Mascara -Essence - magic design
foofighter99 1/1/2013 10:31:00 PM
Bought this mascara on a whim. I actually had Cover Girl Lash Blast in my hand but was persuaded by the low price of the Essence line and also the fact that they do not test on animals. This mascara rocks. Out of the three that I bought (all Essence) this one is by far my favourite. I love the brush and it separates my lashes well with absolutely no clumping. It defines and separates my lashes and gently darkens - a great daytime mascara!!!! I also am so impressed as it did not cause any bizarre allergic or sensitivity with my eyes. Love it!!!!! I will definitely repurchase. If I was to make a comparison it's similar to Clinique High Impact mascara but at a fraction of the price. (Unfortunately I can not wear Clinique as it irritates my eyes).

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal
foofighter99 7/4/2012 9:11:00 AM
Picked this baby up at Walmart because it was on sale. I go through these phases of mascara experimenting....in the hopes that I will find a dirt cheap awesome mascara that gives me perfect lashes (uh huh...). Anyhow, I bought 3 mascaras and this brand was one of them. I have to admit it did NOT let me down like the other two did. Application is that of a "wet type" mascara. I curl my lashes then apply a few coats being careful to avoid clumps (which are minimal). The coverage is buildable and natural looking and truly adds massive volume. My lashes are long but I like to add volume and darkness to them...this delivers. It wears remarkably well for a non-waterproof type and removes easily. I have no smears, flakes, or bits falling off or running into my eyes which is important as I'm a contact lens wearer. One downfall: the smell. It has a really strong chemical smell that doesn't interfere with me wearing it but on application I'll get a whiff and think - ewwwwww. Comparable to: Lash Blast Will definitely repurchase as I know it's something that works for me and is relatively inexpensive and can be found pretty much anywhere.

Polishes -China Glaze - For Audrey
foofighter99 7/4/2012 9:00:00 AM
My favourite nail colour for summer toes - E V A HHHHHH! As it's name implies it is the exact colour of a Tiffany box. Hence the Audrey (Hepburn) reference. The colour is smooth and applies exceptionally well. Two coats really anchors the polish (with a clear topcoat) but I put on one coat in an uber-quickie pedicure because my toes were blasphemous and it's Day 3 and they have not chipped at all (and that's no topcoat folks). I just can't stop staring at them because the colour is soooo pretty. It really sets my skin tone off as well. I see it being a pretty neutral for all skin tones. It can be compared to a robin's egg blue shade. I've gotten so many compliments on the colour. The price is low for a salon brand (cheaper than other brands - you know who you are) and as far as I am concerned China Glaze is one of the best nail varnish/polishes out there. The only thing I would complain about is that it thickens quickly.....but hey all nailpolishes do. I will just buy another one. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

Mascara -Essence - Multi Action False Lash Effect Mascara
foofighter99 6/10/2012 9:07:00 AM
Le Crap. I bought this mascara because it was on sale and thought "why not". For $3.49 I can't go wrong. I made the mistake of taking it with me to work and applied my makeup there because I was pressed for time. Yikes.....bad idea and the start to a bad day. It was clumpy, so much so it was falling on my cheeks. It balled up on my lashes and didn't even coat them. I wear contact lenses and a small piece even attached itself to my lense. Crazy bad. I tried a second coat and pumping the wand to see if perhaps the formula just need a bit of blending. Not. Absolute horrid. It hit the trash bin the same morning. That's a saying a lot for me because I rarely throw something out unless there is absolutely no use for it. It was just horrific. Save your money, put it towards a tried and true product that works for you. I won't be messing about with various mascaras anymore. Too risky and not worth the pain factor.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
foofighter99 1/27/2012 1:28:00 PM
I want to love it because I do love Clinique products but I think I'm allergic to it. After a couple of days using it I start to get blotchy patches on my skin. I guess it's a love or hate relationship with this product. Unfortunately I can not use it. EDIT: Not sure if I had a "bad tube" of this lotion but I started using it again and now I'm in love with it. My skin feels moisturised but not heavy or stifled and it's perfect under makeup. I stopped using it for a bit and then went back to it. It creates soft, supple, healthy looking skin that has cushion and bounce. Can't ask much more than that. Also a bit lasts a long time. Caveat.....no sunscreen.

