Shi at a discount and not waste full price.

Fragrances -Prada - Candy EDP

I'm really surprised to see the Prada name on this - Prada, originator of sophisticated fragrances. This is more like an Escada which, to me at least, is offensive in it's in-your-face cloying jamyness and brash flower odors (not even fragrance). The bottle is pretty, at any rate.

I love this lipstick! Finally, the perfect nude shade for me. I like the packaging, especially the rounded tube. Only complaint is the price but not enough to give less than a 5 rating.

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Miss Dior Cherie

Just what I was in the mood for! Come fall and winter I seek out my heady, exotic orientals; Luten's Chergui and Fumerie Turq, sometimes even For Her but this early November found me craving something new and different. While at Sephora a few days ago, I spritzed on, thanks to appealing magazine test strips, Miss Dior Cherie and fell in love. Before purchasing, as I do with every fragrance/cosmetic commitment, I checked out the MUA reviews then it was on to purchase. As described by others here, there is a definite sparkle; diamonds as opposed to lesser-frags' rhinestones. Cherie is light up to a point yet harbors a hint of something a bit sultry in the dry-down. I'm surprised since this is the only Dior fragrance I've liked.

Fragrances -Bulgari - Jasmin Noir

Today was one of those days I was in need of something special in life, something like a bottle of a wonderful new (to me) fragrance. Reading reviews in MUA and trusting Bulgari to not let me down, I decided on Jasmin Noir. Saks was selling the 1.7 oz. edp for $98 (plus tax). Always mindful of $$, I checked out Century 21 (I live in New York City) and found a bonanza: a gift combo consisting of 50 ml (1.7 oz) edp of fragrance and 75 ml each of body lotion and shower gel, all for $54 (plus tax)!! Extra bonus - classy black and gold container box that I will use to store jewelry, eventually. Since my winter preferences are for Oriental, Jasmin Noir fits the bill quite nicely. Only semi-complaint - I wish the jasmin note were a little more prominent.

While this is fairly nice when first applied, dry-down is like a man's (cheap) aftershave. Too bad because the bottle is pretty. I'm sorry to have wasted $$$.

Based on what I rubbed on from a magazine strip, I am completely in love with this fragrance. I own nothing remotely like this, and I own many, many frags. Now. Where in Manhattan can I purchase this? Neiman's is in Jersey and not easily accessible to me.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Missoni

Since Molto Missoni is one of my favorite (now discontinued) fragrances, trying on Missoni Missoni eau de parfum I was hoping for a repeat of Molto. While no where near Molto, I find MM wonderful in it's own right. The first time, I was disappointed but then, a second spritzing revealed something fruity, floral, but also musky, in a good way. Definitely high-end and not something I smell on every other woman I like this so much I've ordered the body lotion. I've got a huge fragrance collection, am VERY selective in what I buy and wear, and am happy to add this to my collection. Thanks to the woman who included the lotion benefits to her review!!

Eyeliner -Chanel - Le Crayon Kohl in Black Jade
fragranceisall 5/27/2011 7:49:00 PM
My HG eyeliner! Goes on smoothly, lasts a long time. I've been using Laura Mercier, have liked the black violet, but this is even better; I hope Chanel never discontinues this product now that I've discovered it. Enhances my green eyes like nothing else. I only wish I'd had this in my beauty arsenal during my young, vampish days!

Based on a "Vanity Fair" fragrance strip, I am liking this very much, enough, in fact, to purchase a bottle. It does remind me of something else but can't quite recall what. To me, the bottle is reminiscent of both "Flowerbomb" and the old YSL "Paris". Can't wait to try on a spritz to see exactly how the real stuff smells and how long it lasts on the skin.

The saying, "Never judge a book by it's cover" - not true. I saw the ad in the morning Sunday "New York Times", 1982. By afternoon I had a bottle in my possession. The photo of the parfum bottle is what did it; I had to know what this fragrance was like and yes, the juice matched the beautifully distinctive bottle. After going through 2 bottles, body creme, dusting powder, the scent became unavailable -- until now. I discovered it on the net and have ordered a bottle of the edt (the parfum is out of reach -- for now) and can't wait for delivery and first application. I wonder if I'll be as entranced as the first time..... UPDATE: Yes, I am, totally! I'm in love again! Next on the agenda is a 1/2 oz. bottle of parfum

Fragrances -Issey Miyake - L'Eau d'Issey
fragranceisall 9/27/2010 1:10:00 AM
For warm/hot weather, I prefer lighter, fresher scents and this was a HG for years, or until I discovered Un Jardin Sur le Nil (Hermes). I still love Issey; while a fresh scent, it is a little heavier than Nil, a bit sweeter. Always aware of design, I think the bottle and silver top are exquisitely simple - class act all the way.
