Makeup Brushes -Laura Mercier - Secret Camouflage Pull-Apart Brush
fortchick 7/31/2009 9:53:00 AM
I've been using this product for the past 4 years. I believe it's the only high-end retractable concealer brush on the market. I would used to pull the silver part of the handle whenever i wanted to dismantle the brush, and with my first 2 brushes, the silver part would come off. Luckily for me, Bloomingdale's has a great exchange policy and exchanged it for me both times. After the 2 exchanges, I had a good one, which I used for about 3 years. I used and washed it daily, and over the years there was some splaying. Overall though, it's great quality -- soft yet firm with excellent precision. I lost it and bought another one. Seems like the new design of the brush has a more rounded tip, but the precision is still impeccable. I lost it yet again, and bought another one. There's no brush on the market like this, and luckily, the quality is great when you get a good batch (like another reviewer said).

Blush -Laura Mercier - Illuminating Powder - Coral Red Quad
fortchick 6/29/2007 10:03:00 AM
This is very pigmented. I used my skunk brush and slightly dusted this on my cheek and this came up as a very bold pinky red. Gorgeous in the compact, but if you like red blushes this is for you. I personally prefer something more subtle. 4 lippies for pigmentation and quality. Just not the right color for me.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment - Lily White
fortchick 6/26/2007 11:48:00 AM
This is one of my all-time favorite pigments. I always use in my inner half lid to brighten up any look. There is definately a lot of fall out with this pigment and I always need tape next to me to clean it up. It is just like Stila Kitten, so if you have a gripe about the fall out, I suggest that. This is a highly shimmery champagne color that gives any look oomph. LOVE IT!

Eye Shadow -Stila - Kitten
fortchick 6/26/2007 11:44:00 AM
I love Kitten! The perfect highly shimmery champagney pink. This is just like MAC Lily White Pigment, which is my HG. I like to use Kitten on days when I'm in a rush and I don't have time to clean up the pigment fallout on my cheeks. This is definately a staple for me. Classic!

Eye Shadow -NARS - All About Eve Duo

This looked like nothing on me. I'm a NW20-25 (winter) and NC30-35 (summer) and this really looked like NOTHING on my lids. I give it 3 lippies for the excellent quality and cool packaging.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Discovery Mini-Brush Waterproof
fortchick 6/26/2007 11:36:00 AM
I use this for my lower lashes. It's perfect! Gets every little lash and there's no mess that I have to clean up. Stays in place the whole day and dirt cheap when there's a BOGOF sale.

Eye Shadow -Black Radiance - Loose Shimmer Shadow in Aqua Lustre
fortchick 6/26/2007 11:35:00 AM
I bought this on a whim at Duane Reade for $1.75 at the clearance bin. This eyeshadow is so beautiful. It's very similar to MAC Waternymph, but Aqua Lustre is more shimmery and silvery. Waternymph has more blue/green to it. My only complaint about this is the packaging. The loose e/s gets everywhere, including my fingers, my floor and anything that touches the pot. For $1.75, I'm not expecting anything more though. It's the good stuff inside that's inside that counts. I'd imagine this to last me a lifetime!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Volume Exact Waterproof
fortchick 6/19/2007 9:13:00 AM
This is a decent mascara. It's a bit drying and really does only deliver volume. I have to put two coats because one coat isn't enough for my asian lashes. It's no what I'm looking for; my HG is Voluminous WP and it delivers volume and length. The brush is easy to use and is not cumbersome at all. However, I think it is due to the lack of a load of bristles that it doesn't pump my lashes as well as Voluminous. IMO, this is just like Volum Express Turbo Boost WP, but not as volumizing and not as dry. *UPDATE*: I had to take off a lippie. This is my second week using VE and I found the formula to be super dry and flaky. I mean, it's still usable but I would look like a mess without my e/l comb. The brush is supposed to be easy to use and unbulky but I found that it clumps up more easily than my beloved fat Voluminous brush. I run a napkin thru it everyday, but the clumping is still there. It's definately the shitty formula.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Surf Spray
fortchick 1/7/2007 2:15:00 AM
I have to praise this product for it's versatility and it's performance with different lengths of hair. When I had mid-length hair, I would spray this all over my damp hair, scrunch, and air dry. The results were wavy and piecy mermaid hair. Now that I have a bob up to the nape of my neck (a la Julia Stiles), I spray it all over my hair and scrunch while blowdrying with a diffuser. I end up with something like this: http://www.arabia.msn.com/providersimages/special/julia-stiles.jpg. Just wavy and textured and piecy. I can see this product working for hair of all lengths. The price is VERY steep. At $26 for a small bottle, I'd rather go poor on my broke college student allowance than to go without this for a day.