Moisturizers -Clean & Clear - morning glow spf 15
foofighter99 8/4/2011 4:45:00 PM
Using this product on my face was a fluke for me. I found it in my guy's "away bag" for when he is gone overnights from home. At first I refused to try it cause I was convinced that his ex-relation bought it for him and I threw it out. He promptly retrieved it from the garbage. So I tried it one morning and actually liked it. It's a simple moisturizer that gives your skin a "healthy glow" - similar to the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer (in fact they are manufactured by the same company - Johnson & Johnson). It has an SPF 15 in it - just enough for daily coverage. It leaves my skin moisturized, non-greasy and it's perfect under makeup. Normally this is not something I would even entertain buying but because I had tried it and liked (even the pump is convenient) I saw it on sale and snatched it up. It's not a glamorous container, in fact it looks like something you would get at the hospital but I love the product and the price was awesome - it was 50% off so $5.00 at my local Zehrs store. Can't beat it and I would repurchase again cause it doesn't irritate my face or clog my pores. I am pleasantly surprised at how awesome this lotion actually is. Notes: Have been using this for quite a while now and one downside to this product that I've noticed is it's a bit gritty under makeup; other than that - it's fantastic.

Lipstick -MAC - Lipstick in Bombshell
foofighter99 7/20/2011 12:14:00 PM
When I walked up to the MAC counter and asked the sales person for some help in "matching a colour" I think she was in shock when we matched Bombshell. I had this colour of lipstick that I had received in a kit when I took a makeup course and I loved it but didn't know even what brand it was. We matched it to Bombshell and it's a dead ringer. It's is an extremely flattering soft coral pink with a slight gold shimmer. It's really pretty. I'm always trying out new makeup colours and testing the limits of what I can wear and how I can wear it. I hate routine and the same thing over and over. I added this baby to my lipstick lottery (reach into makeup bag and whatever colour you pick is the colour for the day!!!!). I'm glad I bought it and I also love the scent of MAC lipsticks - they just smell delicious!

Lip Gloss -Burt's Bees - Lip Shimmers - Cocoa
foofighter99 3/2/2011 5:44:00 PM
I bought this because a Burt's Bees display was sitting beside the cash register (I'm being honest). It was very inexpensive and I wasn't expecting much. Much to my surprise I find myself reaching for this over and over and over. It is a pretty mocha coloured lip tint/lip balm with a bit of a mauvey undertone (if that makes sense). It has a subtle shimmer and is definitely on the cool side of shades. For some reason it works on me. It looks fantastic with a slight tan and makes my teeth look whiter. I love that it's a natural product. I have never been dissappointed with any of the Burt's Bees products. I will definitely repurchase. I have a feeling this colour is popular because everytime I check out the display this colour is always sold out!

Polishes -OPI - Mauving to Manitoba
foofighter99 1/12/2011 3:04:00 PM
A beautiful plum-rose mauve shot through with miniscule silvery shimmer (very subtle shimmer). OPI rarely fails with their formula being that they exhibit great wear, shine and coverage. A classic, feminine and neutral shade that can be worn by various skin tones. I would compare it to a softly metallic version of Silent Mauvie (OPI). Very pretty!

Shampoo -Sexy Hair Concepts - Big Sexy Hair volumizing shampoo
foofighter99 1/5/2011 6:35:00 PM
I bought this shampoo and partner condition at my local beauty supply store. I just didn't like it at all. My hair (at the time) was about shoulder length and it is chemically processed with highlights, it is fine but there is lots of hair. This shampoo just left me with straw-like, unmanageable hair. I could barely comb through it. I don't know why it didn't work for me? Maybe I have the wrong hair type. I was very dissapointed - especially considering the amount of money I doled out even with an at cost card. Do not recommend. I think the money has been spent on the presentation and gimmickyness of the products rather than the actual ingredients and formula. I got better results from cheap drugstore brand shampoo/conditioners.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Twilight Woods Body Butter
foofighter99 1/5/2011 6:28:00 PM
I have people stop me and ask what is that scent? I love it. The body cream itself is rich and creamy and sinks in well. I use it as a light perfume instead of applying more perfume over top as it's heavily scented. Price is very inexpensive. It is available in a whole line of products - bath/shower gel, lotion, fragrance spray, body butter. It's very pretty. It's woodsy, oriental with a bit of a powdery finish.