Blush -Bourjois - Cendre de roses brune #48
fortchick 8/30/2006 3:05:00 AM
This is an average color with great stay power. The main thing that turned me off from this blush is that it smells very old. No offense to anyone, but it smells like something an older person would wear. I smelled this on my face throughout the whole day - that's how great the staying power of the scent and color is. This made my brush stink too. I could easily find another color like this without the rank.

Eyeliner -Smashbox - Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner in Illume
fortchick 8/4/2006 9:20:00 AM
I wish I could give this product a 3.5. This gel liner has got to be the worst in terms of application and quality out of MAC, BB, Stila, and Clinique (and I thought Clinique was bad). They are not smooth at all and creating an even line on the lid is the main problem. I had to layer this many times because it left a gap between my lash line and the liner. When I was done, it looked very uneven and unlike the smooth lines I get with BB, MAC, and Stila. The wear is superb though, like all gel liners. The color looks very much like MAC's Delphic, but with more green in it. And with the current trend in e/l, this is has a metallic finish to it. It is comparable to UD Covet and MAC Peacocked but not as intense and with Delphic's touch of blue. I think the color is unique enough in the gel liner market to justify buying it. The net weight is 2.8g, 0.2g less than MAC and BB, and $7.50 and $4.00 more, respectively. It looks like you get a lot less product b/c the packaging is not as heavy and bulky as MAC and BB's. If you have tealish green eyeliners already, then this is not a must. But if you're a green e/l hoe (like me) then this would be a great addition to your collection...only if you have the patience to work with it.

Eye Shadow -Pout - Miss Egypt
fortchick 8/1/2006 10:45:00 PM
This is my first Pout duo and I'm a bit disappointed. In the pan it looks like there is a distinguishable difference between the two colors, but there really isn't. They both appear to be a champagney color when applied to the eyes, but the lighter color just has more noticable glitter. I'm looking forward to trying out more Pout duos b/c the quality is superb and the packaging is too cute. I just wish this duo had a better color pairing. These colors were not meant to go together, but it's great individually.

Mascara -Maybelline - Unstoppable Mascara [DISCONTINUED]
fortchick 7/8/2006 4:56:00 PM
This mascara lengthens very well, but provides almost no volume. Of course, it did not hold a curl on my sad Asian lashes. My lashes felt stiff wearing this. This is definately not the star mascara in the Maybelline line. Being a mascara junkie, I believe this is the best lengthening mascara that Maybelline offers.

Blush -Smashbox - Fusion Soft Lights - Intermix
fortchick 6/28/2006 1:00:00 AM
I am in love!!! Initially, I bought this to give me a glowy look. Not only did Intermix give me that look, but it gave me a sunkissed glow! I dust this over my cheekbones, chin, temples and nose and I look like I just came back from Honolulu. HG stuff, I NEED A BACKUP! *UPDATE*: I went through one and use that soley as a bronzer. In using other bronzers, I realize that this has a lot of pink in it and it really is just a bronzey pink blush. My backup shattered on my when I was about 50% in. I have since found another HG bronzer, Laura Geller Bronze n Brighten.

Lip Gloss -MAC - pink meringue
fortchick 6/3/2006 11:18:00 AM
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. This is my new favorite lipglass! I'm an NW20 with slightly pigmented lips and this shows up as a sheer pink on me. I don't know, it isn't anything special but it looks so great on me for some reason. I'll have to go back for a back up of this. =)