Skincare - Body -Johnson & Johnson - Baby Oil
foofighter99 1/2/2011 1:54:00 PM
Well I was reading reviews about Johnson's Baby Oil and thought...hmmm I don't remember ever using this to remove eye makeup or makeup in general. Now I remember why......it leaves a nasty residue around my eyes that interferes with my contact lenses. Can't do it. Surprisingly I use Pond's Cold Cream which is also Mineral Oil based on my eyes but somehow the combination of ingredients emulsifies and I don't get the same residual effect as from straight Mineral Oil. Crazy I know. As far as a body moisturiser - AWESOME. I use it while I'm in the shower at the end of my routine while the water is still running. I just quickly put a few drops on my hand and run it over my body (not my face though). If the water is still running it doesn't matter because it won't wash off with just water anyhow. The secret to applying it this way is to lock the natural water moisture retained in your skin from the shower exposure. Makes your skin soft, supple and well moisturised (not greasy feeling). I towel dry afterwards and my skin is never itchy anymore in the winter. Cheap, efficient and yet another thing I can accomplish in the shower to cut down on the morning routine time!

Cleansers -Ponds - Deep Cleanser Cold Cream
foofighter99 1/2/2011 1:30:00 PM
Can not live without this product. I don't know why I never used it when I was younger but I have noticed in some of the reviewers comments that the product has been reformulated? Well I love it. It is all I use to remove my entire face makeup. I apply it with my fingers and work it into my eyes to remove the waterproof mascara and then use a wrung-out, warm washcloth to remove the product from my face. Works perfectly everytime. As far as packaging goes I read some concerns about hygiene and the fact it's a tub. Well just use some sort of clean applicator to remove the product if that is an issue. I don't understand the cause for hygience concerns, especially if you wash your hands first which most people do? It's just a small plastic container in the traditional Pond's shape....fine by me. I don't expect a showy container for a face cleanser. I have never had a problem with the lid coming off if you are travelling with it in your luggage. Clean, soft and supple...what more could you ask for. In the summer I use Clinique Toner or Witch Hazel afterwards only because I find I get shinier in the summer with warmer weather at this helps keep the oily zones at bay. I just can't beat this product for value, quality, and efficiency. I would be lost if they ever stopped making it. Also if you travel you can find this product pretty much anywhere. An absolute, hands-down, beauty classic! Edit Addition: I stopped using this and started using a Clinique cleanser. Very bad decision. My forehead has become scaly and I am thinking I'm reptilian or something (hee, hee).....now I will return to using this cleanser. I don't know what I was thinking. If you find something that works - KEEP USING IT. Don't be a product whore like me. Lol.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
foofighter99 1/2/2011 1:16:00 PM
Love this mascara. I have repurchased several times and will buy again. I most recently bought the waterproof version which I love and is truly waterproof yet removes quite easily even with just regular old Ponds Cold Cream. One lippie off for clumping if you are not careful to comb through with a lash brush/comb. I only apply 1 to 2 coats tops and carefullly brush through with a clean mascara wand or lash comb. Really opens up the eyes and I can wear just this without eyeshadow for a really natural look! Love, love, love.

Shampoo -Got 2 Be - Hottie Deep Repair Shampoo
foofighter99 1/2/2011 1:06:00 PM
I gave this shampoo a 4 for the smell alone. Omg, it smells fantastic. To me it smells like cake batter with a hint of coconut. The lather is not bad but takes some time to develop with massaging and adding water. I was told (at one point in my life) that a shampoo that is difficult to lather is actually better for your hair because the shampoo with tons of suds is just stripping your hair? Not sure but it does leave my dry, overly chemically processed lightened hair soft and easy to comb out when I pair it with the partner conditioner. I will repurchase just for the smell alone.
